<p>Hopefully you&#8217;ve had a chance to read through<br />
and digest my last email&#8230;I talked about a<br />
realization that led to a big shift in my<br />
thinking&#8230;and why I believe this is the next<br />
evolution in the conscious creation of success<br />
and happiness.</p>

<p>In this email I&#8217;m going to investigate a study<br />
that was done on obese middle aged women<br />
entering a weight loss program&#8230;and the<br />
rather unexpected discovery that came with it.</p>
<p>We all know and accept, that belief in<br />
your ability to succeed, is probably the best<br />
indicator of how much success you will actually<br />
achieve.</p>
<p>That has been proven to be true in many high<br />
quality experiments over and over again.</p>
<p>However, there&#8217;s a rather big twist in the tale.</p>
<p>In this study of obese women, the researcher<br />
asked these women how likely they felt they were<br />
to reach their weight reduction goals.</p>
<p>She found that those women who were confident<br />
that they would succeed lost twenty-six pounds<br />
more than those who doubted themselves&#8230;that&#8217;s<br />
pretty much what we expect right?</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the interesting part&#8230;</p>
<p>The researcher also asked these women whether<br />
they expected it to be easy or challenging to<br />
achieve their weight loss target.</p>
<p>&#8230;and here&#8217;s what she found&#8230;</p>
<p>The women who believed they would succeed easily,<br />
lost 24 pounds LESS than those who thought<br />
their weight-loss journey would be difficult.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s an amazing finding&#8230;and it&#8217;s been<br />
replicated over and over again.</p>
<p>Similar studies with minor tweaks have also been<br />
conducted and all the results tell us this:</p>
<p>&#8220;Focussing on and acknowledging challenges and<br />
obstacles and then actively preparing for them,<br />
significantly increases your chances of success.&#8221;</p>
<p>Expecting the journey to be difficult makes it<br />
MORE likely that you&#8217;ll actually succeed.</p>
<p>Now you may be thinking that you already kind of<br />
knew that, right? But&#8230;</p>
<p>This advice completely opposite to what 99% of<br />
Law of Attraction &#8220;experts&#8221; will tell you&#8230;</p>
<p>Instead they&#8217;ll tell you to AVOID focussing on<br />
the possible challenges or you&#8217;ll attract more<br />
of them into your life.</p>
<p>But&#8230;thanks to modern research we know that they<br />
are flat out wrong.</p>
<p>In the light of the evidence, it&#8217;s fairly safe to<br />
conclude that, their strategy is closer to a<br />
receipe for failure.</p>
<p>Now that science has illuminated the truth, you<br />
can feel 100% confident to go with your gut feeling<br />
of what you always knew was true:</p>
<p>&#8220;Anticipate and prepare for obstacles and<br />
challenges.&#8221;</p>
<p>And I&#8217;ll be blantantly honest&#8230;I too bought in<br />
to the idea of not focussing on the negatives&#8230;</p>
<p>&#8230;but thanks to the desire to constantly refine<br />
my methodologies and techniques, I was able<br />
to learn better, admit I was wrong and change<br />
the way I do things.</p>
<p>By the way, this concept is called<br />
&#8220;Realistic Optimism&#8221;&#8230;</p>
<p>&#8230;and it&#8217;s just one of a handful of enlightening<br />
discoveries science has made about success.</p>

<p>A HUGE Happy Holidays to everyone from me <img src='http://alltoosimple.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>I hope you are all having an amazing holiday.</p>
<p>Even though I&#8217;ve been living everywhere<br />
except in my home country for the last 5<br />
years&#8230;I&#8217;ve managed to artfully dodge the<br />
northern hemisphere winter Christmas&#8230;</p>
<p>&#8230;until now!</p>
<p>It&#8217;s my first white Christmas ever &#8211; well,<br />
there&#8217;s no snow in Holland yet, but I hear<br />
it&#8217;s on the way.</p>
<p>I want to kick off this email by admitting<br />
that this was <span style="text-decoration: underline;">one of the toughest emails I&#8217;ve</span><br />
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"> ever had to write</span>.</p>
<p>Over the last 6 months my thinking has<br />
evolved significantly and I&#8217;m going to invite<br />
you to join me in this leap forward.</p>
<p>I believe most of you will absolutely love<br />
this evolution and&#8230;see it as the next generation<br />
of personal development work.</p>
<p>However some may be resistant to change, and<br />
that&#8217;s O.K. &#8230; I&#8217;m hoping the next few emails<br />
will really hit home and explain why this change<br />
is so important.</p>
<p>It all started when I stumbled onto some<br />
research about exactly how and why placebos<br />
worked.</p>
<p>It fascinated me and so I went on to<br />
investigate other similar &#8220;errors of<br />
judgement&#8221; that we as humans make.</p>
<p>It turns out there are a LOT of these habitual<br />
errors&#8230;for example&#8230;</p>
<p>&#8230;we have pretty much proven<br />
beyond a shadow of a doubt that we&#8217;re<br />
generally good at accessing how we feel,<br />
however&#8230;</p>
<p>&#8230;we are very, very, often wrong when we try<br />
to figure out WHY we feel that way.</p>
<p>So we can accurately report on our feelings,<br />
but we are completely inaccurate when trying to<br />
explain why we feel that way.</p>
<p>I hope that scares you as much as it scared did me&#8230;</p>
<p>Confronted with a ton of water-tight evidence<br />
about how often these &#8220;errors of judgement&#8221;<br />
cloud us, I had to admit the undeniable<br />
truth:</p>
<p><strong>&#8220;In order to prove a technique or method CAUSES</strong><br />
<strong> a specific result we need a well designed,</strong><br />
<strong> double blind, randomized controlled study</strong><br />
<strong> (which is also the gold standard of proof in</strong><br />
<strong> the scientific community.)&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>That was a BIG realization.</p>
<p>Now I want to stop for a second and say that<br />
I am <span style="text-decoration: underline;">not discounting personal experience or</span><br />
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"> testimonial</span>&#8230;it&#8217;s just that I&#8217;ve come to<br />
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">realize and accept that as humans, our reporting</span><br />
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"> mechanisms make a LOT of mistakes</span>&#8230;and in order<br />
to find true causality, we need a controlled<br />
experiment to control for those errors.</p>
<p>It took some time for me to accept this hard<br />
truth, but I did eventually, and&#8230;</p>
<p>&#8230;armed with my nerdy academic background of<br />
being an actuary&#8230;I tackled EVERY piece of<br />
scientific literature, every journal paper I<br />
could find that had anything to do with<br />
success and happiness.</p>
<p>The reason I looked to those scientific pieces<br />
of literature is of course because they are<br />
very strict about only discussing results from<br />
controlled studies&#8230;which, as we just learned,<br />
is the only way to establish causality for sure.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s what I found through all that research:</p>
<p>- Most of what we believe about success and<br />
happiness is <strong>approximately</strong> correct BUT;</p>
<p>- there are a handful of absolutely crucial<br />
concepts, strategies and tactics which are<br />
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">completely missing</span> from traditional personal<br />
development or self help knowledge&#8230;yet we&#8217;ve<br />
proven they have a <span style="text-decoration: underline;">ridiculously powerful</span><br />
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"> effect on our success and happiness</span>;</p>
<p>- Also, thanks to these controlled studies we are<br />
able to say with great certainty, what the most<br />
important focal points are i.e. what 20% of<br />
concepts, strategies and tactics produce 80% of<br />
the results.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m going to cut this email right here, it&#8217;s<br />
probably too long already&#8230;but I realy wanted to<br />
drive home why this change is so badly needed.</p>
<p>In the next few emails I&#8217;m going to share with<br />
you the specific concepts, strategies and<br />
tactics that I uncovered through all that research&#8230;</p>
<p>&#8230;and how you can use it to create more success<br />
and happiness in your life.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><pre>Yesterday I sent out a crucial email detailing
the theory behind my new "Belief Buster Shortcut"
method.

In short, its the culmination of a massive amount
of evidence based research and experimentation
I've been embarking on...and the results my
personal coaching clients have been getting are
*awesome*

Today I'm going to show you how to apply the
shortcut to the following limiting belief:

<strong>"I don't know what to do in order to become</strong>
<strong>a millionaire."</strong>

Now, firstly...while this *may* or may not be
true...it's still a limiting belief.

If you don't know what to do, then having this
belief will prevent you from gaining the skills
and knowledge required in order to know what to
do.

If you do know what to do, then having this
belief could just be blocking it from your
conscious vision or maybe you know what it is
but won't take action.

So in either case, whether it's true or not, it's
still a limiting belief!

Now, let's apply those theoretical steps.

<span style="text-decoration: underline;">1) Activate affective system via compassion</span>

First up, realize that having this belief is
completely natural. Most people believe they
don't know what do to in order to become a
millionaire.

It's not your direct fault. You've been influenced
by your upbringing, your environment and a whole
host of other factors.

So forgive yourself, it's out of your conscious
control and you're O.K.

<span style="text-decoration: underline;">2) EFT "-" Emotional Glue</span>

Now scan yourself for any emotion relating to
this belief.

Perhaps you're angry at yourself for having it.

Perhaps you feel deflated and helpless when you
read it out to yourself.

Whatever the case, start tapping on those
emotions using EFT. Take care of them all.

<span style="text-decoration: underline;">3) Mindful Rational Investigation</span>

Now that you've cleared some space around the
belief, lets look at it closely.

"I don't know what to do in order to become
a millionaire."

Is it that true? If so, what resources do you
have at your disposal to educate yourself?

The internet? The library? A successful friend
or family member?

Do you know anyone who has gone from rags to
riches...what did they do?

Those are all viable resources. More than enough
to get you started.

Realize that this belief is pretty darn
irrational, with a little bit of action, you
could easily educate yourself.

<span style="text-decoration: underline;">4) Empowering Choice</span>

From step 3 we can see that even if you truly
don't know what to do, you do have resources
that you can call on in order to acquire this
knowledge.

Therefore, realize that you do have what it takes
to figure out what you need to do. Make the
choice to realize this.

If the time is right, you may even choose to take
action and begin your learning process.

Tap your empowering belief and choice in using
the EFT w/ Choices method.

<span style="text-decoration: underline;">5) Check</span>

Do a quick check.

When you say to yourself that you do have the
resources to figure out what you need to do
in order to become a millionaire...does that feel
true to you? Does that feel right?

If not, then ask yourself why...and possibly
tackle that belief using the same process.

That's it.

Now, if this belief is a deep seated one, you
may need to repeat this process a few times if
it comes up in future.

Again that's completely normal. The myth of
instant belief change is...well...just a myth.

Most of the time, beliefs we've had for a while
take some undoing, and that's ok...it's worth
the effort <img src='http://alltoosimple.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />

a TON of fun pursuing a new found love for the
art of Muay Thai (or Thai Boxing)...and getting
into the best shape of my life has been a nice
"side effect" <img src='http://alltoosimple.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> 

Today I want to share some of my very latest
breakthroughs in this skill and art of manifesting
success and happiness.

As you may have noticed from my last few videos,
I've started to make a strong move towards
"evidence based technologies"

...that's just a fancy way of saying "technology
that's been proven to work better than placebos
beyond a shadow of statistical doubt."

So today I'm going to share how this shift in my
thinking and research has led me to a very much
improved belief change model...which has been
working miracles with my private coaching clients.

Wihtout further ado, let me present the:
"<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Belief Buster Shortcut</strong></span>":

Activate affective system via compassion -&gt;
EFT "-" Emotional Glue -&gt; Mindful Rational
Investigation -&gt; Empowering Choice -&gt;
Check -&gt; Immediate Reinforcing Action

Let's break that down into steps...
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">1) Activate affective system via compassion</span>

Modern research on compassion has proved it's
pretty much miraculous effect on our well-being,
ability to change and willpower.

To put it all very simply...by starting with
compassion...and relating to the unwanted belief
with compassion we immediately feel better and
exponentially increase our chances of actually
changing it!
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">2) EFT "-" Emotional Glue</span>

Next up is to zap the negative emotions surrounding
the unwanted belief. 

Any emotions (even frustration at having it) help
keep it glued in there...so take care of them all.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">3) Mindful Rational Investigation</span>

All this point you'll be feeling a lot clearer and
have a ton more "space" around the belief.

Now is the perfect time to take a step back and
logically analyse the belief...and the various
assumptions that it's built on.

Rationally challenge the assumptions...pick holes
in them. Realize how the belief is possibly skewed
or just inaccurate.

To be mindful in this context means to see through
cognitive distortions that may have previously
clouded your thoughts and emotions.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">4) Empowering Choice</span>

Once you've rationally picked apart the distortions
and faulty assumptions unpinning the belief it's
time to install something positive and empowering.

Choose a more rationally sound belief or thought,
one that reflects reality better and hopefully
empowers you in the way you choose.

Also when making this choice, ensure that it creates
positive emotions within you.

Tap this choice in using the choices form of EFT.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">5) Check</span>

Check to see if the choice you made, and tapped in
is creating positive emotions and empowering you to
do what you want to do.

If not, treat it with compassion, EFT any lingering
negative emotions, apply mindful awareness and rational
thinking...and make a better choice.

Repeat until you have a belief that represents
reality and empowers you in the way you choose.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">6) Immediate Reinforcing Action</span>

Take immediate action that reinforces the new belief
or choice you just made...ideally this will be a very
small, easy step.

This maximizes your chance of following through
immediately which further cements the new belief within
your unconscious mind.

<p>Hope all is well. It&#8217;s been a while since my last<br />
mail. There&#8217;s a good reason for that.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m currently in Thailand (been here for 3 months<br />
or so actually) and have been learning Muay Thai.</p>
<p>Anyways, I&#8217;ve been getting so passionate about<br />
learning the art of Muay Thai that I decided to<br />
take a bit of break&#8230;hope you guys didn&#8217;t miss<br />
me tooo much <img src='http://alltoosimple.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>I recently send out a survey (and by the way, thank<br />
you for helping out with that)&#8230;and in that survey<br />
I learned that a lot of folks are interested in<br />
releasing emotions&#8230;presumably the negative ones.</p>
<p>Luckily this is something I&#8217;ve personally spent<br />
countless hours researching, experimenting, tweaking<br />
and teaching others to do. So let me share what I&#8217;ve<br />
learned&#8230;</p>
<p>1. Thoughts and emotions are &#8220;created&#8221; unconsciously<br />
and &#8220;pop&#8221; into consciousness.</p>
<p>Ok, here&#8217;s what I mean by that statement: You didn&#8217;t<br />
consciously choose to create that bad emotion, it<br />
happened automatically.</p>
<p>You want proof? Check out the Libet experiments on<br />
the neuroscience of free will.</p>
<p>Now that we accept premise 1, let&#8217;s put it to work.</p>
<p>So first off stop disapproving of yourself for having<br />
that thought or feeling that emotion in the first<br />
place. You didn&#8217;t choose to create it. It happened<br />
outside of your sphere of control.</p>
<p>Second acknowledge that once that thought or emotion<br />
pops up, you can&#8217;t take it back. It already happened.</p>
<p>Using the tools I&#8217;m going to share, and with<br />
repitition over time, you&#8217;ll be able to change those<br />
automatic thoughts and emotions&#8230;but for now&#8230;just<br />
this time&#8230;it&#8217;s already done.</p>
<p>2. You do have complete conscious control of your<br />
actions.</p>
<p>On the other hand&#8230;while you don&#8217;t choose which<br />
thoughts and emotions are unconsciously created&#8230;<br />
you do have control over your actions.</p>
<p>And in fact, science shows that by taking a specific<br />
action&#8230;you train your thoughts and emotions to be<br />
consistent with that action in the future.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s put this into practice.</p>
<p>Suppose you&#8217;re craving a piece of chocolate cake&#8230;<br />
but you&#8217;re on a diet. You&#8217;re wanting to release that<br />
craving.</p>
<p>Ok, so acknowledge that the craving is automatic and<br />
not your fault&#8230;it&#8217;s ok, it&#8217;s part of being human.</p>
<p>Now, use EFT to tap on the craving and using the<br />
Choices Method, make the choice to take action against<br />
eating the cake. Perhaps throw it away or give it to<br />
the neighbour&#8230;either will do.</p>

<p>3. Re-program those unconscious thoughts and emotions<br />
with consistent choices and actions.</p>
<p>Now, in order to make your life easier in the long run,<br />
you&#8217;ll want to get rid of those cravings&#8230;</p>
<p>There&#8217;s been a lot said about this and that technique<br />
for changing beliefs or negative thought patterns.</p>
<p>In my experience, all of those wonder techniques promise<br />
more than they deliver.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m going to share with you my personal approach which<br />
is based on modern neuroscience, my personal experience<br />
and the experience of my clients.</p>
<p>Firstly acknowledge that changing an automatic pattern<br />
will take time and consistent effort.</p>
<p>Next, whenever the undesired thought or emotion comes<br />
up tap on it with EFT and make a choice to act in the<br />
way that you deem to be in your best interest in the<br />
long run.</p>
<p>The EFT session is there to release the emotion and<br />
the choices segment is there to cement in the new<br />
action.</p>
<p>Then take the chosen action.</p>
<p>By consistently applying these 3 steps you&#8217;re rewiring<br />
your neurology to unconsciously create thoughts and<br />
emotions that support this new action!</p>
