Good morning everyone! Second post dedicated to cards I made using the last released set of digital stamps by Beccy´s place (first post here). The set I´m using is Apple butter and today I have two more cards.

¡Buenos días! este es mi segundo post dedicado a las tarjetas que hice usando el último set de imagenes digitales de Beccy´s place. Estoy usando el set Apple butter y hoy quiero mostrarles dos tarjetas.

this first card is very simple and not so time consuming ☺ I started by printing the sentiment on a piece of designed paper, looks like a table cloth, right? it reminds me to a fall picnic in an apple orchard. Then I printed the image on a scrap of white cardstock and colored it with colored pencils. As embellishments I added a few iridescent red sequins.

Esta primer tarjeta es muy sencilla en diseño y no lleva tanto tiempo hacerla. Empecé imprimiendo el deseo en un trozo de papel de diseño que me recuerda a un mantel de picnic. Luego imprimí las manzanas en un trozo de papel blanco y las coloreé con lápices de colores. Y como adorno le coloqué unas lentejuelas rojas iridiscentes.

For the second card I chose an old sketch that I like to use a lot.

Para la segunda tarjeta usé un viejo diseño que he usado muchas veces porque me gusta su simpleza.

I printed the sentiment directly on the base of the card, added a strip of patterned paper and placed the image with foam tape.

He impreso el deseo directamente en la tarjeta, luego coloqué una tira de papel de diseño y coloqué la imágen con cinta de goma para darle dimension.

Here is a close up of the apple butter jars that I colored with colored pencils and blended with gamsol (or white odorless spirits). When I finish the coloring I cut the image around very carefully before placing it on the card.

A continuación una foto del detalle de la imagen coloreada. Usé lápices de colores que difuminé con gamsol (o trementina blanca inodora), y recorté con cuidado la imágen para colocarla en la tarjeta.

Hello my blogland friends, today I´m starting another serie of posts to show you what I created using another set from Beccy´s place released this week. This time I´m using the Apple butter set and here is my first card.

¡Hola amig@s de este mundo blogero! hoy empiezo otra serie de posts para mostrarles unas tarjetas que hice usando una vez mas un set de imagenes digitales de Beccy´s place. Esta vez voy a usar el set Apple butter y esta es mi primer tarjeta.

this card started with an experiment-went-wrong, but I like a lot how it turned out! that´s why I love so much making cards, you can be bold, try new things, have fun and recycle if your experiment goes wrong.
The recycled piece on this card is the embossed vellum paper. In my mind it was a great idea, but when I run the paper thru the machine it broke and looked bad, too bad... but I didn´t wanted to throw it away, instead I paired it with a patterned paper and used the semi-transparency of the vellum to soften the colors of the DP and add texture at the same time.

esta tarjeta empezó con un experimento fallido... pero me gusta mucho el resultado final ☺hacer tarjetas me encanta, no solo porque es un momento creativo sino porque te permite ser valiente, probar cosas nuevas, y si el experimento no te sale bien (como en este caso), siempre podes reciclarlo.

La parte reciclada y reutilizada en esta tarjeta es el papel vegetal texturado. La idea era pasarlo por la maquina para darle textura y se suponia que iba a quedar muy bonito, pero la verdad es que no funcionó muy bien y se veia bastante feo... pero no lo tiré, en cambio le puse un papel con diseño de fondo de manera que el papel vegetal apagara un poco los colores del papel y a la vez le diera textura.

Because I wanted the apples to be the focal point I took a lot of time and care while coloring them with colored pencils. I wanted the apples to have a realistic look without hiding the texture of the paper.

Dado que queria que las manzanas fueran el foco de la tarjeta, me tome mucho cuidado en colorear la imagen con mis lápices de colores. Queria lograr un acabado realista en las manzanas pero sin ocultar completamente la textura del papel.

I printed the sentiment on a scrap of paper and cut it like a flag before placing it on the card. So, this card has a simple layout but lots of texture and color. Hope you like it! thank you once more for stopping by, have a great day!

El deseo esta impreso en un trocito de papel al que corté con forma de banterita antes de colocarlo en la tarjeta. En resumen, esta tarjeta tiene un diseño simple pero mucha textura y color. ¡Espero que les guste tanto como a mi! muchas gracias por la visita ☺

Hello hello! Are you still there? I hope so! this is the third and last post showing you the cards I made using the just released Simple sentiment set of digital stamps from Beccy´s place.

¡Hola! ¿están ahí todavía? este es mi último post en donde les muestro las tarjetas que hice usando el último set de sellos digitales Simple sentiments de Beccy´s place.

On the first card, I printed the image on a scrap of white carstock, then I colored the image with colored pencils and added some glitter with stickles.

La primer tarjeta es muy sencilla, imprimí la imagen en un trozo de papel blanco y coloreé las flores con lápices de colores. Como toque de brillo le puse un poco de stickles en algunas flores.

After printing the sentiment on the card, I embossed it for a nice texture and placed the image with foam tape on the front of the card. Love how the flowers stand out by coloring them with yellow.

Antes de darle textura a la base de tarjeta, imprimí el deseo. Luego coloque la imagen con cinta de goma para darle un poco mas de dimensión. Aunque el amarillo no es mi color favorito, tengo que admitir que las flores destacan muy bien en esta tarjeta "casi" completamente blanca.

The second card today is my favorite!

Esta segunta tarjeta es mi preferia de todos los tiempos ☺

for this one I used a gorgeous japanese paper, it has some fibers in it and I love love love how it looks. Fist I designed the oval with PE as a guide to place the cluster of flowers, then I placed the sentiment in the center and printed it all on the fiber paper. I colored the flowers with colored pencils that I blended with gamsol (or white odorless spirits). This time I didn´t add anything extra like glitter or stitches, it has enough details to look at as it is.

para hacer esta tarjeta usé un papel precioso japonés con pequeñas fibras que le dan un aire elegante y a la vez moderno. Lo primero que hice fue hacer un óvalo en PE como guía para colocar las flores, una vez hecho puse el deseo en el centro e imprimí el conjunto en el papel japonés. Luego coloreé las flores con lápices de colores que difuminé con gamsol (o trementina blanca inodora).

Hi there! this is a second post to show you another card I made with the new set of digital stamps released by Beccy´s place. I´m using once more Simple sentiments set.
This card has a little more of work, but it was worth it!

¡Hola de nuevo! este segundo post es para mostrarles otra tarjeta que hice con el nuevo set the imagenes digitales de Beccy´s place. He usado nuevamente el set Simple sentiments.

Esta tarjeta lleva un poco mas de trabajo, pero valió la pena cada segundo ☺

I printed three images on a piece of white cardstock, then I colored them with colored pencils and cut carefully around. Finally, I embroidered an iridescent sequin and a glass seed bead on each flower.

Imprimí las tres imagenes en un trozo de papel blanco (este tiene un poco de textura) y coloreé las flores con lápices de colores, las que corte luego con mucho cuidado por alrededor. Luego bordé una lentejuela y una cuenta sobre cada flor con hilo de bordar.

I placed each flower cluster with foam tape on the card for an extra dimension and printed the sentiment directly on the card.

Coloqué las flores en la tarjeta con un trocito de cinta de goma para darle un poco de dimensión extra, e imprimí el deseo directamente sobre la tarjeta.

Hello friends! so long! lots of things to update but I´ll leave that for another post ☺Today I wanted to show you some cards I made for the new releases at Beccy´s place. Both sets are absolutely gorgeous, you have to check them out!

¡Hola amig@s! tanto tiempo, ¿no? Tengo varias cosas para contarles pero eso lo dejo para otro post porque este quiero usarlo para mostrarles unas tarjetas que hice para el lanzamiento de nuevos sellos digitales de Beccy´s place. ¡Ambos sets son hermosos! no pueden perdérselos.

I´m going to start with Simple sentiments set (since I´m not willing to let go the summer, yet...).

Voy a empezar con el set Simple sentiments, no quiero que se vaya el verano todavia...

These gorgeous flowers will give you lots of room to play.

Estas flores son preciosas y pueden usarse de muchísimas maneras.

I started with a simple design: a single flower and the sentiment repeated several times, I printed them directly on a beautiful white card. I colored the flower with copics and highlighted one of the repeated sentiments.

Empecé con un diseño muy sencillo: una única flor y el deseo repetido varias veces, luego imprimí directamente sobre la tarjeta. Coloreé la flor con copics y resalte uno de los deseos.

The second card I wanted to show you on this post is the following:

La segunda tarjeta que quería mostrarles en este post es la siguiente:

I repeated the sentiment in a square shape around the flowers and then I printed it on white cardstock. Then I colored the flowers with colored pencils and blended them with gamsol (or white spirits). Finally I added some dots of pearled paint on the centers of the flowers and in between the sentiments to stress the separation.

Repetí el deseo alrededor de la imagen de las flores y luego las imprimí sobre un recorte de papel blanco. Coloreé las flores con lápices de colores y los integré con gamsol (o trementina blanca inodora). Finalmente le puse unos toquecitos de pintura perlada en el centro de las flores y entre los deseas para resaltar la separación.

Hello blogland friends! Here today I´m showing you two creations I made for my first DT assignment for Beary Wishes. A few weeks ago Kathie, a very talented and generous person, owner of Beary Wishes invited me to be on her Designer Team. Of course, I couldn´t say no! I met Kathie 4 year ago (OMG!!!!!! times flies....) when we were on a DT together and she happens to be a beautiful person, I really hope I we can meet in person someday.

¡Hola amig@s de este mundo blogero! Hoy queria compartir con ustedes un par de proyectos que hice para Beary Wishes. Hace unas semanas atrás, Kathie me contactó para formar parte de su equipo de diseño, y no pude decirle que no ☺ Conocí a Kathie hace cuatro años cuando estuvimos juntas en otro grupo de diseñadoras y resultó ser una persona encantadora. Kathie tiene muchisimo talento, sus imágenes son preciosas y es muy generosa. Ojalá podamos conocernos en persona algún día ☺

The first one is a little wall hanging project made with recycled materials. I printed this beautiful image (Zen) on watercolor paper and colored it with watercolors pencils.

Mi primer proyecto es un cuadrito para colgar en la pared que hice usando materiales reciclados. Imprimí la imagen Zen en papel de acuarela y lo coloreé con lápices acuarelables.

I added a few touches with glossy accent on the stones and stickles on the candle flames. The base is a scrap of a folder I have left from another project and the design paper I painted myself with the shaving cream technique (a very fun one!). I finished it all with chipboard letters, drew drops and a string knotted on the middle to hang on a wall.

Para darle algo de brillo le puse glossy accent en las piedras y stickles en las llamas de las velas. La base del cuadro es un trozo de una carpeta que me sobro de otro proyecto anterior y el papel de diseño lo pinté yo misma con la técnica de la crema de afeitar (¡muy divertido! otro día les muestro como hacerlo). Para terminar el cuadro use letras de cartón para escribir "relax" y unas gotas de rocío. Para colgarlo le puse un trozo de yute al que hice un nudo en el medio.

My second project is a simple card. This time I used Sweet Rosie cupcake, that I colored with colored pencils.

Mi segundo proyecto es una tarjetita. En este caso use Sweet Rosie cupcake que coloreé con lápices de colores.

I paper pieced the cupcake lining paper and placed it with foam tape on the card for extra dimension. I couldn´t resist to add a bit a sparkle to the roses on the cupcake decoration ☺

Esta vez usé la técnica de paper piecing (piezas de papel) para el papelito de la magdalena, y lo coloqué con cinta de goma para darle volumen extra. Y como no, le dí un poco de brillo a las rosas de la decoración con stickles.

Hello! here I have a new card to show you... for a dear friend? for our best friend, mom?

¡Hola! aca estoy un dia mas mostrandoles una tarjeta. Será para una amiga muy querida? para mamá nuestra mejor amiga?

it´s a simple card indeed. I took an ornament stamp and stamped it on the card base with white ink, once it dried I added a few dot of stickles (I couldn´t resist). The thing I tried for the first time was the embossed butterfly: I did it on acetate and cut it around very very carefully before placing it on the card with foam tape. I like it a lot! The sentiment is from Latina Crafter, and finished the card with three sequins in a row. I think it turned out pretty, and a bit different of what I´m doing lately, it feels good to try new things ☺ Hope you like it too! Thank you for stopping by today ♥

es una tarjeta simple. ¡Si! super simple ☺ lo que hice fue estampar con un sello ornamental directamente en la base de la tarjeta con tinta blanca, y una vez que se secó le puse unos puntitos de stickles (no pude resistirme...). Lo que hice por primera vez para esta tarjeta fue la mariposa blanca con polvos de embossing. La estampé en acetato transparente y la corté con muchísimo cuidado alrededor antes de ponerla en la tarjeta con cinta de goma. ¡Me encanta como queda! el que resalte y a la vez sea transparente me gusta mucho ☺ El deseo es de Latina Crafter, y terminé la tarjeta con tres lentejuelas rojas.

¡Me gusta! es un poco diferente a lo que estoy acostumbrada a hacer, pero es un buen ejercicio salirse de la zona de confort ☺ Espero que les haya gustado e intenten tambien hacer
algo nuevo. ¡Gracias por la visita!

A card for Mom ♥ Una tarjeta para Mamá

Hi friends! Mother´s day is approaching, love that it is during spring... lots of flowers for mom!

¡Hola amig@s! se acerca el dia de la madre... y me encanta que sea en primavera, ¡todas las flores para mamá!

I have used several stamps: roses are hand carved by me ♥, the heart is a rubber stamp from Rubber Stampede, and the sentiment and banner is from Latina Crafter (it reads "mom, you are the best" in Spanish). I stamped the heart and flowers on a scrap of white paper, cut it around and placed it with foam tape on the card.

En esta tarjeta use varios sellos: las rosas son hechas a mano por mi ☺, el corazón es un sello de goma de Rubber Stampede, y el deseo es de Latina Crafter.

Estampé el corazón y las flores en un trozo de papel blanco y recorté con cuidado la imagen. La coloqué en la tarjeta con cinta de goma para darle dimensión.

To make it shine and sparkle I added some glossy accent and stickles. Here you have it! a simple card but pretty for a special mom. Hope you like it too, have a great week!

Hello friends! I have another tutorial today, this time I wanted to show you how to color with crayons and have a wonderful watercolor look.

¡Hola! hoy tengo otro tutorial para ustedes, esta vez quiero mostrarles como colorear con crayones y conseguir un aspecto de acuarela.

The basics are: crayons and skidd oil. I like grease based crayons (the old fashioned ones...) because they can blend very easily, plastic based crayons are not so blendable and I don´t like much the final result. The oil is from IKEA, it´s to waterproof wood butcher tables, you´ll find where the kitchen stuff is.

Los materiales básicos son: crayones y aceite skidd. Les recomiendo crayones que sean de grasa (los de siempre! los que huelen a crayones ☺) porque se pueden mezclar muy fácilmente, los crayones de plastico no me dan buenos resultados. El aceite es de IKEA, se usa para impermeabilizar las tablas de madera y lo pueden encontrar en la sección de cocina.

I took one image from Beccy´s place I have printed on simple canson-like paper. I started by coloring the flowers, and this is the color palette I chose

Para colorear elegí una imágen de Beccy´s place que imprimí en papel del tipo canson. Empecé por las flores y esta es la paleta de colores

the lighter color first,

el color mas claro primero

following with the middle tone

seguido del tono intermedio

and add the darkest on the center, don´t worry too much about how you are coloring, remember we are blending the colors later, just add color to your flowers!

y el mas oscuro en el centro. No hay que preocuparse por los detalles porque los vamos a mezclar. ¡Sólo hay que colorear las flores! y sin miedo

now is the fun part: take a blending stump, moisten its tip with the oil (I use a small cup to pour a bit of the oil from the large bottle). Make sure your stump is not too full of oil, if it is then rub it on a scrap of paper to dry it a bit. Rub your stump over the flowers and you will see how the colors start to blend ♥ in the picture below the upper flower is not blended yet (click on it to make it larger and see the details)

ahora viene lo divertido: tomamos un difumino y lo mojamos un poco en el aceite (yo tengo un frasco pequeño). El detalle a tener en cuenta es que el difumino no tiene que estar muy empapado de aceite, en caso que lo este, yo tengo un trocito de papel siempre a mi lado para frotarlo y quitarle el exceso.

Frotamos el difumino por las flores y enseguida van a notar como empiezan a mezclarse los colores. En la foto a continuación la flor de arriba no estan mezclados los colores todavia (pueden hacer click en ella para agrandarla y ver mas en detalle)

Now that you have your flowers done, it´s time to color the leaves. I chose gray and forest green colors

Ahora nos toca colorear las hojas. Elegí un gris y un verde bosque

Color with the same technique, lighter color first, darker color last

Coloreamos igual que antes, el color mas claro primero y el mas oscuro después

Blend them, if you have several stumps then use one for flowers and one for the leaves, if you don´t then sharpen the tip and you have a clean one

Los mezclamos con el difumino. Si tienen mas de uno (son muy baratos) es mejor usar uno para las flores y otro para las hojas. Si solo tienen uno, ¡no problem!, le sacamos punta y ya esta, tenemos un difumino limpio ☺

I decided to shade a bit on the inside of the floral arrangement, I chose a sky blue, and blend it after. Just a bit to make the flowers pop

Por último queria darle un sombreado a las flores asi poder resaltarlas un poco mas. Usé un crayon celeste cielo, al que tambien difuminé

This is the final result! so pretty, so soft, watercolor like, love it!

Y aquí les muestro el resultado final. ¡Queda tan bonito! los colores son suaves y con un aspecto muy parecido al que dan las acuarelas

Now it´s time to make a card with it! I took papers from my stash and followed a sketch I liked. The sentiment is a silicon sticker I had for AGES (it´s been on my stash of stickers like 9 years? omg!!!) ... I die cut the image and placed it on the card with foam tape. At the very end I added a few dots of pearled paint.

Ahora que tenemos las flores coloreadas podemos hacer una tarjeta con ellas. Tomé trocitos de papel que tenia en mi carpeta de recortes y los dispuse siguiendo un diagrama. El deseo es un stiker/pegatina de silicona que tengo desde hace................... 9 años!! (cómo es posible????????)

Corté las flores con un die y las coloqué en la tarjeta con cinta de goma para un efecto 3D. Y por último, puse unos puntitos de pintura perlada.

I used two different papers: patterned paper and cardstock (as the green/light blue you see on the finished box). Your template will be a dessert plate, mine is 7.5 in diameter. Cut one circles one each paper. The patterned paper is optional but it looks so beautiful I highly recommend it ☺

Usé dos papeles diferentes: un papel de diseño para el exterior (completamente opcional pero queda precioso) y otro liso para el interior. El patrón de la caja va a ser un plato de postre, el mío mide 19 cm de diámetro. Cortamos un circulo de cada papel

Use decorative scissors to decorate the edges of the patterned paper, just cut around without measuring or drawing anything, it´s just to make the circle a bit smaller.

Con tijeras decorativas cortamos alrededor del circulo de papel de diseño, sin marcar y sin complicarse, es simplemente para quitarle un trocito y hacerlo mas pequeño.

Now cut a square of 3 in x 3 in from printer paper and place it on the center, you don´t have to be perfect here! score by the sides of the square across the circle. Now take a cutting tool or scissors and cut at the black lines I have drawn on the picture below. Now fold the paper at the red lines and around the square (that will be the base of the box).

Cortamos un cuadrado de 7,5 cm de lado en un papel blanco de impresora y lo colocamos en el centro del círculo ¡no hay que hacerlo perfecto! solo ver que esté mas o menos en el centro es suficiente. Marcar con un boli que no escriba (o con un bolillo pequeño) por los cuatro lados del cuadrado atravesando todo el círculo. Cortamos por las líneas negras que he marcado en la foto a continuación. Y por último doblamos por las líneas rojas y alrededor del cuadrado, ésta será la base de nuestra caja.

Now is time to assemble your box! put some double sided tape on the "ears" and stick them on the inside as you see on the picture below. Repeat with all four ears on the patterned paper and on the cardstock.

Ahora es el momento de ensamblar nuestra caja, ponemos cinta de doble cara en las orejitas que cortamos y las pegamos en la parte interna como les muestro en la foto a continuación. Hacemos lo mismo con el resto de las orejitas de los dos papeles.

You will end up with two boxes. Take a bit of double sided tape and place it on the inside of the patterned paper box, and place the cardstock box inside. And that´s it!
It´s more difficult to explain it in words than doing it.... You can use it also as a nice little gift holder, I made one of these cute boxes and filled them with small craft goodies for a dear friend. Hope you like it!!

Así hemos hecho dos cajas que vamos a meter una dentro de otra. Ponemos un trocito de cinta de doble cara en el interior de la caja de papel de diseño y colocamos la caja de papel liso dentro. Y ¡listo! ya esta nuestra cajita terminada ☺ ¡Es mas fácil hacerla que explicarla!

Pueden usarla para hacer un pequeño regalo o simplemente para colocar cositas dentro como las cintas washi. Hice una para una amiga y le puse pequeños regalitos para hacer scrap ☺ ¡Espero les guste y se animen a hacerla!

Hello! today I have a pretty card for you

¡Buen dia! hoy les tengo una tarjeta que a mi me gusta mucho

The image is a digital stamp from Beccy´s place that I colored it with my beloved colored pencils and rounded the corners before placing it on the card. I dry emboss the cardstock and highlight the design by rubbing it with a white inks pad. The sentiment is made with some old rubber stamps I have in my stash onto light pink fiber paper. A few sequins and you have a very pretty card!

He coloreado la imagen (preciosas flores de Beccy´s place) con mis queridos lápices de colores y antes de ponerla en la tarjeta le redondeé las esquinas. Texturé la base de la tarjeta y para resaltar el diseño lo froté con tinta blanca. El deseo simplemente lo estampé sobre un trocito de papel de fibra rosa pálido, y complete la tarjeta con unas lentejuelas. ¡Me encanta como quedó!

I made a card several weeks ago where I die cut a piece, here. That piece couldn´t go to the paper bin, it was too pretty! I took a sticker, a couple of feather and a stamp with a nice sentiment (from Latina Crafter)... and voila!

Hace unas semanas atrás hice una tarjeta donde corte un trozo con un die, pueden verla aquí. Como se imaginarán, ese trozo no podía tirarlo, asi que tomé un sticker, un par de plumas blancas, un sello con un bonito deseo (de Latina Crafter) y ¡voilá!

Hello dear friends! today I want to show you hot to make four cards I using one single sketch. You can make the best of it by turn it and flip it. Here are the beautiful four:

¡Hola!! hoy quiero mostrarles como hacer cuatro tarjetas usando un único esquema. Le podemos sacar el mayor partido simplemente girandolos en distintas direcciones. ¡Estas son las cuatro tarjetitas!

The first thing to do is to select a sketch. I wanted a simple one, so I chose sketch #102 at Retrosketches:

Lo primero es seleccionar un esquema. Yo queria algo simple entonces elegí el Nro 102 de Retrosketches:

Then I took the images I wanted to use, I made a file you can click on it and download it. The images are from The Graphics Fairy and the sentiment is word generated (by me ☺), enjoy!

Luego elegí las imágenes que queria usar. Estas son de The Graphics Fairy e hice un archivo que pueden descargarse, solo tienen que hacer click en la imagen y guardarla en el ordenador. Los deseos estan en ingles, pero si a alguien le interesa puedo traducirlo al español, me envian un mail o dejan un mensaje ☺

Print the images on patterned paper, trim them and start making your cards!

Luego imprimimos las imágenes en papel de diseño, las recortamos y ya estamos preparados para empezar a hacer las tarjetas.

1) I started by rotating the sketch 90° to your right:

Empecé con el esquema original y lo roté 90° hacia la derecha:

2) Then I flip sketch horizontally

Luego volteamos este esquema horizontalmente

and the corresponding card

y su tarjeta correspondiente es la siguiente

3) Take the original sketch and flip it vertically

Tomé otra vez el esquema original y lo volteé verticalmente

and you have another card

y asi hacemos la tarcer tarjeta

4) lastly, flip this last sketch horizontally

y volteamos este último esquema horizontalmente

and you have another card!

¡y asi tenemos la última tarjeta!

Now is time to add some little embellishments as rhinestones, sequins and dew drops. I kept them simple thinking they could be good card for males too. The patterned papers are from Prima Marketing: Botanical collection, beautiful!

Ahora agregamos unos pequeños adornos (strass negros, lentejuelas, gotas de rocio...) teniendo en cuenta que las imágenes son adecuadas para regalarselas a hombres y debemos mantenerlas simples pero elegantes. Los papeles de diseño que usé son de la coleccion Botanical de Prima Marketing, muy bonitos!

Notebooks! (third round)

Third and final post dedicated to notebooks ☺
These are very special to me because I made them with recycled materials (my favorite kind of crafts!). As much as I enjoy making paper cards and crafts, I´m very conscious about the "need" to have new papers, new material, new tools... and I end asking myself all the time "do I really need them?". What I really do need is be more gentle with the environment, do my best to recycle/re-purpose material; and of course I need my time to create almost everyday, at least a few minutes.
These notebook are very easy to make, you can find a great tutorial about a simple bookbinding here. I modified a little bit the tutorial by stitching the covers along with the pages and decorated the cover afterwards.

Tercer y último post dedicado a cuadernos de notas (son chiquitos asi que mejor los llamo libretas de notas). Éstos son especiales para mi porque use materiales reciclados (son el tipo de manualidades en papel que mas me gusta hacer). Disfruto muchísimo haciendo manualidades en papel y soy muy consciente acerca de la necesidad de tener mas papel, mas material, mas herramientas, mas, mas, mas... y siempre me pregunto "¿de verdad los necesito?". De lo que estoy segura es que necesito ser mas amable con mi entorno, hacer lo mejor que pueda para reciclar/reutilizar material; y por supuesto, necesito dedicar a las manualidades al menos unos minutos por dia.
Las libretas de hoy son muy fáciles de hacer, pueden ver un tutorial espléndido en este link con muchas fotos del paso a paso para los que no lean en inglés. Me tomé la libertad de modificar un poco el tutorial cosiendo las tapas conjuntamente con las hojas de la libreta.

On these mini notebooks I made the covers recycling cereal boxes. To give them some color I used some scraps of papers, on the insides I did the same since I wanted to cover the original cereal box print (if you use double sided paper you can do both at the same time with just one piece of paper). I glued a piece of grosgrain ribbon to hide the stitches on the backbone, and finished them with a button and a piece of embroidery floss for the closure.

A estas primeras libretas les hice las tapas reciclando cajas de cereales. Les di algo de color con unos recortes de papel de diseño que tenía en mi carpeta de recortes, e hice lo mismo en el interior de las tapas para cubrir el diseño original de la caja de cereales (si usamos papel de doble cara hacemos las dos cosas a la vez con un solo papel). Le pegué con cola vinilica un poco de cinta de algodón en el lomo de la libreta para tapar las costuras; y termine las libretas cosiendo un boton y un trozo de hilo de bordar para el cierre.

And on these ones, I recycled old file folders (they were discarded at work and I rescue them from the paper bin!). I cut the folders at the middle perpendicular to the fold, you get 2 per folder. I decorated them hiding the stitches on the backbone with scraps of paper, glued some paper doilies and paper embossed flowers; and I did the closure again with embroidery floss and a button.

Para las que les muestro a continuación reciclé unas carpetas de archivo (las encontré tiradas en una caja de reciclado de papel del laboratorio donde trabajo y allá me fui... ¡al rescate de las carpetas!). Las corté al medio perpendicular al doblez, van a salir dos libretas de cada carpeta. Tapé las costuras con recortes de papel, y usé blondas y flores de papel para decorar el frente de las libretas. Terminé las libretas haciendo el mismo tipo de cierre que las anteriores con un botón e hilo de bordar.

These were part of a gift for a friend, and I gave her a pair of beautiful earrings (from Always perfect) that I place them a holder I made using scraps of the folder I used for the notebooks.

Éstas las hice como regalo para una amiga junto con un par de aros (preciosos de Always perfect). A los aros los coloqué sobre un trocito de cartón de los que me sobró de las carpetas de archivo.

Hello friends! More notebooks today ☺ I´m showing you two, each at both ends of complexity (one elaborated and one simple) but nevertheless beautiful.

¡Hola! lo prometido es deuda y hoy les muestro otros dos cuadernos de notas: uno elaborado y uno simple.

Starting with the complex one, this is a nootebook I made for an invisible friend this last holidays that a fun group of ladies (Valentinas bombing) organized and I joined in. Lots of fun!!!! So I started collecting information about my invisible friend to alter this notebook to her tastes. The first thing I learned was she likes to crochet, so a kind of organizer for crochet diagrams was the first idea I had ☺ But I extended this idea to other areas of her creative self and added a few sections dedicated to other crafts.

Empiezo por el cuaderno mas elaborado. Éste fue parte de un regalo que hice a una amiga invisible estos reyes pasados (Valentinas bombing lo organizó y me encantó participar!). Lo primero fue juntar informacion acerca de mi amiga invisible asi poder personalizar mas el regalo. Me enteré que le gusta hacer crochet asi que lo primero que se me vino a la cabeza fue hacerle un cuaderno donde organizar todos esos patrones que nos gustan. Pero para no dejarlo solamente restringido a patrones de crochet, lo extendí a otras áreas.

I covered the notebook front and back with this gorgeous paper I had in my stash. I embellished it with paper flowers, paper doily, sequins, pearls, a sentiment that ("my creative world") was word generated and printed on cardstock and a crochet flower I made to add some dimension.

Cubrí las tapas del cuaderno con un papel de disño precioso que tenia en casa. Lo decoré con flores de papel, una mini blonda, lentejuelas, perlas, el deseo lo hice en word y lo imprimí en papel gris, y una flor de crochet que tejí para darle algo de efecto tridimensional.

here you have the back, and you can see I keep it more simple but I added some sparkle with stickles (it doesn´t show well, but believe me, it sparkles!)

aquí les muestro la parte de atrás que deje mucho mas simple, pero le puse un poco de brillo con stickles, no se ve muy bien pero brillaba y mucho!

On the inside I separated the notebook into sections: this first one was dedicated to granny´s diagrams or ideas (I printed a few I found on the web to illustrate how she can put the diagrams in). Embellished each one with pieces of the same paper, flowers and sequins. The image is a clipart and I printed it on gray cardstock

En el interior separé el cuaderno en secciones: la primera está dedicada a patrones de granny´s (encontré algunos en internet que imprimí y se los puse a modo de ejemplo de cómo guardarlos). Adorné cada sección con trocitos del mismo papel de diseño, flores y lentejuelas. La imágen es un clipart que imprimí directamente sobre la cartulina gris.

This section was dedicated to flowers, the images with the cute buttons are from Pollycraft.

This one is dedicated "to wear" things, the image is from TlcCreations

"Decorations" sections using a Bugaboo image, cute cup by the way!

Hice una sección dedicada a las manualidades de decoración usando una taza preciosa de Bugaboo.

And a final section dedicated to her "ideas", I used a Meljen image, it was just to perfect! I made the tabs (where I wrote the sections names) by cutting in half a spellbinder die cut.

Y la última sección la dejé abierta a las "ideas", esta imágen es de Meljen y es perfecta para lo que quería expresar ☺ Los separadores de las secciones son unos die cuts de spellbinder que corté por la mitad donde escribí el nombre de cada parte.

And finally here you have a close up of the notebook with its pretty crocheted flower

The second notebook I wanted to show you is a simple watercolor book I made for a dear friend.

El segundo cuaderno que quiero mostrarles hoy es un cuaderno hecho con papel de acualeras que hice para el cumple de una querida y dulce persona

I simply cut the watercolor paper in squares of 6 x 6 in and decorated the covers. I used navy blue cardstock for the base and layered it with a pretty flower design paper cutting it a bit smaller.

Este es muy simple porque corté los papeles de acuarela en forma de cuadrado de 6 x 6 pulgadas y decoré las tapas. Para eso use una cartulina de color azul marino y un papel de diseño con flores muy delicado y bonito, que corté un poco mas pequeño para que se viera la base

On the front I used some gold fibers ribbon, a leftover piece of embroidery flowers ribbon and spelled "dream" with chipboard stickers. Finishing by tying it all together with sheer ribbon. Simple but pretty ♥

En la parte delantera me esmeré mas en la decoración manteniéndo la idea de que fuera simple, y use trocitos de cinta que me habian sobrado. Las letras son stickers de cartón y ensamblé el libro con una cinta de organza. Un librito sencillo pero que quedo muy bonito.

Hello there! today, and the following two days, I´m showing you some paper crafts different than my usual cards: notebooks
Until I gathered all the pictures I didn´t realize I did so many already!
I start with this mini notebook I made for a friend. I think it turned out sweet ♥

¡Hola, hola! hoy, y los próximos dos días, voy a mostrarles unas manualidades en papel que hice y que milagrosamente no son tarjetas: son cuadernos de notas ☺

Hasta que junté todas las fotos que queria mostrarles no me había dado cuenta que habia hecho unos cuantos. Voy a empezar mostrándoles este pequeño cuadernito que hice para una amiga ¡quedo muy tierno como toda ella! ♥

I decoupaged a beautiful paper napkin on the outside of the notebook, loving those cherry blossoms! I added a few sequins and spelled "notes" with stickers.

Lo que hice en este cuadernito fue darle un look diferente: usé una servilleta de papel (¿vieron que hermosos diseños tienen ahora??) y la técnica de decoupage para que quede bien unida a las tapas delantera y trasera. Unos stickers/pegatinas deletreando "notas" y unas lentejuelas para darle ese brillo que me encanta.

On the inside I covered the notebook with a fiber blue paper, a cute sticker and a little note from me; and I finished it with a bow made of twine.

En la parte interna de las tapas, y para tapar y emprolijar los bordes de la servilleta, le puse un trocito de papel de fibras azul. Lo completé con un sticker/pegatina, una notita escrita a mano con boli de gel blanco y un lacito hecho con fibra de yute.

Here is another notebook I made for another friend a time ago, this time I used a double sided patterned paper.

Aquí les muestro otro cuaderno de notas, este es un poquito mas grande, que hice para una amiga hace un tiempo ya. En este caso usé un papel de diseño de doble cara para forrarlo.

I chose the cute owls for the outside of the notebook and the reverse side of the paper (with flowers in it) to cover the inside. The advantage to use double sided paper is they complement each other.

Como el papel tenía doble diseño, elegí los búhos para el exterior, y el diseño del reverso del papel para cubrir el interior (con unas flores muy bonitas). Ésta es una de las ventajas de usar papel de doble cara: los papeles se complementan y no tenemos que rebuscar entre nuestros papeles como combinarlo ni comprar papel extra.

One paper, two cards: tutorial technique

Avisad@s quedan tod@s que este va a ser un post con muchas imágenes, tengo un tutorial preparado para ustedes.

I find this technique very interesting when you have a patterned paper that is very busy, colorful or difficult to combine with other papers. It´s called Bargello technique and I learned somewhere on the internet years ago.

Esta técnica que hoy les muestro me parece interesante cuando tenemos un papel con un diseño muy denso, de muchos colores o dificil de combinar con otros papeles.

Se llama Bargello y la aprendí hace unos años en algun lugar de este paraiso bloguero.

Here there are the two cards I made with the same paper and the same technique, with some slight differences I´ll explain you in more detail below.

Aquí les muestro las dos tarjetas que hice usando el mismo papel y la misma técnica con algunas pequeñas modificaciones que les explico en detalle mas abajo

Lets start! First, take your blank card and the patterned paper with a stripped design (this technique work better with stripped patterned papers)

¡Empecemos! primero tomamos nuestra tarjeta en blanco y nuestro papel con diseño (esta técnica funciona mejor con papeles de diseño con líneas)

take your trimmer and cut stripes perpendicular to the design, mine are of 1 cm wide

ahora cortamos el papel en tiras de 1 cm de ancho de manera perpendicular a las líneas del diseño. Este paso es muy fácil si tenemos una cizalla, pero si no, con paciencia igual se puede ☺

here you have all the paper strips (you can cut them in stripes of different widths too)

así queda todo el papel cortado en tiras iguales (podemos cortar las tiras de diferentes anchos también)

I wanted my design to be smaller than the front of the card, so I used a simple backing paper (printer paper) where to arrange my design before placing it onto the card

para la primer tarjeta queria que mi papel de diseño fuera mas pequeño que el frente de la tarjeta. Entonces, tomamos un trozo de papel blanco (simple, de fotocopiadora o impesora) en donde poder formar el nuevo diseño antes de pegarlo a la tarjeta, este será nuesto papel base

cover your backing paper with double sided tape

lo cubrimos con cinta adhesiva de doble cara

and start placing the strips along the long edge of the backing paper. Repeat the following pattern: place the second strip displaced to the right, the third strip in the same position as your first, the fourth strip in the same position of the second, and so on until you complete the width of your backing paper. You will end up with a zig-zag like pattern.

y empezamos a formar nuestro nuevo patrón: colocamos la primer tira pegándola al borde del lado mas largo del papel base. Pegamos la segunda tira desplazada un poco hacia a la derecha sobre la primera, colocamos la tercera tira en la misma posicion que la primera y la cuarta en la misma posicion que la segunda, y asi hasta cubrir por completo el papel base. De esta manera conseguimos un patrón en zig-zag.

Trim the excess paper,

Cortamos el exceso,

round the corners,

redondeamos los bordes (paso completamente opcional),

and place it on your card (I make it uneven on purpose). Add a faux stitch around it with a black gel pen. I nedded a piece of twine and two stamped images (Snapshots from MME).

y lo colocamos sobre la tarjeta (lo coloqué desplazado sobre el lado izquierdo de la tarjeta a propósito). Dibujamos una línea de trazos todo alrededor con boli de gel negro, y completamos los materiales necesarios con un trozo de fibra de yute y dos imágenes estampadas (Snapshots de MME).

Acomodamos los ementos a nuestro gusto y ¡listo! ya tenemos la primer tarjeta hecha

Lets do the second one! this is a little bit different because I´m not using a backing paper. Instead I´m placing the strips directly onto the front of the card base. Take your double sided tape and place it slanted across your card (I used 2 strips of 1 in double sided tape)

Hagamos ahora la segunda: como les dije, vamos a usar la misma técnica pero con una pequeña variación. En vez del papel base vamos a unir las tiras que cortamos directamente a la tarjeta. Para eso colocamos la cinta adhesiva de doble cara en diagonal sobre el frente de nuestra tarjeta (yo use dos tiras de 2.5 cm de ancho ¡no hace falta medir nada!)

as with the previous card, start placing the strip in a zig-zag way until you finish covering the tape

de la misma manera que hicimos la tarjeta anterior, vamos colocando las tiras de papel formando un zig-zag hasta cubrir por completo la cinta adhesiva

trim the excess, stamp the sentiment and place some nice elements, like a punched star, some star shaped sequins and black rhinestones

recortamos el exceso, estampamos el deseo y colocamos algunos elementos bonitos para decorarla: una estrella troquelada, unas lentejuelas con forma de estrella y unas piedritas de strass negras

and here you have the second card using the same paper and the same technique with a completly different result!

¡y aquí tenemos nuestra tarjeta terminada en todo su espelendor! en la que usamos el mismo papel y la misma técnica con un resultado completamente distinto

Happy Valentine´s day! today I don´t have a love card, booo....
This card turned out too bold respect to my usual CAS cards, but I like the result. I stepped out of my box and paired two colors that are out of my comfort zone: blue and orange.
The sentiment is from Latina Crafter that I stamped it on textured vellum paper. Added sequins, pearls, sheer ribbon and a tiny blue butterfly, everything is from my stash.

¡Feliz dia de los enamorados! y tanta tarjetita con corazoncitos estos dias y hoy les muestro una sin corazoncitos.... buuuu...

Esta tarjeta me hizo salir de mi zona de comodidad, emparejar naraja y azul es algo que no hago naturalmente, pero me gusta como quedó.

El deseo es de Latina Crafter que estampé en papel vegetal texturado, muy bonito... Le puse unas lentejuelas, perlitas, un poco de cinta de organza y una mariposita en azul.

This is the inside of the card, where I placed more sequins and added some stickles.

Aqui les enseño el interior de la tarjeta, coloque algunas lentejuelas mas y le di un poco de brillo con stickles.

Hello! here I have a card to show you, I wanted it to be more masculine, but I´m not so sure... Anyway, here it is!

¡Hola! hoy queria mostrarles una tarjeta en la que la idea original era que fuera un poco mas masculina, no estoy del todo segura si lo consegui, pero esta es!

I colored the image (from Artemio) with colored pencils and I blended them, tons of fun! it was a while since I colored an image with such detail, and I loved it!

Coloreé la imagen (de Artemio) con lápices de colores y les di un aire de témpera fundiendo la grasa del lápiz ¡me encantó! tengo que repetir, hacía un tiempo que no coloreaba con tanto detalle y lo pasé muy bien ☺

Then I double glittered the heart (glittered it twice) and embossed the sentiment (from con Sal y Pimienta) in white. The good part is I used every paper from my stash of scraps, whoo hoo!

Luego puse doble capa de glitter en el corazón y use la pistola caliente para hacer el embossing blanco en el deseo (de con Sal y Pimienta). Lo mejor de esta tarjeta es que cada trozo de papel salió de mis carpetas donde guardos los recortes ¡un hurra por mi!

Following the impulse to make love cards, here I have a simple card with a beautiful result. I love how it turned out! I was a little bit rusty on the coloring side, that tells me I need to practice more!

¡Hola hola! hoy les muestro una tarjeta simple con un resultado muy bonito. Hacía mucho que no coloreaba con mis lápices de colores y estaba un poco arrumbada ¡nada que no se pueda arreglar con la práctica!

I used a A day for daisies image, colored with colored pencils, then I added some glossy accent to the flowers, sequins and my first embossed sentiment on vellum (at the third try I got a decent result...).

La imágen es de A day for daisies que después de colorear las flores les puse glossy accent, también use unas lentejuelas y el deseo esta en relieve (use polvo de emboss con la pistola caliente por primera vez! y al tercer intento ya salió mas o menos como quería....).

Placed the image on the card, with two strips of a scrap of a beautiful patterned paper. Finally I faux stitched on the outside of the patterned paper, and added a big cut out red heart (gift from my dear friend Stef) that glittered with clear tape and some glossy accent on the borders.

Una vez colocada la imágen en la tarjeta le adherí a cada lado dos tiras de un recorte que me sobró de papel muy bonito y colorido y dibujé puntadas con un boli de gel blanco. Por último le puse un corazón rojo troquelado (un regalito de mi amiga Stef) al que le puse glitter con cinta celo transparente y un poco de glossy accent en los bordes.

Hello friends! this is the time of the year when everything turns sweet. I love LOVE!
Today I have a few cards to show you, I made them one layer card with just a pop of color, and of course: a bit of sparkle...

¡Hola a tod@s! esta es la época del año en que todo se convierte en dulzor y ¡¡me encanta!!

Hoy les muestro unas tarjetas muy sencillas pero que tienen un gran impacto visual ¡son las que mas me gustan hacer! le di un toque de color rojo (por amor al amor...) y por supuesto un poco de brillo

Sentiments are in spanish from Latina Crafter (I love you and You are special to me), kitty stamps are from Artemio and the dragonfly stamp was a gift from a dear friend and I don´t have the designer. Glitter and stickles add the final sparkly touch.
Hope you like them!

Los sellos que usé para hacer estas tarjetas son: deseos de Latina Crafter, gatitos de Artemio y la libélula no tengo el diseñador porque fue un regalo y no tenia el envoltorio original. Tambien le puse un toque final de glitter rojo y un poco de stickles. Espero les guste ☺

One scrap of paper, three cards (second round)

Hello again! I´m in a roll! I did several cards this weekend and now I want to show them all to you ☺
Following the series of using a single paper and making the best use I can of it, here I have three more cards:

¡Hola de nuevo! ¿no se aburren de verme tres veces seguidas esta semana? espero que no ☺

Este fin de semana pasado hice unas cuantas tarjetitas y queria mostrarlas todas, pero las agrupe en este caso por el papel que use al hacerlas. Estas tres las hice con la misma idea del post anterior, tomar un recorte de papel y aprovecharlo al máximo.

They look not so simple, but believe me they really are! I happen to come across a double side paper, lots of options.
On the first card I simply cut the bottom border and turn around the top part of the paper. A pretty sentiment (I love you the way you are from Latina Crafter stamps), some punched butterflies and sequins complete the look.

A primera vista no parecen muy simples, pero creanme que lo son. Encontre un trozo de papel de doble cara (impreso por los dos lados) que a mi cerebro le dice muchas cosas. En esta primera tarjeta simplemente corte el borde de la parte inferior del papel y le di la vuelta a la parte superior. Estampe un deseo directamente en el papel (de Latina Crafter), y le pegué unas mariposas troqueladas y unas lentejuelas. Fácil ¿verdad?

On the second one I did nothing to the paper, just trim it around to fit in the card base. Then I used the negative of a punched strip of butterflies in a coordinating color, stamped the sentiment (Thinking of you also from Latina Crafter) and cut around and added some sequins, and that´s it!

En esta segunda tarjeta no le hice nada al papel, simplemente lo recorte para encuadrarlo y que encaje bien en la base. Luego encontré una tira de papel que use para troquelar unas mariposas y la pegue sobre el papel. Estampé el deseo (de Latina Crafter) en un papel blanco y lo recorte y agregué algunas lentejuelas para darle el toque final.

On the third one, I cut a strip on the top part of the paper, turn it around and placed it in on top. Stamped the sentiment (My best friend from Latina Crafter) and the girl image (from con Sal y Pimienta), added some punched butterflies and sequins to finish it.

Y en la última tarjeta corte una tira de la parte superior del papel y lo di vuelta. Estampé el deseo (de Latina Crafter) y una muñequita (de con Sal y Pimienta). Termine la tarjeta con unas mariposas y unas lentejuelas.

Again, these cards are for our weekly meeting at Carmaking for a cause this next Friday, hope you like them and start using more your scraps! now I did convince you to come to scrap with us, right??!!
