Apply For 2012/2013 Lagos State Scholarship Award For Undergraduates

The governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola has approved the release of N77, 536,621.20 as Local scholarship award to 337 qualified state indigenes in various tertiary institutions throughout the country for 2012/2013 session.
According to the Secretary, Lagos State Scholarship Board, Mrs. Yetunde Jegede, who disclosed this few days ago, the concerned awardees are the 223 undergraduate students with 3.5 Grade Point
and above and 74 Post Graduate students who took part in the last conducted Local Scholarship interview in January 2012.
“The list also includes 40 undergraduate students who automatically qualified for Merit Award having got 4.0 Grade Point and above”. Jegede stated.

She explained that documentation exercise in readiness for the presentation of award to this category of awardees will commence on Monday October 22, 2012 at the Board premises, Agege. Thereafter, ATM Cards would be released to awardees that have been cleared.

Concerned students are therefore advised to come for the exercise with original and photocopies of the following documents:
i. School Identity Card
ii. Current Progress Report
iii. Two passport photographs
iii. Letter of Admission.
iv. N2, 000.00 LSSB Brochure receipt obtained from the Office of
the Special Adviser on Education, Alausa
v. Every other document that were not submitted before now
The award value ranges between N200, 000.00, N300, 000.00 and N400, 000.00 for Undergraduate, Master’s and Doctorate students respectively.

Lagos State Scholarship Award for 2012/2013
Meanwhile, online sale of Local Scholarship Award for 2012/2013 Session will also start on Monday 22nd October, 2012. iPad Mini To Be Revealed On 23rd October

Although the iPad Mini — Apple’s unconfirmed cheaper and smaller version of the iPad tablet — was widely rumored to be revealed Oct. 17, with invitations supposedly coming Oct. 10, the invites never came. Now, 'All Things D' claims the device will be unveiled Oct. 23, citing people familiar with Apple’s plans.

At this point, all the info surrounding the rumored 7.85-inch device is just that — a rumor, and that includes the date of the announcement. Plus, the October 23 is a Tuesday, and Apple has often been known to hold events on Wednesdays.

Still, the rumors swirling around the iPad mini — if that, indeed, is its name — have been too strong to ignore. The device is reportedly in mass production in Asia, and Apple has reportedly already ordered 10 million units.

Actual details about the iPad mini’s technical specifications are sparse. The only thing “known” about it so far is that it will have a 7.85-inch screen, with a lower resolution than that of the iPad.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange is pleased to announce the commencement of the 11th edition of the Annual National Essay Competition for secondary and Tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The competition’s overall goal is to develop a culture of wealth creation amongst our youth with the theme ‘Catching Them Young’.

Entry Procedures and Rules:

-Only one entry per person is allowed

-All entries must be accompanied with the competitor’s entry form

-The Essay competition is open for two categories; students in senior secondary school and tertiary institutions in Nigeria

-Entries must be typewritten in English and not more than 2,000 words

-Essays must be original and unpublished

-All national winners are entitled to a certificate and plaque

-1st Prize winners’ institutions shall receive a trophy each

-34 state winners including FCT shall receive consolation prizes

-Names of winners and runners-up will be published in select Newspapers

-Entries close November 2, 2012

-Equivalent cash prizes will be given out in form of shares of quoted companies
