Quite a while since the last update but hey… I have the heat to blame… ! No, there is actually no excuse but things are going crazy here the last weeks. It is the surge of work just before I hit the beaches for the summer.

While WebOffspring was kind of low on updates, I always find the time, even if I’m on the go, to be active on Twitter. I post regularly, several times a day, 7days a week, about all the webish things you are looking for when coming here. And [Continue...]

I’m amazed by the way Groupon has changed the way people see an age old scheme of coupons offerings. If you were living in an underwater city and you have just surfaced to solid ground and haven’t heard of Groupon before… then let me explain you what they do.

The concept

Every day, every single day, they feature a new business… and this business is offering it’s products or services with discounts of up to 90%. How is this even possible? They do it by driving hundreds or even thousands of customers [Continue...]

The time of the second bunch of applications that will supplement my Applications page has come…. I have already added 16 Billing and Invoicing applications that I’m sure you’ll find very useful.

Billing and invoicing software is an asset for every freelancer, startup or any other already established company or business. Many of these applications can also track time spent on a project and automatically bill your customers for your time while they can track and collect payments online. There are also applications that are supplemented by an iPhone or other [Continue...]

What a buzz the new iPhone 4 has made! The crowds are yelling!! Give it to us!!! Give it to us!! Not yet guys… In US you should wait a little longer till June 24… Rest of the world…. mid Summer.

But what was announced yesterday in Apples’s WWDC that we didn’t already know from the infamous Gizmodo leak last month? We sure have seen the thing before! But now we know it IS the real thing. It IS the final and not a prototype design.

I’m sure that you already know by now that Steve Jobs doesn’t like flash. Ok, this is not exactly how he said it… but close enough. (read about his thoughts on Flash). Either way, the fact is that iPhones and iPads doesn’t run Flash. Steve says that all sites should be developed in HTML5 and no flash is needed and flash drains your batteries and flash is the root of all evil, etc.

I won’t go into the discussion whether he is right or not [Continue...]

I always find it very interesting to read about different business ideas others have had and implemented, either online or offline (successful or not… you can learn from both). Lets face it… businesses around the world are trying to find the latest trends and fulfill people’s needs, making their lives easier, while making a profit in the process.

What’s more interesting is that learning about what others do is a very good way to see what their missing which could be your own way to success.

Long exposure photography is a technique that takes advantage of slow shutter speeds to capture light and movement and if used correctly can lead to amazing results. Long exposures are easiest to accomplish in low light conditions but the technique can be applied in brighter conditions too by using neutral density filters.

Slow shutter speeds can result in very interesting effects within the captured pictures, especially when the photographer captures moving light sources, such as car lights, which results in visible [Continue...]

I’m creating a new page today here at WebOffspring… Applications.

This is where I’m going to list mostly web based applications that I have used, noticed, stumbled upon and found interesting enough to share. There are going to be apps in various categories such as analytics, invoicing, productivity, organization, bug tracking, crm, etc… but I’m starting today with project management applications.

There are numerous other apps out there but this is just the beginning. I don’t plan to list each and every app I come accross, but I hope [Continue...]

Pay Per Review is exactly what you think it is. You are paid to write reviews about products or services. If you run a blog you probably review stuff more often than not, so why not to be paid for it?

There are numerous networks out there that can help you find stuff to review and be paid for your effort. What they do is to connect advertisers and publishers and if you have a blog of your own with some decent traffic you can take advantage of this kind [Continue...]

The question is this: Are these tips only for your next domain name? What if you don’t even have one? Well…these are for your first domain too… so you can keep reading!

You’d probably have read a lot (or none) about how to choose a domain name. I’ll try to sum it up in 9 tips and still keep or the flavor ;)

1. There is nothing like “.com”

Sure, you can choose any other domain you want but if you are in for business… don’t. There is only one exception. [Continue...]
