Lighting can do so much to add more character and ambience to any room or space in your home. This newer fresher lighting can go a long ways to help a homeowner truly love and appreciate their home once again as they did when it was new. Wall sconce lights can add light easily just about anywhere and are especially useful in hallways and entryways where light fixtures in the ceiling or table lamps just will not work as well. Tiffany wall scone lighting is not only functional as lighting but look elegant on the wall as well. The stained glass itself more often than not is like art hanging on the wall whether illuminated or not. Add a touch of style while adding some mood lighting to just about any room in your home or dark corner by simply installing a wall sconce or several wall scones. Placement should be about eight feet and approximately six feet off the ground for the most effective installation.

Though Louis C. Tiffany is best known for his stained glass windows and Tiffany lamps the family business was and still is fine jewelry. Louis’s father, Charles Lewis Tiffany, used precious metals and rare gemstones to create beautiful jewelry to be sold at his Tiffany & Co. store.

When Charles passed away, Louis began working more at Tiffany & Co where he began designing his own fine jewelry. Instead of concentrating on jewelry for the American elite, Louis began thinking of jewelry affordable to the common man.
Whether you look at his stained glass panels or his fine handmade lamps Tiffany was a expert at bringing high quality items to more than just the elite. Tiffany was much more than an artist he was also one of the first industrial designers.

Jewelry designed by Louis Tiffany used stones that matched the colors he used in his beautiful stained glass works. These pieces featured gemstones from all over the US that wear the centerpiece in affordable jewelry that could be purchased and worn by the common man. Over the years this Tiffany art jewelry has been lost in the shadows of his other fine works but in recent years they have come back into the limelight.

Since George Inness was a early art instructor to Louis Comfort Tiffany many antique collectors wonder just how much of an influence this great painter had on the stained glass panels that Tiffany went on to create. Inness was born in Newburg, New York in 1825 where he was fifth of thirteen children. His fine art paintings were highly influenced by the old masters and eventually he studied with French landscape painter Régis François Gignoux. Much of his early career was spent traveling to some of the greatest locations in Europe, which he captured in beautiful images that drew him much acclaim and many commissions.

At the age of 17 Tiffany left school to study art with George Innes in New York. In a very short two years one of his paintings was accepted into the Annual Exhibition of the National Academy of Design. Over the next 30 years his paintings, mostly watercolors but some oils as well, were seen in some of the top galleries in such cities as Philadelphia, Chicago, and Paris.

For the art lover looking to see one of the paintings done by Tiffany over the years, these are tougher to find than his antique Tiffany lamps. Only about a third of the paintings he ever did ended up in museums around the world. The rest of his beautiful landscapes and garden images are in private collections.

Tiffany’s skill as a painter is a large part of the reason his stained glass panels were such a success. The beautiful images he was able to capture on canvas transferred over beautifully to glass to create an art form that is now practiced by thousands of glass artisans in their studios.

Many who do not know much about Tiffany lamps do not understand why they have such fascination with so many collectors and interior designers. There are many reasons for this but one of the biggest is each lamp was made by hand by a skilled artesian unlike so many which are mass produced for a product that is like thousands of others.
Using discarded pieces of glass from the process of making stained glass panels Louis Tiffany along with others in his glass studio created these fine works of art in light out of what they had been throwing away in the manufacturing process.

From these small pieces of stained glass Tiffany was able to create the gorgeous tiffany table lamps and floor lamps which are now such major collectible items that they fetch extremely high prices in auction houses whenever they go on sale. Plus there is a thriving market for stained glass lamps, which are still made by hand and sold using the patterns, and designs that Tiffany created during his career.

When collectors of Tiffany stained glass panels and lamps consider these fine works of art in glass it is widely assumed that Louis Comfort Tiffany himself created them. In reality Tiffany had a hand in the design and creation of so many glass items and even other forms of media that he actually did not create the pieces themselves.

Instead the Tiffany studio employed many artists and other talented people to create the pieces Tiffany envisioned. This freed up the man behind the elegant stained glass to follow his artistic vision and continually improve upon and create beautiful pieces of fine art glass, which became the thing to have in your home at the time. Of course Tiffany did keep his hands on the daily operations and oversaw every single detail on the art glass panels and lamps, which carried his studios name.

Though considered art his glass works were always aimed at the collector who wanted only the best to display in their home, as Tiffany himself did. Tiffany is now famous for being both an artist of beautiful works as well as an industrial designer that made and shipped thousands of glass art pieces all over the world.

One complaint from many homeowners is the amount of light their home seems to have in the evening. This is especially true of those rooms where they spend a lot of time and in the fall and winter months when the days are shorter and people are spending more time indoors out of the cold.

So many homes only have one lighting fixture or one strip of track lights hanging from their ceiling and this seems adequate, but it really can be lacking in the warm and inviting feel. If you are not in love with your home due to the lack of warm lighting consider adding some beautiful Tiffany lamps to the rooms you spend the most time to increase the amount of light that is available in it.

For the living room add a Tiffany floor lamp next to your favorite chair to read by. These lamps take up very little space and add so much lighting while adding that beauty only stained glass can add.

Also consider adding Tiffany table lamps to end tables or buffets to increase the lighting in corners or more illumination to the center of the room down close to where it is more useful unlike more tract lights high on the ceiling.

Just placing a few Tiffany lamps around any room can add so much lighting to your life. Plus as a added bonus these lamps can be moved around at any time to get the lighting exactly where you need it, when you need it.
