The owner of this beautiful winery told us, the vineyard looks differently each month. Right now vines just started growing, they will be taller in 2 weeks.

They will be fully grown and have grapes in August, you will see grapes turning red in September.

This vintage pickup truck is available for rental as prop. We can arrange a horse to join your photo shoot as well!

Last week Linda Steeles from CTV and her team had a shooting at Amara with Miwako and one of our bride.

Amara Wedding Albums are all handcrafted and created for you using only the finest materials available.  To keep your album long lasting and looking as beautiful in years to come as it does on the first day, you can simply follow these recommendations:

1. When viewing your album, turn the pages gently from the edges using just your fingertips.
2. When storing your album, flush mount albums should be kept lying flat and closed when not being viewed to prevent pages from bending. Although the pages are UV protected, it is always recommended to keep it out of direct sunlight and avoid drastic temperature & humidity changes.
3. To clean your album, you can carefully use a dry, lint-free cloth and wipe away dust and fingerprints on the pages and cover.

Our flush mount albums are top notch long lasting quality in presentation, classic, yet modern. A flush mount album is made up of photo layouts printed on photographic paper, mounted on a thick substrate.  Since the page spreads go across the whole width of the album, you will see no gap at the centre. These flush mounts are limited by the manufacturer to 20 spreads for small albums (8×10) and 15 spreads for larger albums (11×14 and up), which makes for a rather heavy album.

As the wedding season winds down, we’d like to feature weddings that the Amara Wedding team had captured which had left a lasting impression for all of us. We hope to help inspire upcoming brides and grooms by sharing these special weddings and the planning behind them.

Goofy with a side of seriousness….

Some say that the person you date will have an influence on you. This is absolutely true for Ben and Juliana. Although they had both gone to the same high school, it wasn’t until after university that they had finally taken noticed of each other. When Ben’s creativity and sense of humour had charmed Juliana, who might be know for her seriousness, a pair of happy, goofy couple is born.

Utilizing his creativity, Ben had created one of the most unique proposal we’ve ever heard. For months, he worked on a shoebox diorama of the proposal location, complete with the beach, water, and of course the most important elements: the engagement ring, Juliana and himself. After taking Juliana to Jericho Beach, he handed her the box and waited for her reaction. Lots of laughs and explanations later, apparently the engagement ring placed in the ocean signifies how deep his love is for her, Juliana gave him the green light. How can a girl resist such a charming and humorous guy?

Wedding planning couldn’t have been easier for this pair. With both of them having a strong believe in sustainability, their over arching theme for the wedding is to minimize waste and remain environmentally friendly. How did they achieve this? To start, they had chosen to use paper for their wedding favour boxes instead of plastic, as paper can be easily recycled. To limit carbon foot prints and to support local businesses, they had chosen a local chocolatier to create green tea and strawberry chocolate hearts as their wedding favours. They had also minimized the use of venue decorations and reused the little buckets of hydrangea from the ceremony for their table centre piece at the banquet. Finally, they had chosen to replace shark fin soup on their Chinese banquet menu with a conch and chicken soup. When asked if they had any trouble convincing their family about not having shark fin soup, Juliana had said that they had stop eating shark fin for a number of years so their family were not surprised by their decision.

It would be a waste if Ben didn’t utilize his creativity for his own wedding. After seeing a photo booth in action at a friend’s wedding, he had decided to create his own. In months of brainstorming and researching, they had designed and successfully assembled a photo booth with some plastic piping, curtains and random table parts from IKEA. The masterpiece was carefully disassembled from Ben’s home and reassembled together at their banquet by the wedding party, and was a big hit with the guests. To make it even more worth their effort, Ben and Juliana also donated a dollar for each photo taken to the One School One Day organization to help raise funds for a school in Ethiopia. Despite not being able to attend the One School One Day organizations fundraising event, which happened to be the same day as their wedding day, they were still able to contribute and the guests were more than happy to help support this cause.

Another DIY project they had done was their guestbook. In the Spring time when cherry blossoms were just beginning to bloom, Juliana and Ben had decided to take pre-wedding photos at Jericho Beach and UBC. Along the way they found a beautiful area full of Sakura trees. The photos were so amazing that it would be a waste not to share them with their wedding guests. Utilizing their artistic skills once again, they printed the pre-wedding photos and excised some scrape-booking talent to create a unique guestbook.

Although they were told ahead of time that couples usually run into arguments during wedding planning, this does not hold true for Juliana and Ben. Their advice for keeping wedding planning a fun and enjoyable experience for both the bride and the groom is good communication. While it might seem that the bride is usually the one spearheading the wedding planning, keep in mind that this is also a very special event for the groom. Thus, instead of being a “Yes” man, Ben said voicing his opinion and making sure his thoughts and ideas are heard help made the planning and the wedding more meaningful. He also reminded us that as individuals, there will always be times when we have different opinions. Through communicating with each other, you will learn more about your partner and find compromises for the situation so that both parties will be happy.

Juliana and Ben’s wedding had left a lasting impression on all of us. It was not a luxurious and grand wedding but it was a creative, fun and unforgettable day for the happy couple and all their guests. This time, our makeup artist Miyuki Mori wants to be creative and turns a cool & stylish girl Erika into a princess.
Before starting the demo our model Erika told us she considered herself not feminine at all and had never thought of looking like a princess! She had no idea how she would look and never thought she would feel comfortable with this sweet princess style until everything was done.

Miyuki calls the first style FRESH PRINCESS

Be an elegant and classic bride walking down the aisle.

Makeup Details

Eyes: baby pink eye shadow, black eye liner
Cheeks: a bit of darker pink on pink cheek color to make her look naturally blushing
Lips: rose pink

Pink is used for her makeup to create a romantic image. At the same time the tone stays neutral otherwise she looks too sweet.

Instead of working with commonly used loose and curly hair, the updo on higher part of her head with big firm curls gives a young & fresh impression. And makes her look not overtaken by the wide tiara.

Miyuki didn’t forget to cover what Erika felt insecure about. A round face. The side swept long bangs are cutting her face and make it look sharp and small. And also it gives a bit of formal and classic feel.

For a casual luncheon or cocktail party right after a ceremony without changing dresses, this can be a great idea.

A GROWN UP PRINCESS

No makeup change. Muyuki just let the hair down and added a small hat and this makes a dramatic change! The little white hat becomes an eye-catching focus and guests will definitely pay all of their attention to your beautiful look. Without a hat, it looks too casual.

Miyuki then changed the third style into a side-up.

This style is recommended for photo shoot after ceremony and also wedding reception afterwards. Instead of a little hat, flowers can be used. Simply put the matching flower hairpiece at the same side of the hair.
