Cookie favors for the American's Womens Club meeting.

I love catering for the American Women's Club...and love visiting their beautiful homes. This is the second year I am catering for their meeting. They are a wonderful group of ladies, always working very hard to raise money for charity. Catering for them is very meaningful. That day, it was pouring in Shanghai and it took 45mins to get from Changle Lu to Huashan Lu. We were getting close to very late. And we manage to set the table in Half an Hour. I was very impressed so is Myszka.

DIY: snowflake ornaments

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Tue, 19 Aug 2008 19:03:00 +0000

Follow these easy steps to make whimsical ornaments perfect for decorating or gifting.

What You'll Need for the Large Snowflake Pictured:

3 sheets of 8½" by 11" heavyweight paper —we used double-sided metallic cover paper from Archiver's
1 sheet for the larger loops (shown here in red)
2 sheets for the smaller loops (shown here in gold)
X-acto knife
Ruler
½" double-sided tape
18" piece of ribbon

Step 1: Cut Strips
Cut your paper into 1"-wide strips. You will need seven 8"-long strips for the larger loops, twelve 6"-long strips for the smaller loops.

Step 2: Make Loops
Using your double-sided tape, make all of your strips into loops. Double-sided tape should be strong enough for most papers but, if needed, you can use regular clear tape on the outside of your seams to make your loops extra secure.

Step 3: Assemble the Spokes
To make the spokes of your snowflake, use double-sided tape to attach two small loops to a large loop—one attached to the inside, one to the outside. You should have one large loop remaining. This is the center of your snowflake.

Step 4: Attach the Spokes
Arrange your spokes around the center loop and attach them with double-sided tape.

Step 5: Attach Loops
Use double-sided tape to attach the sides of your spokes together.

Step 6: Attach Ribbon
Tie on your ribbon and hang!

Note: Experiment with different configurations and papers. The center snowflake pictured was made by pinching the loops into a petal shape. The snowflake on the far right was made with white and silver papers.

Creative Space

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Sun, 17 Aug 2008 08:57:00 +0000

This is absolutely stunning. taking the 2 dimensional brand image apart and reconstructed in a 3d space.

For a brand to be successful it has to have strong presence. If only retails owners realise the power of branding. I am not talking about the flat stuff...like logo, promotional items etc. It is taking the brand, it's element and identity and putting into a space. You will feel the brand throughout and connect with what the brand represents. This is about environmental graphics.

Of course, there are issue on budget. however with smart design, you can create an experience with even the smaller budget. Take the elements of a brand and use them as a guide to layout and decorate the space.

A Priceless Gift

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Sun, 10 Aug 2008 12:56:00 +0000

This is one of the best present a child can receive on their 21st birthday. It will take at least a year to document and a few thousand rmb for a camera and another few k for printing and binding, however, that will depends on the number of pages, copies required and complexity. Nevertheless, it's all worth the effort because it will be priceless. And I definitely recommend this to mom-to-be. Start writing!

I will be designing one for my mom's birthday. I know she'll be so happy and the best thing I can give. Memories.

REVIEW: ANAR BAR

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Sun, 10 Aug 2008 05:25:00 +0000

place: Anar Bar, 129 Xingfu Lu
service: You got to meet Ivan. Bar managers should model after him.
Summing up in words: Lost & Found

Last night. bar hopped on Will's bike with grasovdka vodka all night. The first was outrageous. Nearly fall asleep. Don't bother mentioning where it is. Second, is at Shanghai Studio. I actually was impressed with Fabien Seguin's gallery more than anything. One place worth noting is our last stop at Anar Bar. What suppose to be a half and hour "hello" to Jinhua & Ivan extended to 3 hours of good music.

Minimal. describes the place and music. The last time I ever enjoyed was my trip back to Singapore clubbing at Zouk with Nick. The music was so good that you can go without cigarettes the whole night. I feel the same at Anar. Just 2 of us. Individuality is the style of Anar, people and its music. The best local Djs, the team from DKD spins there. It a place that didn't need a crowd or pretentious people. Casual, T-shirts and bums. The owners club with you. You will talk to Djs about their music. Ivan the manager gladly tells you about their style. He does it with no snobs. I'll be the next Saturday 16 March. I don't think it ever need a cafe or restaurant like Stella planned, maybe a wine bar will work. just good drinks and music. This place should be RSVP.

KK's family tale

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Sat, 09 Aug 2008 06:25:00 +0000

This is one of the most beautiful book ever. It will be a treasure to the family and friends.

"This first vignette shares the story of KK’s big brother William, who sadly only lived a few hours. Amazingly, one year later on William’s exact birthday little KK was born. KK was weeks premature and spent her first 4 months in the hospital, but she is now celebrating her first birthday. Alison wrote this second vignette about all the nurses and doctors - extended family - who helped give KK her start in this world along with her guardian angel big brother."
