Birthdays are always fun, but celebrating your 60th in the mountains surrounded by family is perfect!
I am so happy I was able to join this beautiful family for a few minutes during their celebration and capture a few family memories.

and I can only hope to look this great and happy at 60!

You may be wondering where I have been.
Have I given up photography?
Did I move to Tanzania?
Did I break my leg?

Nope! Everything is fine. Great really. and I still have my camera attached to me most of the time, but in a slightly different way.

My other site, sunnyvegan.com has taken off in a wonderful way. I love writing recipes, making (and eating) the food and exposing people to a new idea of “health” food. My work has been featured by Shape.com, TakePart.com, thekitchn and Earth Balance. There are also a few big features in the works, so stay tuned for those BIG announcements too.

Since you know what I have been up to, you may have a few questions of your own such as ” I don’t like broccoli, can you still take my family photos?” or “I don’t like healthy food, maybe I should find a photographer who likes junk food like me.” Have no fear, what you or I eat really doesn’t have anything to do with your photo session, I think we will get along even if you despise spinach.

Super Fun Summer Mini-Session dates will be announced soon ( sneak peek next week) and will be $99! Locations will include North County San Diego as well as the Big Bear area.

I hope you are all doing well. In light of the recent events, sweet little faces like these serve as a reminder of what is truly important in life.

This beautiful family was out here on vacation and I am so glad I had the chance to meet them all. Little J’s sweet baby face with hot pink glasses just has to make you smile, and check out her doting big brother! When grandparents take the time to vacation with their entire family, it’s such a great time for everyone. I hope these photos will help them all remember what a great time they had together and how special family is =)

Happy Halloween! just a few days late, but since I still haven’t edited Teagan’s b-day photos from August, I think a few days late is freaking awesome! The girls had some much fun and continued their costume tradition of dressing in coordinating outfits. Teagan was a skeleton ( skelanimal) and Ella was a sassy spirit ghost.

I hope you had as much fun as we did! now it’s time to get ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas. yeah!

sleep pink

When I first heard about the sleep pink party, it sounded like a great idea. Grab a friend, have some fun and Sleep Pink will donate $100 to benefit breast cancer. I originally was going to have a friend over, then I decided to have my 2 best girlfriends, also my daughters, party with me.

So, we listened to Pink Moon by Nick Drake, drank (sort of) pink drinks, read Pinkalicious, and watched Pretty In Pink. (don’t worry, I edited the movie to be age appropriate) We also enjoyed a healthy snack mix of dry roasted soybeans, raisins, almonds, walnuts and craisins. Our drinks were supposed to look more pink, but the sparkling strawberry limeade ended up with more of a tea appearance thanks to the turbinado sugar I used to make it. It tasted great and was full of vitamin c.

While we clearly had a fun and yummy time, the sleep pink party provided me a great opportunity for me to discuss the importance of breast cancer issues with my girls.

Every 3 minutes, someone is diagnosed with breast cancer. It is so important to find a cure, and this is something we can all do to help. A fun and easy way to support breast cancer awareness and drive funds to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer series, a project of the Avon Foundation for Women that supports finding a cure for breast cancer and advancing access to care for all.

Please join me in hosting your own Sleep Link party, post a photo on the Sleep Pink website, and Estroven will donate $100 to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.
