Ariana Lyons and Rachelle Barrett were victorious in two races apiece to total four out of the seven events won by the Allegheny women’s swimming and diving team to help the Gators post a 164-130 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) win over Oberlin on Friday night.

The Allegheny women’s basketball team erased a 14-point deficit in the final 10 minutes of the second half and freshman Heidi Goeller drained the game-winning layup for a 58-57 comeback victory over Pitt-Greensburg in the opening round of the Allegheny Classic Tournament on Friday night.

Junior men's cross country runner Chris Marker was named the All-Mideast Region Athlete of the Year while Allegheny head coach Bill Ross received Mideast Region Coach of the Year honors as announced by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Men's cross country program to compete at Nationals for 18th time

The Allegheny College men’s cross country program reached unchartered waters on both individual and team levels during last Saturday’s Mideast Regional at Lehigh University. The Gators, who entered the meet ranked sixth in NCAA Division III, scored 59 team points and bested a field which included four other ranked schools. Meanwhile, Chris Marker became the first-ever individual regional champion in school history, finishing with an 8-kilometer time of 24:54.3.

The Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Allegheny Student Government (ASG) have designated the men’s and women’s swimming and diving meet against Oberlin on Friday night as the next “Gold Rush” game for the winter season.

Gator men's hoops ready to embark on '09-10 season

The Allegheny College men’s basketball team closed out the 2008-09 season by winning five of their last seven games and became the first seven- seed to beat a two-seed in the history of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament. During their late season run, the Gators recorded wins over three of the top four teams in the NCAC and won twice against second-place Ohio Wesleyan in a four-day stretch.
