I got home from work yesterday and noticed I have one little flower, growing in my back yard of ... dirt. Such a pretty little flower. All bright like sunshine. My one spot of color.

I got all excited.

My trigger finger is getting all twitchy, wanting to go take pictures of spring, but it's early here and there's not that much spring yet. But I have my one little flower. So I grabbed the camera and went to take it's picture.

Before I knew it, I'd been snapping away and had... many pictures.

Isn't it pretty? My one little spot of color.

A day in the life of Tweedleville. AKA... WTF is wrong with you people?!!

Teh stoopid. It pains me.

Let me back up. *sigh*

As some of you know, I work in a place I lovingly call... Tweedleville. I work for...

the Tweedle Twins. Dee and Dum.

That is me.

We build solid surface countertops here in Tweedleville. Last year we did a job up in Alaska. It seems that Dee screwed it up. We managed to ship a bunch of countertops up to Barrow Alaska, 1" too short.

As usual, Dee was so close.

Tomorrow, we send a guy up to Barrow to fix said countertop screw up. We, um... don't live in Alaska. So, we are flying our guy up to Barrow.

Which is like... the top of the world. A very hospitable place this Barrow is. A thriving metropolis of snow and ice...

and polar bears...

Let us not forget the polar bears.

So... we are sending this guy from Oregon, to Barrow Alaska. Doesn't seem like a huge problem, generally speaking; it should just be a matter of guy flies up, guy fixes, guy comes home. An inconvienience of suck, but... not disastrous. Unless of course... you are a Tweedle.

I have just learned that we are flying a guy up there in the morning. We decided to do this without sending his tools first.

Not a couple/few tools. 150-250 LBS of tools. We are going to send those on the plane like... luggage. Because everyone knows luggage never gets lost.

We aren't sure if you can fly 150-250 LBS of tools on the puddle jumper to Barrow, Tweedles says it's fine. All is well. Of course each fishing trip to Alaska he personally takes they loose his gear and the fish takes a week to get home because you can't fly with it being in such a big box, but... never mind that. None of that matters.

So, we are going to fly said dude, with tool crate on plane.

Check.

We can't fly with glue or chemical supplies of any kind. Of course, we don't want to make sure they have any of it up there from the original shipment, because... well... quite frankly, I don't know why.

Probably because that would make sense.

We also don't have the proper contact info to know exactly where our guy is going. Who, if anyone, is picking him up, where the camp is, or... well... anything else.

So, to recap, Tweedles is sending a guy, to the top of the world, hoping he might have tools when he lands, he might have supplies when he gets there, and he may be able to hop a glacier and ride into a camp and after knocking on enough igloo doors while dodging polar bears to find his way and he will reach his destination in a timely manner so no more mistakes are made.

Go Tweedles. You plan is flawless.

Tweedle dumbassery gives me migraines.

And an eye twitch.

My job in all this... fix it when it goes awry.

Shit, now both eyes are twitching.

*sigh*

Go Tweedles.

I guess the moral of this Tweedleville story is...

I vera glad I'm not that guy.

And I'm not going to get eaten by a polar bear while surfing on glacier.

After being reminded today of how deeply I detest the "Have Happy Period" slogan, which during a bad hormonal upheaval... can actually drive me into fits of wanting to strangle the dumbass dude that came up with that happy ad campaign... *clears throat* um... 'k moving on...

After being reminded today... I remembered seeing the perfect letter awhile back, addressing said dude. Thought I'd share. Again.

Zoo Kids Update: Tub Kitty haz a name

Well, our last episode of the Zoo kids found me with new kitty, aka tub kitty. After a long weekend of being sick and playing referee between my Zoo kids, I mean... spending time with my new kitty, tub kitty finally has a name.

We tried on several. He was meant to be Thor when this plan was hatched. Thor and Loki. Thor, however, didn't fit the little doofus. We thought long and hard about Sabin. That wasn't it either. d'Artagnan was on the table for a bit, but... no. He's just too cutie patutie and doofus like for any those.

We went thru many more as well, but... nothing fit. It was actually the suggestion of Aija that sparked it. Kisa, which almost worked, or... Lapushka.

Lapushka is soooooooo the one.

Twas perfect.

Little dude sometimes reminds me of a Siberian husky pup when I look at him. Those black marks around his eyes, the way he will cock his head sometimes, sniff around like a dog does (no clue what's up with that)...a bit of Russian for a name... perfect. A little internet searching led me to a literal meaning of "little paw" which was... perfect. And the general "sweetheart" meaning of it also...perfect.

The fact that he came to it the first time I called him by it... cinched it.

So, tub kitty is now...

I'm pretty sure he just can't be any cuter. Seriously. From waking up to find a little snuggle bunny has crawled in the bed to nap with me, head on my arm and hugging me...

Or just sitting there being adorable...

Or... killin'me with teh cute while he sleeps all stretched out and purring, yes, he purrs in his sleep...

Loki on the other hand...

Totally not happy. He just keeps looking at me like that, in a "what the hell were you thinking bringing that little thing in here to defile our home" manner he now has. And then...

Totally shuns me.

My sweet Loki has never behaved this way before. He hasn't purred, like he always does, in days. No snuggling w/me, no letting me pet him, no rolling over/flopping over on his back to get my attention and trip me, no playing, no nothing. Full blown pissy is what he is now. Kinda makes me sad. He was like a giant kitten in a tomcat body before. Not anymore.

He hates his new friend. 'pushka doesn't understand why and just lopes after him trying to get him to play.

Lapushka: Hi! Hi! Hi new friend! :D :D
Loki: *growl*
Lapushka: *stops, looks at Loki*...
Loki: *stalks off*
Lapushka: *cries a funny, chirppy, fluttery cry*...*lopes after him and tries again*
Loki: *growls*...*looks at me* Do something please!

So they go, round and round.

Sooooo not how I had hoped this would go.

As the days go on, Lapushka tries harder to make Loki play with him, Loki almost tolerates him a bit more... as long as he doesns't get too close. He at least allows him in the same room now, as long as he stays on the other side of it. I guess that means they are making progress, being in the same room is good. ish.

Poor Loki dude. Totally miserable and stressed out.

Poor Lapushka just wants to be his friend and play play play.

Little cutie patutie went to the vet this weekend too. Poor little fella. Him haz a watery eye so, fever and all, I figured I'd take him in for his comp visit to make sure he didn't have something that would infect Mr. Loki. That would be bad. Turns out he has an eye AND an ear infection. Him haz ear drops now and boy oh boy are those not fun to administer. I'm now playing tackle the kitten (he is soooo not the 2 yr old they said) and be mean to him with meds. I think Loki just snickers each time he sees that.

I didn't know my Loki was such a meanie. He really kind of is.

aka... new kitty. Let me back up.

My zoo has been minus two zoo kids for the last week. My sweet Holly girl passed last Wednesday morning, and my poor leviathan BomChickaWowWow fishie Gillie met the toilet bowl a couple days ago.

It's been a rough week to be a pet at the Place this week.

Surprisingly, tux kitty Loki took Holly's passing a lot tougher than I thought he would. It's not like they were pals or anything. Tormentor of the poor dog yes, pals, no. Seems that was his way of showing love to her. He has been searching for her constantly. He used to lay on the bed, she on the floor, and he would lean over and bat at her, then hide from view. Fun little game that. For a week, he has been crawling the edge of the bed, looking over the side for her, and howling. When he can't find her, he jumps off, runs into the laundry room where she used to lay by the door behind a box. He would run as fast as he could in there, check her spot, and howl again.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

Eventually he would want outside, to pace the porch, twice, and howl.

As if I wasn't sad enough. Poor Loki missed her real bad too.

We had a sad. Big time.

Daughter and I had been thinking little Loki dood needed a new friend, but I was just waiting for him to get over being soooooo completely clingy and needy so he wouldn't be jealous. Last night at 11:00pm, daughter sent me a text about a kitty she saw at the pet store, there from the shelter. Today at lunch, I went to check it out.

O.M.G. What a little cuttie!!!!!!!!!!

We had the lady unlock his cage and over to me he came, jumped up on me and it was love.

My Place has a new Zoo Kid. Meet... new kitty.

That's new kitty when he adopted me at the store shelter.

That's new kitty at the office, commandeering mah chair.

When we got him home, he decided he liked the bathtub, leftover water and all. I thought he was just thirsty, until he began rolling in it. Seems he likes water. (which doesn't help in keeping him away from Bodhi fishie w/the squirt bottle. He just kinda looks at me like... uuuuuh, whut)

This is new kitty at home.

Him iz suuuuuch a little sweet love kitty! And he just purrs and purrs and purrs. And snorts when he purrs too.

that's mah new Zoo kid... new kitty, aka Tub Kitty.

Him still needs a name.

Loki hates him.

My Review: Angels of the Deep by Kirby Crow

My thoughts:

I really want to be able to write a coherent review for this one, however I am struggling greatly with that as I can’t seem to get past my “WOW” response. It’s been a long while since a book has tripped all my triggers like this one did.

I’ve always had a strong draw to stories of angels and demons, however finding ones that are well written isn’t easy to do. Throw Nephilim into the mix and it rarely goes well. Frankly, Kirby Crow has given me one of the best dark fantasies I think I’ve ever read.

Angels of the Deep is by no means an easy read. It’s filled with dark, even gruesome things. It blurs the line of what is good and what is evil, it’s filled with layers behind every character, every situation. It has a complexity that makes you work for the beauty behind the darkness of it all.

The writing was powerful. The imagery, incredible. The characters were amazing. The story so rich in fantasy, theology, faith, love, hate, good, evil, all amazingly woven together; so full of twists and turns, so dark and engrossing I found it almost impossible to put down. At every turn I simply HAD to see what was going to happen next. To make any further review, I would have to re-read it to completely absorb all that this book holds, if I ever could.

Bottom line: I will most definitely be re-reading this one, I will most definitely be reading all the Kirby Crow books I can get my hands on. This book makes me want to redo my entire review/rating system, because I don't have enough stars. If 5 stars stands for “it’s amazing”… I give Angels of the Deep 6 for… beyond amazing.

Highly, HIGHLY recommended.

A TSO Weekend Away

After too many suck days of late, I'm very much looking forward to some days away. Daughter and I are heading out on our yearly trip to our show and I'm pretty darn excited. A couple of days away, maybe some shopping in the big city and some oh so yummy food at our favorite spots. CanNOT wait.

Last year I took my first ever concert photos at the show, we go every year, I think this will be our 8th or maybe 9th time, I posted these over at the Place, but I thought I'd share the pics over on mah Zoo blog too.

I don't like the post I just made, I don't want my Holly out here.

So I removed it, and now I call do over, I tend to do that sometimes.

I don't really kow what to post, my brain isn't working right today. I do know I don't want to be where I am right now, so I'll post where I'd rather be...

I've been thinking on several things, my head is still spinning, my emotions are still raw, I'm still riding an emotional roller coaster I don't know how to get off of.

'i see myself': embrace the rainbow

In the past few days, we have been privileged to witness an increasing awareness and understanding within the m/m romance community about the complex issues of gender/s and sexuality/ies.

This has been a significant and positive step forward in healing a rift caused primarily by ignorance and bringing hope where there was once anger, turmoil and devastation.

This is by no means an end, however.

For if there is one thing we have all learnt is that a rainbow cannot easily be grasped or defined.

Rainbows are constantly changing. Rainbows are not fixed. Even when an artist tries to portray them in a photograph or piece of work it is only one moment in time they are capturing, not the full journey of a rainbow.

It is this fluidity we need to embrace and encourage others to do so as well.

To this end, we are sending out a challenge.

A challenge to help us increase awareness, acceptance and support for the trans*, intersex, intergender and questioning people in the m/m romance community and broader community by adding this to your site:

Kindle Vixen for 'embrace the rainbow'.

We believe this will stand hard as a sign post symbolising hope as well as a safe space for GLBTQQ people to freely be themselves. Whoever 'they' might be at that particular moment and whoever 'they' might be in different moments in the future.

We do this on the day which marks the 13th International Transgender Day of Remembrance; a day for remembering those trans* who have been the victims of hate crimes.

We also do this in association with the Safe Reading Zone campaign; a promise to those GLBTQQ people among us that we will support them.

So, will you accept our challenge?

Perhaps this excerpt from an interview in September 2011 between genderfluid Andrej Pejic and ABC’s Nightline Juju Chang will help you make a descision:

Chang: When you see yourself in the mirror, do you think of yourself more as a man or as a woman?
Pejic: I like to keep my options open.
Chang: What does that mean?
Pejic: I see myself.

‘I see myself.’

That, friends, says it all.

I need something else to think about. Something else to focus on. I look around and with where my mind has been, with how my heart feels, I need to remember... I'm surrounded by beautiful things.

I don't write books, I paint with light. A while back lost every photo I ever made, a gnar storm hit and blew up my hard drives. Recently, I found them again. Looking at them again, going thru them, makes me smile. Most I need to reprocess, but a few of the old print ready ones actually survived. Yay for that. :)

Thought I'd post some on my blog, redirect my own thoughts a bit.
