Jeju Oh Il Sijang or Jeju Traditional Five Days Market is one of the best place to visit if you are travelling in Jeju. You won't miss it because there's a sign going to the market.

One of the most exciting things to do when travelling is to visit the markets to learn and see the countries culture and what people eat. At first I wasn't interested in going to the market when we travel. I thought it wasn't fun at all but I realized it's the best and most interesting thing to do when travelling. You can see lots of unique stuffs and there are different kinds of food to try.

Although Jejudo is just a part of Korea, I couldn't eat different kinds of food because we lived near the beach where there aren't lots of restaurants that serve delicious food specially street food. Because Jeju is a place for tourists most restaurants don't serve as delicious as in the mainland. They are the kind of restaurants that say hello, eat here and goodbye! Which means you can't come back here anymore so I don't care if it's delicious or not. Goodbye!

So before we left Jeju we decided to visit Oh il sijang. "Oh" (means five) "il" (day) "sijang" (market) to eat snacks or street food that most koreans enjoy. We had hotteok and odeng here. I also bought corn on the next store.

We had tuikkim or fried octopus here. It's delicious and cheap.

My hubby said that he felt in love with me when he saw my eyes. I can say that my eyes are one of my assets. It's not only my hubby who told me that I have beautiful eyes but also most of my friends or people that I meet. Sometimes, they think that my eyelashes are not real so they are trying to pull them. They don't believe that they are real so I sometimes let them touch my eyelashes. Since I was in high school, my friends told me that I have tantalizing eyes. You won't believe if I tell you that my hubby kissed my eyes first before my cheeks or lips. I can say that until now my hubby still feels in love with me because of my eyes. I know they are still one of the reasons that's why I have to take care of my eyes. But now, I think I'm having trouble because I feel that I'm having an eye problem. My eyes are teary and feel dirty. Do you think I need Lasik Eye Surgery? Just because I don't want to wear glasses or contact lenses.

I heard a lot about Lasik Surgery and I'm glad that there are ways to make our eyes normal again. I just can't stand wearing glasses. It's so uncomfortable and I don't want to hide my eyes because as what I said, they are my assets. Wearing contact lenses are also uncomfortable. Besides, I heard that it's also dangerous to wear them specially when you are close to fire.

Anyway, I need to check out this Lasik Eye to get some information and learn more about them by reading some guides.

Korean Drama

I'm so crazy about Korean drama. That drama that I missed when I left for Canada. Now, that I'm back, I'm enjoying watching the replay of Korean drama although I was still confused on how things happened because I missed a lot of series. Anyway, I'm still catching and still enjoying watching them and I'm glad that they are sometimes shown on cable and sometimes they replay them on weekends.

If my hubby missed Korean food when we were in Canada, I missed Korean drama a lot. While my hubby enjoys the food, I'm enjoying the drama. hehehe...

Vacation in Morocco

For travelers like us, spending a lot of money is just normal. My hubby said he doesn't care and doesn't feel burden when he buys ticket, spend money for accommodations and food. He said he doesn't think it's a waste of money when he spend thousands of bucks for our flight or vacation to another country. We've been to many places around the World and I can say that you can't have a vacation in another country if you don't have enough money to spend specially in some part of America and Australia. While we were on plane on our way home, my hubby asked where I wanted to go again. I can't say anything because I still don't have in mind on where to go. But after seeing this Luxury Hotel Marrakech, I suddenly thought that Morocco is also a best place to visit. The hotels looks luxurious that I really wanted to stay even in just a day. The hotels look relaxing and luxurious. I think I will feel like a princess if I stay there. Don't you want to experience on how to live like a princess? The interior of the rooms are so elegant. They look perfect if you're finding a relaxing, comfortable and elegance rooms.

I have stayed in many hotels and guesthouses in some countries but the rooms of Riads in Marrakech are fantastic. You feel that you are staying in a paradise. You can also have a magical experience in the spa or eat luxurious food in the restaurant.

For our next vacation, I wish I can go to Morocco and stay in Luxury Riads Marrakech. I can't wait for our next vacation. I think this vacation is so different from my other vacations. Just looking the pictures of Luxury Riads makes me feel so excited.

Korea, here I come!

Yeap! Vacation is over! I'm back to Korea with my hubby. It's good to go on vacation but it's also great to be home. My hubby miss Korean food a lot! There are Korean restaurants and shops in Canada but the taste and the quality is different specially Kimchi. He made a list of food that he wanted to eat when he comes back.

We've just arrived in Korea this early morning. We were tired but we were happy to be back. The weather is so great! It's sunny and warm. It's much different in Vancouver where we've been because it's still cold there and it rains a lot.

Ahhhh, i'ts true that there's no place like home! Korea, here we are again!

Lodge in Jeju Island

We stayed in Jeju Island for almost a year. We were looking for a place to live in so my hubby dialed the numbers that he saw on the net. We were about to rent an apartment but he said we have to see one more accommodation because he already made an appointment to the owner. He said it is a lodge and it's near the beach. We like the apartment but we didn't make a contract yet but we told the owner that we would come back on that same day.

The lodge owner kept calling us so we decided to meet him at the famous beach in Jeju Island. From the beach it was just two minutes away drive to the lodge. The lodge gave us a good first impression. It looks like we are in another country. We checked out inside and we made a deal and signed a contract for a year. So here's our lodge in Jeju Island for almost a year.

We were about to stay here for a year. We paid our one year monthly rent but after 10 months we decided to leave. There was nothing to do anymore because we saw almost everything in Jeju Island. Anyway, the owner was too kind to us and he gave back the two months payment. He was too kind from the beginning until we left.

Time for Fishing

We love traveling and doing some adventures in Korea and other part of the World. We have traveled in some part of Asia and Australia and now we are traveling here in Canada. But now we are tired or traveling so my hubby wants to do something new. Before, we liked to go camping so we bought a tent, sleeping bags, chairs, utensils, and all stuffs that we need for camping. It was good at first. We were always excited when we go out for camping but not now. My hubby thought about of doing something new so I suggested him to play golf. He said, he doesn't want to play golf because it's doesn't look fun and it's just expensive. Then I suggested him to go fishing and he said it was a great idea. Actually, we've been thinking of going fishing before we bought the tent.

If we go fishing, of course we need fishing rods and I think these sage rods are cool. I've never seen as cute as the sage rods before. Besides it's extremely light so I think it's the best rod for me.

And what do you think of these hardy rods? I think they look good and they are also perfect for my hubby. I'm so excited to go home so I can go fishing with my hubby. We can go camping and fishing at the same time. Wow~ it's another adventure! It sounds so much fun! Besides, through fishing, you can relax, enjoy and save much because you can eat the fish that you caught. And that's the best thing, I think!

Well, I have to let my hubby know about the fishing rods. He has to choose with the hardy rods or winston rods. Both are the best. It's hard to choose so I'll just let my hubby choose the one that he likes.

A Sign from Gary of Runningman

I was at work training the new worker when somebody came and asked if he could use the bathroom in the hotel where I worked for. He looked nice so I said yes and showed him the washroom in the office. He smiled and he said he would come back. After a few minutes, he came back with Gary. As soon as my co-worker saw him, she recognized him. So we waited until he came out of the bathroom. It really was Gary of Runningman, a South Korean famous variety show that is on every Sundays.

My co-worker prepared a pen and paper and asked if she could get a sign. He asked her name and signed. I said me too! So he asked my name and gave me this.

While he was going out we saw his name at the back of his shirt so we asked if they are making a video of their show. He said yes. So it's the Runningman whose making film outside. We just saw from morning that there were many people and cars parking at the beach and there are also big cameras. We just wondered what kind of film they are making again at the beach which is just in front of our hotel but when we knew that it was runningman, we got so interested that we couldn't work well.

When my boss came, he said he would go out to see the casts of the show. I asked are you going alone? Then, he said let's go together if you want. So, I and my new co-worker that I was training went with him. They were already leaving but we saw them inside the car. I saw Kim Jong-kook, Lee Kwang-su, Ji Suk-jin, Ha-ha and Song Ji-hyo. Unluckily, I didn't see Yu Jae-suk, the leader of the team and the most famous Korean MC.

My co-worker was about to take a picture of them with her cellphone but the staffs stopped her so I didn't try to take them a picture either.

Teddy Bear Museum in Jeju Island

Teddy Bear Museum is one of the best attractions in Jeju Island. It is where you cand find everything about bears! I love teddy bears and this museum has thousands types of bears. Of course I won't leave Jeju Island without visiting the Museum again. After 10 years, I finally visited the museum again.

This teddy bears couple will greet you at the entrance where you pay your admission fee.

With lots of bears inside, it's hard to choose which one have to look first. You can't just stay in one place because your eyes will stare to another teddy bears that most of them look awesome.

Here are group of bears singing, dancing or look like performing in an opera.

There are lots of bears in group who act like people. This bears are demonstrating for Love and Peace! It seems like they are real. They are so cute!

Have you ever seen Monalisa Bear? Except Monalisa, there are lots more.

The 125 Karat Bear and Little Elephant. I wonder how much the bear is. The bear is wearing 125 Karat necklace.

This one great! I thought it was nothing at first but I suddenly heard a song. Goodness! The bears are holding a wedding ceremony. The bears appear according to their role. Look at the clock!

And look at this picture! The wedding couple appeared from the clock. It's fantastic if you see it in person. It's so romantic!

There's also the Elvis Presley Shop and Theater at Jeju Teddy Bear Museum. Here, you'll see the fantastic performance of the bears based on "Aloha from Hawaii", a concert performed by Elvis Presley in Honolulu, Hawaii on January 14th, 1973.

When the curtains open, Elvis Presley Bear sings and dances with other bears. It's another interesting thing in Teddy Bear Museum. You must see it! It doesn't take long.

Jusangjeollidae or Columnar Joints

Columnar Joints at Jeju Jungmun Daepo Coast or Jusangjeollidae are rocky cliffs that run for about 2km along the coast line from Jungmun Dong to Daepo Dong in Seogwipo. They were formed by the cooling and solidification of basalt flows from the Nokhajiak volcano from 14,000 to 25,000 years ago.

Jusangjeollidae is a pillar-shaped joint formed by basaltic lava. As high-temperature basaltic lava cools, it shrinks in volume often producing a columnar joint. When viewed from the top, four to six sided polygonal columns of basaltic rocks can be observed. Basaltic columns of 25m in height look like a regular stack or pillars, which can be called the nature's masterpieces.

Columnar jointing arises from contraction of molten lava during cooling, which splits the rocks into polygonal columns. Columns typically have 5-6 sides, with each side being a separate joint. A collection of adjacent columns is often referred to as a "colonnade", and cooling cracks closely spaced in irregular patterns are known as "entablatures".

Jusangjeollidae is also a great place for taking a walk. The site is not only famous for the columnal joints in the sea but it also has a great view which is a perfect place to relax.

This seashell shape outside also caught my attention. I think the two hajumas don't have any plan to stand up.

Oedolgae or Lonely Rock

This solitary basalt formation is called Oedolgae or Lonely Rock. It was formed at a time of volcanic activity as a geyser-like eruption spewed forth from beneath the earth's surface and solidified. It is 20 meters in height and 10 meters in circumference.

Near the close of Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392), General Choe-yeong was in Jeju to suppress the Mongols who had occupied the island from 1218, the Mongol forces made their final and fatal stand on Beomseom (Tiger Island) which is seaward from Oedolgae.

Another name of Oedolgae is General Rock which comes from a legend that General Choe-Yeong disguised the rock to appear like a giant military general and the Mongol's took it as a well established battle lines. The enemy soldiers were so terrified that they all committed suicide. It is also called namju haegeumgang because that Oedolgae stands in Goseok Harbor which surrounded by the screen-like jagged cliffs or Uduam or Seonnyeo Bawi.

The famous TV drama Daejanggeum was filmed here. Daejanggeum (Jewel in the Palace) is a TV Series with a record-high viewership in 2003. It is based on a true story about a girl living 500 years ago in Jeseon Dynasty. Despite numerous adversities in reality. Seon Jang-geum (by Lee Young Ae) made her own way with her excellent medical skill and profound knowledge and ultimately was given by King Jungjong the title of Dae Janggeum which mean The Great Janggeum. Oedolgae is a shooting location for the scene where her mentor, Court Lady Han (by Yang Mi-gyeong), was dying on her back on way to exile on a false charge.

Samseonghyeol or Caves of the Three Clans

Yesterday, we visited Samseonghyeol (Samsunghyeol) or called as the Caves of the Three Clans in English. According to legend, the forefathers of the Go, Yang and Bu clans emerged from these caves to become the original Jeju islanders. They supposedly lived by hunting until they married three princesses of the Byeongnang Kingdom who taught them agriculture.

It is said that they founded the Tamna Kingdom. In 1526, the 21st year of the reign of King Jungjong (1506-1544). Lee Su-Dong, the governor of the island, had an altar, a crimson gate and a wall erected around the caves and began offering spring and autumn memorial services. Today, these services are still held along with a memorial service celebrating the founding of the island.

Samseonghyeol is the legendary birthplace of Jeju island native founders. Samsinin (Three Gods) named Go Eulna, Yang Eulna, Bu Eulna were born the same time at the Samsunghyeol place. They lived for hunting life and engaged three princesses of Byeokrangguk whose brought horses, castles and various kinds of grains.

Particulary, there remain three holes known as the spots where these three founders came out. At the site of about 21,000 square meters of luxuriant forest, there is amseongjeon. Bunhyangso (a place of offering incense), Jeonsacheong, and Sungbodang (a memorial home for Confucianist services to honor distinguished scholars and statesmen) surrounding these three holes.

The holes are forming triangular shape together and do not get wet by rain drops or snow. Trees surrounding them look as if they are bowing the three founders which amazes visitors.

Samsunghyeol is also a great place for taking a walk and meditation specially in summer. The cool breeze of the trees and the singing birds are one of the things that I like the most in Samsunghyeol. It's so relaxing to take a walk or just sit down at the cottages or benches under the trees.

There's a small museum inside where you can see some of the clothes, utensils, and materials used by the clans.

This is where they do the memorial services.

There's a free movie for 14 minutes. I recommend you to watch the movie to understand well about the legend.

Make Korean Passport

Me and my hubby went to the Government Office yesterday to make our Korean passports. We already have ones but we needed different passport if we visit the US although it's not sure yet that we are going there but still we need to prepare just in case that we can visit there. They said we need electronic passports if we go to the US. I didn't know that people going to the said country use different passports. The passports that we have now aren't expired yet because our passports guaranteed for 15 years. As you know, when we make passports we need to choose on how long we want our passports to be valied. There are one year, 5 years, 10 years and 15 years. Of course the longer years you choose, the more money you have to pay.

We don't care about the money that we are going to pay, what we care about are the stamps on our passports. We love our passports now because they have lots of stamps from different countries. Stamps of visas from the countries that we've visited so if we change our passports, it seems like we have to start our travel again. It just feel good when we go to the immigration at the airport and the worker give stamps to our passports and there aren't lots of questions to be answered because they can see that we've traveled a lot so it's okay to stay in the country. I mean the stamps say everything, that we came to the country to travel and not for any bad reasons like staying illegally or what.

Anyway, the worker at the government office told us to take another photo for our passports because the photos that we had are the same photos on our present passports. Oooppsss... it's just also now that I found out that they also have the copy of our passports on their computer. Wow~...

Well, because of the denying of our photos we are thinking now if we take pictures and go back to the office and make electronic passports or just give up going to the US. You know how much we love our passports now and we have to think twice about it.

Propose with a Diamond Ring

Before Koreans get married, girls or boys get proposal from their partners. Of course it's not unusual for girls to propose to their loveones. Which is a little strange for me when I first came here. But after living in Korea for more than 10 years, I got used to it. It's just normal to see a woman propose to a man even the celebrity ladies give proposal to men. It's true that even men can receive proposal which is unusual to some other countries. Or is it only happen in Korea? Giving proposal needs lot of preparation like lights, candles, flowers, balloons, cakes, etc. like what I always see on TV. And of course the ring is always present on every proposal events. They are the ladies' weaknesses specially diamonds. So, if you prepare diamond engagement rings for your loveone, your proposal is 95% if not a hundred percent to be accepted. Last Day at Work

It's my last day at work. Finally, my boss hired a new worker. I trained her for three days and today was the last day of her training so it was my last day at work. The new worker was worried to work without me but I'm sure she will get used to it. Her job is not that hard but it seems like she's afraid of answering a phone call which I also used to.

My boss told me her to call whenever she is in trouble or whenever there's something that she doesn't know about her job. He told her that I know more than my boss because he trusted me and left everything in me when it comes to office work. My boss also asked me a favor to answer a phone call when its from them. Of course, I do. I'm also glad that my boss trusted me with that job for almost a year eventhough I didn't have any experience.

Before I left my boss shook my hands and he said he was grateful that I have worked with him and he said I did a great job. He also told me to come anytime.

Btw, he asked me for a dinner with my hubby but I rejected it. I said my hubby is busy. He said just let him know anytime so he can treat us for dinner before we leave the Island. Well....

Training a Newly Hired Worker

I was so busy at work today because I'm training a new worker. She's the one who will replace me. Thanks goodness! After more than a month my boss finally hired one. She used to work in a bank and it seems like she will do well because the paper works are a little similar to her former job. It's not hard to train her. She's so interested with her new job so she learns easily. It's also good that she came because I wasn't bored the whole day. She said she wanted to work with me. But that's impossible because my boss won't hire her if I'm not leaving. hehehe...

She likes her job but it seems like she can't work longer. She has a kid so she got a phone call many times from kindergarten telling that her daughter cried a lot in school so the principal wanted her to come. Also, she told me that she's pregnant. Oh, gosh! I'm still glad that she came so I can leave. I don't care if she quits a few days later at least I'm already out. hehehe...

Btw, my boss told me to train her for three days. Hew~

It's time for a vacation

We already booked for our next vacation but my hubby still checks out the site where he made a reservation for our plane ticket. He said the prices of the plane tickets are getting increased now a days. He thought he made the right decision to book earlier because he got the ticket much cheaper than if he will book now. But that's what he thought because he doesn't know about this travel discounts and savings where we can save much more than we expected even if he will book days before our trip. I can't believe that we can save up to $465 for our book flight and hotel. Although we already booked for our flight and hotel, still I'm so glad that I found the best site for travelers like us. We love traveling and I was amazed with the deals that we could get for our next vacation. I'm working with the travel agencies but I think no one could ever offers much travel discounts or deals than the site that I've just found out.

Sam il jeol

Today is Sam Il Jeol which literally translates Three-One-Movement. Three stands for March and One for 1st so it means March 1st Movement or known as Independence Movement Day. It is called Samil-jeol in Korean. It's a national holiday. It commemorates the Declaration of Independence proclaimed on March 1, 1919.

On this day, lots of taegukki or Korean flags are hanging on the trees specially on the roads and buildings. There are also flags in some houses and apartments. Others buy and some get from the government office for free.

Wow~ look at this Korean flag tree. I don't know how Koreans celebrate the Independence Movement Day except the flags hanging on trees or buildings. So, if you see flags hanging, you know it's Sam il jeol.

Last Day

Last day of the month and supposed to be my last day at work. But until now my boss couldn't hire someone to replace me. Anyway, whatever! I'm just gonna work until this week. That's what I've told to my boss. There's still three days to go so I hope my boss can find someone who can work here. Someone called yesterday and I told her to come here by 2p.m. with her resume. I also called my boss to come at 2p.m. to interview an employee. My boss came in the office and asked me where the employee lives. When I told him that he lives around this area and he told me to call and tell her not to come. I think he doesn't want to hire someone who lives here because they know him well. Anyway, whatever his reason is. I don't care as long as I can quit this week or else my hubby would get angry again. hehe..

Btw, for those who have birthdays today. Happy Bday! I think this year, is your lucky year because after four years, your bday finally came again. I'm glad that Feb. 29th isn't my bday.

Save our Future

I'm quitting my job. I'm gonna leave the Island soon because we are going to travel around the United States. We have thought about it many times before we finalized our decision. Although we planned to travel in Canada, we never thought of going to the US but since Canada is near the United States, I think our vacation is not complete without visiting the near country. We have been to some other parts of Asia and Australia but it's our first time in the US so i'm so excited.

We love traveling and we never left the country without getting International Health Insurance whenever we go on vacation. Wherever we go, we have to make sure that we are safe and insured. No matter how careful we are, accidents and emergency situations sometimes happen so we must be always prepared and ready specially when we are not in our own country.

Red Cabbages Farm

They are called red cabbages in Jeju. But I don't think they are red. They look maroon or purple. If you put something on your cooking, the red cabbage soup is very dark. It's my first time to see them. I've been going to the big market like homeplus, e-mart, lotte mart, etc and I've never seen such a cabbage like the red cabbage. Only here in Jeju that I saw one. Besides, I saw them in the farm while taking a walk with my hubby at one of the walking courses here in Jeju. It is on course 15 or 16, if I'm not mistaken. I was so surprised! They are so beautiful.

Look! Doesn't it look like a flower? Since then, the walking course became my favorite course because of the beautiful vegetables planted in the farm. They are lots of vegetables that I never knew before until I came here in Jeju.

Wow~ Jeju seems to be like another country because of its different weather and lots of fruits and vegetables that can't ever see in the mainland.

Spring Rain in Jeju

After winter, spring comes. We know that spring is just around the corner when it rains. It's what they called spring rain or "Beom bi" in Korean. Jejudo island has a very good weather. It's not hot in summer and it's not cold in winter compare to other cities in Korea. In summer, the temperature doesn't exceed to 30 degrees celcius and in winter, there's no negative or minus degree celcius. Last night, while watching a weather forecast, the newscaster said that the rain yesterday was a beom-bi or spring rain. Wow! Is that mean that spring is coming soon? Wow, that's why it's not too cold today. I can't wait for spring to come. I hope I can quit my job soon so I can go out and visit all around Jeju again before we leave the Island.

Speaking of quitting, I was about to tell my boss again that I would just work here until next week. My co-workers are worried that they have to do my job. They said it's a big burden for them. They don't have the guts to do my work specially when it comes to account, receiving phone calls and computer works.

I feel so sorry for them but I have to quit or else my hubby would get angry with me.

Seonun Temple

Seonun Jeongsa or Seonun Temple or Monastery is one of the best route that we like when I take a walk with my hubby. It's one of the best walking course in Jeju, I think.

The best thing about the Seonun Temple in Jeju is the golden bell. I think it's one of the symbol that made the temple famous.

What I like the most are the trees with full of fruits. They are the first things that caught my attention. I really want to pick one. I waited for someone in the temple to pass by so I could ask for one. When someone did, I was shy so I just left the temple craving for the fruits. hehe..

Is there anyone here who wants to work in the Island? It's already three weeks now since I told my boss that I'm gonna quit. It seems like I can finish this month without anyone to replace me. Ahhhhh... Is there anyone in the Island? I have to quit my job until the end of this month or much better if I could quit right away. As soon as possible specially now that the weather is not good enough. I want to stay on my bed until late in the morning or just lie down and watch TV at home. Anyway, even if there's no one to replace me, I have to quit by the end of this month because we are leaving next month. But before we leave, my hubby wants to visit around Jeju Island for the second time.

I just hope that someone will come. I have to wait until next week. Please! Please!
