Two child victims of a grenade attack in Srinagar are undergoing treatment at the Nanavati Hospital with the help of superstar Shah Rukh Khan who is bearing the entire cost of treatment.

SRK first heard of the orphans — Muddassar (5) and Amina (3) from Dr Ali Irani, head of the department of physiotherapy and sports medicine at the hospital. The actor has donated Rs 50 lakh for the children’s ward at the hospital in memory of his mother.

Dr Ali, who is part of a team of doctors that treats children hit by disasters in Jammu and Kashmir, met the kids during one of his visits to Srinagar. Dr Ali told People magazine that he knew he could ask the doctors to treat the children for free but there would be plenty of other expenses.

“So, I just spoke to Shah Rukh,” he said. The superstar also visited the hospital and promised to introduce them to his kids as soon as they were out of the hospital. Zubair, the elder cousin of the children told the magazine, “Amina keeps asking me if I have spoken with Shah Rukh and when is he going to take her to meet his daughter. She also plans to invite SRK’s children Aryan and Suhana to Srinagar so that they can all play on houseboats.”

Joru ka gulam concept is nothing new to Bollywood but the only new thing is a new name in the category- Sanjay Dutt. This can be made out very easily by having a look at the footage of Sanju Baba’s political rally where he was completely soaked in the colours of Manyata. He is behaving like such an obedient husband that people have started believing that some black magic is been done on him. The word “No” seems to have vanished from his dictionary for Manyata.

Manyata took the steering of Sanjay Dutt’s life when it was losing balance and today she not only drives his personal life but also career as well as political. Manyata is also believed to be the reason for his drift from friends and family. . This can be made up from the fact that Munna Bhai did not choose his family devoted party when it can to join politics. Now you can easily understand this when Priyanka Dutt said “Manyata is manipulating Sanjay”. But later she had to clear up things saying “I had been misinterpreted….” Now Sanjay Dutt backfired saying to a newspaper that girls should keep their husbands sir name after marriage. Its not to be mentioned who he pinpoints.

Now Manyata is also been referred as Choti Bahu by Jaya Bachchan, who says that she asked the voters to give her husband votes as her Muh Dekhai and the same should be done by Manyata. But Choti Bahu see to it that you don’t break the family into chote chote parts.

Minissha Lamba kept on displaying her girl next door image until she got all fed up of it and suddenly decided to turn sexy. She donned a bikini and itsy bitsy clothes in the Id release ‘Kidnap’ but unfortunately fell flat on her face.

Actually this dame neither has the body nor the attitude to turn hot. The buzz is that now she’s gone under the knife to get a better nose.

Minissha is rumoured to have undergone plastic surgery to get a thin and pointed nose. The actress felt she had a broad nose which didn’t look good on her face.

‘To hell with natural beauty’, that seems to be the mantra in Bollywood right now.

Now it’s well known that both Koena Mitra and Shilpa Shetty look unnatural because of their nose jobs. Koena recently made a very candid confession that her nose job was a huge mistake that distorted her face, compelling her to go into a shell and avoid being in public for months.

Shilpa has never admitted to having had such complications but her fake nose has always looked unnatural on her face. Same goes for the likes of Rakhi Sawant and Sherlyn Chopra who look made up most of the time.

Well the chances of this nose job actually helping Minissha’s sagging career looks difficult. Let’s wait and watch.

Ranbir Kapoor has decided to give up smoking as a b’day to girlfriend Deepika. Deepika couldn’t have had a better beginning to 2009 and her birthday yesterday. A source close to Deepika says, "Deepika didn’t like Ranbir’s smoking habit. As an advance birthday gift, he promised her that he would give up smoking for her.

From January 1 this year, after being a smoker for years, Ranbir has completely quit smoking. Lots of people tried to make him quit but they didn’t succeed. Now he has given it up for Deepika." The actress is proud of the fact that the Kapoor lad has not lighted up in the last five days."

The source continues, "The best thing is that she never nagged him about smoking. She accepted him the way he was but Ranbir realised that she didn’t like his habit, as she was always uncomfortable when he smoked around her. So he made a resolution to quit. It’s a big decision for him and even his mom (Neetu Kapoor) doesn’t know that her son has kicked the butt."

When quizzed about being together Deepika says, "I don’t like talking about my personal life. All I will say is that Ranbir keeps me very happy and secure." Deepika had a quiet birthday with her parents yesterday. She went to Siddhivinayak Temple followed by a quiet dinner with boyfriend Ranbir in the evening.

"My parents and sister was with me last week during Christmas and New Year’s but my sister had to attend a tournament, so she flew off on Saturday. I never like celebrating my birthdays much. But I do make it a point to go to Siddhivinayak. It’s been a great year for me and 2009 looks even more promising.

She adds, "It’s been a wonderful birthday this year. I couldn’t have asked for two better gifts. Also I am leaving for the premieres of Chandni Chowk To China all over the world. Nikhil Advani has taken the film to a whole new level. The most exciting thing is that the film will be premiered at the Warner Brothers Village in Los Angeles."

Paparazzi Problem For Rajinikanth starrer Endhiran

The Rajinikanth starrer Endhiran is progressing very well amidst mounting expectations. Ever since the film commenced, the entire Indian film industry is keen watching the developments. To make matters even interesting, Endhiran has Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starring opposite the Superstar.

Only recently, the production rights of this film were purchased by Sun Pictures from the original producers Eros International and Ayngaran. Being a mega budget film, the producers and director Shankar wanted every bit of privacy during the film shoot and they also took extra care to ensure the photos from the shooting are not leaked out.

But with the latest technology rearing its ugly head we saw a few of the photos shot during the Endhiran shooting in Peru and Goa find its way to the internet. To top all this, the local paparazzi in Vellore have shot a few stills while the film unit was busy shooting at the Vellore Institute of Technology. Shankar naturally is fuming over this and is now said to working out a new strategy to prevent such things in future.

Shah Rukh Khan To Give Golden Globes Awards In Los Angeles

Bollywood is all set to make its presence strongly felt at this year’s Golden Globes. AR Rahman is already a top contender for the Best Musical Score for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and now news has it that Shah Rukh may become the first Indian actor to present an award at the prestigious award ceremony. The King Khan is said to have been invited by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

Shah Rukh is currently in Los Angeles, shooting for Karan Johar’s ‘My Name is Khan’. And the Golden Globes awards, organised by HFPA, is also being held there, so very likely the superstar may give away one of the awards. Shah Rukh said to a news daily, “The organisers got celebrities to present nominees etc and want me to present a film in the Drama category, walk the red carpet, give interviews et al. It`s supposed to be a big honour. The guys who called me are from HFPA. Also, on the 11th, I have time off from shooting, so, it will be fun because Rahman is nominated for Slumdog. It will be nice to see him win.”

According to a source, “People from HFPA are in talks with SRK and are supposed to drop in on the sets of ‘My Name is Khan’ to extend SRK a formal invitation to attend the ceremony on January 11 at the The Beverly Hilton in LA. King Khan will have to sign an official letter confirming his presence at the ceremony.”Karan Johar may also attend the function with Shah Rukh. Well, with the presence of the powerful trio - Rahman, King Khan and KJo at the Golden Globes will surely showcase Bollywood in the best possible light. Bravo!

This was gesture of social awareness from Bollywood reigning queen Priyanka Chopra.

Priyanka and her doctor parents Ashok and Madhu Chopra in association with the Lions Club of SOL, were part of a three-day free medical camp for the under- privileged and needy. It was held from December 12-14 at Chopra’s Kasturi Polyclinic and at Marble Arch School (both in Oshiwara). Priyanka’s dad is a general physician while her mum is a gynaecologist. The camp promised life-long check-ups to members of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE).

The camp included specialised doctors from various fields. Says Dr Chopra, “The camp was called Affordable Medical Treatment for All (AMTA) 2008. The main aim was community service. We had 21 consultants from various fields participating which included general physicians, neurologists, ENT specialists, and ayurvedic and homeopathic doctors also. The aim was also to create awareness about AIDS, organ donation and early diagnosis of diseases such as oral cancer and hernia detection.”

Priyanka who was spotted sitting at the registration desk said, “After the terror attack, it was essential for people to know about organ donation. Many people lost their lives due to a lack of awareness. A number of terror victims await kidney donation while 65 await liver transplantation. Educational programmes by various doctors were held to dispel myths.”

Bipasha Basu is busy stealing fellow actresses’ thunder these days. First, Bips made sure she left contender Katrina Kaif behind in the ‘Race’ to the priciest New Year’s performance. Aruvadai promises to be a different Tamil film. Starring Mamootty, Sneha, Arjun and Shratha, it deals with some pertinent national and environmental issues in a serious way. Sneha plays a pilot in Aruvadai. Mamooty is the intelligence chief in Delhi, and Shratha plays an ornithologist.

Aruvadai will take care to show the working of each department that it features here. Also, it looks at how these characters are involved in replenishing agricultural work in India.
