Microsoft has finally outed the Windows Phone 8 Update 3 after making its fans wait for a long time. The update brings support for a lot of enhancements which were rather dubiously missing from the operating system for ages.

Visually, the OS has seen a minor overhaul. A total of six Live Tiles can be placed horizontally. Support for up to 6 inch displays has been brought, with resolution of up to 1920 x 1080 pixels. No signs of a unified notification history are seen but the Live Tiles are bit of a substitute to that anyway.

Support for advanced hardware has finally been brought. Qualcomm’s SnapDragon 800 processor is supported now, which should be enough for the already-fluid OS.

Nifty, useful things like separate ringtones for notifications, phone-calls, etc., screen-rotation lock, advanced storage management and a much-useful task manager which adds a button for directly closing apps are added.

Accessibility features for the blind is added to make using the phone easier by speaking commands out loud.

Microsoft has also increased support for third-party Bluetooth accessories. A new feature called Driving Mode keeps other notifications (read: distractions) at bay while you’re using your phone for its mapping services.

Lastly, the support. Unlike WP8, Windows Phone 8 GDR3 will be coming to existing phones, in the next few months. Nokia’s Lumias and a few HTC & Samsung-built Windows Phones should be getting this update soon.

At first, you should keep the following things ready:

Windows automated installation kit (WAIT)

USB 3.0

Microsoft Certified Windows 8 compatible USB or external hard drive of 32 GB or more capacity.

Windows 8 Enterprise sysprep generalized .WIM file Image

Step 1:

In your host machine (that is Windows 8 enterprise), connect the USB media to the system and set the authorized location for .WIM file image to be accessed by the user, either administrator or guest.

Step 2:

On the first day we bought our first android-based phone, we thought to ourself, "How nice it would be if we would be able to use the common 802.11 pwnage tools?"

We quickly relized that the thing that is missing is monitor-mode support for the Wi-Fi Modules.

For a long time we've waited for someone to take initiative and add support for monitor mode

This year, in our summer Vacation, we decided that we are going to add it ourselves.

Technical details

You might ask yourself why monitor mode is so very common among Laptop's & USB Wifi modules, and why there is not even one implementation of monitor mode for android devices.

The short answer is that most of the common smartphones use the same chipset made by broadcom, named bcm4329 or bcm4330, and broadcom never added the support for monitor mode.

The reason that those chips are so common in smartphones is that they combine every short-distance communication needed for those devices, and more importantly - they offload most of the protocol overhead to a dedicated processor, and communicates with the linux device with simple ethernet packets.

Project Overview

During the last 3 weeks, we decided to take the mission of understanding how this device works.

At first, we compiled the driver in debug mode, and noticed that the module strips the 802.11 headers in hw and sends only ethernet packets to the linux device.

We concluded that in order to receive full 802.11 frames, a change to the device firmware is needed.

So we started reverse engineering the firmware and after a few weeks we had a decent understanding of the packet receiving process.

Having this knowledge, it took us only a few more days to get a first working version of the monitor-mode-enabled firmware

Current Status

We currently have a patched firmware for the following chipsets:

bcm4329 - Fully working monitor mode on our Nexus One

bcm4330 - Fully working monitor mode on our Galaxy S II

We havent tested it yet, but if you have a phone with one of those chipsets (and you most probably have one), it should also work on your phone.

Create an APK bundle for "mass distribution"

6. Right-click on "Network Places" or "My Network Places" on your desktop.

You should now be on a screen with something titled "Local Area Connection", or something close to that, and, if you have a network hooked up, all of your other networks.

9. Double-click on the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" from the list under the "General" tab

11. Create an IP address (It doesn't matter what it is. I just type 1 and 2 until i fill the area up).
12. Press "Tab" and it should automatically fill in the "Subnet Mask" section with default numbers.
13. Hit the "Ok" button here
14. Hit the "Ok" button again

You should now be back to the "Local Area Connection" screen.

15. Right-click back on "Local Area Connection" and go to properties again.
16. Go back to the "TCP/IP" settings
--> 17. This time, select "Obtain an IP address automatically"

With a little practice, you can easily get this process down to 15 seconds.

Step2: Open your X-plore apps and Press 0(Zero) and check which you have marked the "show the system files"

Step3: Once you done that now go to the following path C:/Sys/Data/Mmcstore

Step4: Once you reached there you need to press "3" under option to set it in the Hex-viewer

Step5: See the third column you will able to see a line of code ! TMSD02G (c??"?x???6?2?6?2?6). Just check the character between the "?" it is your password ie: 62626
