Two police cars, a bus and several shops were attacked and set on fire as looting spread to a retail park near Tottenham Hale tube station, where shop windows were smashed and goods plundered from stores.

Teenagers and adults were said to have turned up in cars and filled them with stolen items, unimpeded by police. Others arrived on foot and piled shopping trolleys with looted televisions and other electronic goods.

Police said 26 officers were injured, with two remaining in hospital on Sunday morning. Three members of the public were injured, with two still in hospital. Forty-two people were arrested for offences including violent disorder, burglary and theft.

Politicians united in their condemnation of the rioting. A Downing Street spokesman described the events as "utterly unacceptable".

Further down, the 1930s building once occupied by Carpetright was also gutted, its walls bowed and threatening to collapse.

There were once flats above there too. A watching woman, arms crossed, seemed close to tears. "They don't know if everyone got out."

On the evidence of what I have described it would be easy to say this is a bad place full of bad people. But it is not.

It is a poor place. Unemployment in some of the estates around where I live is among the highest in London.

Some of the housing is desperately run down, occupied – often for a short time – by the capital's poorest. It has few amenities for young people, which have become even fewer since the threat to close down 75% of the borough's youth clubs because of the government's austerity measures.

There is crime, which goes with all of the above.

It is a good place, a vibrant mixed community within earshot of Spurs' White Heart Lane stadium, which had been going through a slow regeneration.

"There is no justification for the aggression the police and the public faced, or for the damage to property," the spokesman said. "There is now a police investigation into the rioting, and we should let that process happen."

But as fire engines entered the street and began putting out blazing cars and buildings, the rioters spread north and west through back streets.

To the north, at Tottenham Hale, an Aldi supermarket was ransacked and set on fire. A nearby carpet shop was also set alight, causing a huge blaze.

Nearby, large groups of youths congregated in the surrounding streets, armed with sticks, bottles and hammers.

Some wore balaclavas and prevented cars from accessing streets as buildings were broken into. Others used large rubbish bins to create burning barricades across the road.

However, some of the most dramatic looting took place further west, in Wood Green, and continued into the early hours of the morning.

Earlier, officers on horseback and others in riot gear clashed with hundreds of rioters armed with makeshift missiles in the centre of Tottenham following the protest into the death of Mark Duggan, a 29-year-old father of four, who was shot on Thursday.

There was still no police presence in Wood Green High Road at 4am, even after dozens of stores had been smashed and raided, setting off multiple alarms.

Around 100 youths targeted game shops, electrical stores and clothing chains such as H&M.

Windows were smashed and the looters – mostly young men masking their faces – swarmed in and emerged with handfuls of stolen goods. "I've got loads of G-Star," said one teenager, coming out of a clothes shop.

Three teenagers ran down the street with suitcases filled with stolen clothes. Around 10 young men stood outside a smouldering Carphone Warehouse, the windows smashed. In suburban back streets, residential front-gardens were used to sort and swap stolen goods.

A teenage boy, who looked around 14, drove a stolen minicab erratically down a side street. On an adjacent street, a man who emerged from his home to find his car burnt out remonstrated with other young men, who ran past carrying clothes.

Passers-by, including people returning home in the early hours from nights out, were stunned to discover the lawless mayhem on the streets.

With no sign of any police, buses refused to take passengers through Wood Green High Road, and traffic was brought to a standstill.

"I like beating up on all the boys and everything and it might hit some of the boys a little harder that they're beat by girls a lot," Garren says with a laugh.

Danica Patrick believes girls do better because they concentrate more at her age.

As a rising Senior at Bremen High School, Ambree has played several sports and is hoping for a college scholarship in volleyball.

But Danica Patrick also hasn't given up on expanding her racing career.

"My dad, ever since I was little, he's drag raced and now that I'm old enough to drive, I would like to drag race at some point," said Garren.

"I'm a very competitive person, so it hits me a little hard if I lose," she added.

The Elysee palace confirmed a hacking attack had taken place on Tuesday night, but that the 'problem' had been fixed by 7am on Wednesday.

David Ngoombujarra Sudden Death - David Bernard Starr, who also goes by the name of David Ngoombujarra, was found in the car park behind St Patrick's Church in Fremantle on Sunday July 17 about 2.40pm.

David Ngoombujarra was born in Meekatharra in 1967 before being raised by a white family in Perth as David Bernard Starr.

After busking in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney in the 1980s David Ngoombujarra was given bit parts in the films Breaking Loose and Young Einstein.

But he shot to national attention with David Ngoombujarra performance as Pretty Boy Floyd in the 1993 feature film Blackfellas.

David Ngoombujarra also appeared in feature films Rabbit-Proof Fence and Australia, with director Baz Luhrmann speaking of his "extraordinary spirit, life force and creativity" during the shooting of the film.

David Ngoombujarra other films included Ned Kelly, Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles and Kangaroo Jack. His television credits include Heartland (ABC), Janus, Correlli, Harry’s War, The Games, The Potato Factory, Home and Away, Roll, Parallax, and his final screen role in The Circuit in 2010.

The sudden death of a celebrated Aboriginal actor in Fremantle this month is under investigation by police.

David Ngoombujarra was treated by members of the public until St John Ambulance staff arrived, however he passed away a short time later in Fremantle Hospital.

The 44-year-old, originally from Meekatharra, has appeared in a string of high profile films over David Ngoombujarra career spanning three decade, including Australia, Ned Kelly, Crocodile Dundee, Rabbit-Proof Fence and Kangaroo Jack.

Police are appealing for a person who told officers that they spoke with Mr Starr shortly before David Ngoombujarra death, to come forward with information.

Anyone else who spoke with Mr Starr on the day of his death is also urged to contact police.

Mr Starr has won three Australian Film Institute Awards for David Ngoombujarra roles in Blackfellas, Black and White and The Circuit.

"She wasn't just some hapless wannabe, yet another pissed up nit who was never gonna make it, nor was she even a ten-a-penny-chanteuse enjoying her fifteen minutes," he writes. "She was a f---ing genius."

Though London police have yet to determine the cause of Winehouse's death -- and have been quick to downplay any rumors of an overdose -- the singer's addiction problems were no secret and complications from drug use had left her debilitated.

"Whether this tragedy was preventable or not is now irrelevant. It is not preventable today," Brand writes. "We have lost a beautiful and talented woman to this disease. Not all addicts have Amy's incredible talent ... All we can do is adapt the way we view [addiction], not as a crime or a romantic affectation but as a disease that will kill."

Brand, who is now eight years sober, attends AA meetings three times a week in order to keep his addiction in check.

"To me, the gravity is heroin, and then death. You know, to sleep," he told Details magazine in May, "that incremental suicide of turning your life into a dream, to make being awake as similar to sleep as possible. Drowsily, lazily, dry-mouth your way through the day's ceremonies, fumble your way back into the dew-bather you never really left, draped in brown, brown now all around, the haze!"

At the time, Brand was barely out of rehab and failed to notice that they both shared an affliction, "the disease of addiction".

On hearing her sultry voice for the first time at a Paul Weller gig Brand said: "I arrived late and as I made my way to the audience through the plastic smiles and plastic cups I heard the rolling, wondrous resonance of a female vocal."

"My ears, my mouth, my heart and mind all instantly opened. Winehouse. Winehouse? Winehouse! That twerp, all eyeliner and lager dithering up Chalk Farm Road under a back-combed barnet, the lips that I'd only seen clenching a fishwife fag and dribbling curses now a portal for this holy sound."

Brand finished up his post with a plea to addicts suffering the same as Amy was.

He said: "Now Amy Winehouse is dead, like many others whose unnecessary deaths have been retrospectively romanticised, at 27 years old. Whether this tragedy was preventable or not is now irrelevant. It is not preventable today. We have lost a beautiful and talented woman to this disease."

"Not all of us know someone with the incredible talent that Amy had but we all know drunks and junkies and they all need help and the help is out there."

Mumbai Blast 2011 Victims Photos- The blasts at the Opera House and the adjoining Zaveri Bazar had ripped off several vehicles and damaged several shops. The traders have put their losses at an estimated 25 crore.

Rescue workers, the police and teams deputed by the diamond industry have plucked over 65 pieces of diamonds from the streets of the hub of precious stones in Mumbai - the Opera House , one of the three sites targeted by the terrorists on Wednesday.

The rush-hour blasts had ripped through the market injuring many possible diamond couriers, even killing some people from the traders association.

Jayesh Labdhi, a committee member of the Mumbai Diamond Merchants' Association told the media that they had recovered 65 gems and is considering auctioning them. "We have not yet evaluated their worth, but we will auction them and the money recovered would be used to help the blast victims and their families," he said.

Association's president Bharat Shah, however, said many traders were likely to try to trace property lost in the blasts by identifying recovered stones via their description, colour, clarity and purity.

He said losses to traders due to the rush-hour blasts had been minimised because torrential rain had prompted many people to leave for home early, leaving fewer diamond couriers on the crowded streets.

The probe into the triple bombings, in the meanwhile, continued with the police getting no major headway. A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team questioned Jalees Shakil Ansari, a convict in the 1993 Mumbai blasts, on Sunday and Monday at the Ajmer Central jail in connection with the Mumbai blasts.

Ansari, a medical doctor and a leader of the Ahle-Hadees sect, is serving a life term for his role in the 1993 blasts. He was arrested in 1994 in a joint operation by the Mumbai and Gujarat police. Ansari is also called 'Dr Bomb' because of his expertise in explosives and it is believed that he has trained several accused involved in various blasts across the country.

The NIA team also questioned Lashkar-e-Tayyeba operatives Shabir Ahmed and Mohammad Yasir who are also lodged in Ajmer jail. The sleuths also visited hotels in the neighbouring Pushkar where David Coleman Headley stayed.

The leads gathered out of the interrogation of Danish Riyaz, an IM operative lodged in an Ahmedabad jail in connection with the 2008 Gujarat blasts, have led the investigators to believe that SIMI may have played an important role in plotting the July 13 attacks.

The last week's raid in Ranchi (Jharkhand) house of a key Riyaz aide, Manzar Imam - a SIMI member, has led the investigators on the trail of at least a dozen other SIMI operatives from neighbouring states.

"Manzar is emerging as a mastermind of the Mumbai blasts for his suspected role in planning the execution," said a senior official associated with the Multi-Agency Centre. According to a senior Jharkhand police officer, Manzar may have fled to Nepal.
