In just a few days’ time, the Animal Welfare (Kept Animals) Bill will begin being debated in Parliament.

The Bill has the power to finally end the cruel live export trade and with your help we can make this happen.

Over 11,246 compassionate people have already contacted their MP asking them to back the Bill in its first House of Commons vote next Monday. If you haven’t emailed your MP yet, will you join the thousands who have and email them today?

While the UK Government has already committed to ending live exports, a ban can only happen if this Bill becomes law. That’s why it’s crucial that MPs vote in favour of this vital legislation.

Could you imagine abandoning an animal because they were injured and no longer considered “useful”?

The thought makes me angry and sick to my stomach. But it’s what we think happened to Roma.

You see, Roma is a Galgo. A Spanish hunting dog. And it’s the beginning of hunting season in Spain.

Please donate $35 to save Galgos like Roma.

We’ll never know exactly what happened; it looks like Roma’s paw was cut off by a trap. Then she was abandoned on the streets by the only caretaker she had ever known. With only three legs to stand on, Roma’s hunting career is over.

Sadly, Roma and thousands of other Galgos are abandoned, tortured and even killed every year by the hunters who own them.

Fortunately, kind and brave people are rescuing Galgos in Spain. They found Roma wandering the streets in the middle of the night. Her paw was gone, and her wound was raw and infected.

They rushed Roma to the clinic, where her leg had to be amputated. But these wise and caring people are like you and me, they see past Roma’s injury. And they know she still has value.

They know that all dogs have value. Even when they’re old. Even when they’re sick. And even when they are terribly injured like Roma. That’s why they are building a shelter for rescued Galgos.

Together we can help them rescue even more Galgos like Roma. Please donate $35 right now; we’ll rush it to our partners in Spain so they can save these beautiful dogs and build a shelter to give them the best care possible.

Six giraffes, eight zebras and 50 blue wildebeest (gnus) have been peacefully living on this game farm their entire lives. But now, the owner plans to have them killed to make space for farming activities. We cannot sit back and allow this to happen! Please help us raise $7,000 (£5,100) to safely relocate these creatures to nearby reserves.

All over Africa, wild animals are being wiped out. Giraffes are particularly in danger. Populations of these graceful, gentle creatures have plummeted by 40 percent, yet with utter callousness these six are to be shot for meat. Please help stop this slaughter.

We must RUSH wildlife veterinarians and expert wildlife capture and transport teams to their home and carefully dart the skittish animals and transport them to two nearby reserves that have offered to take them in.

Wildebeest are such social animals that the females in a herd often all give birth at the same time and zebras are an essential part of the African landscape and ecosystems. We cannot let them all die.

Imagine being just a few weeks old and ripped from your mother’s side, only to be tied up, dragged along a gravel road, beaten up and left to die.

This is the despicable and heartbreaking abuse that was meted out to a baby donkey by Bedouin children in the southern West Bank, close to the city of Hebron. Urgent help is needed to save the life of this defenseless, now-orphaned donkey, who is clinging to life after his ordeal.

This tragic little soul, who we have named Dash, was found in a wasteland by a truck driver who saw the children torturing him. Dash had huge, bloody wounds all over his little body. The truck driver chased the children away – they fled the scene and have not been seen since. Had it not been for this good Samaritan, Dash would surely have been beaten to death.

When this kind man reached him, Dash was crying in fear and desperately searching for his mother. Can you imagine how terrified this poor foal must have been as he lay battered and bleeding in the baking sun, with no food, no water, and in the most excruciating pain? It just breaks our hearts.

The truck driver contacted our partner on the ground, the Starting Over Sanctuary (SOS), which immediately rushed to the scene to fetch Dash. He was so weak that they had to carry him into the sanctuary for emergency medical care.

Dash requires expensive medical treatment. We aren’t sure he will survive, but we are doing everything in our power to help him and show him that not all humans are heartless and cruel. Please, help us show Dash kindness and compassion for the first time in his short life by donating to his recovery now.

In South Korea, more than 2 million dogs per year are kept in devastatingly cruel conditions before ultimately being slaughtered for their meat. These dogs often have no water, very little food, and live in inhumane environments where they are exposed to extreme heat, storms, and below-freezing temperatures. South Koreans are increasingly standing up against the dog meat industry, insisting that dogs are companions — not food. Despite residents’ opposition, the country remains one of the only remaining places in the world where dogs are still bred for human consumption.

The way these animals are killed can cause immense suffering and pain; one of most widely-employed forms of slaughter is electrocution. Before death, the pups live in constant neglect and abuse, sometimes resulting in psychological distress so intense that the dogs actually self-mutilate as a result. Luckily, the demand for dog meat is disappearing fast. The vast majority of South Koreans reject the dog meat trade. Now, President Moon Jae-in is speaking out against dog farming, too! We just need him to go one step further. Sign the petition to urge President Moon Jae-in to ban dog meat in South Korea!

Since that terrible day, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes. The Faroese government committed to a review of the nation’s dolphin hunting, but this review has not happened. We’re pushing hard to make the prime minister keep his promise. Please sign our petition to show that the world is watching.

As media coverage dies down, we need to turn global outrage into international pressure to end this killing forever. So we’ve joined forces with Sea Legacy and Avaaz. We will combine our campaigning efforts on the ground and present our petitions together. We will make sure Prime Minister Bárður á Steig Nielsen feels the collective weight of our organisations and hears the voices of our supporters loud and clear.

Please add your voice. Almost 280,000 people have signed already – help us get to 300,000. We owe it to those poor, beautiful dolphins to make sure this never happens again.

We have told you before about the horrific cruelty involved in the slaughter of more than 160,000 badgers in England in a futile bid to control the spread of bovine tuberculosis (bTB) in cattle.

In the face of overwhelming scientific evidence that badger culling has not and never will have any significant impact on the transmission of the disease to cattle, the UK government said it would phase out the killing. Instead, it broke that promise and announced that up to 76,000 more badgers will be slaughtered this year alone!

Friend, we really need your help to STOP THIS KILLING!

The cull, which has already killed over ONE-THIRD of England’s badger population and cost $96 million (£70 million) does no good and is inherently cruel, yet the British government and British Veterinary Association (BVA) continue to support it!

The BVA represents 18,000 of the UK’s 28,900 veterinarians, each of whom takes an oath, which includes the statement: “…above all, my constant endeavour will be to ensure the health and welfare of animals committed to my care.” How can this cruelty be in the interest of these animals’ health and welfare? The simple answer is that it cannot. These creatures are being betrayed by the people whose duty it is to protect them!

Badgers have the highest protection status of any animal in the UK. It is ILLEGAL to willfully kill, injure or remove a badger (or even attempt to do so!) in England. Friend, these animals and their homes have been protected by law since 1973, yet the same government that gave them this protection now flouts its wildlife laws and for no other reason than what many people say is to pander to the ill-informed views of a powerful lobbying group of commercial farmers!

Defra, the UK’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, claims that its bTB policy of killing badgers is science-led but independent scientific experts agree that culling badgers is ineffective. The government continues to ignore this evidence and is continuing with an impractical and ineffective policy – signing death sentences for an additional 76,000 badgers in 2021 alone.

Friend, even though cows are twice as likely to contract bTB from other cattle than from badgers, these shy creatures who are an icon of the English countryside continue to be blamed and executed. Please donate today so that our work to save these creatures from senseless and painful extermination can continue.

When animal rescue organizations arrived at the Cricket Hollow Zoo to help relocate animals to shelters, volunteers and workers found that many of the animals were either missing, hidden, sold, or dead. This came after the zoo violated animal neglect laws, keeping the creatures in horrific conditions, and was ordered to relocate the animals. This could have been an important victory for animal rights, but instead it became even more of a welfare nightmare in which 110 animals went missing — most likely not into happier, healthier environments.

Among the animals that were supposed to be relocated and saved but instead disappeared were bears, mountain lions, guinea pigs and hedgehogs, lizards, tortoises and turtles, birds and kinkajous. Two of the bears were sold to a wildlife exhibitor who is barred by the state from owning wild animals. They were taken out of hibernation and fed during their typical hibernating period, and died as a result. The judge ordered the zoo to pay a fine or go to jail, setting a good precedent. But the harm to animals has already been done.

Caring for and exhibiting wild animals is a highly profitable industry, and also very risky for the health and safety of the animals. This industry should be regulated better to prevent abuses like this in the future. We must make sure that what happened at Cricket Hollow Zoo does not happen again! Sign now to tell the USDA that you stand against animal abuse, and you believe that stronger exhibitors license requirements will help protect animals from harmful roadside zoos in the future.

Just recently, New York suffered its latest carriage horse tragedy — a blood-soaked collision involving a horse named Chief. Chief was a brand-new carriage horse, forced to labor with a human carriage strapped to his body for the first time. As he lugged passengers aroud in the high-paced area of Midtown, filled with loud noises, chaotic sights, and strong smells, the overwhelming stimuli startled him. Then, he rammed right into the back of a car — leaving blood splattered all over the pavement and on the carriage behind him.

Chief immediately plummted to the ground, though he desperately tried to stand up, legs kicking erratically while he lay on the asphault. He eventually fell unconscious before later rousing and painfully rising to his feet again. Authorities announced that Chief had sustained injuries to his head, right front leg, and his midsection, and that’s the last we’ve heard of him. All of this could have been prevented if New York City would have done the right thing and banned carriage horse rides. Chief is not the first animal to have been injured — and even killed — in this way. And unfortunately he will not be the last, unless the city takes action NOW. Tell Mayor Bill de Blasio to ensure horses’ safety by signing legislation to end all horse-drawn carriage rides now!

Bella the beluga whale has been locked behind glass walls in a small tank for at least seven years, ever since she was captured along with two other belugas near Iceland and forced to become the aquatic entertainment at Lotte World Aquarium in Seoul, South Korea. Then, several years ago, her two tank mates died. South Korean activists worked hard to convince the Lotte corporation to spare Bella the same tragic fate, and stakeholders seemingly agreed. But two years later, Bella is still in her tiny enclosure, the aquarium attraction remains open, and experts say Bella is showing signs of significant psychological distress.

Belugas, like other whales, evolved to live in the huge expanses of the ocean, swimming hundreds and even thousands of miles, and interacting with all sorts of creatures in the wild. Trapping them in sterile glass prisons the size of a human home with only a couple other belugas for company — if any at all — is cruelty, plain and simple. They do not belong in this conglomerate-owned aquarium! Tell the CEO of Lotte Corporation, Shin Dong-bin, that Bella must be freed immediately! We can’t wait until she becomes the latest dead beluga at the Lotte World Aquarium.
