So the 2010 Super Bowl Champion has been decided. If you have been following along in the Sports news or with allsports for sports on the web you will know that as allsports predicted in his previous post titled “The Super Bowl is almost upon Us” wriiten back on Feb 6 2010, the New Orleans Saints were victorious over the Indianapolis Colts, laying claim to the 2010 Super Bowl with a 31-17 victory.

The Colts owned the first quarter and built up a 10-0 lead but in the second eventual Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees and the Saints found their stride and moved the ball. They had to settle for a couple of field goals and went in for half time trailing 10-6.

The turning point as far as allsports is concerned happened at the start of the third quarter when the Saints recovered their onside kick at their own 42 yard line. Brees then marched his team 58 yards for the go ahead touchdown. Peyton Manning then counter punched with a TD score of his own to put the Colts back on top 17-13.

The Saints then came back with eleven unanswered points to get back on top. Manning tried to rally his troops but had a pass intended for Reggie Wayne picked off by Porter who ran it back 74 yards for the TD to put the game away. It was the only turnover of the day.

Brees set a Super Bowl record by completing 32 passes.

So the big game is just a day away. Who do you think will win? If you have followed the sports news or sports on the web you will know that it is the AFC champion Indianapolis Colts against the upstart NFC champion New Orleans Saints.  The reason allsports calls them the upstarts is because the Saints have never been here before in their 43 year history.

So who do you think will win? The Colts with the experience of Peyton Manning and his game management or the shoot the lights out style of Drew Brees and his Saints teammates.

The Colts are favored by 5 points and allsports would take those points and go with the Saints. Here is the reasoning behind the decision. First all pro defensive end Dwight Freeney suffers from a torn ankle ligament. Freeney is the Colts weapon to attack Drew Brees. Even if he does play you will have to wonder how effective he will be.

Next, the Saints Offensive line did a very good job a couple of weeks ago protecting Drew Brees from the Vikings strong pass rush. Freeney not being in there or playing with the injury will make the job easier for them so allsports expects Brees to have time to get the ball to his big receiving corpse. Add the fact that the Saints receivers are quite a bit bigger than the Colts defensive backs and this may make it so Brees can just throw the ball up and have the receiver come down with it.

Of course the wild card in all of this is Manning who is usually so composed during the game. If he gets time in the pocket the Saints could be in trouble. The question is whether the Saints underrated defence can hold the Colts on offence.

Can Drew Brees keep his composer in the big game and distribute the ball effectively. If he can establish a running game with his weapons in the backfield allsports likes the Saints chances.

So allsports take on the game is, take the Saints and the points.

So if you have been following the Tiger Woods drama in the sports news or sports on the web you would have heard the rumblings that Tiger Woods is coming out of his self appointed golf exile to play in the Dubai Desert Classic.

Well good for you Tiger, you may as well come back and start making back your millions considering your wife is going to take you to the cleaners in divorce court. After all your statement about quiting golf so you could concentrate on your marriage was a little weak and to be frank, too little too late. Even if she did take you back there would be no trust in the relationship anyway and without trust there is no relationship.

Allsports has never been a Tiger Woods fan and has always thought of him as a pompous, arrogant man-child that just happens to hit a golf ball better than anyone else on the planet. But to the die hard Tiger fans out there he has lost much of his luster. Some could even say they feel betrayed by his antics of late.

So Tiger take heed of what Tom Watson said and I quote.” Tiger Woods needs to show some humility to the public”. Allsports could not agree more with Watson. Maybe if he does and comes clean, which he should have done in the first place instead of running and hiding, he might get some of his loyal fans back. But his antics have hurt the integrity of the game

As for allsports, I hope “old lefty”, Phil Mickelson mops the course with your sorry ass.

So the new Toronto Maple Leafs made their much anticipated debut last night at the ACC. If you follow the sports news or sports on the web you will find that Jean-Sebastien Giguere shut the door on the New Jersey Devils with a 3-0 shutout victory.

J.S Giguere was not the only star in this game as both newly acquired Dion Phaneuf and Freddie Sjostrom also received game star honors. Sjostrom assisted on Nikolai Kulemin’s opening goal and played well, being noticed for his effectiveness when penalty killing. Phaneuf made sure the Devils had their heads up when coming through the neutral zone. A couple of big hits and a fight near the beginning of the game for Phaneuf made his teammates take notice and play a spirited game.

With Phaneuf, the Leafs get their stud defenceman that will keep the opposition honest and with J.S Giguere they get a goalie who is steady, consistent and does not get rattled. J.S Giguere never really gives up a weak goal which is something the Maple Leafs have lacked since the Ed Belfour days.

Allsports believes that the Maple Leafs will make Dion Phaneuf the team captain before the start of next season.

So are you Maple Leaf fans out there paying attention to the sports news or sports on the web? Brian Burke has been a busy boy the last few days. The Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames both got a face lift yesterday when Burke and Darryl Sutter negotiated a blockbuster deal.

Going to Calgary are Matt Stajan, Nick Hagman, Jamal Mayers and  Ian White. Hagman was the only Leaf under contract for next year. Allspports was sorry to see White go but you have to give something up to get anything back and the other three players will help to shore up Calgary’s forward lines.

In return, Toronto gets Deon Phaneuf, forward Fredrik Sjostrom, and defenceman Keith Aulie. Phaneuf was the center piece in the Deal and Burke had been trying to land him for some time now. Aulie is the dark horse here as he is only 21 and played for Canada”s junior team last year. At six feet six inches this kid could be a bruising NHL defenseman for years to come. Sjostrom is a steady player with speed that also played in the world junior for Sweden a few years back. The deal could benefit both teams as Calgary will bolster their forward line up and the Leafs get their franchise blueliner in Phaneuf who palys with an edge and has one of the hardest shots in the league. At 24 Phaneuf has many great years ahead of him but his 6.5 million salary may have been a bit much for the Flames to handle.

Burke was also busy on another front, sending Jason Blake and Vesa Toskala to the Anaheim Ducks for J.S. Giguere.

Giguere could be the Leafs number one goalie but will also be of great value in mentoring Jonas Gustavsson. Toskala will be a good back up for the Ducks and needed to get out of Toronto. Blake’s speed will help the Ducks and he always worked hard in Toronto but never saw the results on the score sheet. So again there is merit for both teams.

So with not alot going on in sports news or sports on the web allsports was looking around to see what might tweak his interest for a post. I mean I could write about the Toronto Maple Leafs but that ship is starting to get quite redundant. The Maple Leafs have lost four straight by the way and are in New Jersey tonight to face Martin Brodeur and the Devils. Good luck with that but they may surprise me. They win some they should not and loose when they should win.

Anyway today I thought I would talk about the Buffalo Bills who happen to be the closest NFL team to my home location, in fact they played a home game in Toronto this year.

I’m sure by now that if you follow the sports news or sports on the web you know that the Bills hired a new head coach back on January 19th by the name of Chan Gailey. He became the 15th coach in the teams history. Now allsports does not claim to know everything about football, hockey and lacrosse are more of my fortay but I had no clue as to who this guy was.  That is what makes the new age of the Internet so good, you can find information in an instant.

So while surfing about I ran across a video on Youtube that I thought was quite comical. His or her for that matter has a user name of BuffaloGraffiti and allsports thinks by the jist of the video that the user is pissed that the Bills hired Gailey when he wanted Bill Cowher. Cowher by the way decided to remain in the broadcast booth. Can you blame him? The reason he quit coaching the Steelers was so he could spend more time with his family.

So here we are, down to two teams for the NFL’s ultimate prize. If you have been following along at home for sports news or sports on the web, you will be aware that allsports was 2 for 2 in picking the conference champions, check it out with my previous post titled,  “Intriguing matchups in the NFL Conference Championships“, written back on January 22nd.

In the AFC the Cinderella Jets luck finally ran out. The Colts took over the game in the 3rd quarter and held the Jets running game off. Was it good coaching to make adjustments at the half? or was it more that the great Jets secondary suffered injuries to two of their starters in the first half. I guess maybe a bit of both. Manning managed his team and the clock to avoid the irony of defeat by breathing life into the Jets during the regular season.

The NFC Championship was a great game and required overtime to decide it. In the OT Farve and the Vikings were looking good and within field goal range to win it. They decided to try and get a bit closer and Farve threw an interception. The Saints marched the ball down field and kicked the winning field goal.

So now we have the Colts and Saints as the NFL survivors. Will the Saints be able to overcome all the hype and fanfare considering it is their 1st time in the show. Manning and company have been there once so they know what to expect.

Peyton Manning will be playing against his home town team considering his dad, Archie Manning was the Saints quarterback from 1971 to 1982. Archie was taken second overall in the 1971 NFL draft by the Saints.

So the stage has been set and the Colts look like the early favorite. Can the experience of Peyton Manning hold off the exuberance of the Saints. Both teams are hungry for the prize and there should be plenty of points put up on the board.

Allsports is leaning towards a Saints victory and their first Super Bowl win. Their fans and the City of New Orleans deserve some good news.

If you have been following the NFL for sports news or sports on the web you will know by now that just four teams have been left standing after last weeks games. Who will come out of their respective conference to get the chance at the ultimate prize? The Super Bowl and the Vince Lombardi Trophy

The Cinderella New York Jets travel into Indy to take on the Goliath Colts. This game could prove to have a good helping of irony in it as well. In week 15 of the season the Colts could have put the Jets out of their misery but instead they elected to rest a bunch of their starters. The Jets came back and won the game to prolong their season. Allsports would like nothing better than for the Jets to knock off the Colts and carry on to the Super Bowl. It would make a great story line but alas even though the heart is willing for the Jets to win, the head is telling me that Mr. Manning and company will come through and move on to represent the AFC. Hopefully the Jets will prove me wrong yet again.

The game between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints is stacking up to be a great in your face football game. The Vikings seem to have the advantage although slightly at most of the positions. What you can’t count on is the home field crowd. You can be sure that the Saints faithful in attendance on Sunday will be very loud and proud. They should make the noise last week at the Metrodome in Minneapolis seem like a violin recital.

The Saints extra man will be making it very difficult, if not impossible for Brett Farve to have any type of audible play calling so they sure better have it straight in the huddle before they hit the line. This is the main reason why allsports is swinging towards a Saints victory and their first trip to the Super Bowl. At least I think it would be their first trip.

Allsports does not really care which of these two teams wins, they are both very deserving and either would represent the NFC very well

Allsports was wondering what to write about today because there really was not much going on in the wonderful world of sports news or sports on the web that tweaked his interest.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are continuing their season of mediocrity, winning in Nashville the other night, 4-3 after jumping out to a first period 3-0 lead, and letting Nashville tie it up before winning it late. Then onto Atlanta where they got up 2-0 early again only this time they were not so lucky, falling to the thrashers 4-3. As a side note the Leafs are in Tampa tonight.

Hockey aside I thought I would inform the readers about allsports latest endeavour, which is called Web Market Industries . Due to my passion for sports I wished to keep it in a sports theme and after some research on niches, the numbers looked pretty good for the niche of Baseball Gloves.

That being settled, the next job in hand was trying to find a supplier that could drop ship. Akadema proved to be the supplier of choice and Allsports thinks their products are as good as Rawlings baseball gloves or Mizuno baseball gloves but with a little more affordable price tag.

So come on over for a visit and prove me wrong, you will be surprised by the quality of the products. So quit warming the bench, get yourself some quality baseball equipment just like the pro’s such as Manny Ramirez use, then get off the bleachers and become a player.

So another weekend of football in the books and four more teams cleaning out their lockers today. If you have been following allsports and his posts for sports news and sports on the web you will see that I was a mediocre 2/4 in my predictions but I can’t say that  I am disappointed with the outcome. Here is my take on the games.

The Jets are making believers out of the skeptics and allsports was one of them. There defence was great against an ineffective Phillip Rivers and his charger offence. Rivers had two costly interceptions that cost the Chargers the game. I thought maybe Rivers crapped the bed a bit in the game but then again you have to give the Jets defence full marks on the victory. Mark Sanchez moved the Jets offence as much as he needed to for the victory. Allsports thought Sanchez would be the one that gave up the costly turnover by instead it was Rivers. The Jets are this years Arizona Cardinals, winning in spite of all the predictions going against them.

The Colts brushed off the Ravens by a 20-3 score and more or less shut down the Ravens running game. Manning was not lights out by any means but he did a very good job of managing the clock and the game. Indy is looking poised to head back to the Super Bowl. You have to want the New York Jets to keep going  but I am not sure if they can. The Colts took care of a pretty good defence in the Ravens.

In the NFC the New Orleans Saints looked good in rolling over the Cardinals racking up 45 points in the win. Drew Brees was pretty efficient and Reggie Bush had a big game.

The Cowboys/ Vikings game was the biggest surprise for allsports. I thought it would be very close and that Dallas might take it because they were playing so well. WRONG, the old boy,  Brett Farve picked the Dallas defence apart for 34 points while the Vikings defence was stingy in only giving up 3 points. Two words describe this game, Defensive Line. That being the Vikings “D” Line, they were all over the Dallas front and pushed them back all afternoon. It was a truly dominant performance and if allsports didn’t know better I would have thought it was men playing with boys.I was kind of happy that I was wrong because I like the Vikings but can’t stand Dallas.

Now the stage is set for the Vikings going into the “Big Easy” to play the Saints. These were the best two teams in the NFC all year and the game should be a great one. Both teams won last weekend in a very convincing fashion and the Super Dome should be rockin and will be the Saints extra man. I would not mind seeing either of these teams in the Super Bowl as neither one has ever won it. It would be great for the city of New Orleans if the Saints can pull it off. The city deserves it after what they went through with Hurricane Katrina,
