It made me think and ask myself why do I like shuckers so much ?

Here is what I found as I thought about it.

1. The food Is very good and you get a very good portion for what you pay.

Have you ever been to one of those seafood places that has a Batter on the food that’s a mile thick and good luck on finding the real seafood ?

This is not one of those places. The food is not over salted and it is not overcooked either. I can see why people who have overcooked seafood get turned off to seafood.

2. You feel welcome and The crew Really looks after you.
I have been to restaurants where the server does everything they can to avoid eye contact so they don’t have to take care of you.

That’s one of my pet peeves. No worries , you won‘t get that here.
Let me quote Eileen the owner “ If you get bad service I want to know it”.

She has a look in her eye that you know she means it.

3. You don’t feel rushed and the place has character. It’s a one of a kind place and if you ask me and that’s a good thing.

Eileen struck me as the kind of person who would Really cares about people.

She told me that about 60% of her customers come from word of mouth And “the locals really support us”.

I don’t think you could get a better endorsement Than that.

I asked Eileen if she watched the food Channel on Tv and she answered with a quick yes. I asked her if she ever got any ideas from watching and she said yes .

She sometimes gets Ideas and then the shuckers twist gets put on it. Eileen said she had a master cook who was Great.
I would agree from what he puts out of the kitchen.

I was lucky enough to be there when Eileen the owner was there.
It was kind of sneaky of me but I kind of ambushed her into an interview.

The lunch rush was starting to come in yet she graciously took time with me to answer my questions. She took her time and I felt no rush.

Her name is Eileen Teston and she had a life long dream to have a restaurant.
She made her dream come true and plans to be here a long time !

I found this on youtube and thought I’d share it with our readers. This is one of Amelia Island’s surviving bed and breakfast homes.
I grew up just around the corner from the fairbanks house and remember when it was a private home. My how times have changed.
This is another great spot to check out if you are thinking of taking an amelia Island vacation.

Some of the best seafood around.

.A while back my mom was telling me about this seafood place.
There are a lot of them around here and I grew up on seafood.
She went on about how good it was so one day I went with her.

It was so good I got hooked !

This is a picture of the place when you pull up outside.
It’s a cool little place.
Here is what you get at Shuckers a good portion of food and the food is delicious.
The prices are reasonable too. Price range is from $6.99 to $10.99 They are open for lunch and dinner.

The seafood here is cooked just right not over done at all.

I’ll fess up and tell you I wanted to keep this place my little secret but that wouldn’t be fair.
So I decided to spill the beans and tell you about it.

You Better get here before they fill up. I did.

I asked Kirby here in the photo some questions And she was kind enough to give me the low down.

I wanted to know a little more of the origin of this place as it didn’t seem to be one of those cookie cutter kind of places where everything was the same. It had it’s own little style. It didn’t have that corporate feel if you know what I mean.
I found out that the owner had a dream one day of having her own restaurant and out of that dream Shcukers was born.
The owner is not the cook but does from time to time go in the kitchen and helps with the food prep.
So she gets her hands in the works and gets involved with what goes to your table.
To me that is a very good sign. She really cares.

She said the place has been here Almost 2 years and they have live music on wed and karaoke on Fri.

This is the 4th year for the Wild Amelia Nature Festival. Last year the Nature Photography contest and classes were a big hit and those programs will be expanded this year. The winning photos included birds, flowers and landscapes.
Wild Amelia Nature Festival

Peter’s Point On South Fletcher Avenue, is a large Nassau County public beech with showers, restrooms, spacious parking, picnic tables, seasonal life guards and board walks to beach. There is a driving ramp to the beach, and driving is allowed with permit (including 4 wheel).

Seaside Park At the end of Sadler Rd on Fletcher Avenue. Beach access and parking with some dune walkovers. There are no public facilities. Sliders is an oceanfront restaurant/bar, a local landmark, with outdoor tiki bar which is located there.

There are also many additional beach parking public accesses along Fletcher Ave south. between the City and Nassau county governments, there are plenty of beach accesses to choose from. You may also want to read our post on Amelia Island recreation and parks
