I’m just getting around to blogging some of my sessions from this past summer, and I can’t wait to share this one with you. This has to be one of my favorite sessions to date. I know I say that all the time, but it’s hard not to when I have such great families to work with! This family came prepared to our session, with a bag full of goodies and props that made for one very fun filled and unique session. I loved it! Could this little girl be any more adorable?

Is there anything more beautiful than a mother carrying her growing baby? I had the huge pleasure of capturing this beautiful family, and their love for each other and the tiny arrival waiting to meet her new family was amazing to witness. I can only wish I looked as beautiful while pregnant, as this mama.

Kristen, thanks so much for letting me capture this beautiful time in your life. Congrats on the arrival of beautiful baby Lana! I’m sure she’s got everyone wrapped around her tiny finger.

I was so excited when I was contacted to do photos for JD, who will be a senior at Nixa High School this coming fall. As you can tell, most of my clients tend to be of the wiggly, sticky fingered variety. While it is a ton of fun shooting the little ones, it is just as fun to get to photograph a young adult, who doesn’t need to be bribed with candy to sit still for the camera. JD was SUCH a natural in front of the camera, and so patient with me while I did my thing. As you can see, the camera loves him!

JD, I hope you and your family enjoy your pictures. You were so great to work with, and I hope you enjoy your senior year at Nixa high. Go Eagles!

Project 52 – Nature

I haven’t posted a photo from my 52 Week Project in a while. The theme last week was “Nature”, and since the little cherry tree in my front yard was just blooming it was perfect! They only bloom for about a week every year, but I love these pink blossoms.

I love to work with sunlight when taking photographs. Your light really is the key to great pictures, which is why the majority of my sessions take place during the “golden hour” – the last two hours before sunset. During this time the light is soft and really flattering, and you don’t have to worry about harsh shadows and squinty eyes.

That being said, it is not the ONLY time I shoot. I also like overcast days! Now you may be thinking, “Wait a minute, you just said light was important.” Overcast days can give you some really great light. The reason? Those big, fluffy clouds in the sky! When it’s overcast, I don’t have to worry about what time of day it is – which is why this session with my soon took place at noon. All that heavy cloud coverage softens the sun and really helps colors to pop in your pictures.

I’ve been wanting to do a fun, rainy day shoot with my son for a while now, and this rainy day was perfect. Even if it was a bit chilly!

I’ve almost wrapped up blogging all my fall sessions, and here is another for you to enjoy! I was excited when this family decided to go with a more urban scene, which led us downtown to explore what the area had to offer. We weren’t disappointed with all the cool places we found, and little Logan was a natural in front of the camera. Watch out girls!

I’m way behind on blogging my sessions! I’ve been so busy with bookings and the looming holidays, that I’ve not had time for a new post.
