How to Manage Permissions/Revoke Access to Apps & services using Microsoft Account

Once you connect your Microsoft Account account by signing in with Microsoft Account Sign-In to a third-party website, mobile app, game, or other online service, you can manage the following settings or disconnect from the app.

Navigate to your Microsoft account page https://account.microsoft.com
Click on Security & privacy at the top navigation.
Click Manage permissions under the Apps & services section
Click Edit for the app you want to manage.
You can disconnect an app you've connected to Microsoft Account at any time.

Publish as major version SharePoint file with workflow 2013 REST API

But does not have any actions for check in as Major version (publish)

To solve this, we can use the "call http web service" action with SharePoint REST API.

Follow these steps to check in a File as major version (publish):

1. Create a Workflow 2013 in SharePoint Designer

2. Rename the Stage to "Published"

3. Add a Build Dictionary action and name the output variable "JSonRequestHeader". Add a string variable named content-type with the value application/json;odata=verbose and add a new string variable named Accept with the value application/json;odata=verbose and click OK

4. Add a new Build Dictionary action and name the output variable "JSonRequestParameters"

Add a string variable named comment with the value Published by workflow

5. Check Out the file

6. Add Call http web service action with these properties:

Five SharePoint Apps for Windows Phone

One of the best advantage of Windows Phone is the ability to access and edit/add Office documents on SharePoint Online (Office 365) via the Office hub app, a truly great and unique capability of Windows Phone. The Office hub app is built right into the phone so you can easily browse document libraries, open documents, edits and save them back to SharePoint Online. You can even pin a SharePoint site directly to the home screen.

Although the Office hub app working perfectly with document libraries, the integration with SharePoint lists is a bit different. You cannot add/edit list items or pin them to the home screen. Currently lists items are just enumerated and items are always sorted alphabetically by title. Very often users would like to have the possibility to sort by other criteria or fields (e.g. task items need to be sorted by due date and the by important field).
This year on March, Microsoft released the SharePoint SDK for Windows Phone 8, a great opportunity for SharePoint Developers to build apps for Windows Phone. Thanks to this SDK, I built 5 native SharePoint List apps for Windows Phone:

Tasks - List to track information about projects and other to-do events for your team
Calendar - List for all of your team's events
Announcements - List to share news
Issue tracking - Use an issue-tracking list to store information about specific issues
Contacts - Use the contacts list to store information about people or groups that you work with.

App features:

» View/Edit/New/Delete items
» Live tile information (except Contacts app)
» Set item limit
» Sorting - determine the order in which the items in the views are displayed
» Take a picture (or select a file) and Upload it

Use these apps on a Windows Phone
To use these apps you must have a SharePoint site set up in SharePoint Server 2010, 2013 or Office 365 SharePoint Online. Your SharePoint Server must be configured with basic authentication in order to sign in to the apps. (Your system administrator can help you with this)

To connect, type your List Title and your SharePoint site URL
Then sign in with your username and password.

All apps are available for free :-) at the Windows Phone Store as a Windows Phone 7 and Windows Phone 8 version

After searching and testing, the following steps were needed to enable FAST search to crawl SQL contents using BCS and secure store:

• Add the search crawl account as an admininistrator on the BCS service application
• Give the search crawl account execute permission on the BCS models you want to index from the BCS service application
• Add the search crawl account to the Secure store application used by the BCS model

type "installer" (that opens the %windir%\installer folder), make sure all files are visible in Windows (Folder Settings)

sort on the Subject column and scroll down until you locate the name mentioned in your error screen ("Office 15 Click-to-Run Licensing COmponent")
right click the MSI and choose uninstall
Done :-) (could be that you need to reboot, but normally not necessary)

Accessing SharePoint Lists by Using WCF Data Services in Windows 8 app

This walkthrough shows how to create a Windows 8 app that displays SharePoint Announcement, Tasks, Calendar and Documents lists information by using the ListData.svc WCF data service .

Prerequisites

Download the Windows 8 Developer tools and SDK
WCF Data Services Tools for Windows Store Apps
Visual Studio 2012 / Windows 8 / SharePoint 2010 or SharePoint 2013

Creating a Windows Store Application

Launch Visual Studio 2012 and select File > New Project.
Create a new Visual C# project using the Grid Application template.
Add a Service Reference. In Solution Explorer, right-click the name of the project and then click Add Service Reference.
In the Address box, type the URL to the target site and append /_vti_bin/ListData.svc.
Change the default name in the Namespace box from ServiceReference1 to something more appropriate, such as SharePointService.
Click OK to create proxy classes, including a data context and entity classes for the lists that you want to access.

Creating the DataSource for the Grid

Right mouse click on the "DataModel" folder and add a new class and call the new class SharePointDataSource.cs

Download or view the complete SharePointDataSource.cs here and be sure to replace the "Servername", "username", "password" and "domain" with the server and credentials of your server that's running SharePoint.
Make sure to replace the DataSource on you project. Find all data:SampleDataSource in the xaml files, and replace it with data:SharePointDataSource. And in the xaml.cs files replace all SampleDataSource with SharePointDataSource.

Access sharepoint templates from Office client application

Recently I was asked to look into the Connect to Office (Add to SharePoint Sites) and Publish Links to Office Client Applications features in SharePoint 2010. There seems to be some confusion between their relationship. So, I decided to clear the confusion and to blog about it to help people understand the differences between them. Here are my findings:

First, let's connect to Office.

To Connect to Office follow these steps:

Navigate to the site containing the library for which you want to connect to Office.
Click Site Actions, click View All Site Content, and then in the Libraries section, click the name of the library.
On the Library tab, in the Connect & Export group, click the arrow next to Connect to Office.
Click Add to SharePoint sites. A “Library added” message is displayed, indicating that the current SharePoint site has been added to the shortcut bar of the Office Save As and Open dialog boxes.

SharePoint 2010 also allows farm administrators to Publish Links to Office Client Applications so that certain users can easily save Office client files in SharePoint. This means a central place where administration can add links for certain users to be able to save Office client files in SharePoint.

To Publish Links to Office Client Applications follow these steps:

On the home page of the SharePoint Central Administration Web site, in the Application Management section, click Manage service applications.
Click in the Type column of the User Profile Service application to select the row.
In the Operations group of the ribbon, click Manage
On the Manage Profile Service page, in the My Site Settings section, click Publish Links to Office Client Applications.
On the Published links to Office client applications page, click New Link.
On the Add Published Link page, in the URL box, type the URL of the location where users will be able to publish links.
In the Description box, type a brief name for this location.
This is the name that will appear in the Favorite Links section of the Save As dialog box.
Select the type of the location that this link represents. For example, if the target location is a SharePoint document library, select Document Library.
In the Target Audiences box, either type the name of the user or group to add or using the address book to find a user or group to add.

The figure below shows the differences between these two features (click on a figure to enlarge).

The only common functionality between these two features is the Open and Save to SharePoint from Office clients. Here is a table showing the differences between these features:

Caution: Incorrectly editing the registry might severely damage your system. Before making changes to the registry, you should back up any valued data on the computer.

Issues regarding these fetures can occur for one or more of the following reasons:

The user is running a 64-bit version of Internet Explorer.
The ActiveX control necessary for Connect to Office is not installed or is not running in the browser.
Microsoft Office is not installed on the client computer.
The version of Office that is installed is earlier than Office 2010 on the client computer
Security settings in Internet Explorer prevent ActiveX controls from running.
The browser does not support ActiveX.
