On our second day at Hong Kong, we woke up early, as you can see all the shop's not opened yet. Semangat ma...but the sis's face already looking tired....

On our way to our traditional Hong Kong breakfast, we walked pass the 'Goldfish street'. Really alot of gold fish lo I tell you...

We ate at this particular cafe "Kam Wah Cafe" in Mongkok, only a street away from the place we stayed. Apparently, the cafe is famous for its Polo bao/Pineapple Bun but when we tasted it....

It's not that bad, the bun is crispy and soft on the inside, but the pineapple taste, we find it tasted artificial.

Famous HK Polo Bao : How to eat it (as thought by the sis)- As it is thick and crispy, biting into it will cause it to crumbles easily. Hence, a fork is provided, what you have to do is use the fork to press the bun flat so that it is easier to eat.

Love the strong tea aroma.

Their egg tart is the best, soft filling with the right thickness of crust.

Real small area with so many occupants...we're not really used to it during our 1st few days.

We also had the famous HK "Chan Dan Min', translates to Instant Noodles with luncheon meat & Egg.

Off to Hong Kong We Go

I've always wanted to vising Hong Kong, it must have been all the TVB series that I've watched since my childhood. Always wanted to try 細蓉 (sai yong),咖哩魚蛋 (curry fishball), 臭豆腐 (Smelly Tofu), Porridge, HK Egg tart and a lot more.

Being able to visit HK (12-17 Jan'13) is really a dream come true and a true gastronomical adventure. And also what made this trip so enjoyable and interesting is because I went with all my favourite people in my life.

And I'm now documenting all the details of the trip in my blog, so that I'll be able to read back and help reminds me of all the wonderful memories of our trip.

We of course travel the affordable way, which is Airasia, tickets were bought a year before our trip which costed around RM400, which is dirt cheap comparing to other airlines.

First thing we did after we claimed our luggage is to get our Octopus Card, a smart card payment card for MTR, buses and you can also use it to purchase good from selected stores. The card value is HK$50 (approx RM20) and you will have to top-up $ to use the card. I'm not quite sure whether you'll get back the card value upon returning the Octopus card. For me, I'm still keeping the card (because we missed the 'card return counter', which I think is fine because the card is valid for three years from it's last add-value date.

After we checked in to our hostel "Ah Shan Hostel" (Mong Kok), we started our food quest. The location of Ah Shan is good as it is located near the MTR station and also in Mong Kok where there's alot to see and to eat.

1st up is the famous HK street food, 咖哩魚蛋 (curry fishball) :

2 sticks for HK$ 10 (RM4), the next day, the price increased to HK$11 o.O

It is not like the ordinary fish ball that we have here as it is not springy/bouncy and for me it tasted a bit like the keropok lekor that we have in Malaysia. The curry flavour is actually quite strong and it is wrapped in oil. And the weird part is, I actually like it. I guess most of us liked it as we ended up having the fishball from the same stall almost every night.

The stall is located very near to Ah Shan hostel.I'm so sorry I'm not able to share the location of it as the whole trip is planned by my sis and I did not take note to where exactly all the places that we've been and food we've eaten. The purpose of writing on our HK trip is really just to document it for our own reference, and I feel this blog of mine has become more of a personal blog rather than a food blog/guide. But feel free to ask for more info and I'll try my best to help.

Since we were all tired and super hungry, we randomly walked into a market (Fa Yuen St Market) where there is a food court (Fa Yuen Street Market Cooked Food Centre) located upstairs for dinner. The food court is also where the famous Mui Kei Congee is located.

There are a few stalls but we ended up at a Thai Food restaurant in HK, wth right? But nevertheless, the food tasted good.

Pineapple Fried Rice.

We also had the Chicken Hotpot, and we were literally served chicken and hot soup. But the soup base is good.

Nice and warm for a cool night. The dinner costed us HK$208 (RM80), eating in HK is really expensive.

After dinner, we went for a walk around Mong Kok and to look out for more food to fill our already full tummy.

We went Ladies Street which is just a street away from our hostel.

Street Shumai tasted bad, doesn't taste like meat, more like fishball wrapped with wanton skin.

We also had Egg Ball Waffles (鷄蛋仔) from North Point Egg Waffle which has several locations in Hong Kong. It tasted so good, each ball has a soft centre and the rest of it is crispy. We finished it in less than 1 min. My sis is really a good tour guide..haha

And that ends our 1st night in Mongkok, HK, and we went back for a good rest to prepared our self for the long walk the next day.

Pardon my nerdy/act-cute photo. On my ahem, not-so-young-anymore-bday, I decided to go cute with the big-ass specs. I suppose if I didn't act cute this year, I cannot afford to do it the following years.

Before the dinner, we had tea at Dreamz Bakery at Kota Damansara.

Carbonara @ RM12.90. Not much of food selections, but I love their spaghetti, very creamy, with 3 fresh prawns, mushrooms and bits of smoked salmon.

Chocolate cheese. Japanese-style I assume as the cheese is very light-weight, to our liking.

And now to the star of the day, El Cerdo at Changkat Bukit Bintang.

El Cerdo means 'The Pig' in Spanish and the place is famous for its pork dishes from around the world.

The place is very cosy with good service and with good food. A highly recommended place for a good family dinner or even for an outing with friends.

We are first greeted with soft, complimentary bread with pork liver spread?

Jamon Serrano. Imported Spanish cured & air-dried ham served on rock melon and salad. There are alot of thin ham varieties on the plate. Some of the ham is a bit salty, recommended to be eaten with the condiments which are served together.

Oven Roasted Pork Ribs. My skill really doesn't do justice to the yummy-juicy ribs. It is very tasteful and the meats are tender, cooked to perfection. And the layer of fats really compliment the meat very well.

We also ordered the Caesar salad and I loved the dressings. Apologies, no picture of it.

And the signature dish, Roasted Suckling Pig. We were told that the piglet is only 2 weeks old. We stunted for awhile when we heard that. We prefer not to be told such details.

The dish is served together with a plate of salad and a bowl of potatoes.

There is a Spanish tradition before eating the suckling pig that we had to perform. We were asked to knock on the wooden board for 3 times before cutting it with the plate. It is believed that by doing so the bad luck will transfer to the plate. After that, break the plate in the prepared wooden pail to cast away the bad luck and welcome Good Luck.

Mountain Paella. Paelle Style Rice with Pork Bacon, Chicken and Fresh Mushroom.

Churros with nice warm chocolate dip.

Soft and moist chocolate cake. Spanish flourless choco cake.

Complimentary shots for everyone which serves to clean and to digest the meats that we've consumed earlier. And that night, it also served as my birthday cake.

When the shots are served, the staff came in and sang us an oink oink, Happy birthday song.

Even the pig loves the complimentary shot.

And this year I have a happy and also pricey oink-oink birthday dinner. Thanks, Kam Sia, Xie-Xie, Arigatou to all who make this happened.

Free Mori @ Shah Alam

Free Mori in Shah Alam is a very nice place for teatime with delicious bakeries and cakes. The bakeries are inspired by recipes from Taiwan.

The bakery is situated in the middle of Shah Alam's industrial area. When we reached, the whole place is empty, with us being their only patrons. Hmm...I wondered what's their strategy by having a bakery in the mid of factories.

Nice seating for you to enjoy their freshly baked bakeries.

The cake above is labelled 'Black Forest', RM7.50 in their shelf. Although it tasted nothing like black forest cake, it tasted good, with layers of rich chocolate.

Opera, RM7.50. Nice coffee taste.

This thing here I've no idea what it is, cos there's no label. There is a slice of strawberry in between the choco cream. The berries is sourish and it goes well with the cream. But too bad, I'm not a cream person.

This bread above I love it so much, Mille Danish, RM4. I prefer this to mille crepes, as I'm not a cake person but carbs, I cannot resist.There are layers of thin breads and the outer layer is crispy. And if you can, ask them to reheat to enhance the crispiness.

Apart from bakeries and cakes, Free Mori also serves actual food/main courses.

Hey there, apologies if I scared you with my close-up. I'm growing my hair long again and the length is really bothering me right now...it's making me wonder whether should I go short all over again...Ahhhh~ don't bother..

Today's food post will be on....BIG ASS sausages...ta-dahh

We get to know Terry Pork from Living Social which quote the following, "If you dig pork and you want to dine on nothing but pork, then head to Terry Pork for some porky goodness".Us being pork-lover, we head on to Southgate for some Porky Goodness.

Before heading to the porky-licious yummies, we stop over at H&M Malaysia for some stress-relieving session and damn we felt so good after the session and a little poorer.

Terry Pork has 2 outlets, 1 in Kuchai Lama and the other is in Southgate, where we went and to my surprise the one in Southgate is so small and they only have 2 chefs and a waitress. I think there's only about 20 tables max?

And here's what we have for RM70 coupon :

Early Grey Milk Tea, RM4.50. The drink is to my liking as it is not too sweet.

Sausage Bacon Rolls, RM9.90. Not good, you can see from here the cocktail sausages is too dry and we cant even taste the bacon, the Pork in Blanket @ Brussels Cafe is way better. We didn't even finish it.

West East Sausages with Streaky Platter, RM25. The platter consist of 2 supposed West sausages and 1 East sausage, which is 'lap cheong/臘腸', which is weird I find but for that price...no complaint then..but cannot compare with Euro Deli's Sausage Platter I had last week lo...a visual below for comparison's sake.

Looks abit weird in the picture..forgive my skills..it cost around RM50.

Teriyaki Pork Steak Burger, RM15.90. Kenny didn't even finish the meat..only the bread and he claims that he likes the bread-foccacia

And lastly my Stone Bowl of Salted Fish and Belly Rice,RM9.90. Why stone bowl you asked? The waitress told me they are out of the stone bowl, hence...The rice is too dry and the quantity of salted fish...let's not go there..

Overall, we didn't go home with a happy stomach...the side salad to the dish had a weird taste and the tomato sauce also tasted weird. The food is only so-so and I reckon we will not return but maybe the branch in Kuchai Lama will be better? We would not know till we try.

Today marks the end of the Airasia's Free Seat Promo...and that reminds me of my abandoned Japan trip post....with that I bring you a few more photos from our Japan trip last year...

Our buys from the 7-Eleven, you can always get interesting stuff from 7-e outlets overseas but not in Malaysia. The one on the bottom is Spaghetti Carbonara with Ham,Bacon and Sausage. It cost almost RM 15..but it tasted so good...abit diluted but there's plenty of stuff in it..

Yum Yum..but I don't like the greens...

Mis-matched outfits...but who cares...we were heading to Harajuku...(miss my long hair)

Tokyo Disneyland 2

Welcome back!! As promised, this post will be the 2nd part of the Tokyo Disneyland trip that I went last year...so enjoy...

The only ride that we went for that day-basically just a ferry ride with nothing to do.

After strolling the park for a while, we got hungry, and we decided to eat at this fast food chain-reason being because all other places are so crowded and we were so hungry that time.

Ordering the food isn't a problem because there's pictures for us to pinpoint to the cashier.

1,600 yen for 2 sets of fast food meal...lemme count .... which is equivalent to RM 64!! (estimate, calculated based on the rate when we went). OMG!!!

The food in the fast food chain which is worth RM64... (ignore the Katakana in the picture-I just randomly translated some words and put it in..lol)

After the food, we sangat senang (too free), we sit and waited for the parade to begin - like what all the Japanese did...

Nothing special about the parade, but the Japs actually waited almost half an hour and they seem to love it alot.

Goofy's House

There's this particular Mickey Lunch Box which I had wanted to buy which is available only in Tokyo Disneyland. Hence, we walk all over and ask all over for it. It's not easy to ask stuff in Japan, because they will not understand you, so we said " Mickey and we used hand gesture", and it took almost 10 mins for them to get us. "Toon Town", they said and off we go to Toon Town.

I'm so excited when I saw this, but at this moment when I'm writing this blog, the lunch box is pratically just sitting in my store room =.= and it is 1,850 yen = RM 70+

Photos a bit blurry, they have both Mickey and the Minnie Lunch Box. I bought the Mickey, looking at it now, I regretted for not choosing the Minnie, it's cuter... #cry (human will never be satisfied)

Other stuff that you can get from 'Towntown Tidbits" - Donald/Daisy Egg Stand -600 yen

I think that's about it on my Tokyo Disneyland post...conclusion, since the both us us can't be bother to line up, we ended up just walking around the park and took tons of pictures. For those who don't mind queuing up, I suppose Tokyo Disneyland is quite fun, tho.

I'm back....with almost 2 months of not updating but nothing much happened lately except with the 2 newly open mall, Setia City Mall and Paradigm. Life still goes on as usual, with bored-to-death job from Mon-Fri, and the always-not-enough weekend. Thus, I have been ignoring this blog of mine....Gomen..

I'm going to continue on the long past Japan trip, where this time I'll be sharing pictures from Tokyo Disneyland ♥♥

Mickey train...Mickey Resort...everything Mickey (I'm missing my super-long hair....sobss)

It was November when we visited Tokyo Disneyland and we were told that it would be quite chilly as the theme park is located near the sea. And so for a person like me who loves the 'zero' temperature, it's time to layer up.

The ride from our hotel to the park is almost an hour *yawn... but it's worth it....

The different tickets available and it's prices (fyi, it's almost RM250 for an Adult tix)

1st look of Cinderella castle...My heart melted when I saw this...hmm...altho it's quite similar to the one in Universal Studio..hey...but this is different..it's Japan..

So cute....You can see so many of this cute-ness around the park....The park is targetted to kids so young, it's making me feel old and out-of-place...but hey...I'm young at heart...

Look the Three-Eyed Alien, I wanna pose with them too...ehh....but those who are queuing are all primary kids and below...arghh....*next time*...

Parking bays for strollers....it's so convenient the next time I'm gonna bring my baby here too....=.=

We tried on so many of the Disney characters hat, but we did not buy a single one (regretted la wei....)

The weather that day was quite hot, I swear I even sweat and I had to take off my jacket. The crowd is huge although on weekdays (if I did not remember wrongly) , thus we did not queue for any ride, we just walked around and took tons of pictures.

Japan Trip: Hakone Peace Park, Dinner at Gotemba & Sunshine City Prince Hotel

After having the yummy black egg which helps in extending our age for extra 7 years, we move to the nearby peace park for some photographs. The place is beautiful & peaceful with a nice view of the Mt Fuji.

After awhile of temple viewing and view shooting, we got bored and came out with the above...wuliao rite...lol

The park is really beautiful and I love the weather there, thinking back I will be very glad if I can visit Japan again in the near future....

Off we go to our dinner place....so hungry after all the walks...1st dinner in Japan, kan cheong le~

Our dinner place, if I didn't remember wrongly, its only 5pm tat time but the sky is getting dark and the whole restaurant is occupied by only UM-ians.

"More ocha for me pwetty please", says the Ne-yo wannabe, hahas.

With my set dinner, Japs can really eat alot, look at the portion-1 bowl of white rice,udon, sashimi, veges, fish....Onaka ippai!!

Love the seaweed/sesame thingie that the Japanese sprinkled on their rice...it makes the rice super yummy, but abit salty tho.

After the filling dinner, we travel to Tokyo & checked in Sunshine City Prince Hotel, Tokyo, a fine 4* hotel which cost about RM650 for a standard room with breakfast. A type of luxury we can't afford if we were to travel on our own.Self-talk: Work harder and travel 5* on my own!! Gambatte!!

Just realised I did not snap any photos of the hotel T.T

After shower and change of clothes, we went down to the street nearby to sight-see and to find for food.

And that concludes my 1st day in Japan *wipe sweat* at last right.....I'm gonna sleep now...oyasumi nasai!!

Japan Trip 2: Mythical Egg in Owakudani Japan?

Finally had some time to continue my Japan trip blog post. These few months had been a tiring months for me at work as I need to start fresh and a lot of things need to learn hence neglected my lovely blog. :D

After a fulfilling lunch break at Lake Ashi, our next destination is Owakudani which located 30 minutes away from Lake Ashi but we took almost 1 & a half hour to reach as it is the public holiday for Japan on that day!!! >.<

'Have you ever wonder if there is 'anything' that can prolong your life?' That's what our tour guide asked during the journey (or should I say the jam!) to Owakudani. He told us that There is this egg called 'Black Egg' that was boiled in the sulphurous water in Owakudani which can extend your life and legend says that if you eat 1 egg, you can extend your life for 7 years! WOW!

After 1 & a half hour ride, we finally reached our destination and it was freezing!!! Saw the white smoke coming out at the center? That is the place where they boiled and sell the Black Egg! Everyone is so eager to get one but looking at the distance and path, our mouth goes wide open.......... :O

After 30 minutes of rock climbing, monster fighting, counting the staircase (yeap, it wasn't that bad, they have stairs!!!) *crap crap crap*......... Happily holding the mythical Black Egg! :) The egg cost us around 500 yen.
Their shells are black in color due to a chemical reaction with the sulphurous water, but the inside is quite tasty.
I must warned you, the sulphur smell is very strong here and we couldn't take it for too long!

*Om nom nom* Has my life extended??? hehehe... It was pretty crowded there......

After our quest of extending our life, enjoying the magnificent view of Mount Fuji from Owakudani. You can clearly see Mt. Fuji from here and I must say, it is stunning!!! The top was not covered by snow though...

From Malacca to Muar

The Tan's sista in Malacca again...Our fav hangout place...I guess it's also a lot of Malaysian's fave holiday spot, which explained the jam during short holidays. Who would not love Malacca for its wide selection of food?

This time around we drove all the way down to Muar to hunt for more yummiess~

1st stop after almost an hour drive from Malacca is Cafe 434. It has been around since 1953 and is famous for its coffee.

Some breads to go with our coffee. The toast is a bit dry but no complain cos the star here is the coffee

The food street is located along Jalan Ali and Jalan Haji Abu. Look it up in GPS or Google Maps because yours truly..ermm...does not know the way...ahahas...

Wantan Mee is also one of the famous food there but we were too full to try. Plus, I do not really favor Wantan Mee. Also, you will find a few stalls selling the same thing such as satay and the otak, but it all depending on your preference. If you are unsure, just look at whichever stall have more crowd...altho it may not always be right but it's worth the try.

But I can tell you the otak/otah there is a must try. Yummy~

The stalls starts operating in the morning till late evening..but not sure of the exact time. We'll definitely return to the 'Tam Chiak Street' for more food...

RM 11 instead of RM 25.40 for a set of Big Breakfast.This deal in Groupon got us into this non-halal butcher/restaurant located Hartamas Shopping Centre. We went there on an early Sunday morning and there were already quite a crowd in the shop, indicating the popularity of it.

They have a deli counter where you can choose your yummy-licious meat. But since we got the coupon, we just sit down and wait for our food to be served.

Japan Trip 1: Hakone : Lake Ashi

tWo thumbs up for the vending machine in Japan...It's everywhere...even in the back street...but what's the point of placing it there?

The travelling starts right after 7 & half hour flight from KL to Narita Airport, leaving us no time to rest, not to mention sleep. The 1st place that we are about to visit is the Hakone area. Since it is a Japan public holiday on our arrival day, the jam is bad. We took a toilet break before we continue on the journey to Hakone which is almost 2 hours.

1st Japanese meal after touchdown in Tokyo. How did the Japanese not become fat by eating such heavy meal?

The rice is yum-yum..there's this seaweed thingy where you sprinkle it on top of your rice which makes it more flavorful. I can eat 2 bowls of rice with it anytime.

Are you one of those people who hates porridge, thinking that 'I'm not sick why do I had to eat this sick people's food which tasted so bland and bla,bla bla'... This particular restaurant served porridge which will change your perception of porridge like forever.

Yay...look no further, the place is in Klang, somewhere in Taman Berkeley...yup...it is in the same Taman as the famous Klang Mee Hun Kuih.

The sign boards read Fried Porridge; for those who don't understand Malay. You people might be wondering, how-lah to fry porridge...I don't believe it myself either...

Some random herbal steam chicken which we order. The taste is ok, but idk why they serve it cold. It will be way better if it's steaming hot.

Here comes our Fried Porridge RM 12, with actual, big sized fried pork lard....unhealthy but tasted heaven!! The porridge only come in 1 size, imagine it was only the 2 of us when we ordered this. We could hardly finish it, but in the end we still did it because it was just to yummy...

Ingredients spotted in the bowl: yam, beancurd, dry squid, shrimp. The ingredient may sound ordinary but mix it all together with the superior stock and dark soy sauce and ta-da= yummy fried porridge which you can only get in Klang.

That's the only thing that we had that day. Apology cos we were too full but the restaurant is also famous for it's crab, judging from majority of the patrons there having crabs and mantis shrimp. If you are interested to find out more on what to eat, please have a look at blogs below:

On our Penang-all-girls trip we wanted to have a nice dinner in a nice restaurant with nice view. And so I google-d all the requirements and Ferringhi Garden popped up. And so, with no hesitation we drove all the way from Gurney to Ferringhi just to have a taste of Ferringhi Garden and it's magnificent view.

We were awed by the restaurant as all of us love its garden feel. After ordering our food, all 4 of us went around the restaurant to snap photos. Below are the outcomes:

Foods and drinks were already served by the time we finished snapping. Proof that the service is prompt over there.

Some chocolate milk shake and tropical juice...I can't remember it's price but it's around RM 10 - RM 18.90 ++.

Complimentary Garlic Bread.. RM 0. The crispiness is just nice and the cheese on top of it is yummy...

Caesar Salad. Why must they separate all the stuffs? There's chicken, iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and some of other stuffs which I can't recognize.

Nachos with dressings : tomato salsa and zesty mayo. The first few bites of the nachos is good, could be we were too hungry then. After that we find that the nachos is a bit hard and the salsa dressing a bit too spicy.

Seafood Fettuccine. There's salmon, mussels, squids and clams in it. I find the pasta to be a bit too soft. Overall it's good. This plate cost ard RM 28?

Salmon Steak @ Subang SS 15

Had been wanting to tryout this Salmon Steak in SS15 for quite some time, but always phailed due to my busy schedule...*ahem...read a lot of review which mentions that the Salmon steak/Western food here is cheap, so on one fine day we decided to give it a try since we are in that area.

The humble looking menu. Is it even cheap? I don't really find it cheap, tho. Maybe it used to be cheap. But since we are already seated, why not give it a try.

~~Faux~~ Shark Fin Soup, RM6. Initially we wanted to try the mushroom soup, but it's out. So, sorry sharks...but I think the whole process of making this soup does not involve any shark killing as I can only see mushroom, crab stick and eggs in it.

OJ (L) , RM 6. A bit too sweet for me, and I can't taste the orange in it.

Honey Chicken, RM9.50.

Mix Chicken & Fish, RM 14. Fried fish fillet and grilled chicken. Tasted ordinary. Nothing special about it.

At the end, we none of us try their Salmon Steak, which I assume is its specialty. But judging from the food we had, we probably will not return again.

Eating at StarHill KL for ONLY RM 3.60

StarHill Gallery KL is famous for its high-end outlets like Gucci, Chopard, Fendi and the list goes on. I had went to Starhill numerous times but had never really dare to walk in to those shops, fearing that the sales assistant will look down on me.

I'll never imagine myself entering the shops in Starhill, not to mention eating there, where it will cause a hole in my wallet. But to my surprise, there's this 3.6 Teatime Promo which is unbelievably affordable and good. The promotion runs from 3pm-6pm daily for only RM3.60++ per dish..so unbelievable, right? I read somewhere that the promo ends 4th October 2011, hopefully they will extend this great promo.

This promo runs in 4 reputable restaurant: Shook!, Fisherman's Cove, Luk Yu Tea House and Pak Loh Chiu Chow. All 4 restaurants are located in the Feast level.

We were thinking western, so there's only 2 choice left but we ended up choosing Shook!. So I guess you are now anticipating on what's in the RM3.60 menu, here you go:

Not bad right? So many things to choose from. But not all are RM 3.60, some are RM4.60, but still cheap what...

While waiting for my food to come, I posed with my Iphone 4 casing which I got for only RM1. Yay...lucky us...It was some random shops opening lucky draw thing in Pavillion. There are also Mac headphones and Ipod shuffle to be won...but too bad...I feel so sad, the woman right in fron of me manage to draw the Ipod, argghhh it was suppose to be mine....

Still waiting....haha but it took only awhile for the food to arrive...I tink only a few minutes....

Grilled chicken in Pita Bread, RM 3.60.

The chicken does not taste n look chicken it tasted and looked more like tuna...*scratch head....

Grilled Cumberland 8-inch sausage with Honey mustard sauce, RM4.60.

This is some very flavorful and juicy sausage. Thinking back, I regretted not ordering more. But the mashed potato is a dry.

Fish Tempura with Noodles, RM3.60.

The noodles is too soft and soggy. The fish is ok ,but why soak the tempura in the soup??

6-inch Pepperoni Pizza, RM4.60.

This pizza is also good. Crispy thin crust with just enough of cheese and the tomato sauce.

Pasta Seafood Tomato Sauce, RM4.60.

Where on earth can you find pasta for RM4.60. Served with generous amounts of mussels, squid and 2 medium-sized prawn...yum yum!!

If you are thinking how can the 2 of us finish the food, mind you, the portion is quite small, but we feel damn full after finishing all of it. We feel like such a pig, for ordering so much, the couple next to us only order 1 each, but who cares, we were too hungry and it's cheap!!!

MOF Japanese Cafe at Sunway Pyramid

We were having our usual outing at Sunway Pyramid on one fine day and we came across this: Japanese Set Lunch from RM 9.90...being a poor student we went in to the restaurant without second thought.

MOF actually stands for Ministry of Food (hmm..is it in any way related to Ministry of Sound (MOS) in Pyramid), and it originates from Singapore. Looking at their website, I think they are quite big there. The food in the menu looks not bad too, but since we were too poor, we only had their Set Lunch. Why didn't they have this buffet promo in Malaysia as well....

After tasting their salad, I didn't put much hope on the mains...

My Curry Pasta Set at RM 9.90, tasted really ordinary....it is just spaghetti with curry gravy, a piece of potato, carrot and a few chunks of onion. No complain though, that's what you can get for RM 9.90 this days....

His BBQ Chicken Bento Set, RM 11.90 looks way better...at least gt meat lo....got egg sumo...But the BBQ sause tasted funny....doesn't taste BBQ....

And that's our 1st encounter with Ministry of Food (MOF), I think I'll prefer MOS more...lol....or should I go try their menu and desserts rather than their Set Lunch.....I just think that their Set Lunch does not do the restaurant any good...

A Day Out at Ikea

Random post on our Ikea outing. I just love visiting Ikea...I love the way they decorate and I'll always dream of my house looking like it is...yeah...I;m a dreamer...and will always be one....

Our root beer from the vending machine outside of Ikea. It's been sometime since our last root beer...refreshing!!

After touring Ikea, a place which we never fail to visit each time, and a must go is the Foodcourt@Ikea for the yummylicious meatball.....

The meatball is a bit dry, but it is just nice when eaten with the sauce. But I don't understand why there is jam served in this dish, any idea? It cost RM 5 for this plate of 5 pcs meatball with french fries.

Mushroom Soup, RM 3. This taste good too, but it's a bit watery.

This time around we also tried the chicken wing, RM 4. This is not good, cold and un-crispy....

2 happy faces in Ikea. If you would excuse us now, we will like to enjoy our Swedish meatballs now...adjö meaning goodbye (thanks Google Translate)...

This particular shop in Ipoh old town is famous for its white coffee. It is located just opposite of Nam Heong. I would not know the difference between the 2 since I'm not a coffee lover.

White Coffee, RM 1.40. After drinking this cup of coffee, I felt dizzy the whole day. I guess I'm not a coffee-person. Anyhow, this cup tasted good, not too sweet which is to my liking and very kaw....

I love to have my drink served in cups like this....very vintage..me likey!!

My toast with kaya & butter, RM 1.60. The kaya is very good, very fragrant. Not much of butter in the bread, but also to my liking cos I love my toast with less butter. The bread is also very crispy.

Caramel Custard, RM 2.20. Very soft texture with just the right sweetness....

Chee Cheong Fun, RM 2.50. I favor this savoury cheong fun to the sweet ones. This plate here is served with minced meat and also mushroom bits.

Dry Hor Fun , RM 3.50. Smooth hor fun with plenty of sides in the soup.

As you all can see from the title, I'm out of ti-dea (title+idea), also being a not very creative being, that's the only title that I can come out with. Talking about creativity reminds me of my current job...there's this brain-storm session, where people are required to come out with ideas, and there I'll be sitting at a side, hoping that the bosses could not see me....(ok, abit out of topic)

So, today I'm gonna talk about the coupon that we got from everyday.com.my. It is a 5-course Western meal for only RM 19.90 nett, inclusive of tax and charges. It's dirt cheap...All this online deal, is making me fat and poor, it is too irresistible, if I don't get it I'll regret for the rest of my life. Few sites that I visit on a daily basis: My Deal, Groupon, everyday, hahah, and alldealsasia.

The restaurant is at Solaris Dutamas, in a secluded area, or maybe because it is weekend? But it is not that hard to find. Easiest way...GPS lo ^^ There are many more nice-looking restaurant at that area, which looks like it's worth trying.

There are 9 mains which we can choose from. Guess which did I chose? Each sets comes with a salad, soup, dessert and drink. Adding all up it will be 5-course, duh...

Before the food photos, let's look at the interior of the restaurant:

All very brownish and yellowish, idk what kind of feel they wanna achieve, brick walls, wood ceiling, chandelier...

Okla...back to the food la...i'm not very good in taking photograph of stuff other than food...paiseh...

1st to arrived is the salad,the deal is stated that there are 2 choices of salad, but the waiter told us that there is only 1, but the only difference between the 2 salad is that 1 is with chicken and the other with prawn. We had the 1 with ebi tempura. The salad would be much better if the veggies are fresh, also I find the sauce abit too sour. Also, there is no sign of chickpeas like what's stated in the menu.

Next up is the asparagus soup, which look abit yellowish...I thought asparagus is supposed to be green? hmmphh...There are supposed to be mushroom soup, again this proves online deal is too good to be true...but I'm not complaining either..the asparagus soup is good nevertheless, very creamy indeed..

Spaghetti Salmon. The salmon looks quite thin, but I guess it's good cos it is wiped clean off the plate o.O

Grilled Sirloin Steak. Again, tis is not mine so I did not try, te meat looks so thin and the sauce flooded the meat.

Yay!! Mine at last !! Fettuccini Carbonara w beef bacon. Yummy and very creamy. But the fettuccini is a tad overcooked.

Spaghetti Baked Seafood with a lot of mussels, clams, prawns and squids....

Grilled Chicken with Sausage. The sauce is good..is it mushroom sauce? I don't remember...I phail as a food blogger...I loved the mashed potato also...

Dessert time!! As a self-declared choco lover, I of course had the chocolate ice cream with pudding...

Ugly face...look!! the love letter is so hard....just kidding...it is just nice...

I look fat here but no choice...only picture of us...

The food here is ok for the price we paid...so no complains but I most probably would not return as we had already try most of the food there ;p

Antipasti Buffet at Spasso Milano

You guys must be wondering what's antipasti, it is the plural of antipasto which means 'before the meal' or easier said is appetiser in the Italian language. For a person like me who has never tasted Italian in a classy Italian Restaurant, the experience in Spasso Milano really open up my eyes. The restaurant is located in the heart of KL, Nihonkan Club, Jalan Ampang. It is actually not hard to find, from KLCC onwards just go straight all the way or easier get a GPS... ;p

Ok, back to the buffet, cos there's no point listening on how-to-go from a person like me who doesn't know her way. So, I 1st read of this buffet from a fellow Nuffnang blogger, and I did a find on 'Antipasti Buffet KL', I love the convenience of the digital world. After tons of good reviews and slurp-ing photos, we decided to have our anniversary lunch at Spasso Milano. They only served this buffet for weekend lunch.

The buffet is priced at RM18++ per person. And you can add RM 3 or more for a main of your choice. The selection here are not very extensive, alot of the food which is shown here and here, are not there during our visit. I guess those are paid review or is it they serve different variations every week, idk. The buffet price does not come with drinks, so we only had plain water, which is free, yeah, we are very poor.

The soup is good, very creamy. The bread is quite hard as it is cold.

Yummy~yummy selections, but all the food there is nothing to shout about lo...all cold de...

We ordered the Tagliatelle Napolitana by adding aother RM3. This is the best dish that we had there. We were wondering why they need to place it in such big plate.

The interior of the restaurant is modern, and comfortable, the lighting is dim, also loved the free parking, you know how impossible it is to get a free parking in KL. The Nihonkan Club provides an ample of free parking spaces, how kewl is that.
