Layla Grace Marsh

November 26, 2007 – March 3, 2010

My heart is breaking today as the news of Layla Grace’s passing has made it’s way through the interwebz. #RIPLaylaGrace is a trending topic on Twitter, proof positive of the many people that she has touched and inspired in her short 2 years of life. 2 YEARS. 27 MONTHS. Too short.

When a child dies it’s hard to come up with the right things to say. When it’s the child of a friend it becomes even harder. There are no words. I’m still trying to comprehend it all, I can’t even begin to imagine what the family is going through.

What I do know is that I am praying for strength and understanding and guidance for my friend Shanna, her husband Ryan and their daughters Jenna & Claire. No parent should ever have to stand by helpless as their child dies. It’s not fair. It’s just NOT FAIR!!!

Rest in Peace sweet angel girl.
You are loved by many and will be missed by the WORLD!

Now, more than ever, Layla Grace and her family NEED our continued thoughts and prayers. Old and NEW tumors are taking over her sweet 2 year old body and, unless there’s a miracle, her time here on Earth will be coming to an end a lot sooner than expected.

I’m hoping for a miracle.
One that will heal sweet Layla of her pain and her discomfort.
One that will rid her small body of all the tumors and convert her back to the happy & healthy little girl that she was a short 10 months ago.

Today I will not ask why or how.
Today I will put my faith back into God’s hands.
I will ask Him to keep Layla comfortable and relatively pain free.
I will ask Him to watch over the entire Marsh Family.
I will ask Him to bring peace to Shanna and Ryan, Layla’s parents.
I will ask Him to give Layla’s oldest sister, Jenna, strength and understanding. She’ll turn 9 tomorrow.
I will ask Him to continue to watch over Claire, Layla’s middle sister, she’s only 3.

If you’re the praying type I ask that you, too, please say a prayer today for Layla. If you’re not the praying type I just ask that you please keep Layla and her family in your thoughts and close to your heart.

My Olympic Moment…

I love the Olympics!
Summer or Winter they’re both OK by me, as long as I get to watch and cheer Team USA on to victory! Some of my favorite Olympic events are Swimming, Hockey, Ice Skating, Bobsled and Skiing. Every 2 years you’ll find me on my couch engrossed in all the hype watching the sappy stories and pulling for any of the US men and women to bring home the gold.

I could never compete in the Olympics. Not because I lack the passion, I’m passionate about a lot of things. I just don’t have the talent that it takes to partake in these time honored events and traditions. Just watching all of the amazing athletes makes me want to keel over and die. I’m having sympathy leg cramps and I find myself out of breath every now and again. Is that normal, or is it just me?

You know what I would excel at? Sleeping!! Too bad that’s not an Olympic event, because I would surely take the gold. I love my sleep, unfortunately I don’t get enough of it during the week. The weekends are a different story. I could totally sleep All.Day.Long if it wasn’t so frowned upon, you know, since I have things to do like cleaning toilets and vacuuming and laundry.

Another thing I’m pretty good at is useless trivia. I know this because while I was on my cruise in September I won a gold medal in a Cruise Ship Trivia contest. How many people can say they are the proud owners of a Carnival Cruise gold medal? Here’s the photographic evidence of my greatness:

If I had any pull in the Olympic Committee I would definitely try to talk them in to adding sleeping and useless trivia to the line up of Olympic Events, because seriously it should be all about me and my non-athleticness.

Waiting for Lion…

My friend, Renee, is currently awaiting some really BIG news.
She’s waiting to hear back from the adoption agency.
Waiting to hear that all the paper work is correct and in order.
Waiting so that she can make plans to head to Ethiopia to pick up her SON.
Her LION!

Renee and many of her friends are scattered around the country, so Issa came up with the brilliant idea of throwing her a virtual baby shower. Something that we could all do to show Renee just how much she is loved and how excited we are for Lion to come home. How excited we are for Renee and her husband to gain a son and for BIG sister Bunny to have a brother.

So, welcome to your baby shower Renee…

I wish we all lived closer so that we could throw you a “real” shower. You are an amazing mother and I am so proud to call you a friend. Lion will be one lucky little boy and I can not wait to see him in your arms where he belongs!!!

I finally did it.
I did what everyone else is doing. (I’m a follower like that.)
I went and got a bloggy make-over!
It was LONG over due.

I wish I could take the credit for the loveliness, but I can’t.
All credit for the design goes to Mommy Geekology and her awesome geeky skillz!
If you’re ever in need of a blog make-over or just need some advice be sure to give her a shout, she’d love to help. And she totally won’t yell at you when you’re indecisive and can’t make up your mind about colors, fonts or themes. (Not that I have any experience in that department!) Thanks Cat for all of your help and for making me look and feel pretty again!

I love me some Seattle Grace hospital drama, and who doesn’t want to stare at McDreamy for an hour?
The Amazing Race
It’s me and my cousins dream to be on the race one day! We’d be damn good at it.
Survivor
I could never be on the show, but watching others get dirty and eat yucky bugs is fun!
Law and Order
There are about 100 different versions, and I love them ALL.
The Biggest Loser
Who doesn’t dream of Jillian yelling at them one day? I need to be on this show, anyone want to make a video for me?
Cougar Town
Courtney Cox does a great job and the show keeps me laughing weekly. LOVE it!
Private Practice
Taye Diggs, do you need any other reason to watch?
Sports
I love watching football and baseball most, and if it’s the Astros, the Texans or the Longhorns it’s even better!!!
