Offensive formations

Before the ball is snapped the obnoxious team lines up in a formation. Most teams have a "base" formation they prefer to line up in, while other teams leave the defense guessing. Wishbone formation

The wishbone formation, also known naturally as 'bone, is a play formation in American football.

The wishbone is primarily a running formation with one wide receiver, one tight end and three running backs behind the quarterback (who takes the snap under center). The back lined up behind the quarterback is the fullback and the other two are halfbacks (although they may be called tailbacks or I backs in some playbook terminology).

For any team to be successful, each player has to do his best to fulfill positive roles. And this goes well for any sport, even for basketball. Success on the court can only be attained when the game is played as a team. Individually, though, it is your duty to understand what you can do to help your team. Understand first what your capabilities are and then think about what you can contribute to help your team win.

First and foremost, you need to understand your position. Not every person can do everything. Well, unless you're Michael Jordan or Lebron James.

There are five positions that you can play in basketball. The first one is the point guard. In American football, this position can be likened to a quarterback. They are the smallest players on the court. But of course, some have defied the generalization. It's their job to call out plays and to distribute the ball to the guys who are in the best position to score. The best point guards in the world are commonly the ones who can dish out the best assists and make the right decisions with the basketball, most famous of which is Steve Nash.

The next position is the shooting guard. This commonly has the same skill sets as the point guard. The difference, though, lies in scoring. Shooting guards need to be perfect packages when it comes to offense. They have to be great covering shooters, either from the perimeter or the three-point line. They also need to hit their free throws with consistency, as defenses will be tighter on them especially when they go for lay-ups. The St. Louis Rams are an older Nfl team. They began playing in 1936 and were originally in Cleveland, Ohio. They were previously the Cleveland Rams and were a charter member of the second American Football League. At present they play in the Western branch of the Nfc in the National Football League. The team has two Nfl Championships under their belt and one Super Bowl victory.

The team became known as the Rams of Los Angeles after they moved to Los Angeles, California in 1946. Then after the 1979 season, they moved to the south suburbs in Orange County next door and started playing their games in the Anaheim Stadium. They played there for 15 years and kept the Los Angeles name. Then the team was moved to St. Louis just before the 1995 season.

Homer Marshman was the Cleveland Rams founder in 1936. Their name came from the nickname from Fordham University. Rams was a term that was used to honor the football players' hard work ethic that came from the University of the same name. They were originally of the new American football League and they complete their first year with a 5-2-2 record.

It was the next year that the team joined the Nfl and was located in the Western Division. They were like a lot of the teams from that era in that the manpower shortages caused by World War Ii caused them to have to hang play during the 1943 season. They did resume play in 1944 and had a winning season in 1945 in Ohio. They had a 9-1 season description and won their first Nfl Championship. They beat the Washington Redskins in December 16, with a score of 15-14 at home.

Georgia Rosenbloom inherited the team after her husband's death in 1979 while her stepson became the team's manager. Two weeks later, she fired him.

In the 1995 and 196 seasons the Rams were coached by head coach Rich Brooks. Then dick Vermeil was hired as head coach in 1997. He stayed with the team until he retired after the 2000 season. This was the season where the Rams won Super Bowl Xxxiv against Tennessee Titans. Mike Martz was the coach for the next year where the Rams were again in the Super Bowl but got beat by the New England Patriots. That year saw the beginning of a type of downward spiral for the Rams. They do have some excellent players that have been very flourishing with the team. One is the talented Steven Jackson from Oregon State.

After a 28 year colorful rights stint of the Rams, Georgia Frontier passed away in January of 2008. The rights of the team has been passed down to the son Dale "Chip" Rosenbloom and her daughter Lucia Rodriquez. Chip Rosenbloom is the new Rams majority owner.

The Rams are known to be first pro football team to have a logo on their helmet. A team halfback by the name of Fred Gehrke painted "ram Horns" on the team's helmets for the 1948 season. This has been the club's logo ever since.

The team has changed colors any times. They were red and black in 1937 and changed to yellow and blue in 1938. Then they went to solid yellow in the mid 1940s with the yellow gold horns on a blue helmet. Then in 1964, the colors were again changed to blue and white. They have changed nearby their colors on a consistent basis and in 2008 the team was wearing a white jersey with blue pants when they beat the Dallas Cowboys in October by a score of 34-14.

The main problem could be the reluctance to work with the current chairman Ken Bates. He has a history straight through the press that has tainted his prestige throughout the country, and is widely believe to be the sole reason, investors are not willing to do company with the club.

But lets step away from the con's, and start looking at the pro's. If an investor came in wanting to turn the club, he would only need to buy back the assets and clear what is left of the debt. The possible Leeds United have to make money is phenomenal, match days can attract 40000 population to the stadium, and if the club was thriving maybe even duplicate that. With that in mind, an investor, willing to invest in the clubs long term hereafter could absolutely see the dividends paid back. The you have got the merchandise sales. It's no underground that the Pittsburgh Steelers have a big prestige to live up to. Not only are they the oldest team in the American Football Conference, they also have the most champion wins. They've played in no less than six Super Bowls and have won the Super Bowl not once but five times! Maybe the most memorable thing about the Steelers is that they are the only team in the Nfl to go from a sixth seed position to a Super Bowl win. Today, the quiz, on every football fan's mind is, 'Will the Steelers pull off a win this time too?

Ketchup And Mustard

You can't talk about Steelers football without mentioning Heinz Field. Affectionately referred to as the 'Big Ketchup Bottle and the Mustard Palace', Heinz Field has been the home turf for the Steelers since 2001. There has always been a lot of buzz about Heinz Field, and it hasn't always been good. For instance, in 2006 the field was voted as having the worst turf according to a survey by the Nfl Players connection - in fact, it has gained a prestige for having one of the most difficult kicking surfaces. Any way the turf has been improved since then and Green Packers rookie Mason Crosby broke the Nfl description for kicking at Heinz Field.

Today, Heinz Field is home to a team that is on the rebound. It's no underground that the Steelers have been working straight through some rough patches. 2006 was a tough year for the team, as it struggled to enhance their 11-5 description and defend their Super Bowl title. The year before had been littered with player injuries, with Steelers Superstar Ben Roethlisberger being hospitalized after a bike accident. But the team have certainly made a comeback; in 2007 they were able to bring their 11-5 description up to an impressive 8-8 tie.

Tomlin - Roethlisberger Magic

If there seems to be some magic in the Steelers, it might be because of two pieces of heavy-duty arsenal that the team has. One is Coach Mike Tomlin, the first ever African-American head coach for the team. Though Tomlin has never played in the Nfl, he has been one of the best defensive coaches in the league. He was the defensive coordinator for the Vikings in 2006 and they had the dissimilarity of having the best defense against the run. Expectations are high regarding how Tomlin will lead the Steelers in future games.

The second weapon that the Steelers have is a player called Ben Roethlisberger. Often referred to as Big Ben, he was named Rookie of the Year in 2005. But he's probably best remembered for foremost the Steelers to a Super Bowl win, becoming the youngest quarterback to win the Super Bowl in Nfl history. Roethlisberger is getting back into gear after his 2006 urgency and seems to be in top-notch comeback form. In 2007, he was also named to his first Pro Bowl.

The whole football world is expecting big things from Big Ben, Tomlin and the rest of the team. All eyes are on the Steelers to show some of their magic on the field.
