Around 12,000 years ago, our ancestors must have seen and done something, which may have surprised them too. This was the Neolithic period when humans first saw the plant beings germinated from seed and since then it has been going on to date. We called it “Farming” or “Agriculture”. The understanding of seeds in one of the greatest understandings in human civilization, such as the understanding of fire and the discovery of the wheel.

Time changed, the country changed, farming also changed, but how much? The issue of the betterment of farmers is in every government’s manifesto. Every Prime Minister, Chief Minister wants the progress of all farmers, to make new policies for their development, but have the farmers really developed?

BJP’s oldest ally, the Shiromani Akali Dal, is fighting each other and that’s why Harshimrat Kaur Badal relinquished his ministerial post. Despite the continuous agitation by farmers in various states including Punjab and Haryana, the agricultural bill was passed in both houses of the Parliament. Now, The President also signed it and made it act.

The government implemented these acts through an ordinance on 5th June 2020.

What is an Ordinance?

On the recommendation of the Cabinet, the ordinance is a type of presidential order issued by the President which is similar to the law passed by Parliament, but only when the Parliament is not running. It is mandatory for Parliament to pass the ordinance within 6 weeks of the commencement of the Parliament session, which was done by the Narendra Modi government. The controversy started from here. A group of farmers have protested against the Act since 14 May, when the bill was passed by the Lok Sabha.

What are these three new laws, what is the logic in its favor, and what is in its opposition?

These three new Acts are:

From 13 March 2020, in view of the outbreak of COVID-19 by the Government of India, these items were declared as essential commodities.

What is the Essential Commodities Act?

This is the Act of 1955. The government controls the production, sale, price, supply, distribution of all items that come under this Act. The government has the authority to fix the maximum retail price (MRP) of package items. There is a provision for punishment for selling things at a higher price than the MRP. The Act also said that no one can store more than a limited amount of essential items, there was also a provision of punishment for being caught. The purpose of bringing this Act was to provide essential things easily to the people at a reasonable price.

Essential Commodities Amendment Act, 2020

The Essential Commodities Amendment Bill was passed from the Lok Sabha on May 14, 2020.

The main points of this act are:

According to this act, Essential commodities like cereals, pulses, edible oil, onions, and potatoes are removed from the list of essential commodities in India.
Anyone can now store these above items as much as they want. Only in some situation, it is declared as illegal to store these items in:

Natural Calamity

Merits of this Act

These agricultural foods are not under the control of the government and farmers will be able to fix their own prices and sell them. However, the government will review it from time to time. Strict rules can be imposed if needed.

Demerits of this Act

Artificial fluctuations and low prices for farmers after harvest can be seen due to Unlimited stocking.

Let’s understand Artificial Fluctuations with a real scenario. Suppose an institutional buyer bought a large quantity of grain, at a cheap price and stored it. When the farmer will go to that institutional buyer after harvesting the crops again in the next season then he may refuse to give the fair price to the farmer for his farm produce as he has an abundant amount of grain stored already.

Farmers’ agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 (Farmers’ Empowerment and Protection Agreement i.e. Contract Farming Act, 2020)

The main points of this act are:

It provides a National framework for Contracts Farming through an agreement between a farmer and a buyer before the production. In short, it is “Price before Farming” or Price assurance to farmers even before sowing of crops.
If open market rates fall drastically then this act covers the minimum guaranteed price. In short, it gives protection agreements on price to the farmers.
Modern technology, better seeds, and other inputs can be accessed by farmers through this act.
In the case of dispute, there will be a reconciliation process with the Conciliation Board to settle the dispute. There will be a three-level dispute settlement mechanisms-

Merits of this Act

If a farmer has made a contract, he will get the contracted price of his crop, the fluctuations of the market prices will not affect the farmers.
The produce will be picked up directly from the farm by the purchasing buyer after signing a contract. Farmers will not have to search for buyers/traders.

Demerits of this Act

In case of dispute, Big companies may get an advantage over the group of small farmers.

What is the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC)

APMCs came into existence through APMC Act in the 1950s in India. APMC is a type of open market where farmers go to sell their produce. This is also known as “Krishi mandis or Sarkari mandis” especially in north India. There are approx. 7000 APMCs all over India. After harvesting, farmers go to APMC mandis to sell their produce. Each APMC had licensed middlemen (men between the institutional buyer and the farmer, also known as Artiyas especially in Punjab, Haryana, and in North India) who would buy grain from farmers at prices that were set by the auction before selling to institutional buyers i.e. retailers and big traders. Sometimes these institutional buyers are referred to as “Bicholiyas” especially in Punjab, Haryana, and in North India. These Bicholiyas buy grain from the APMC market and sell it to many factories and big companies e.t.c. to make a profit.

Now, The government says that due to these middlemen (Artiyas and Bicholiyas), the farmers don’t get the fair and remunerative prices for their produce. The government is being repeatedly accused of shutting down the APMC market. The reason for saying that the government is promoting private markets (private mandis), if the entire sale and purchase are done from the private markets, then why would the government spend money on APMC markets to maintain it?

What is Minimum Support Price (MSP)

MSP is the minimum amount at which government agencies buy grain from farmers. The government fixes the minimum cost on 22 crops like wheat, rice, etc and government agencies buy grain from farmers at the same rate. The price is fixed so that farmers get protection at the cost of their crops. There should be no loss to the farmer due to fluctuations in market prices. In APMC markets, the farmer gets less price than the MSP, the MSP is given only to farmers in government procurement, and it has been done in every government till date, be it the UPA government or the NDA government. But the bitter truth is that on MSP, only 6% of the farmers in the entire country are able to sell their crop to the government, for the remaining 94% farmers it does not matter. The government purchases food grains and stores them in FCI godowns. Reports of grain rotting continuously came from FCI godowns, but the government collects it, to distribute it to the poor.

Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation Bill) Act, 2020

The main points of this facilitation bill 2020 are:

This allows the farmers to sell their produce to intra-state and inter-state beyond the APMC (Agricultural Produce Market Committee) markets and physical premises of another market.
According to this act, the Electronic trade of scheduled farmers' produce is allowed in the farmers’ area.
According to this act, Charging market fees, cess, or levy to trade outside the APMC markets are restricted for the state governments.
Farmers have the option to bypass the middlemen (Artiyas & Bicholiyas) and sell their produce directly to institutional buyers at the prices to be agreed between them.

Merits of this Act

On paper, this scheme is good as there is no one between the farmer and the buyer. So, all profit of the deal goes to the farmer.

Demerits of this Act

The groups of farmers are worried because this act exposes them to corporates who have more bargaining power and resources than the small or marginal farmers.
85% of farmers own less than 2 hectares of land-difficult for them to negotiate directly with large-scale buyers.

We consume grains with great fervor, but no one knows the hard work of farmers behind this grain, according to a report of NABARD (National Bank For Agriculture And Rural Development), it has been said that the income of the farmer has increased by ₹2,505 per month only in the last 4 years. While a teacher's income is increased at a rate of 7% every year. It was the farmers who strengthened our economy by 3.4 percent even during this COVID-19 pandemic, otherwise this year our GDP would cross -28% (which is recorded -23.9% this year). To say, there are many schemes for the farmers, but those schemes do not seem to have a positive impact on the lives of the farmers.

This bill act has some good things as well as a lot of flaws in it that need to be fixed. The government is trying to provide direct benefits to the farmers by removing the commission of the middleman (Artiyas and Bicholiyas) of the APMC market, it can be considered a good move, but if there is no work in APMC markets, it will be closed. After which the farmers will have to resort to private markets. The farmers fear that if the APMC markets are closed, then the arbitrariness of private markets will increase.

We can take the example of “Reliance Jio”. Initially, the company provided very good plans to increase the number of customers for either free or at a very low price for almost a year. During this period, many private telecom companies (Telenor, Aircel, Vodafone, Idea) and government company BSNL, either went bankrupt or reached the verge of bankruptcy. Today all the plans of Reliance Jio have become expensive and the customer has no other option left. Telecom can be an important part of our life, but the income of a farmer which he earns through his produce is his life. His livelihood depends on it. This is why many farmers take steps like suicide because they do not get as much income as they are in debt.

Some Suggestions:

The government should invest more than private companies in the agriculture sector.
MSP should be made a legal authority. Farmers should at least have the right to sell their crops at MSP.
APMC is not required to be removed but needs to be improved.

9/11 - A Black day & its revenge

It was a pleasant morning of September 11, 2001 in New York City, USA. On this day, the whole world was shaken as there was one of the biggest terrorist attack of all time, happens at the World Trade Center (WTC) in New York City. This attack is much bigger than anyone, has imagined, and creates a dark milestone in the history of Terrorism.

There were two reasons, why this incident changed everything around the world about terrorism:

It also determined the cruel face of terrorism for the first time. Or you may say that it had set a landmark of terrorism to another height, as America was still one of the most developed country of that time. They have everything in technology, military, e.t.c. but all went in vain.
A first ever terrorist attack which was telecast on Live TV.

At around 8:46 am, an airplane crashed into the World Trade Center’s north tower. In the blink of an eye, the tower turned into the huge ball of fire. Amid the chaos, people started running around to save their lives, when another ship crashed into the Southern Tower. It also started burning in smoke. Then that happened, which no one would have expected. The 110-Storey Skyscraper, the second and third tallest buildings in the world of that time, collapsed like Cards.

Shortly after this, another ship crashed into the Pentagon, Defense Department headquarters, which was in a highly protected area, and here, the same destruction began that took place at the World Trade Center. The fourth plane also came out for the attack and its target was Washington House, but it failed and fell into the fields of Pennsylvania. Approx. 2,977 people had lost their lives and more than 10,000 were injured in this terrorist attack. Around 18,000 people were working in the WTC at the time of the attack. But, when the attack happened on the North Tower, most of the people working in the South Tower had left the building as they are afraid of. Among the dead, many were from fire brigades, police, sweepers, and citizens of more than 90 different countries, who came to the USA in search of a better life.

These two towers were the pride of America, which had been in the eye of Al-Qaeda since 1996. The US had suffered a major loss of billions of dollars in this attack. Rare artifacts that were housed at the World Trade Center cost about $ 100 million. Thousands of computers, furniture, and many other things were destroyed, worth millions of dollars. Also, the thing that most affected America was the security system of America. At that time, it was believed that America is the safest place worldwide. But, this incident changed everything. Once called the safest place in the world, was now in doubt due to its security system. An FBI investigation revealed that Al Qaeda was behind the attack. Then the search for their leader Osama bin Laden began. It was the same Osama bin Laden, whom the US helped in every way to fight the Soviet Union's occupation of Afghanistan. The Taliban and Al-Qaeda are the same thing; both are originated by the Afghanistan war.

In 1978, the Soviet Union entered Afghanistan for helping the ruler of Afghanistan. In those days, The Communist government was ruling in Afghanistan and the Mujahideen were constantly trying to destabilize it. In the fight against the Soviet Union, the US planned to not fight directly, but support Pakistan to fight against the Soviet Union, by providing them military and financial support. Pakistan told every youth that Islam is in danger and you have to do jihad for the sake of Islam. This campaign, which was executed by America and Pakistan paid off and jihad was agreed by many illiterate youths. Many Islamic countries also gave large sums of money for fighting, from which modern weapons were purchased.

The Soviet Union gradually weakened during a 10 yrs. of conflict and in 1990 decided to withdraw from Afghanistan. The Taliban captured Afghanistan's power soon after the Soviet army withdraws his army. Taliban chief "Mullah Omar" and Al-Qaeda chief "Osama Bin Laden" were the heroes of the war and Afghanistan was made an Islamic State.

But, On Sept. 11, 2001, the snack whom America fed for so many years, he stung them. US President George Bush told Taliban chief "Mullah Omar" to hand over "Laden", just after the attack on the WTC, but he refused. The US then invaded Afghanistan and on December 17, 2001, ousted the Taliban from power.

When the investigation went ahead, it was found that the mastermind of the entire operation was Osama Bin Laden’s right hand, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Laden's closest man, Mohammed Atef, gathered all men and Khalid Sheikh trained all of them for this operation, sending 19 people to USA in various ways, in which 15 were from Saudi Arabia and the rest 4 of them were from the UAE, Egypt and Lebanon. When they reached the USA, 5 of them have taken admission in the flying school of San Diego City, and learned to drive airplane. On the day of the attack, the terrorists hijacked the security of the airport and hijacked four planes, in which three of them were going to Los Angeles and one was going to San Francisco.

US President George Bush destroyed the Taliban regime in Afghanistan to catch Osama, but Laden could not be captured there. FBI agents received information from a terrorist arrested during an operation that Laden was hiding in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Then an operation named Operation Neptune's Spear started, with Geronimo as the code word for Osama bin Laden, to capture him. The operation started at 11 o'clock. 23 soldiers of the US Navy SEAL team got on board two Blackhawk helicopters. The helicopters were designed in such a way that they make minimal noise and remain out of the grip of Pakistan's radar. After 35 minutes, the Blackhawk helicopters took off, four Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopters flew from the same runway towards the target.

Two of the four helicopters halted near Pakistan's border and the remaining two were headed towards the target. It was not pre-decided. These were part of the backup plan at the behest of President Obama. They wanted that if the operation failed, the troops could somehow be sent to Afghanistan from where the operation was being carried off. One of two Blackhawk helicopters crashed while landing at Laden's house, its wings damaged by a concrete wall of concrete but successfully executed by the pilot. The second helicopter landed successfully and trained commando of the US Navy SEAL immediately began the operation.

The commandos broke the door and entered, when Laden's wife woke up and started to scream. Upon hearing the voice, Laden also woke up and came out of his room. But, as soon as he saw the US Navy there, he stumbled, went back to his room, and tried to close the door again, but failed. A commando entered his room. Seeing himself surrounded, Laden stood quietly, knowing that there was no other way to escape now. The commando, without losing time, fired a double tap shot at Laden, one bullet hits on his chest and the other on the left eye. He lost his life in the first shot. After this successful operation, Laden's body was taken to Afghanistan and DNA tests confirmed that he was Laden. When the American commandos had successfully completed the operation in Abbottabad then after Pakistan received news that the US Navy SEAL had killed Osama bin Laden by entering their land and also took his body with them. Thus, 10 years after 9/11, America had avenged the deaths of its innocent civilians.

India - China: History and Current situation

Tension on the LAC

India and China are two powerful countries of the Asian Continent. It’s not the first time that India is in a position of war with China. There are several times before, both countries have faced this type of situation before. But, the matter of this time is more adverse and bigger than earlier because we have lost 20 brave soldiers, which is the biggest loss ever since the 1962 Indo-China war. Let's know what is the real reason for this dispute between India & China?

There are two main reasons for this time :

The road from Daulat Beg Oldi to 'Leh' - This road is about 260 km long, which was constructed by BRO (Border Roads Organisation) last year. You can see it on the map. This road comes close to the LAC in the Galvan Valley. China says the road is an illegal construction because it lies in Chinese territory. However, India has been consistently denying these allegations of China. Now, the question arises, who is right here?
The second reason for the dispute is on Pangong Tso Lake - this lake is about 134 km long. According to India, the lake up to 45 km is from India and the rest is from China. There are some rocks on the northern shore of the lake, also known as 'Fingers'. There are 8 fingers in total and this area is known as 'Finger Area'. India believes that LAC is passing finger 8 and India patrols finger 4. But on 5 May 2020, when Indian soldiers went on patrol there, the Chinese Army i.e. PLA stopped them on 'Finger 2'. This situation is as if you are out of town and someone else has taken over your land, saying that this land is mine. If the person is stronger than you, what will you do in this situation? You will go to the Panchayat or court for an honest verdict. Similarly, the country also wants to resolve this issue through talks at the table. But, there were many rounds of talks that were organized, not much improvement has been seen yet.

So, the question arises that why is there always a dispute between India and China, and why it has not been resolved so far? To understand the whole thing, we have to study about this controversy from the origin.

INDIA – CHINA: THE ORIGIN OF DISPUTE

1914 – It all started at this time. In 1914, India was not. India was then ruled by the British, which was called 'British India'. Indian people are fighting the freedom struggle. At the same time, China had a monarchy, but so weak that Tibet also freed itself. At this time, there was a meeting in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, in which there were three parties. British India, Tibet, and China. The point of this meeting was to set the boundary between Tibet and India. Sir Henry McMahon was the Foreign Secretary of British India at that time. He drew on paper an 890 km long line between British India and Tibet, later known as the "McMahon Line". This meeting also provided solutions to many places for which there was no understanding between British India and Tibet. However, this settlement in Shimla happened just before the First World War and many equations changed in this war. Amidst all this, this agreement which was held in Shimla lost somewhere.

1937 - A book named "A collection of Treaties Engagements and sanads relating to India and Neighboring countries" written by "C.A. Aitchison". In short, it is known as “Aitchison’s collection of treaties". In the 1937 edition of the book, the agreement on the Indo-Tibetan border is mentioned.

1947 – On 15th August 1947, India got independence, then India’s border remained the same as the British had set and the McMahon line had been considered as the border between Tibet & India.

1949 – In 1949, Mao’s government came to China, and then Mao captured Tibet. After capturing, China refused to accept the McMahon Line as the border and said that we were tricked in the year 1914. The border was set without telling us.

1959 – On 23^rd January 1959, China officially challenged the McMahon line. The first premier of The people’s republic of China "Zhou Enlai" wrote a letter to PM Jawaharlal Nehru, objecting to the McMahon line. This McMahon line is the real reason for the dispute between India and China, at that time.

1962 - On 20th October 1962, China attacked India by making this dispute an issue and barged into Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh, occupying an area of 38,000 and 83,437 square kilometers in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh respectively. The territory of Ladakh is occupied by China, known as Aksai Chin. India tried hard to take back the occupied land, but was unsuccessful. After the end of the war, the area that remained under the control of India and China created a new border known as the LAC (Line of Actual Control). India continued to consider this occupation as illegal until 1993.

1993 - On 21^st June 1991, Congress rule came under the leadership of Narasimha Rao, and then later in 1993, the Indian and Chinese governments decided to consider LAC as their border. India then abandoned its old claim (which was the McMahon Line) and agreed to accept the Line of Actual Control (LAC) as its boundary. This was the first time that the Indian and Chinese governments signed an official agreement on the LAC issue.

Agreements Between India & China on LAC :

Now, going through all the points of the agreements, you might be thinking that the Chinese military is violating the agreement. But the fact is, when there were several meetings between India and China in 1993 over the LAC, the dispute remained over some areas.

You can say "why"? There was an agreement for this. India was also ready to accept LAC as a border. So, why did this controversy persist?

On the LAC issue, India and China compared each other's maps, but China did not accept the maps prepared by India. After occupying a large land of Ladakh (Aksai Chin) and Arunachal Pradesh (about 83437 sq km) in 1962, it was evident from the Chinese side that they still claim more land than that. There is a total of 23 locations throughout the LAC, which are still considered disputed, and from these locations, there are frequent reports of Chinese incursions. Understand these places with the help of a map.

The Border between India and China is about 3488 km. Long. It is divided into 3 parts which are also known as “Sectors”.

Western Sector – Border with Ladakh
Middle Sector – Border with Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand
Eastern Sector – Border with Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh

In these 23 disputed places, 11 places are in the Western Sector, 4 of them are in the Middle Sector, and 8 in the Eastern Sector. In the western sector, the dispute is at 11 places, but this time China also described Galvan valley as disputed.

Recent Activities :

The biggest concern of India is the presence of the Chinese army near Pangong Tso. China is no longer willing to talk on Pangong Tso Lake. On this matter, the Chinese ambassador says that "the process of reducing tension on the LAC is completed, the PLA (People's Liberation Army) is in its territory in Pangong Tso." This is a sign that the Chinese army will not back down now.

China is building all alternative routes around Ladakh and wants to connect to its national highway 219 or G219, (it is a national highway from China's Kargilik to Lhasa in Tibet, about 2700 km long, since 1950. Was started. Completed in 1957) which means that the border i.e. LAC can be reached at the earliest. If China succeeds in doing so, then the movement of PLA in East Ladakh will be much easier, which is not good news from India's point of view.

The great Chanakya has said in his policy that if you want to defeat your enemy, you have to destroy every aid that, he has received. But what to do if rogue and the fraudulent country in front? "Target his economy".

This is what the Indian government is doing, our government has so far banned 224 Chinese apps in three stages, which includes many popular apps like PUBG, Tik-Tok, UC Browser, VPN for Tik-Tok, Helo, Likee, etc. This step has been taken by India because of the increasing tension on the LAC, but how much it will affect the Chinese army i.e. PLA (People’s Liberation Army), it is difficult to say. The barbarity of China can be gauged from the fact that there was an attempt to infiltrate by the unbridled army of China when the high officials of both countries were talking.

Despite claiming the lands of almost all the neighboring countries, China says that to date they have not taken even an inch of the land of others. China talks of peace, but persecutes its people, betraying them. Hong Kong is the best example of this. Our LAC with China is about 3,488 kilometers long, but such a long line has neither a pole, no wires, nor any line that sets a boundary. They never want to solve this issue so that they can continue to infiltrate and encroach into the land of India. On the night of 29 and 30 August, when the Chinese army wanted to re-infiltrate into the southern area of Pangong Tso, this time our army was fully prepared. What was to happen then? Were banished.

You may recall that after the removal of Article 370, the Hon'ble Home Minister of the country stated in the Lok Sabha that "PoK" and "Aksai Chin" are integral parts of India and we will withdraw it. I think China has been upset ever since. If we talk about the G-219, we will find that it is a very important road in China and China will not take any risk of losing it at any cost. If the war starts, China's mainland will be far away from here and China also knows how close this place is to our mainland? This is why they are scared inside.

But, nobody wants war. At present, COVID is the biggest problem in the whole world, including India and our economic situation is also not very good. Not only the soldiers fight at the border, but the whole country also fights with them, but no country can tolerate infiltration in their territory. Till now, the Indian Army has kept restraint, which is praised by all. But the armies of both countries are sitting opposite each other, even the smallest mistake of someone can lead to a bigger war. Well, Beijing wants to confuse us, but our biggest achievement will be when this border dispute is resolved at the earliest.

How much great country is Pakistan? There are many cases in which Pakistan has no emphasis and in these cases, it is much ahead of India. A couple of months ago, News came from Pakistan, that the licenses of many pilots of Pakistan International Airlines are fake and the Government of Pakistan has also officially agreed to it. In India, drivers drive buses and trucks on fake licenses, which is still very difficult today, as travelling without a license or a fake license can result in heavy fines. Yet if the person knows about the art of jugaad, the man goes for a two-wheeler license and could get a four-wheeler license, here. But if a person from Pakistan goes for the license of a bike, then he gets the license to operate an aeroplane.

Earlier, many employees of Pakistan Airlines have been arrested on charges of smuggling. Now recently a Chinese bank has got a license to work in India. I think this is a pre-planned trick. Now you will ask "how"?

This is because India has banned 59 other Chinese apps, including Tik-Tok and the movement of "Boycott Chinese Products" is still running in India. Then in the meantime, licensing a Chinese bank to work in India seems to be a tricky move so that the Industrialists like "Malia and Nirav Modi" may also be benefitted. New Education Policy 2020

After 3 – decades (34 years), India has a new education policy. It seeks to bring the education system of the country up to speed with the needs of the 21st century. Whether, we talk about technology, intervention, refreshed assessment system or about multiplier opportunity available for every student. This policy looks into all those issues. It is a very important and necessary change that our education system needs, although it is not a sudden change, it is a part of the manifesto of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. On October 31, 2015, the government formed a 5-member committee, headed by former Cabinet Secretary T.S.R Subramanian, to prepare a new education policy, the committee submitted its report on May 27, 2016. After this, on June 24, 2017, the committee of 9-members under the chairmanship of ISRO's former chief scientist Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan gave the responsibility of drafting the new education policy. The draft submitted to HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on 31st May 2019. Then HRD Ministry asked for suggestions from people on draft national education policy, approx. 2 lakhs of people had given their suggestions. After that on 29th July 2020, the new education policy has been introduced. So, this is a brief history of the “New Education Policy 2020”.

We know that education is the tool for empowerment, for information and success for millions of youngsters in the country and abroad. The problems are the mother of need. The earlier education system had many flaws, according to which this new education policy seems to be right, but the biggest and the most important question is “how easy it is to land on the practical ground?” to understand this, we have to first understand what are the reasons for flaws of the current education system?

Reason 1.

Our education sector is constantly struggling with a shortage of qualified teachers. The B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. college, who gave the training, has become strongholds of the college education mafia. Many of these colleges are such that doesn't actually exist, but provides the degrees with a lot. It can be easily understood what the teachers who get the training from here, will be able to teach the children? This new education policy has been committed to break this tradition, now the National Council of Teacher Education will set professional standards for teachers and will also create a new syllabus for the teacher training program and due to which the minimum qualification for a teacher training program will be of 4 years integrated course. The success on this would have been achieved 3 years ago, but now it is being tried to implement it through this new policy.

Reason 2.

It’s good to hear that this New Education Policy 2020 has focused on the early development of the child. Till date, Primary education was not given so much priority. We always talk about higher education, what difficulty that is faced by a higher-class student, but doesn’t focus on the child’s early education, which also results as improper education of the child. Many education’s policies state that for this, the education department and the Institute for the betterment of children will work together.

Reason 3.

Another reason for the poor educational system is that it doesn't provide the correct assessment to the student. It does not indicate how much the student is learning from the current assessment process? For this, a national institute will be created which will be monitoring it from time to time. Till date, this was monitored by the NCERT.

Reason 4.

This New Education Policy 2020 also aims to provide the early education in mother language/ regional language/ local language, which is a good step, although it will be difficult to implement it practically because Today, the number of teachers required in schools is not being appointed as much. Then imparting education in mother tongue will increase the need for teachers who know at least 2 languages. It is clear that apart from qualified teachers, they will also need sufficient funds, about which the new education policy does not clearly say anything.

Reason 5.

Due to the towing Cassie for admission to higher education, i.e. college, university, in the 12th examination, the candidates have started getting the cent per cent marks in the language paper. As per the new education policy, the admission test will be conducted, so the pressure on the marks made by the candidates in the 10th and 12th standard will be reduced, this examination will be held at the national level so that the candidates can enroll in colleges and universities according to their ability.

Reason 6.

The new education policy is giving adequate attention to post-curricular activities and vocational courses, this will develop the idea in the candidate to have a different thought process from the traditional one. In the coming years, it will develop an understanding that the possibility of getting a job by doing a vocational course is comparatively more than regular courses.

Obviously, New education policy is much more fascinating and helpful in abolishing problems, practically they are offering a half and incomplete solutions for it. The first problem is the lack of funds. Although the cabinet has decided to increase the education budget by 4.43% to 6% of the total GDP, the policy does not sustain on how the funding will be managed. It only assumes that the budget will be arranged in the coming years. So, the question still remains “HOW”? Keeping this pandemic in concern, the whole country is in crisis, meanwhile, we are well attuned about the ground reality for colleges and universities in the various places across the country. I think this new policy is nothing without reforming the infrastructure and having a qualified faculty member to enrich the knowledge of every student across the country. Through this blog, I also want, you pay your attention on the recent activity, that the Most Universities are focused on conducting the exams, but we know that this whole year is covered by the pandemic and due to which students are compelled to sit at their home. During this time, many students across the country didn’t study a single word, but not in every university, various universities have streamed their classes on online platforms, but not every college and university provides such facility to their students. So, if there will be an exam then most of the students will try to go through every topic by rote memorization. Apart from this NEP 2020 is against the rote process of learning.
