Update On The Border Shooting

Here is a quick bit of info to update everyone on the border shootings of the BP Agents. Seems the cartel shot these Agents in retaliation for a drug bust make the week before. Three cartel hit men came into the country knowingly tripping a ground sensor and then they laid in ambush for the Agents. Most likely one hit man had a rifle and the other two had handguns. Three BP Agents arrived on horseback and they were fired upon. Two were hit, one Agent died. The hit men then fled back across the border.
The problem is that these Agents go out into the field with night vision devices mostly. While that is better than nothing, if someone is waiting for you in the night, you will not see him. With night vision everything looks green through the viewer. If there is movement you will spot it quickly most of the time, but if there is an ambush waiting to be sprung upon you, you will not notice until it is too late. BP Agents should be in the field with a thermal viewer like the FLIR PS32. I use this model on the border and NO ONE will go undetected if they are waiting for me within five hundred yards of me. The best thing about a thermal viewer like that is it is the same price, sometimes even cheaper, then the NVGs the bP is using now.

Border Patrol Agent Shot and Killed, Another Wounded!

Last night a U.S. Border Patrol Agent was shot and killed with another Agent wounded in a shooting near Naco, AZ. Just last week our group worked an area just west of where these Agents were shot. The second Agent has non life threatening wounds and is expected to survive. You can read the Fox news story http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/10/02/2-us-border-agents-shot-1-killed-near-major-drug-cooridor-in-arizona/ which mentions that two weapons recovered at the scene were linked to a smuggling operation involved with the Fast and Furious program. Not really sure how they could make that link so fast since this just happened last night.
Keep in mind that Border Patrol is a law enforcement organization fighting a problem that only has a military solution. Some agents do come in to the Border patrol form the military but the majority of them do not. I have seen Agents walk in the field like they were in a mall. They have very little situational awareness and, while pretty good at tracking illegals, have no experience in detecting prime ambush areas and walk into these traps from time to time. Sadly, nothing will change in the future as neither political party wants to do anything of substance to secure our borders.

Exciting Day at the FOB!

Today started out with a trip into indian country to check on some trails. One of the trails however is quite different from the rest. This particular trail is used mainly by drug traffickers both to bring drugs into the country and to bring money from the sale of the drugs back into Mexico. This is a very dangerous trail to watch because you have to watch it in two directions, north and south. We saw evidence of it's use within the last 48 hours however. Also, the do gooder human border groups were out today putting fresh one gallon water jugs on the trails for the illegals and traffickers. They also have nice welcome wagon type messages on them welcoming them and warning them about groups like ours that are out to stop them. These morons would rather welcome law breakers than help secure the nation. Just pathetic! We spotted three separate water drops, one from just an hour or so before we got to this particular trail and other water drops that look a few days old. We gathered our intel on this trail and headed back in to camp to resupply and get ready for night.
The sun set and we were ready for whatever the traffickers had to throw at us. At least we thought that. They decided to throw a curveball when we were expecting a fastball. As we sat around waiting for traffic to start, Mexico decided to erupt in gunfire. Shots were being fired sporadically about a half mile south of us. After it died down, there was one lone gunshot. Guess someone had a very, very bad day down there. After things quieted down, border patrol checked the border fence up and back, then pulling into a set up spot across the street from our FOB(Forward Operating Base), the base owner decided to go have a chat with the agent to get some intel. While talking with the agent, an illegal decided for some strange unknown reason to come out of the brush and poke his head around the back of the vehicle. Both agent and fob owner were stunned and laughing at this illegal clown who actually was high on something as the agent took the illegal into custody. Turns out there were seven more out in the brush that had to be found. Once the fob owner came and got us we broke brush and looked with two additional border patrol agents that had responded for the call for backup. However, as of this writing, they are still not located but it is still over forty miles to the first main highway. Lots of agents and camera towers they will still have to avoid.

Border Traffic Pushed East

Well didn't take long for us to alter the crossing patterns of the bad guys. As it got dark last night, we noticed a strange silence coming from across the border. No vehicles driving, no dogs barking. Weird. Usually as soon as the night comes there is a beehive of activity involving cars, trucks and motorbikes. However, this was not the case last night. We finally talked to a border patrol agent who told us traffic was moving east of us. They had eyes on a group of 30+ out in the mountains. Seems the spotters out in the hills for these smuggling operations are doing their jobs quite well by keeping an eye on our base of operations. Oh well, the fight goes on.

FINAL TALLY FOR OUR LATEST BORDER OP!

Conducting border operations as a volunteer is more than just putting on cool, kick ass equipment, grabbing a rifle and going out into the desert looking for trouble. You need to be able to take what you learn while on the border and pass it along to people in your communities to help spread the word about what is really going on at the border. Best way to do that is to talk to locals and Border Patrol Agents which is the best human intelligence (HUMINT) there is. This particular operation we had a journalist from a popular magazine with us for the first half of the operation. Our goal was to show him the gaps in security coverage in areas of the border. We believe we were successful in this mission judging from some of the comments he made to us. Two gaps that we proved were the easy way to sneak by the SBINet (Boeing made) towers that are in the desert. Even with powerful night vision and thermal cameras on them, they are rendered useless when you walk in a wash or gully and have plenty of tree top coverage which those cameras cannot penetrate. The second gap in security is the fact that BP does shift changes at the same times EVERY DAY!! Well guess who knows exactly when this is? The bad guys!!! During shift changes we went out to show the reporter that there is a good 3 to 4 hour coverage gap in certain areas of the border. This is ridiculous in my eyes. BP should be altering their shift changes every day or every week of every year. So I think we proved to the reporter that border security is not all that the pea brained Janet Napolitano says it is. When we conduct operations, we try to have new individuals come and participate also. We train them while we conduct operations so they get good hardcore on the job training. There were a few first timers out this time. Some completely new to the border watch game and some who while not new to it, were new to the terrain we work. This terrain is the closest you will get to the mountains of Afghanistan that there is. Some military units have even come down to train there before being deployed to Afghanistan. So all in all it was a great week full of dedicated Americans who spend their own time and money to watch out for this country. I couldn't be prouder of these dedicated souls. Here are the tallies for the week.

1 illegal rescued who had maybe 24 hours to live. He was lost in the desert for 3 days in plus 100 temps.
2 drug cartel spotters captured on their way to their OP.
A total of 89 illegals apprehended in 4 separate groups that we had detected.

Latest word from a source that has friends on both sides of the border is that we definitely pissed off some bad guys in Mexico. Too bad! Will post pics and vids soon.

How The Battle Is Fought Here

The mission the other night was clear. Keep a main smuggler trail under surveillance for drug or human smuggling trafficking. Getting to the operations area was hard. You needed to go up and over three steep hills at an incline of about thirty-five degrees. Not easy if you are not used to it. Especially not easy when you are carrying a vest and a pack. Luckily a storm came in and knocked the heat down about twenty degrees or so. Bad side of that is lightning and slick slopes to worry about. Well we made it too the op area in one piece, after having to dodge a few rattlesnakes and cattle to get there. However, our luck turned shitty before we even got there as our scanner picked up mexican radio traffic which could only mean one thing, we were spotted by cartel lookouts. Oh well, on with the mission as our pickup was not for another fifteen hours. We set up a team on either side of the trail on elevated ground and waited. I used my FLIR PS32 thermal camera to be able to spot traffic and tell if it was a drug load or human smuggling load coming through. We were dumped on by different storms coming through but no traffic. As daybreak, we formed up and headed out to check the spotter location. We hiked it to the base of the hill the shack was on that the cartels use. Packs were dropped and the team headed up to check out the shack. I stayed with the packs as rear security. After about five minutes I spot two individuals coming out of a wash in a valley below me. They immediately start climbing the trail to get to their OP. I radio our team already up there to set up and wait. At this point I am on my belly as our gear was dropped in a semi open area and did not want to spook the spotters. As they walked up the trail, they took a break for about twenty minutes under a mesquite tree which obscured my view of them but not of one of our team. Once they got rolling again, we got ready to spring the trap. After a few minutes, the call came across the radio that the trap was sprung and the cartel spotters surrendered. We radioed our base and they called Border Patrol. BP asked us to bring the spotters out to meet them. All and all it was a good mission and everybody came out of it safe. More to follow.

Mexican Military Helicopter Crosses Into U.S.

While out checking a specific trail today we came across a single I.A. who had been lost in the desert for 3 days. Unfortunately, this happened during Border Patrol shift change so we knew we would have to sit on him for a few hours. We left him with the vehicle security members and continued on with the mission. While patrolling the designated trail, we happened to hear, but not see, a helicopter. We assumed it was U.S. law enforcement as we had seen one of ours earlier. However, because our trail was low into the canyon, we could not see it. After locating our mission objective, we headed back to the vehicles and loaded up to find Border Patrol. About forty-five minutes later we had 3 B.P. vehicles coming our way. We turned over the I.A. to them and they asked if we had seen the mexican helicopter that invaded U.S. airspace. We told them that we heard it but had not seen it. Apparently they were out looking for it when they rolled up on us. Tally for the day is one lucky I.A. turned over to B.P. He was no more than a day or two from being toast! Tonight we pull an all nighter!

Performing Escort Duty For The Press!

Since today is Day 1 of our op, we are still waiting for team members to roll into town. So it was a good time to bring the reporter from Rolling Stone magazine to a known hotspot in the mountains. Nailer was the guide while I provided security. And it was a hot one today, over one hundred degrees. I even felt like I was coming down with heat exhaustion so I had to hold in place and cool my body down so as not to become a heat casualty. It happens fast out here. Shown to the reporter was Sinaloa Cartel and arabic graffiti at the border near some known cartel spotter locations. Also pointed out was the lack of a BP presence in this area during their shift change which the cartel have intimate knowledge of. Another problem with border security in this area is the fact that even though there are towers posted with multiple cameras (thermal, night vision), there are plenty of gullies and washes that one can walk through with little chance of being spotted by these towers. Between shifts there can be hours of a lack of a physical presence in this area. As good as BP operates, they can not be everywhere at once. Even if these towers detect traffic, it would take hours for BP to drive in and pick up the trail. And if no BP help is in the area to assist, this traffic might never be found. Remember, BP readily admits that for every one illegal caught, three get away. We believe the actual number is more like four or five. After a couple hours on the mountain, and the reporter happy with the trek, we returned to base to rest and get ready for tonight. More later!

Our scouts tell me the border fire I reported on yesterday west of Altar Valley is extinguished. Border Patrol sources tell our scouts it was the work of smugglers. Most likely as a diversion to illegal smuggling activity. And the game continues!

Fresh Border Fire In Arizona

One of our team scouts reports a fresh border fire most likely on the Tohono O'odham reservation just west of the Altar Valley. Smoke can be seen over the western peaks of the Baboqvari mountains. The T.O. is a major smuggling hub for illegal aliens and drug cartels.

Border Operation Completed

Our first border op of the new year was completed yesterday. Overall I would say it was a success but not without conflict, complications, shortages of necessary vehicles, equipment and the usual last minute cancellations of individuals who swore they were going to make it. Always makes me wonder how the men of the Revolutionary Era succeeded in their mission to form a new country when I cannot even field a squad sized unit. Well they did not have cable tv back then. Times are tough for all of us but you people who sit on the fence need to reach down and grab a pair and put your money where your mouth is.

We scouted one of our known cartel spotter locations and found fresh trash indicating recent use.

You can see the fresh trash and commanding view for these spotters in the pics. Up to five miles in every direction to redirect a drug load if law enforcement is in the area.

The local populace gave us fresh intel of a new pick up spot where illegals drop their packs and load up into the vehicle to be driven to the next leg of their journey. Here is some of the intel we came across.

Sometimes valuable intel will be recovered in the way of cell phones, notebooks or ledgers detailing the smuggling orgs. systems, etc.

While conducting a training mission for our new members, we suddenly came across a lone illegal walking a trail north. Once he realized he was spotted he sat down and he talked with one of our members. We learned he was a former cop in Mexico but quit after getting shot by the cartel. He did not specify which cartel. He also mentioned he has been coming back and forth from Mexico for 6 years and did not think it was a big deal. Most Mexicans do not respect the border of the United States. It is taught in their schools that the US stole land from Mexico and they have every right to come and go as they please.

As we had to wait for 4 hours for Border Patrol to show up to collect this illegal, night came with a steady drizzle and drop in temperature. We supplied the illegal with food and water as well as an emergency blanket to ensure hypothermia would not be a problem.

We were limited in our ability to fully conduct operations because of a shortage of vehicles. We are in need of donations so that we may purchase a couple of used vehicles capable of bringing us further into the field to expand our operating area. With our scouts walking to some spots, it eats up valuable observation time as it takes longer to get to these spots.
The one area that we are having little to no trouble in is with our communications. We have a dedicated comms vehicle complete with the ability to cover all of our operators in the field.

We hope to have some supply and equipment issues resolved by the next border operation. We greatly depend on the public for assistance in attaining these goals however. I personally would like to thank those of you who have donated to us to help defray some of the operating costs. Enough money was raised to pay for the two trailers we rented to house our operators as well as pay for most of the gas we used for this op. We greatly appreciate the support from the American public as well.

Border Op Update

Our op area has a major BP presence due to increase traffic of both drugs and illegals in it. This has limited our usefulness in aiding in apprehending as we like to stay out of BP's way. We have adjusted our op to include collecting up to date intel of known spotter locations and new pick up points that the local residents have given to us. Will publish pics as soon as possible.

Border Operation Set To Commence In 2 Days!

Our first operation of the new year is set to commence in just two days. We will be providing security for a rancher, his family and his employees by keeping watch from the high ground and monitoring any illegal activity we spot. We will aid law enforcement by reporting this activity in great detail, providing gps locations and tracking the illegal activity. We will keep eyes on the activity both day and night with the use of binoculars, night vision and thermal viewer devices. I will report here on the blog anything we come across with hopes of providing you with photo and video evidence that our fearless DHS Secretary is out of her mind when she says our border is secure.

While our scout team was reconning locations today for our upcoming January operation in Arizona, they came across five illegal aliens and brought Border Patrol in to arrest the illegals. It was then discovered that they were part of a larger group of 50. Our scouts worked for hours with Border Patrol and proceeded to pick up more of the illegals. The rest scattered across the valley and no doubt will be spending the night cold and disoriented and give up at the first chance they get. Pics will be posted when I receive them!!

Our scouts helped Border Patrol get about half of that group of 50. One of our scouts is back in the field now to round up more.

Obama To Reduce National Guard Presence On Border!

Sickening!! At a time when drug trafficking and drug seizures are at an all time high on the border. At a time when the Mexican drug wars rage on and a time when it has been proven that Hezbollah operatives are in Mexico. Our wonderful President decides to greatly reduce the presence of national Guard at the southern border to only a few from the twelve hundred that are there now. story here. Reasons for this include budgetary concerns as well as the old bs about arrests being at a 40 year low. Well when the Agents are instructed not to arrest, then yes the numbers will fall dramatically. Also, Agents made 327,000 arrests in fiscal year 2010. But the Border patrol says for every one they catch three get away. Numbers are actually more like four or five get away. That means over a million made it safely into the country. So why exactly are troops being pulled away from the border? For the latino vote. Politics, plain and simple.
Well our border volunteer group WILL be on the border. We will be conducting border operations every month and the more money that is donated to us and the more people sign up to volunteer with us means more manpower on the ground. If you are as mad as I am about this, please help us any way possible. We will not give up!

GAO Report Shows Most Border Fires Started By Illegals And Drug Traffickers

Here is a report from the Government Accountability Office on wildfires in Arizona between 2006 to 2010. This past 2011 fire season is not included. Border Patrol sources tell me the bulk of the fires on the AZ/Mex border this season were started by illegal aliens and drug cartels. Some of those fires were actually started in Mexico right on the border with the distinct intention of using it as a diversion to smuggle illegals and drugs into the country. Announcing the Volunteer FARSAP program.

Americans,

I am proud to announce the start a new volunteer program called FARSAP (Farmers and Ranchers Security Assistance Program). Under this program, any rancher or farmer who would like security assistance for his property can get it from our border group. Our group is made up of patriotic former military and law enforcement individuals who believe that since the federal government will not do it's job, us American citizens will! We have ranchers and farmers who are being intimidated and in some cases forced off of their properties, some of which have been in their families since the mid 1800s. These Americans should not be forced to wear body armor, as one federal agent suggested, as they work their fields. Basically, the feds have given up. We haven't! We believe with cooperation between farmers, ranchers and security personnel, a solution can be found.
Since 2005, volunteer border watchers have proven that all it takes to secure a border is boots on the ground. I have personally helped in the apprehension of groups one night, then had no activity the rest of the operation due to smugglers using other routes. This proves that when you have people on site and actively patrol your operation area, smugglers will stay away. We have worked many ranchers properties where illegal activity dropped to near zero levels depending on the size of our security force and the size of the property in question.
The more properties ranchers and farmers lose mean family history that is lost. It also means our food producing systems in this country get tighter and tighter and prices go up. We are looking to stop these problems by offering trained security personnel for those ranchers and farmers who want it. Volunteer Border Operations Organizing Now

Open letter to the American public,

When you think back to the founding of this great nation, you need to realize that for every man who fought in the Revolution, there were many more times that who supported him both financially and material wise. Without that sense of giving and unselfishness, the Revolution would of been in more dire straits than it was. America succeeds because Americans are good, decent giving people. It's in that tradition that I ask you to help us fund our operations.
Nothing sickens me more than to ask for monetary and material help at this time of year with this type of economy. However, in planning the 2012 ops, I have had more members tell me they probably could not come anymore due to the cost of airline tickets and gas. These are combat vets for the most part who are vital to the success of our operations. So I regretfully ask you to donate whatever you can. Actually, we could use donated air miles the most. We all pretty much have our own gear but it is the cost of travel and lodging that kills us. When I started doing ops in 2005 a plane ticket was $220 round trip. Now, it is anywhere from $500 to $600. Insane! But there are ranchers who need our help, who ask for our help.

Zetas drug cartel active in the U.S. DESPITE what DHS Secretary Napolitano says!

Ever since DHS Secretary Napolitano was appointed to her position, she has boasted about how the southern border is quote, "more secure than ever". Many of us are not sure what southern border she is talking about but sane Americans know she is not talking about the U.S. southern border. The FBI, as well as other federal agencies, has said that the drug cartels from Mexico in many ways present more of a security threat to the U.S. than islamic extremists do. How can federal agencies contradict each other like that? The answer is simple, politics! Napolitano must do what her handlers tell her to do and that is spouting out how more illegals have been deported under Obama than any other President. A blatant lie! And how Customs and the U.S. Border Patrol have operational control of most of that border. A blatant lie! Also, how cartel violence has NOT spilled over the border into the U.S. Another blatant lie! Just these past two weeks have showed that everything Nappy is saying about the cartels not being a danger to us citizens is false! Here is one story on the Chicago area Zetas take down last week. There is a quote from Nappy in the link about her warning to the cartels to not bring their violence over here. Well it was here before you took the job Nappy. In fact, the cartels operate and supply drugs to over 2500 cities and towns across the U.S. This story reports of a shootout in Houston just this week involving the Zetas and most likely another cartel. A Sheriffs Deputy was wounded in the shootout but it is unclear whether he was shot by the assailants or the victim of friendly fire in the confusion. Here is a pic of just some of the pot our border group has caught. Yeah, seems like a secure border all right if just average everyday Americans can roam the desert 30+ miles north of the border and come across this.

Spillover violence from Mexican drug cartels is here and here to stay until we have a federal government willing to clamp down and secure our southern border. But due to political correctness and the government not wanting to offend Mexico, we will see increased violence in the U.S. for the foreseeable future. Local and state law enforcement have had to pretty much go it alone in combating this problem with little funding or help from the inept feds. Unfortunately, more American citizens, especially our law enforcement, will become victims in this war!

Obama Ordered Border Patrol NOT to Check Buses, Trains at Northern Border!

This failure of a President is doing everything possible to see to it that illegal aliens and terrorists from everywhere in the world get a free pass into America. In the latest example, he has ordered the US Border Patrol to stop checking buses and trains entering the US from Canada for illegal aliens. As word of this gets out, not only illegals but also terrorists will use this gap in security to infiltrate America and wreak havoc and destruction upon it's citizens. Story here.
Now we have Border Patrol Agents who are sitting around in vehicles watching empty fields and doing crossword puzzles! We have one year to go to remove this scumbag President and turn this ship around.

FEDS IGNORING SHERIFFS COUNTY POWERS!

Disturbing incident in Hereford, AZ this week that should scare us all. Basically, the story is of the FBI assuming control of an investigation near the border, using Border Patrol as their henchmen, keeping the highest law in a county, the sheriff, from investing a crime in his county. Link here

Little by little the feds are taking powers away from states and county sheriffs. Sheriff Dever put his foot down and said 'This will not happen again". TIme to posse up if you are in that county!
