iPod Touch 4G now with FaceTime, Retina Display and HD Video Recording

One of my favorite update from yesterday event was iPod Touch 4^th generation. This update truly makes iPod Touch the best media player with portable gaming console.

The new iPod Touch now has the A4 processor that is the Apple’s in-house manufactured chip and the same has been used in iPhone 4 and iPad. With this processor iPod touch can easily perform complex jobs such as multitasking, editing video, and placing FaceTime calls and not to forget the irresistible gaming experience.

The next big thing with the new iPod Touch is the set slandered Retina display with 960×640 pixels resolution with Backlit LCD display.

Another thing which users always wanted to have is the camera, and Apple has got it in this update but the good thing is that they just not got one but a dual camera. One front facing which would be used for FaceTime (Video calls) and the another one at the back which has the ability to record HD videos; though Apple has not mentioned the mega-pixels information about either of the camera, but we can assume that it would have the same 5 mega-pixel camera at back which is used in iPhone 4 aswell.

The new iPod touch also got the three-axis gyroscope, the gyro makes iPod touch capable of advanced motion sensing such as user acceleration, full 3D attitude, and rotation rate.

iPod Touch 4G also gets update as design wise and Apple made it thinner and lighter this time. With its curved design, iPod touch is now a mere 7.2 millimeters thin.

iPod Touch 4G will be available in three models 8GB for $229, 32GB for $299 and 64GB for $399.

iPod Nano 6G Much Smaller with Multi-Touch interface

In yesterday’s Apple media event, iPod line up got major updates and iPod Nano also gets a major update in design, size and features aswell.

iPod Nano 6G squeezed in size and get a square shape along with multi-touch user interface which is like using iOS on a small screen.

The new iPod Nano also gets lighter and smaller as per Apple this new version is 46% smaller and 42% lighter than is predecessor.

iPod Nano 6G has got Voice over and FM radio, Nike+ and pedometer but one thing which got removed from the earlier version is the camera, that probably because of the new size. iPod Nano now has the battery life of 1 day.

Like iPod shuffle, iPod nano also comes and variety of colors; in this case it comes in 7 colors with capacity of 8GB and 16GB with a price of $149 and $179 respectively.

New iPod Shuffle 4G Gets a Design Revamp with Buttons

Apple has redesigned it’s smallest kid the iPod Shuffle; while the previous version didn’t have any buttons and it work all on voice commands has now easy to use buttons while it still is small or I should say cute.

The new iPod shuffle has the same features which previous version had like VoiceOver, Playlists and Genius Mixes.

The new version of iPod shuffle has the capacity of 2GB and will be available in 5 different colors and gives battery life of 15 hours.

Talking about the availability and price; this small kid will be shipping by next week and will be available for $49.

How to Watch Apple September 1st Media Event Live Streaming on Windows and Linux

Apple just surprised everyone by announcing that they will be live streaming the keynote of today’s music event however the limitation along with the streaming was so annoying for many users as the streaming will only work on Mac OS X 10.6 or iPhone, iPad Touch and iPad.

But Thanks to MacRumors for a quick workaround that enables Apple’s event live streaming to work cross platform for i.e. for Windows and Linux users aswell.

1. Download VLC and install it on your computer.

2. Open VLC and go to Media -> Open Network Stream and paste the following link there.

3. Now click open and enjoy the live stream.

Note: You may need to reload the stream repeatedly to keep it working.

Yesterday I shared a whole list of resources where you can catch live coverage of Apple’s fall event; but Apple itself made history today by announcing that it will be Live streaming this event.

This hasn’t happen ever that Apple will be live streaming keynote of its event. This also builds up curiosity that something really big and special is about to revealed.

The streaming will kick-start at 10:00 AM PDT (different regions time) at www.apple.com. However to view the stream live you will either have to be using Safari on Mac OS X 10.6 or iPhone and iPod Touch running 3.0 or higher firmware or an iPad (Not really, there is a hack which lets you watch streaming on Windows and Linux aswell check it out)

Apple® will broadcast its September 1 event online using Apple’s industry-leading HTTP Live Streaming, which is based on open standards. Apple to Enhance iTunes User Experience and Double Sample Music to 60 Seconds

According to a CNET report Steve Jobs is expected to announce plenty of user experience improvement features in iTunes one of which is the increase in sample song, until now iTunes lets you listen to a 30 second sample of a song before buying it however if reports are to be believed it will be doubled to 60 seconds and this announcement is expected to be made at upcoming Music related event by Apple on September 1^st, 2010.

The report also denies the rumor of Cloud based iTunes as Apple has not been able to get the rights to do cloud distribution at this point of time.

It is really annoying when you can’t use your iPhone while it is being synced with iTunes but no worries anymore because there is an app for that in Cydia store.

Synchronicity is a nifty utility app, which allows you to do anything like using apps, web browsing and making calls all it restricts you to run Music app to prevent data corruption, while your iPhone/iPod Touch is being synced with iTunes.

Synchronicity is available in Cydia store for $2.00 via BigBoss repository. It works with all jailbroken iDevices running iOS 4.0+

About the performance the developer said that the overall performance is virtually unaffected while users may notice slight lag in certain operations.

Activate FaceTime on Jailbroken/Unlocked iPhone 4 (Unofficial Carriers) with MiTime Fix

A fix called “MiTime” has been arrived to activate FaceTime on jailbroken and unlocked iPhone 4 using unofficial carrier.

This fix has been released by the same folks who have previously released PushFix for iPhone, which is a renowned Push Notification fix.

MiTime uses international SMS facility to activate your device for FaceTime so for this reason it is not Free at this time and comes with a price tag of $5.99. So, to use MiTime to activate your device for FaceTime your device must be able to receive international SMS.

Follow the instructions posted below to active FaceTime on your iPhone 4 using MiTime.

1. First you’ll need purchase MiTime before installing it on your device. MiTime will not run on unauthorized devices. The number on your phone (Settings -> Phone) must match the number you entered on the website. You do not need to touch the FaceTime toggle in Settings -> Phone and should not need to change it ever again. If you turn off FaceTime, just run MiTime again and it will re-enable it the proper way

2. After authorizing your device on MiTime website Goto Cydia and add http://cydia.pushfix.info repository then Search for “MiTime” and install it.

3. IF you are outside the US, check your phone # in Settings -> Phone. Your phone number must be correct and should have the + symbol at the front of it. You should NOT continue unless your phone # is exactly the one that you entered on the purchase page of MiTime.info

4. Run MiTime and verify you are authorized – If your phone # matches, you will be.

5. See below and compare to what you have on the screen:

If it says “Ready for activation” and has an “Activate” button, you are ready to use a credit to activate.

If it does NOT say “Ready for activation”, leave it at the this screen until it resets FaceTime® and re-springs (2 minutes). After re-spring, unlock the phone and within one minute it should warn you about costs – IMPORTANT–>click OK. If it doesn’t warn you or does not reset, see the troubleshooting tips below.

If it says “Activated” you can stop here. It will back up your FaceTime® activation for later recovery.

6. If you are ready, tap the Activate button and follow the prompts. Only send one activation request and wait for up to 15 minutes. It should only take 1 minute, but don’t waste your activation credits. If it doesn’t activate after 15 minutes, eject and re-insert your SIM. Wait 1 minute and then reboot.

7. If it says the request was sent, stay on this screen. Within 1 minute usually, you will see it change to Activated.

8. You are done. Once it shows Activated, it has saved your token and FaceTime is fully enabled.

Google iPhone App gets Push Notification Support

Google has rolled out an update for its iPhone app which brings full push notification support for Mail and Calendar.

The push notifications can be setup for GMail aswell as for Google App accounts; the app also comes up with silent-time feature, which you can use to control when to show notifications.

Along with this push notification update Google Mobile app also gets real-time search results for Weather, Currency, Stocks and Flight Info, just type the keyword and it will show the corresponding info without even need to hit “Search”.

Unlock iPhone 4 with ultrasn0w

iPhone Dev team has just released the much awaited ultrasn0w 1.0-1 which you can use to unlock iPhone 4 with 01.59.00 and iPhone 3G/3GS until the latest baseband 05.13.04.

In order to unlock your iPhone 4 to work with any carrier you should first jailbreak your iPhone and then install ultrasn0w 1.0-1 from Cydia, here is a how to guide.

How to Jailbreak and Unlock iPhone 4

1. First of all Jailbreak your iPhone 4 running iOS 4.0 or 4.0.1 (to do that first update your iPhone 4 on the stated firmware then open Safari on your iPhone and visit http://www.jailbreakme.com/ now follow on screen instruction to jailbreak your device)

2. Now that you have successfully jailbroken your iPhone 4, Open Cydia from Springboard and go to Manage -> Sources

3. Now tap on edit and then Add button now type following repository URL http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com/

4. After the source has been added tap on “Return to Cydia”.

5. Now go to Search from bottom menu, type “ultrasn0w” and press search.

IF you are one of those who are having problems in get iBooks work on their jailbroken devices then don’t worry because that issue was encounter related to earlier redsn0w 0.9.5b5-3 release and iPhone-Dev team has acted really fast on that and the good news is that they have released new version for redsn0w 0.9.5 Beta 5 Release 4 which resolve the iBooks issue though you have to jailbreak your device again with the new redsn0w release.

The process is really simple, let me explain you:

First download redsn0w 0.9.5 b5-4 for Mac or Windows
Now connect your device using USB datacable and make sure iTunes is closed
Now open redsnow and choose Original iOS 4 firmware for your respective device, once firmware verified click Next
On next screen deselect “Install Cydia” you don’t need to install it again
Now make sure your device is both turned off and connect to computer using data cable and click Next
Now follow the instruction carefully provided on the screen which guide you how to put your device in Recovery mode
Now let the redsn0w do it job, on completion your device will restart automatically

Download original iOS 4 firmware for your corresponding device.
Download and Install iTunes 9.2

The infamous iPhone-Dev Team has just released latest version of their carrier unlock tool ultrasn0w 0.93 which can be used to unlock iPhone 3G/3GS 4.0 firmware (iOS 4 now) on 05.13.04 baseband.

Here are the step by step guide on how to use ultrasn0w 0.93:

Once you have jaikbroken your iPhone 3G/3GS open Cydia on your iPhone.
Now tap on Manage tab at bottom and choose Sources.
Now you will have to add repository, to do this tap on edit and then Add button now type following repository URL http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com/
After the source has been added tap on “Return to Cydia”.
Now go to Search menu from bottom menu, type “ultrasn0w” and press search.
