I finally get to share one of my favourite images from a maternity session I did in November, you may remember the one I’m talking about – it involved lots of twinkly Christmas lights, see here. Chris and Scott are gamers and love Scrabble, so we had the idea of placing Scrabble tiles on the belly to spell out baby names… all three potential baby names, one girl and two boy options. The baby names were a surprise for everyone as was the sex of the baby! I’m not allowed to share the other names because who knows what other beautiful babies will come into their lives in the future, but I do get to share the name of this handsome little boy! Xavier, only 10 days old here and totally at home in the arms of his loving parents.
Sleep may be a luxury these days but I think Chris and Scott are soaking up every precious baby roll and baby coo they can handle! Who can blame them, this big boy would have anyone wrapped around their finger with one glance.

Soon this little man will be a big brother. Linds and Jordan decided to celebrate their first born with some photos before their much anticipated new little love comes along. Lucky for me, that means I get the privilege of three sessions with them in 2012, yay! First, Chase and all his expressive faces, then the belly and finally the beautiful family of four when #2 arrives. Chase is at such a great age, at two they learn so many new skills from talking to counting to colouring happy faces, and lastly to avoid a camera at all costs. No problem, just means I get my cardio for the day. We found a great trick though, place a little plastic dinosaur on top of my lens and voila you get gorgeous smiles and big blue eyes. Look at this mini MR., a man to melt your heart. xo

A little man is arriving soon and it’s easy to tell, this hot mama-to-be is radiant. I don’t know if it is always the case but I know that my daughter drained all the pretty from me while I was pregnant, they say girls do so to take it for themselves. Boys leave you glowing and beautiful for the duration of your pregnancy and Jess is proving that wives tale true! Not to mention, guessing based on the shape of the belly, beach ball means boy… yup, win again.
We took on Toronto for this session, first at their sleek condo which was filled with gorgeous lighting and plenty of textures. Then we hit a few spots they frequent while taking their morning stroll together. I love that Jess and Mike wanted to make it so personal, one day they will look back and really remember this time together, not just because of the photos but because it was real. We decided to warm up with a hot chocolate at the Distillery to end the evening. Every minute with these two was awesome and I can’t wait to meet little baby blue when he arrives in February.

This year is off to a great start and it’s been a busy one so far. I’m excited to keep up this great energy and look forward to all the wonderful families, faces and precious newborns I will meet this year!

Remember this gorgeous mom-to-be? Had to post this photo to remind us that we are only a few months away from brilliant sunsets and blossoms. Taken in May, this was definitely a highlight from 2011! We welcome Alison back to Ontario for a visit with her new baby girl, Heidi and her handsome hubby, Guido. Though Alison shines bright on her own, surrounded by her beautiful family she could light up the night sky.
We squeezed in this shoot on December 23rd because they were visiting from British Columbia and how could I refuse, it’s more than an honour to have out of town clients, it’s a privilege. Not to mention, spending a little of my holiday with a beauty like Heidi is a treat. She is such a sweet little baby, barely a peep, braving the cold and giving me her full attention with those curious eyes.
The mother and daughter image near the end, capturing Alison breathing in Heidi’s scent… that is one of my all time favourite shots. Remembering those blissful moments in the beginning is so important. It is cliche to say they grow up so quickly but it’s true, being able to document an emotion is the best part of my job. While Heidi slept on her moms chest, I was set on catching the little hand resting near Alison’s heart, it reminded me of when Em was a babe. Alison, I hope that it will always give you that same tender reminder of the bond you share with her, it is strong, powerful and everlasting.

Welcome to 2012, a new year to document the life of my little girl. My project 365 last year was the most rewarding challenge I’ve ever given myself. It moulded my style as a child photographer, it formed a new bond between me and Em and I now have 365 days (well minus a day) worth of images to illustrate Em’s year and Oh, what a year it was!
This year I wanted to take the pressure off because though it was an awesome thing to accomplish, it also took its toll some days. From getting frustrated because I couldn’t get the desired shot to feeling guilty for not posting daily to finally being so overwhelmed during my busy season that the threesixfivephotos blog had to take the back burner completely. I’ve also had a bit of concern about how much of my personal life and my daughters life is posted online. With all of that to consider, I’ve decided a few things, one, this year is a Project 104 – two photos per week. Two, I won’t be posting them on the threesixfivephotos blog anymore, I will occasionally post my favorites here and for my friends and family, there will always be Facebook!
I didn’t take a photo yesterday and I was already missing it today so I grabbed my camera and plopped Em on her bed, ironically it’s a place she rarely likes to be these days as we all suffer from sleep deprivation over here. Her new Zozobugbaby blanket was what inspired me to take my first photo of 2012 (not including images taken with my new iPad), the blanket was her big Christmas present from us and she loves it to bits, as do I!

What a year!!! Thank you to all the amazing people, family, friends and clients alike who have allowed me to do what I love. Being able to capture these moments of pure joy has made my year one to remember. I’m welcoming 2012 with open arms, can’t wait to see the smiles, the tears, the kisses, the embraces and everything in between.

Are you ready for Christmas? If not these photos will get you in the mood. The colours, the beautiful little models, the sparkles (that are still in my hair), it all screams Christmas and Santa is just around the corner.
I held my first one-on-one workshop this weekend and it was a great success. Hope was the best student and we had a wonderful time, playing, learning and taking photos. With these images to show for it, I don’t think there’s much left to say.
You’ll find Hope’s images and a few words below my photos from the day. The composition of her first one speaks volumes for the creative ability this woman has, let’s give her a big shout out. Thanks for calling on me Hope, it was an honour and a pleasure teaching you.

I don’t think the day could have gone any better.
I had all my focusing and exposure issues worked out right away which gave me the opportunity to really enjoy the photo shoot and take some great pictures. The models were AMAZING…very sweet and lots of fun!
The fact that I no longer feel like Photoshop is just that expensive scary monster that lives in my computer is in itself a huge accomplishment. I am surprised at how quickly I picked it up once I got going. I asked a million questions and got a million very thoughtful and patient answers. I can’t wait to put my new skills to use!
