Audience Development Leader Adds Three Members of Endemol’s Former Digital Entertainment Production And Development Team

Apr 18, 2012, San Francisco, Calif. - Alphabird today announced that it has expanded its offerings as a vertically integrated global audience development company by launching an original content development and branded video production unit run by members of the acclaimed programming team from worldwide entertainment leader Endemol. This addition – which marks the opening of Alphabird’s Beverly Hills office – will marry cutting edge original branded programming with guaranteed audiences across the Alphabird Editorial Network, powered by the FLIGHT technology platform.

“By bringing aboard internationally renowned creative talent that has earned several industry awards, combined with the guaranteed viewership of millions of people around the world, we’re enhancing our capabilities to not only deliver the largest audiences to online video, we now have the firepower to develop and produce that content in-house,” said Chase Norlin, Alphabird CEO. “Furthermore, the integration of one of the most powerful production teams in branded entertainment enables us to provide brands direct access to the full lifecycle of a creative video content advertising campaign. This furthers our mission of having the broadest and deepest audience offering in the online video industry.”

The latest addition to Alphabird brings executive leadership from worldwide entertainment production company Endemol, whose programming includes the reality television series “Wipeout”, “Big Brother” and “Deal or No Deal,” the latter of which has been sold to more than 100 countries. The teams digital successes include the 2012 Webby Award-winning MLB Fan Cave, Married on MySpace and James Hyde Steals the Show.

“Hiring the Endemol team to identify opportunities and create original branded content for Alphabird’s network makes perfect sense,” said Rob Donnell, President and Founder of Brand Arc, an L.A.-based entertainment marketing agency that has landed client Toyota meaty roles in the plots of some scripted TV series like “Modern Family,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “24,” along with unscripted shows, such as “Top Chef” and the aforementioned Endemol digital production, James Hyde Steals the Show. “Eyeballs, advertisers: Each partner adds value to the equation.”

The former Endemol unit includes head of digital development and distribution Russell Naftal, head of digital production Johnny McMahon, and head of integrated partnerships and marketing Kelli Usher, each of whom is now responsible for overseeing and managing development and production for all original digital content and branded entertainment initiatives around the world for Alphabird.

About Alphabird

http://www.Alphabird.com is a vertically integrated audience development company that guarantees targeted, engaged audiences for online video on a performance basis. Alphabird was an early pioneer in the distribution of Click-To-Play video content and has delivered tens of millions of engaged viewers for major studios, agencies and Fortune 1000 brands.

The Alphabird investor group is led by Joe Abrams. Abrams co-founded Intermix in 1998, the predecessor company to MySpace, which was sold to News Corp. in 2005 for $580 million. In 1983, Abrams co-founded The Software Toolworks, Inc., a publicly held developer, publisher, and distributor of educational and entertainment software, which was sold to Pearson, Plc. in 1994 for $462 million.

Alphabird Chief Revenue Officer Alex Rowland and Director of Sales Nic de Castro penned their predictions for what lies in store for online video for content producers and consumers, as well as for brands and publishers for SmartBrief.com.

As we near the end of 2011, it’s only natural to make predictions in anticipation of the new year and what might be in store in the world of online video. During the past year, we saw unprecedented growth in advertisers creating content-driven video in ways that elegantly put their brands to the top of their audience’s mind in a nontraditional advertising format. We think 2011 was a mere glimpse of what online video advertising will become during the next few years.

There was a good amount of discussion on CPV (Charge Per View) — essentially creating two to three minutes of content that is created/sponsored by agencies and can pay few tens of cents per view, which equals few hundreds dollars CPM. Companies like Alphabird…were on panels and had a lot to offer in this space. This is the same space where companies like GoViral got acquired by AOL for $100 milion earlier this year.
