Seventy-five years ago on this week (May 27, 1937) was “Pedestrian Day” for the Golden Gate Bridge. Golden Gate Bridge spans the San Francisco Bay from the edge of the city of San Francisco at the Presidio on the southern peninsula to the headlands of Marin County on the north end across the strait.

The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco is one of the most famous landmarks in the world and has been hailed as a modern wonder of the world. Built to connect San Francisco to Marin County, the Golden Gate Bridge was first proposed in 1916. However, construction was not begun on the bridge until 1933. The bridge was designed by Leon Moisseiff, who also designed the Manhattan Bridge in New York. Former presidents are offered a taxable lifetime pension equal to the annual rate of basic pay for the heads of executive branch departments, like the Cabinet Secretaries. This amount is set annually by Congress and is currently (in 2011) $199,700 per year. The pension starts the minute the president officially leaves office at noon on Inauguration Day. Widows of former presidents are provided with a $20,000 annual lifetime pension and mailing privileges, unless they choose to waive their right to the pension.

______The blogger source followed here is Marc Kashinsky and he has an indolent type of Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL), a typically uncommon form of lymphoma, except it so seems otherwise in his case. }:{ He reports being diagnosed over 10 years ago, managing to survive since then without aggressive treatment, by following a few simple rules: "Eat a [mostly] well balanced diet, exercise (cycling, at least up until recently), abstaining from taking supplements or any medications, drinking 5 to 6 cups of [Japanese] green tea a day, and most importantly [lots of good wine], flossing and brushing his teeth twice a day, everyday." }:{ alt@source }:{ Obviously, Marc's specific cancer* and "treatment" path were different from mine, as I had a more aggressive and life-threatening form of MCL that could only be cured with a stem-cell transplant. Despite the difference, he remains a source of information that I value and a blogger I enjoy reading.______
