Help Somebody

It was a cold winter's day that Sunday. The parking lot to the church was filling up quickly. I noticed as I got out of my car that fellow church members were whispering among themselves as they walked to the church.

As I got closer I saw a man leaned up against the wall outside the church. He was almost laying down as if he was asleep. He had on a long trench coat that was almost in shreds and a hat topped his head, pulled down so you couldn't see his face.

He wore shoes that looked 30 years old, too small for his feet, with holes all over them, his toes stuck out. I assumed this man was homeless, and asleep, so I walked on by through the doors of the Church.

We all enjoy fellowship for a few minutes, and then someone brought up the man who was laying outside. People snickered and gossiped, but no one bothered to ask him to come in, including me. A few moments later church began. We all waited for the Preacher to take his place, and to give us The Word, when the doors to the church opened. In came the homeless man, walking down the aisle with his head down.

People gasped and whispered and made faces. He made his way down the aisle and up onto the pulpit. When he took off his hat and coat my heart sank. There stood our preacher... he was the "homeless man."

No one said a word... the room was silent and still.

Then the preacher took his Bible and laid it on the stand.

"Folks, I don't think I have to tell you what I'm preaching about today." Then he started singing the words to this song...

"If I can help somebody as I pass along,

If I can cheer somebody with a word or song,

If I can show somebody that he's traveling wrong,

Then my living shall not be in vain."

Youths Across Vacation

Unique ideas, different thoughts in a friendly group, excited youths as vacation approached and school year passed on; where different stories and prank periods that happens in every minute and time – a bad time for those foolish things but a good timing to spend a lot of time for our Lord Jesus Christ.

In every corners of the year, there would be months for vacation – April and May. A lot of youths are enthusiast for it is time to forget their homework and spend time doing play works. A lot of them standby in their favorite places and their favorite playgrounds and do nothing all day long. I could remember the song Istambay by Enchi a BisRock song that tells a guy who is bystander person and plays music all day long.

80% percent of the youths took and waste their time during vacation. Some of the youth standby on internet café and play internet games in the entire day. As one enters in these different internet cafés, they would hear the loudest and noisiest voices from those “ISTAMBAY” or the bystanders. Even though they do not play but still they are very noisy. One of the games those youths addicted in playing of is the game named DotA or Defence of the Ancients that is very popular in the entire Philippines.

Other youths especially girls, spend their time chitchatting with their friends. Some of them went to the beach and play volleyball, Frisbee, or just having picnic. They spent a lot of time in these different activities. They talk about different topics. They talk about their friend and back-stab them which is a bad attitude.

Some of the youths especially honor students, study hard for the next school year. They read books and review their past lesson. All the day they don’t do anything but study hard. Some of their friends call their weird because even though school days pass by they study like there would be an exam on the next day.

However, for those young Christians who loved and praised Jesus worked hard to help the congregation. Young Christians spent their time for Jesus and not for those different things that was usually done by the bystanders. Maybe they don’t standby at those places nevertheless they standby in the Church with their co-young people. They went to church every vacant time of their lives thanking for the blessings and wisdom that God gave to them. They thank for the talents and unique things that they had.

During worship days they are all present. In prayer meeting during Wednesdays, they are also there asking favors to God and also acknowledge him not only the good things but also the bad things that they received in their lives. In Saturdays, they were present to organize the incoming Sunday worship for the next day. They lead the worship by using their talents in singing, playing guitar, playing drums, and playing piano. They prepare the church for the Sunday Worship in the next day. They arrange the chairs and the tables. They clean up the house of worship.

Every day there are lots of things that youth nowadays wanted to do – things that gave them joy and thrill. As youth, I admit that I do things that make me happy. I play tennis every day. Tennis court was my favorite arena. Internet cafe was also my favorite hangout. Facebook is my favorite social networking site to connect with my friends. However, house of worship or church is my favorite site to connect with my fellow Christians. And most of all, I “LIKE” God and I “SHARE” his good news.

Above all, there are lots of things that youths nowadays make their time busy. Vacation is a good time for playing, shopping and others but going to church and serving God is the best among those others. For those bystanders, why don’t standby inside the church and learn to pray and not always play. For those busy persons, one was busy doing nothing but was tired in serving God. They read nonsense books but they couldn’t just tell a bible verse. We as youths should start now especially these days of vacation – days that are free in serving only his gratefulness and holiness. If you in yourself had the gift, serve him and all will be given to you. Live, Praise, and Serve only in God’s Grace.

A Young Teen's Unforgettable Experience

Great smiles from their faces, clapping their hands, dancing, shouting only His name – JESUS, in a big ground of love as I touch with them – my brothers and sisters in heaven; Then I finally realized that I’m one of them – a young teen; One of those who worship only one God and who adore one Father.

Once, I thought that sending me by my father in a camp with youths will provide me nothing but a waste of time. All I wanted is to have fun, always play, and be with my friends always. I admit to myself that I’m a very naughty and stubborn son. My father used to say this to me, “Seek first the kingdom of God”. So, I obeyed him. I went to a youth camp for my own good.

The camp was named ISBYF or Island Samal Baptist Youth Fellowship. It was held in Botanical Baptist Church, Kaputian, Island Garden City of Samal. The place was quite awesome, peaceful, silent, full of trees – trees that seems talking to me, and most of all there was an old and very long hanging bridge. I found myself there peace and away from any harm.

On the first day of camp, there are lots of youths. We used to shake our hands and welcome each other. The faculties or the officers of this camp are very noble and responsible. There are also supportive Pastors who assist us. One of them is Pastor Jessie (my father), Pastor Requijo, and others. I told myself that, “I’m very wrong from the first place.”

I found a lot of treasures in this camp; not gold or silver but a new family and friends. It couldn’t be compared from those playtimes I spent in playing computers and nonsense games.

The officers in this fellowship are very responsible. One of them was Ate Dawn, Ate Liza, and Kuya Kelvin. I found a lot of friends also. They are Macario (the joker one), Arjane, Dzaia, Jezreel, and many more.

As we woke up in the morning, we go to the camp site or the church for early devotions to be led by the host Pastor. Then after it, there are precise people who wake up early just to prepare our breakfast. They cook very well. One of their specialties is “Bulad”, eggs, vegetables, and also “Adobo”. After we eat our breakfast, we used to go for our next activity. Some of this activity is PICTURE OUT. Someone will tell us a topic and we will picture it out but it tells more on the bible. There lot of activities that we used to play such as “How to improve the decorations in the church”, Amazing Race, and others. We were grouped in four groups and in each group, there are assigned leaders. I’m very lucky to be chosen as a leader for our team.

When the sun sets and the moon arises, all of us will go to the campsite for an evening worship. The host pastor will give us message about God; about how great is our Father is. After that we will sing worship songs. I feel the aroma of God as we all sing:

“All for love the Father gave ………… Everything I need is YOU, my beginning, my forever …..”

The camp lasted for four days. In the third day, the president of the youths awarded the special awards such as camper of the year, the best team, and others. And in the third night, the faculties and pastors will choose the “Mr. and Ms. ISBYF” and I’m very lucky to be the first Mr. ISBYF since.

After that night, we gather ourselves in the campsite and enjoyed our stay for it is the last day for being a youth camper. We felt very sad for we will see each other next summer but we also felt happy and blessed for the wisdom that we received and unforgettable moments we experienced. All of us packed our things and prepared to go home. Some of us cried. We hugged each other and say “See you next summer camp.”

My experience was very unforgettable. The experience was quite cool and awesome – very cool than those things I used to enjoy with. I hope that this coming ISBYF Camp on May 22-26, 2012 in the same place will give us another joy, another experience, have a lot of friends and most of all, the learning from the bible that will help us youths encounter life and to know all about Jesus.

Above all, it is not bad doing worldly things but it is worst doing nothing for our Lord Jesus Christ who died to save us who are very crowded in sins. Maybe, some youths can’t understand how important our spiritual growth is. By attending and joining Youth Fellowships or Youth Camps will give us importance touch with our Lord Jesus. The fun, the experience, and the treasures are right ahead of us. All we have to do is to feel and look for it. As the scripture says,

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Mat 6:33

Tema sa Buwan sa Abril: “Ang Sakripisyo ni Kristo sa Kalbaryo, Naghingpit Kanato.”

Tema: “Ang Kamatuoran diha sa Mensahe sa Sakripisyo sa Atong Ginoong Hesukristo .”

Teksto: Rom. 10: 8-17

Introduksyon:

Sa niaging Semana sa Pagsasulog sa Kamatayon sa atong Ginoo, ato nang nabatasan ang pagsaulog niini pinaagi sa pagpaminaw sa mga ulahing Pito ka mga Pulong nga gilitok sa atong Ginoo didto sa krus sa kalbaryo. Ug tuod man sama sa nanglabay nga mga tuig nabatasan usab nga adunay Pito ka mangwawali nga naka-assign sa matag bersekulo. Ang una hangtud sa ikatulo ka mga magwawali medyo sa akoa lamang na obserbasyon, ilang napadayag ang mensahe sa biblikanhon gayud nga paagi. Medyo ang ikalimang magwawali maoy nakapukaw sa akong katulugon.Kay sa umpisa o intro pa lang sa iyang mensahe medyo duna na siyay gusto ipasabot sa tumoy sa iya wali. Kay sigun pa niya mualkontra kini sa saad sa Ginoo nga mabasa sa Hebrehanon 13:5: “Dili ko gayud kamo biyaan ni talikdan”. Iyang gipangusgan usab nga ang tinuod daw nga translation niini mao, “My God, my God, this is my destiny!”.

Usahay lisud kayo para kanato ang pagsabot sa Iyang mga Pulong kung ato lamang kining I-translate sa atuang kaugalingong panghunahuna ug pagsabot lamang. Kung atua kining usabon kung unsa nay nahisulat, (kawang lamang ang mga pag-antos tungod kay libuan na ka mga katuigan ang nanglabay ang atuang mga bible scholars nga maoy gigiyahan sa Dios aron sa paghubad niini) kita nakahimo ug dakung kalapasan sa mga pahimangno sa Dios kanato nga dili ug dili na mausab kun unsa nay nahisulat ug Iyang mahamtangan ug silot ang muhimo niini! Revelation 22:18-19.

Karon nga kabuntagon, gusto nako mapadayag ang mga kamatuoran diha sa mga pag-antos ug sakripisyo sa atong Ginoong Hesukristo ug ngano man nga ang Amahan nagtugot ug nagtugyan sa Iyang Anak aron kini mag-antos. Atua kining pagasabton kun unsa ang “Mensahe” niini ug dili sa pagsabot sa literal nga pamaagi. “Ang Kamatuoran maoy maghatag kanatog kagawasan” Juan 8:32.

Adunay tulo ka mga dagkong butang sa Kamatuoran sa Sakripisyo sa atong Ginoong Hesukristo nga atong masinati dinhi sa Basahon sa Roma 10:8-17

I – Ang Kamatuoran nga ang Dios, Dios alang sa Tanan (v. 12)

“Alang kini sa tanan sanglit wala may kalainan sa mga Judio ug sa dili Judio; ang Dios mao ray Ginoo sa tanan, ug manalangin sa tanan nga magsangpit kaniya.”

Illus.- Akong nahinumduman ang kauban nako na scholar during my college days, siya karon nag work abroad sa nasud Israel. Siya nagasaysay nga sa matag Sabbath ang iyang agalon nga mga Hudiyo dili gayud magatrabaho bisan sa pag alsa sa hilhig o sa bisan unsang mga butang. Usa ka adlaw sa Sabbath siya nangutana sa iyang agalon nga Hudiyo:

“Madam, ngano man kamo lang magpahulay sa adlaw sa Sabbath samtang kami padayon man sa pagwork?” Ang iyang agalon mitubag: “Tungod kay ang amoang Dios, amoa lang, wala moy labot kay dili man mo Hudiyo.”

Tinuod ba nga ang Dios para lang sa mga Hudiyo? Ang Iya bang gugma alang lang kanila? Usahay bisan kita sa atoang kaugalingon magapangandak kita nga kita lang ang gihigugma sa Dios! Ang mga tawo nga anaa sa gawas nga ginatawag natong “unbeliever” walay labot sa gugma sa Dios. Ug usahay sayon lamang kanato ang paghukom kanila. Usahay muingon kita nga kita lamang ang mga pinili. Kita lamang ang adunay katungod sa iyang gugma! Kun ingon niana ang atuang panghunahuna, anaa kanato ang Ispiritu sa Pagkagarbuso (Spiritual Pride). Ug tinuod ba nga ang Dios adunay pinalabi? Wala! Kay ang tanan walay kalainan, tanan nakalapas sa Standard sa Dios ug nanginahanglan sa Iyang bug-os ug walay makasukod nga GUGMA! (Juan 3:16) ug ““…Kay siya, sa walay pagpili, nagpasidlak sa iyang adlaw ug naghatag ug ulan ngadto sa mga matarong ug sa mga makasasala.” Mateo 5:45b.

II – Ang Kamatuoran nga ang Kaluwasan, Kaluwasan Alang sa Tanan (v.13)

Sumala sa Kasulatan, “Ang tanan nga magsangpit sa ngalan sa Ginoo maluwas.”

Unexpected Kindness

In 1818 a man named Tamatoe, King of the South Sea island of Huahine, became a Christian. Shortly thereafter, he discovered a plot to seize him and other converts and burn them to death.

Tamatoe organized a band that attacked the conspirators, captured and bound them—and then set before them a feast! The unexpected kindness so impressed his enemies that they burned their idols and confessed Christ.

Lisud sa usa ka tawo ang pagsangpit sa Labaw’ng Makagagahum kung sa iyang kasingkasing walay luna ang “Pagtoo” bisan na lamang kagamay sama sa liso sa mustasa. Kay para kaniya ang tanang butang Ispirituhanon binuang kini kaniya. 1Cor 2:14 says: “The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

2. Ang PAGSANGPITsa Ngalan sa Ginoo maoy Pultahan sa KALUWASAN.

Daghan ang mga tawo nagahimo ug sariling paningkamot aron makakab-ot ug makaangkon sa kaluwasan. Ang uban nagasakripisyo, ginasakit ang lawas, nagahimog paghalad sa dagkong simbahan, naningkamot nga dili makasakit sa iyang isigkatawo, ug ang uban naningkamot sa pagpangita sa Ginoo pinaagi sa pag-adto sa “Balaang Siyudad” sa Israel aron makasinati sa presensya sa Ginoo!

Ang pangutana: kanus-a, asa ug kanus-a maangkon ang Kaluwasan? Ang bersikulo 8 nagaingon: Ang giingon mao: “Duol kaninyo ang mensahe sa Dios, anaa sa inyong ngabil ug sa inyong kasingkasing”- Buot ipasabot, dili lisud ang pag-angkon sa Kaluwasan, kay ang Kaluwasan anaa nang daan giandam sa Ginoo aron atong maangkon ug ang paglitok ug ang Pagtoo niini maoy susi aron atoa kining Maangkon! Bersikulo 9-10: “Maluwas ka kon ipahayag mo nga si Jesus mao ang Ginoo, ug sa kinasingkasing motuo ka nga gibanhaw siya sa Dios. Kay mituo man kita sa kinasingkasing gayod, gimatarong kita sa Dios; ug naluwas kita kay gipahayag man nato kini.”

Jim Cymbala preaches at a church in the slums of New York. He tells the following story: It was Easter Sunday and I was so tired at the end of the day that I just went to the edge of the platform, pulled down my tie and sat down and draped my feet over the edge. It was a wonderful service with many people coming forward. The counselors were talking with these people.

As I was sitting there I looked up the middle aisle, and there in about the third row was a man who looked about fifty, disheveled, filthy. He looked up at me rather sheepishly, as if saying, “Could I talk to you?”

We have homeless people coming in all the time, asking for money or whatever. So as I sat there, I said to myself, though I am ashamed of it, “What a way to end a Sunday. I’ve had such a good time, preaching and ministering, and here’s a fellow probably wanting some money for more wine.”

He walked up. When he got within about five feet of me, I smelled a horrible smell like I’d never smelled in my life. It was so awful that when he got close, I would inhale by looking away, and then I’d talk to him, and then look away to inhale, because I couldn’t inhale facing him. I asked him, “What’s your name?”

“David.”

“How long have you been on the street?”

“Six years.”

“How old are you?”

“Thirty-two.” He looked fifty--hair matted; front teeth missing; wino; eyes slightly glazed.

“Where did you sleep last night, David?”

“Abandoned truck.”

I keep in my back pocket a money clip that also holds some credit cards. I fumbled to pick one out thinking; I’ll give him some money. I won’t even get a volunteer. They are all busy talking with others. Usually we don’t give money to people. We take them to get something to eat.

I took the money out. David pushed his finger in front of me. He said, “I don’t want your money. I want this Jesus, the One you were talking about, because I’m not going to make it. I’m going to die on the street.”

I completely forgot about David, and I started to weep for myself. I was going to give a couple of dollars to someone God had sent to me. See how easy it is? I could make the excuse I was tired. There is no excuse. I was not seeing him the way God sees him. I was not feeling what God feels.

I. The Scriptures

II. God

There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

A. God the Father

God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. He is fatherly in His attitude toward all men.

B. God the Son

Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, fully God, fully man, in whose Person is effected the reconciliation between God and man. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all believers as the living and ever present Lord.

C. God the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Through illumination He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He calls men to the Saviour, and effects regeneration. At the moment of regeneration He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in the Christian is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.

III. Man

Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God's creation. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation of Satan man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original innocence whereby his posterity inherit a nature and an environment inclined toward sin. Therefore, as soon as they are capable of moral action, they become transgressors and are under condemnation. Only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God. The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for man; therefore, every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

IV. Salvation

Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.

A. Regeneration, or the new birth, is a work of God's grace whereby believers become new creatures in Christ Jesus. It is a change of heart wrought by the Holy Spirit through conviction of sin, to which the sinner responds in repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Repentance and faith are inseparable experiences of grace.

Repentance is a genuine turning from sin toward God. Faith is the acceptance of Jesus Christ and commitment of the entire personality to Him as Lord and Saviour.

B. Justification is God's gracious and full acquittal upon principles of His righteousness of all sinners who repent and believe in Christ. Justification brings the believer unto a relationship of peace and favor with God.

C. Sanctification is the experience, beginning in regeneration, by which the believer is set apart to God's purposes, and is enabled to progress toward moral and spiritual maturity through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in him. Growth in grace should continue throughout the regenerate person's life.

D. Glorification is the culmination of salvation and is the final blessed and abiding state of the redeemed.

V. God's Purpose of Grace

Election is the gracious purpose of God, according to which He regenerates, justifies, sanctifies, and glorifies sinners. It is consistent with the free agency of man, and comprehends all the means in connection with the end. It is the glorious display of God's sovereign goodness, and is infinitely wise, holy, and unchangeable. It excludes boasting and promotes humility.

All true believers endure to the end. Those whom God has accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit, will never fall away from the state of grace, but shall persevere to the end. Believers may fall into sin through neglect and temptation, whereby they grieve the Spirit, impair their graces and comforts, and bring reproach on the cause of Christ and temporal judgments on themselves; yet they shall be kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation.

VI. The Church

A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the two ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. Each congregation operates under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes. In such a congregation each member is responsible and accountable to Christ as Lord. Its scriptural officers are pastors and deacons. While both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor is limited to men as qualified by Scripture.

The New Testament speaks also of the church as the Body of Christ which includes all of the redeemed of all the ages, believers from every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation.

VII. Baptism and the Lord's Supper

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord's Supper.

The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.

VIII. The Lord's Day

The first day of the week is the Lord's Day. It is a Christian institution for regular observance. It commemorates the resurrection of Christ from the dead and should include exercises of worship and spiritual devotion, both public and private. Activities on the Lord's Day should be commensurate with the Christian's conscience under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

IX. The Kingdom

The Kingdom of God includes both His general sovereignty over the universe and His particular kingship over men who willfully acknowledge Him as King. Particularly the Kingdom is the realm of salvation into which men enter by trustful, childlike commitment to Jesus Christ. Christians ought to pray and to labor that the Kingdom may come and God's will be done on earth. The full consummation of the Kingdom awaits the return of Jesus Christ and the end of this age.

X. Last Things

God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will be raised; and Christ will judge all men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment. The righteous in their resurrected and glorified bodies will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord.

XI. Evangelism and Missions

It is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ and of every church of the Lord Jesus Christ to endeavor to make disciples of all nations. The new birth of man's spirit by God's Holy Spirit means the birth of love for others. Missionary effort on the part of all rests thus upon a spiritual necessity of the regenerate life, and is expressly and repeatedly commanded in the teachings of Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ has commanded the preaching of the gospel to all nations. It is the duty of every child of God to seek constantly to win the lost to Christ by verbal witness undergirded by a Christian lifestyle, and by other methods in harmony with the gospel of Christ.

XII. Education

Christianity is the faith of enlightenment and intelligence. In Jesus Christ abide all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. All sound learning is, therefore, a part of our Christian heritage. The new birth opens all human faculties and creates a thirst for knowledge. Moreover, the cause of education in the Kingdom of Christ is co-ordinate with the causes of missions and general benevolence, and should receive along with these the liberal support of the churches. An adequate system of Christian education is necessary to a complete spiritual program for Christ's people.

In Christian education there should be a proper balance between academic freedom and academic responsibility. Freedom in any orderly relationship of human life is always limited and never absolute. The freedom of a teacher in a Christian school, college, or seminary is limited by the pre-eminence of Jesus Christ, by the authoritative nature of the Scriptures, and by the distinct purpose for which the school exists.

XIII. Stewardship

God is the source of all blessings, temporal and spiritual; all that we have and are we owe to Him. Christians have a spiritual debtor-ship to the whole world, a holy trusteeship in the gospel, and a binding stewardship in their possessions. They are therefore under obligation to serve Him with their time, talents, and material possessions; and should recognize all these as entrusted to them to use for the glory of God and for helping others. According to the Scriptures, Christians should contribute of their means cheerfully, regularly, systematically, proportionately, and liberally for the advancement of the Redeemer's cause on earth.

XIV. Cooperation

Christ's people should, as occasion requires, organize such associations and conventions as may best secure cooperation for the great objects of the Kingdom of God. Such organizations have no authority over one another or over the churches. They are voluntary and advisory bodies designed to elicit, combine, and direct the energies of our people in the most effective manner. Members of New Testament churches should cooperate with one another in carrying forward the missionary, educational, and benevolent ministries for the extension of Christ's Kingdom. Christian unity in the New Testament sense is spiritual harmony and voluntary cooperation for common ends by various groups of Christ's people. Cooperation is desirable between the various Christian denominations, when the end to be attained is itself justified, and when such cooperation involves no violation of conscience or compromise of loyalty to Christ and His Word as revealed in the New Testament.

XV. The Christian and the Social Order

All Christians are under obligation to seek to make the will of Christ supreme in our own lives and in human society. Means and methods used for the improvement of society and the establishment of righteousness among men can be truly and permanently helpful only when they are rooted in the regeneration of the individual by the saving grace of God in Jesus Christ. In the spirit of Christ, Christians should oppose racism, every form of greed, selfishness, and vice, and all forms of sexual immorality, including adultery, homosexuality, and pornography. We should work to provide for the orphaned, the needy, the abused, the aged, the helpless, and the sick. We should speak on behalf of the unborn and contend for the sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death. Every Christian should seek to bring industry, government, and society as a whole under the sway of the principles of righteousness, truth, and brotherly love. In order to promote these ends Christians should be ready to work with all men of good will in any good cause, always being careful to act in the spirit of love without compromising their loyalty to Christ and His truth.

XVI. Peace and War

It is the duty of Christians to seek peace with all men on principles of righteousness. In accordance with the spirit and teachings of Christ they should do all in their power to put an end to war.

The true remedy for the war spirit is the gospel of our Lord. The supreme need of the world is the acceptance of His teachings in all the affairs of men and nations, and the practical application of His law of love. Christian people throughout the world should pray for the reign of the Prince of Peace.

XVII. Religious Liberty

God alone is Lord of the conscience, and He has left it free from the doctrines and commandments of men which are contrary to His Word or not contained in it. Church and state should be separate. The state owes to every church protection and full freedom in the pursuit of its spiritual ends. In providing for such freedom no ecclesiastical group or denomination should be favored by the state more than others. Civil government being ordained of God, it is the duty of Christians to render loyal obedience thereto in all things not contrary to the revealed will of God. The church should not resort to the civil power to carry on its work. The gospel of Christ contemplates spiritual means alone for the pursuit of its ends. The state has no right to impose penalties for religious opinions of any kind. The state has no right to impose taxes for the support of any form of religion. A free church in a free state is the Christian ideal, and this implies the right of free and unhindered access to God on the part of all men, and the right to form and propagate opinions in the sphere of religion without interference by the civil power.

XVIII. The Family

God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption.

Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God's unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, the channel of sexual expression according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race.

The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God's image. The marriage relationship models the way God relates to His people. A husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the church. He has the God-given responsibility to provide for, to protect, and to lead his family. A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ. She, being in the image of God as is her husband and thus equal to him, has the God-given responsibility to respect her husband and to serve as his helper in managing the household and nurturing the next generation.

Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. Parents are to demonstrate to their children God's pattern for marriage. Parents are to teach their children spiritual and moral values and to lead them, through consistent lifestyle example and loving discipline, to make choices based on biblical truth. Children are to honor and obey their parents.

Hi, there!

It's weekend and I miss going to church since I'm working on Sundays. :'(

I just got to thinking today. How far am I knowing about the WORD of GOD?

Though I read the Holy Bible but I have to admit that I could not memorized all the Bible book names orderly, and I even had less than 5 memory-verses. (sob')

By the way, I was browsing the net today, and I found this video on my friend's FB wall.

After watching it, I suddenly remember the time when I was invited by a friend joining church' assembly before.

During the second part of the program, my friend smiled at me and handed me a folded paper.

"Answer this.", she whispered.

It was a Bible book names puzzles. The written paragraph is this:

Can you find sixteen (16) books of the Bible in this paragraph?

I once made a remark about the hidden books of the Bible (merely by a fluke). It kept people looking so hard for the facts and for others it was a revelation. Some were in a jam, especially since the name of the books were not capitalized, but the truth finally struck home to numbers of readers. To others it was a real job. We want it to be a most fascinating few moments for you. Yes, there will be some really easy ones to spot. Others may require judges to help them. I will quickly admit it usually takes a minister to find one of them, and there will be loud lamentations when it is found. A little lady says she brews a cup of tea so she can concentrate better. See how well you can compete. Relax now. There really are sixteen names of books in this story.

Well, I answered it in a minute. Then she handed me another one, and promise, I will post it next time. ^^
