My heart was in House music and Hip-Hop, so it wasn’t as much fun as I had hoped it would be and decided to just stick to bartending full-time. Don’t get me wrong, if I would have been able to get a gig at a club, say, on South Beach, with a House or Hip-Hop music format, I’d have been all over it, just didn’t happen.

Anyway, I still DJ at home as a hobby. It’s mostly for my own enjoyment, but I make workout mixes for friends who are personal trainers or spin instructors, as well as some of my familia. Even so, I don’t really have an audience to gauge reaction with, I just check out the dance/club charts for the U.S. and Europe, then hit Beatport.com, and grab the ones that I like best. I mix what I would want to hear, if I was out clubbin’, like way back in my party days. Geez, didn’t wanna be too long-winded, so to sum it up quickly, I grew up break-dancing and listening to Hip-Hop, then partied for years on South Beach (Groove Jet, Liquid, Fat Black Pussycat, Blue, Shadow Lounge, etc.) listening to House music. Those are my main influences when I’m mixing.

I made a small mix a couple of weeks ago, in hopes of motivating myself to workout, which of course I haven’t (grrr, no time) yet. It’s a 40 minute house mix intended for cardio. When I get some time, been super busy, I’m gonna put together an Old School Hip-Hop mix next, hopefully in 2 or 3 weeks.
