I’ll briefly give my opinions of both the company and this product…

Company Review
Although M2 Skin is a new name, MaMa lotion has been around for quite some time. In fact, they seemed to be some of the most widely used mandelic and malic acid products on the market. For this reason, in a way I feel the name change was bad for the company since this product had been established as such a brand name. However at the same time, I realize that MaMa Lotion conjures up assumptions that it’s something a mother made, when in reality the “MaMa” names comes from MAndelic acid and MAlic acid. So in that sense, I understand why they decided to change to M2 Skin. The company is based out of Utah.

Product Review

Size: M2 Skin Refinish 20% comes in a 1.7 ounce bottle. This is a typical, standard size for products. It may come in larger sizes too which give you more bang for your buck, but I’m only aware of the 1.7 ounce bottle.

Cost: Of course the price varies by retailer, but it’s in the mid-level range. However I notice prices online for M2 skin care are much cheaper than what cosmetic stores charge.

Ingredients: The ingredients are simple, in a good way. The top four are water, mandelic acid, malic acid, algae extract. There are others too like hyaluronic and aloe, but the main ones are mandelic acid, malic acid, and algae extract.

The two acids are excellent exfoliations that help to rejuvenate the skin, even tone, and improve texture. Mandelic acid is also a natural antibacterial; therefore it can be a good choice for acne sufferers. The algae extract assists with nourishing and moisturizing the skin.

Verdict
M2 Skin Refinish (MaMa lotion) has been around for a while and have a cult following of loyal customers. They have to be doing something right to have so many people choosing them over the other guys. If you want an excellent alpha hydroxy cream with a strength that will help you really get results, then consider M2 Skin / MaMa lotion.

Today, this company is one of the most popular when it comes to specialty skin care products. Their product lines are considered to be on the mid to high end range, with prices ranging from around $20 all the way up to more than $100. From what I was able to gather on their website, the company works entirely within the dermatological field. This is nice, because some companies like Olay (owned by Proctor & Gamble) I feel are trying to do too many things at once, so it’s nice to know there are still some companies that choose to do one thing (skin care) and do it right.

This is an interesting product in that it combines both alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) as well as beta hydroxy acid (BHA)… hence the name AHA BHA cream. It uses a very potent formulation of 15%. If you are familiar with alpha hydroxy creams, you will know this is on the higher end of the spectrum. So you can probably expect to have temporary tingling when using this product, or at least at first.

Size: The product comes in a plastic bottle which is 2 ounces. Therefore, this is slightly more than the typical 1.7 ounce you see with creams.

Benefits: Acting as a strong, duel AHA/BHA formulation, this cream is said to be helpful in removing dead skin cells from the skins surface, and therefore helping your face reveal new, fresh skin underneath. Verdict
Although I have not had a chance to try SkinMedica AHA BHA cream yet myself, it definitely sounds like a promising product. I know my experiences with SkinMedica skin care products have been positive, and I also know that this is a strong concentration which should have a potent effect. Also the price is on the lower end, which is helpful. Therefore this is a product which I would feel confident recommending.
