I didn't promise him to really make a good one because it has been a while since I played with clay. We'll be integrating Roman Heads and arts this week so I planned to make a Roman Head of a Goddess: Aphrodite. I thought that it would be easier for me to make a female head but I changed my mind and decided on making a male Roman Head, Hermes which in Roman known as Mercury. In the middle of sculpting, I was still thinking of making Aphrodite's head that in the end, my scupture looked like half aphrodite and half mercury LOL I guess, this would be OK. The teacher didn't tell me specifically whose head to make :)

Cake Frosting

This is a hobby that I like but just got no time to do it. I have baked a lot of cake already since it is easy to do it. The fun part for me is the frosting and decorating. I spend time putting something attractive to the cake. And sometimes, I make designs that fit the occasion or the season. I just do simple frosting but I really want to try using icing which is really interesting. I like the different colors and the designs. Someday, I will use that. As for now, I'll keep on using the regular frosting and its colorful sprinkles. Also, I will make more layers of cake.

The Dragon

Our lesson was about China and its Great Wall. So we chose to put up decorations and displays that were related with China. The kids outlined the big dragon on our classroom's wall with the help of a projector. Then I finished the outline and painted it. The dragon represents the Great Wall of China which is described as such. The way the wall was made, it looks like a dragon when seen from above. I had fun painting this dragon. With the glitters glued to it, t became so lively. It doesn't look that pretty on the picture though but it is really attractive and an awesome work of art. Thanks to the teachers and the students who helped.

Winter Scarves

Winter is not over yet so I have enough time to make some scarves. This is a hobby that I have started to love. It seems like easy to make but it takes time. Preparing the length and cutting the scarf is not that difficult but putting the beads needs patience. As for me, it needs enough time to decide on what color to use and what design of beads to use. If you just want to pick random colors to be used, it would be quick. But I like to be creative and make the scarf really attractive.
You can try making it too. This could be a nice gift idea. I even gave one already to a friend as a Holiday gift. It is a perfect gift for a friend or a family member this winter season. I worked with my other co-teachers too like Mr. Carlo Nagba, Mr. Jayffer Regis and Mr. Dante Lacsi. It was a nice experience working with them and I miss it a lot. Every summer, the staff meet and work with the college official yearbook, the Memento. Before I worked only with the high school yearbook, Capitolian, but it was stopped and included in Memento. So the college now is making one yearbook for all and there is only one staff, the Memento. It was fun to be part of the staff. I had a great time travelling to Davao for the final reading and printing. I enjoyed the places we visited. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will never forget. I thank everyone for the friendship. Hope to see you soon and hope to see your future yearbooks made.

While at work...

Sir Lacsi, Sir Jayffer, Yours Truly

Mural Painting

Jacinto, Me, Bernard, Mark & XX (forgot his name :( )

My husband's son asked me to make a mural on his daughters' room and I gladly said "Sure." It was when we were at the Art Shop doing some ceramic painting. I guess, he just realized that I had the talent. All the people there were amazed by how I painted the mermaid on the ceramic plate without using a pencil for the outline. I just used paint directly, as what most painters do, and created a beautiful image out of it. The kids were so excited and they told me to paint their bedroom walls with a jungle theme. They like animals and the trees. I haven't done it yet and I told them I haven't made a mural painting for years now. The last time I remember was when I worked in Iligan Capitol College. It was not a wall or a ceiling but I painted on a big piece of Styrofoam for decoration purposes. It was not really considered as a mural since it was not a permanent surface (A mural is a painting on a wall, ceiling, or other large permanent surface). I was always assigned to do the decorations whenever there was an activity like graduation or JS prom. But when I was in college, I had joined a mural painting contest along with my classmates as a group and won the first prize. The theme was about the celebration of the Philippine Independence day and we were asked to make a mural painting on the univeristy (MSU-IIT) tennis court fence/wall. It was done annually and that year we were the champions. I had the idea and my classmates helped me in painting it. We were 5 in a group and I was the only female member. I remember so well when Jacinto, the leader beg me to join them. I was glad I agreed to it and we made it.

Miniature Dream House

This used to be my miniature dream house. I created this one using waste materials such as old vinyl tile, old vinyl carpet, used tag boards, Tanduay rhum carton, old Styrofoam, used folders and stationary papers. I used water color for the swimming pool and old pictures for the decorations. I had a bar inside, a living room, formal dining room with sliding doors, a master bedroom, 2 guest rooms and inside utility. It was a cute house but nice layout. The layout and design was based on the floor plan and perspective I made. It has been chosen as one of the most resourceful projects. It was during my college years when I made this. It was one of the projects of my major subject. It took me for a month to finish this and had it exhibited along with the other students' works. There was a feeling of pride when it was exhibited and it was one of the best projects. Of course, Jacinto Geronimo's work was always nice and I accepted that I could be a second or third best. I am a girl anyway and he's a guy classmate. I still have this work of art but I left it in Philippines where I lived. Someday, I can make this house bigger and live in it because it is my dream house...

My Christmas Tree

This is the same tree that I used last year. According to my husband, this one is an antique tree so we didn't throw it away. It might be very useful if we couldn't find a tree for Christmas. I guess, we were right. We really planned to have a real tree this year for our Christmas tree. Since hubby was too busy and we didn't have time to go somewhere where we could buy a tree, I set this up myself. He was surprised when he saw it and told me we can go buy a tree right away. I told him that it was already late because Christmas is fast approaching and it would be a waste of money if we buy a tree that can be used for a few days. He was right in some ways because it doesn't matter how long you gonna keep the tree. The important thing is that you have a tree in Christmas day. Well, I put it up and decorated the tree already so I just told him to have the real tree next year. Though the real tree will really look beautiful and nice with my ballerina and ceramic angel decors, this antique tree is still OK. It is not good on the picture but I like looking at it. The motif is pink and blue so I have pink poinsettia, ceramic ballerinas dressed in pink and blue, pink ceramic angels and blue sparkling balls. There are still a lot of things we miss...the lights and the gifts!

Santa and Me

My Santa Claus was my husband and he asked me what I wished for this holiday. I actually had a lot in my mind but my mind went blank that I couldn't think of the things that I like most. I told him I want the Wii fit and the digital picture frame but it is OK if I won't have the latter because I only asked it for the sake of my advertisement to that other post I made. I really love to have the Wii fit games and its board. I also want to have new clothing and shoes but not necessarily be given this holiday because we just bought these stuff already. Hubby just recommended it but it is not my priority. The thing that I want most to have is a new cell phone with a bigger display so I can browse the Internet properly. With this, I can make posts on my blogs wherever I am. I will be happy if I will receive one of these already or anything even if I haven't asked it as long that it has given to me this Christmas. The thought really matters to me and it is important. So Merry Christmas everyone!

Sketching Time

I used to make sketches whenever I was on my rostrum back in Philippines. Especially when I conducted examinations, my hand itched for a piece of paper and a pen. So I sketched while observing the students taking the test. After sketching, my students then will ask for it and keep it as a remembrance from me.

Now, I am doing the same habit. I am working now as a teacher aid here in California. I assist the teachers in maintaining the classroom to be conducive to learning and help the teachers in his tasks as well like assisting students on what to do. There are some days that I am too relax and there are also some crazy days (You know what I mean). But I like my job. I thought, I was really born to guide and be with the students.

Today, my day was not that hectic. I was assigned in a class with a few number of students so it was easy for me to observe them. I had a time to sit down and make some sketches. I get bored too so making sketches is really a fun way to kill the time. I bet others do that too. But I still sketch even if I am not bored. I can draw a nice one if I am in a nice mood. But this morning I had made a quick sketch because I was bored. It took me a few minutes to sketch this while observing and assisting the students. Feels like I am still in Philippines, doing the same thing that I have used to do. Only this time around, I kept it and didn't give it to any one of the students...

Wonder Woman

This was a video of me giving a speech that talks about my talents. It was one of my 10 Toastmasters speech projects. My co-teastmasters member missed to take a video of my catchy introduction. I was screaming "DARNA" after I swallowed a stone. It was an act only. I asked one of the members where the stone was and he acted too that he gave it to me. I also used 3 cut silver stars and taped the two stars on my chest and on my forehead then imitated "Darna," our local Wonder Woman. It was fun and I was glad they liked it. The speech exceeded the time limit with a few seconds but t'was ok. The objective of this Speech Project number 9 is to persuade the audience. My topic was not that good, but I had no choice but to use it because I had limited time of preparation at that time. I was aiming to finish the 10 speeches but I was too busy with my work in school. Thank God, I did it but not really that great. At least, I had delivered it with confidence. It is important!

Bienvenue!

Bienvenue is the french word for welcome and it is my surname too :) This artwork was created by a student where I was assigned to work last week. I was working with an Art teacher who's Filipino too. At that time, the students were asked to do something after they have finished their art project. A student named Anthony asked my name and he just scribbled something on his paper. Then I noticed he was lettering my name. He is an artistic and creative young man. He didn't finish it during their period but he came back at lunch time and finished it. He then gave the paper to me and even reminded me after class about the artwork and I almost left it in the classroom. I really appreciated what he has created. He applied my favorite colors too. Thanks for the effort and for sharing your talent. I liked what I have read about Ev-Leen's Dance Studio. I like the location too because it is closer to where I live, downtown. Originally, I plan to take belly-dancing classes and when I read about their dance audition, I right away called them. It will be their silver anniversary next year and they are planning a dance production for the big event. That is why they are recruiting dancers and I was interested. I went to the location and I was welcomed warmly. I met the owner, Ms. Eve-lyne Thomas, and she let me choose music for my dance pieces. I told them that I haven't danced for more than two years already and I was not as flexible as before. But she assured me that it was OK, as long that I can feel the music and show my moves. I was called moments later after I have chosen my music by Santana. I wasn't nervous but I was not really sure what I will do. I haven't practiced that dance and it was an impromptu dance. When I heard the music, I just let my body move with it gracefully for about a minute and they just told me I was good. Thank God I did it or I'll be ashamed. I told them I was a dance troupe adviser back in Phi and I was a performer on stage. I didn't want them to be disappointed and I was glad they liked it. They just recommended me to take ballet classes because I didn't know the terms but I can do the basic steps. Also, I was interested with Zumba that will be opened for classes soon. If you are interested, you can join too. My goal is to lose weight and be as active as what I was before.

AutoCad Operator

During my college years, we were asked to have an apprenticeship in industrial companies and other establishments in order to graduate. Every Christmas party, the teachers will ask me to dance for the class. Since then, I danced till I got a job as a teacher. I remember during my high school years in Iligan City, my classmates would ask me to dance with them. I was always involved in variety shows and I did interpretative dancing. Even now, I love jazz. I like to dance gracefully with the music. I did HipHop dances before but I like jazz more. The picture above was taken when my classmates and I presented an interpretative dancing about our country at the school's Friendship Center during our flag ceremony. The school was celebrating the Month of Language which is Filipino. On the picture were Joel Pillazar, Heinrich Apilan, Michelle Chan Yee, Rendylou , Elliezer Toledo and me. I might have forgotten some of the dancers, it was years ago :) This was only one of the dances that I have presented in school.

Foot Painting

Everytime I am in the bathroom, I tend to find something to do. And my Hubby saw me scribbling using my foot when I was sitting on my throne. I didn't realize that I was doing that until he asked me if I can paint using my foot. I doubtly answered him "Yes." I haven't tried doing that yet but I did try writing using my right foot. I can even make a drawing on a sand using it. The same goes with my left foot. I am not sure if I can paint but there's no harm in trying. I will definitely try foot painting. If I can't do it, well, there is always room for improvement. Bet some people will ask "Why force your foot when you can do it with your hand?" It is just a matter of self exploration. We have unknown capabilities that need to be discovered :)

Iligan Capitol College Foundation Day

Senyoritas (Maria Clara dance) with Janette Mercado, Mary Ann Monterola, Yours Truly and Melona Nuevas

It was a very memorable year for me when our school has its 40th Foundation Day celebration. At that time, I was really exhausted due to a lot of school activities. Marie Gold and I was the adviser of the dance troupe and in lieu with the celebration, we prepared a cultural dance show. I was in-charge of the costumes too and the decoration. I was not only supervising the students but I danced with them as well. Among the other teachers and the students, I was the one who had the most dances. I did the interpretative dance, Maria Clara dance-the senyoritas (on the pic), rural dances and more. With the help of Ma'am Pai, the show was successful. We even presented 2 dance numbers during the testimonial dinner in honor of Madame Laureana Rosales, the owner of our school, Iligan Capitol College.

Balse Quirino (Rural Dance): Wilhelma Basco, yours truly, Melona Nuevas and Mary Ann Monterola with Madame Rosales , her daughter and other guests (VIP table)

Math Wizards

Joel Pillazar, Mylah Villacorte, Joan Cabili, Our Coach and teacher, Angelie Flores, Yours Truly, Viviano Malonhao

I belonged to a Science Curriculum class in High School and in fact, we were the second batch of the science curriculum. We had a lot of activities compared to the regular classes. We were considered smarter and brilliant. We were carefully screened in order to get in the class. In every year level there were only at least two sections and three at most. There were only a few students that was why we became so close and it seemed like we were all classmates even we have different sections. It was because the same faces were seen every after a school year. No one was added in the class, but there were students who were kicked out from the curriculum. Thank God I made it till fourth year. I was not really an active student but teachers tried hard to get me involved. I might not be too showy and interactive in the class but I was good with my test results. I hated to interact before and I was a late bloomer. I didn't care to talk and was too shy to make friends. But when teachers started to see my abilities, they included me in the school's activities. They had encouraged me to join the slogan and painting contests, haiku and creative writing, Math Olympiad and more. I won first place with my slogan and landed second place with my classmates on the math trail competition during the Math Olympiad. I was proud of myself and my parents too. Since then, I started to gain self-confidence and belief in myself. Thanks to my teachers who inspired me and guided me to become what I am now.

Disney's Animation Academy

Hubby and I went to Disneyland's California Adventure theme park last year on my birthday. It was a dream came true for me since it was my first time to go to Disneyland. It felt like I was a kid again and really enjoyed the park. There were a lot of attractions at the park and a day will not be enough to try all the rides and watch the shows. There are a lot of fun things to do for kids and even if we didn't have one, we joined and had fun with other kids. We attended the drawing or sketching lessons at the Animation Academy. It was so cool how our favorite Disney characters are created. There we were taught how to sketch the characters and we were chosen to draw one by ourselves. Step-by-step, we were instructed on how to create Donald Duck. It was fun, hubby and I enjoyed it. It was so easy when you follow the creators. The ones who can't draw, can make it using their instructions. I came up with a nice drawing while hubby's drawing was not bad. He said, his was a drunk Donald Duck LOL Above was a picture taken after the lesson at the academy. That was COOL!

Make Videos or Picture Presentation with Windows Movie Maker

This time around, I was using Windows Movie Maker software for my picture presentation. I did a lot of videos and slides at Youtube using this one. You may search my user name, felicityme, if you want to check out my works. The above presentation is not really good since I was using dull pictures. I just captured these pics using the webcam that was why the pics were not so clear. But I did apply transitions, music, credits/titles and animation with it. These are some of the features that you can use with the Movie Maker. Try it now. Click your Start Menu, click All Programs, then look for Windows Movie Maker.

Make a Picture Presentation with PhotoStory 3

This is the picture presentation I made dedicated to my co-teachers. Before I left Philippines, I created this with the use of Photostory software that I have downloaded online. You can use it too with your pictures so you can make a Photo Story. Search it on the net and download for free. I think there is a latest software now that has more features than this. Try it and explore it. make a presentation for your friends and love one. It could be a nice gift to your friends and family who live far from you. You can also create one for your projects in school or for your activities at work. Students like it when their teacher or adviser dances or sings in front of their parents and friends. They feel proud for that. As for the decoration, everybody was happy to have a successful show and a nice stage for all performers.

The variety show that we made was so successful, it was one of the last shows that I have joined before resigning as a teacher. A painter can paint using his fingers and hands, paint brushes, sticks or plant stems. Whatever the painter uses to paint on a canvass, it is the art.

I did use paint brushes on my painting. The lady on the canvass was a GUESS model printed on a GUESS handbag. It was a picture of a lady sitting on a chair. At that time, I like the color red and its shade. So when I saw that picture, I right away made a sketch of it on the canvass and applied paint. It took me a month to finish it because I was a college student before and this was a requirement in one of my subjects. This was my first canvass painting and I was confident before that I can make it. You see, if you have the talent, don't be scared to try it. I told myself I can do it so I was so proud when this was exhibited, along with other paintings, in the College of Educations hallway during the MSU-IIT Foundation Day.

Ceramic Painting

It was a fun day for us when we spent our father's day at Color Me Mine Art Shop. After a few years of being not able to touch a paint brush, my right hand was given the chance to be in contact with the artist's trademark: the paint brush.

It has been a hard time for me to choose what to paint and which ceramic I'll be painting on. When I saw the plate with embossed seafood on it, I remember the little mermaid which was one of my favorite Disney characters and I used to draw and color when I was a kid. Felt like I was a kid, so excited on painting again. I also remember Dyesebel (Philippine famous mermaid) so I thought, this would be a nice gift for my husband for Father's Day. Dyesebel's love to her prince charming was pure, just like my love to him. So I did it and put our names on the plate.

Clam

StarFish
Another type of ShellFish

Another StarFish

Fish

:) The background color should be painted horizontally.
