American Idol Judge Has A Familiar Face!

American Idol will have a familiar face in January 2014!!!

Yes! Keith Urban will be back for another season! He is the only American Idol judge that didn't get the axe, and I'm excited!

Fox network president Kevin Reilly confirmed the news on Monday.

Jennifer Hudson has signed on to be at the American Idol judges table, so who will be the third?

Kevin couldn't confirm anything other than they are in talks with Jennifer Lopez.

Earlier rumors for the judging panel included Kelly Clarkson, Adam Lambert, and Clay Aiken. So far, these are just rumors.

American Idol This Is What We Know

So far, this is what we know of the American Idol shake up.

Idol judges Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Nicki Minaj are definitely out. Keith Urban says he knows nothing on his fate.

American Idol producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick are also out.

We know American Idol is cleaning house and hiring new faces.

Jennifer Hudson is definitely on-board as an Idol judge. Rumors state Adam Lambert is a consideration, but Adam says he has not been approached. However, Adam also says he would be very willing to sit on the Idol judges panel.

Another rumor states Jennifer Lopez is in the running, as Ryan Seacrest had a secret meeting with her. However, J'Lo sources say she has no intention of becoming an Idol judge again.

We also know Per Blankens has replaced Idol producers Nigel and Ken. Per Blankens is the producer of the Swedish version of Idol.

So, we have one American Idol judge and one producer. We still need 2 more to sit at the judges table.

I really hope Adam Lambert fills one of those chairs, as I think he could bring some humor to the show.

There's still work to be done, but it has definitely been an American Idol shakeup!!

We know American Idol will be shaking things up for season 13.

Current Idol judges, Randy, Nicki, Mariah, and Keith Urban won't be asked to come back.

So what are the American Idol honchos thinking?

It's rumored that Idol will be going back to a 3 judge format. Thank goodness!

It's also rumored that former American Idol winners and contestants are in the running for the judges panel.

Nothing is set in stone, but the rumors are, Idol winner Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson are 95% set to join the Idol judges panel.

Clay Aiken and Adam Lambert are in the running to fill the 3rd seat.

What do you think? Can American Idol make a comeback using former Idol winners and contestants as judges?

Kellie Pickler from season 5 of American Idol wins it all on Dancing With The Stars!

She was one of my favorites on Idol, and she was also a favorite of millions on DWTS.

It's all come down to this! The American Idol Finale, and I'm so excited!!

Our Idol top 10 starts the show with Done, and they are fantastic!

The Band Perry is bringing the energy! And our own American Idol Janelle joins them!! Awesome performance!!! Complete with fire!

This is hilarious! The guys are saying they were sabotaged by the girls, and we're watching just "how" the girls sabotaged them. hahahhaha   Janelle changed the notes on Lazaro's music sheet. Candice stole Burnell's lunch money so he was hungry. LOL

The top 5 guys are singing and with the dance moves, they remind me of the Jackson 5. LOL

And Frankie Valli comes out singing!! Whoo Hoooo!!!!!   WOW!!!

Mariah Carey is in white singing a few tunes. The only one I recognize is Hero. She prerecorded this last night.

Amber Holcomb is performing Next To Me. Emeli Sande joins her on stage!!! Although Amber doesn't look like she cares too much. I wonder if the rumor is true that she's upset she didn't get a "bigger" name star.

Psy is performing Gentleman. Of course he's doing his dance. LOL

Keith Urban and his band takes the stage. Man, it's a Country night! He's so cute. lol

Candice takes the stage singing Inseparable. Jennifer Hudson joins her!! The Idol judges are getting right into this! These 2 sound great together!!

Angie takes the stage. Back at the piano. And lookie there! Adam Lambert joins her! Singing Titanium and they sound fantastic together!

Next up is Angie's Idol! Jessie J!!! Jessie J just told Angie she will fly her to the UK and they will sing Angie's single together on stage!!!

Kree is singing Keith Urban's song Where The Blacktop Ends. And Randy is playing bass! Travis Barker, Blink 182 is on the drums!

We take a moment to say goodbye to Randy Jackson. We go to the Dawg Headquarters, where 6 dogs are sitting around a conference table honoring Randy. lol We see some old clips of Randy while You Had A Bad Day plays in the background.

Ryan tells him the door is always open at American Idol. Awww

Aretha Franklin is on the big screen video calling in from New York. And the top 5 girls will be singing with her. This is so cool!!!   What a legend.

No Decision Made About The Fate Of The American Idol Judges?

So axing the entire American Idol judges panel has yet to be decided?

What?

This is what EOnline.com is reporting:

Fox chairman of Entertainment Kevin Reilly insisted that no decision has been made and that Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban are "welcome back, absolutely" for next season.

He did confirm however, that Randy Jackson will not be returning.

Reilly goes on to say that everthing is on the table, including going back to a 3 judging panel. I personally think that's a smart move on American Idol's part. It needs to go back to the basics.

What do you think? Is it a bonehead move to keep the current 3 American Idol judges? I do.

American Idol will again have 3 themes for the Idol girls at the finale.

Candice and Kree will go head to head in the finale, after a shocking results show last night which sent Angie packing.

Ok, the themes are:

Simon Fuller's Choice
Coronation Singles*
Reprisals (Favorite Performances)

*Coronation Singles are usually songs given to the American Idol Finale contestants, which will turn into "their" first radio song.

This year however, the Idol producers might assign songs that the Idol contestants helped write!

According to EOnline.com, Randy Jackson has made a statement that he is leaving American Idol.

With all the talk about an American Idol shakeup, I guess Randy is getting out before getting the axe!

Randy made a statement regarding his exit:

"Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season," he says. "I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It's been a life changing opportunity but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures."

Earlier reports also state that Mariah Carey has dumped Randy Jackson as her manager.

So, it looks like we are going to get a whole new set of Idol judges. The problem is, will they just get the big stars who know nothing about judging?

Kree is up first and Jimmy chose Perfect for her song. She's pretty much just standing there singing. Not putting much effort into the song. She has a great voice, but no wow factor here. Not surprising, she's a Country girl.

Keith -that song didn't fit because you are a Country girl.
Nicki - the quality of your voice is always filled with quality. It felt short to me.
Randy - I didn't love that song for you. You just settled in; there wasn't any pizzaz.
Mariah - interesting song choice. You could have gone further with it.

Candice will perform Jimmy's song choice, One. I'm not familiar with the song, but she's pretty much rockin' it out. She has great stage presence. She doesn't stand there all stiff. Beautiful voice.

Angie will sing Jimmy's song choice, Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word and she's not at the piano. Surprising, as this is a perfect song for the piano. Great voice, but it's annoying how she enunciates the words so much. Sounds like she's straining again.

Keith - I would have been happy if you would have held back a little more.
Nicki - Stellar vocal, but it didn't hit me emotionally.
Randy - it's such a set up for a piano, I'm not sure why you didn't play at the piano. I liked it.
Mariah - I thought you'd be behind the piano. I thought this was one of the best performances from you.

American Idol Considering These Ridiculous 4 As New Judges!

I'll be the first to admit American Idol needs some serious revamping. But my gosh, not the kind Nigel is thinking about.

Radar Online is reporting that Nigel is scrambling to shake things up on American Idol, and that includes replacing ALL 4 Idol judges next season.

Here are his ridiculous choices. Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Pink, and Sean "Diddy" Combs.

First of all, Justin is annoying, self-centered, and a diva. Selena is okay, but awfully young. Pink would be another Simon, but not sure about her tact. Sean is just plain boring!

American Idol needs qualified judges with great chemistry. I miss the days of Simon, Paula, and Randy.

How would Justin, Selena, Pink, and Diddy have great chemistry?

Nigel claims he wants "big names" on the judges panel. Well, Mariah is a big name, but what did she contribute to the show?

I'm thinking now that not only do we need new judges, but we also need new American Idol producers!!

Give me your thoughts. What do you think of the possible new American Idol judges?

I'm not sure how the songs were decided on. The Idol judges chose one for each contestant, Jimmy Iovine chose one for each, and one is free choice. Well, free as in the American Idol producers give them select songs to choose.

Are The American Idol Themes This Week A Setup?

American Idol themes have been revealed, but is this a good thing or a setup?

The themes for our Idol contestants consist of three songs chosen by:

Jimmy Iovine
The Idol Judges
Free choice

I'm questioning whether the songs chosen by Jimmy and the Idol judges could just be another way to sway the vote.

For instance, Jimmy has mentioned that he just doesn't get the hype over Kree. Would he be devious enough to choose a song that's not suited for her?

The Idol judges seem like they want Angie to win. So will Candice and Kree get the short end of the song choice stick?

Free choice seems to be a good bet, but again, the girls get a limited number of songs to choose from. Free choice should probably read: American Idol producers choice.

What do you think? Is this just another way to sway the votes? What would you do to revamp American Idol?

Where Is American Idol Contestant Charlie Askew Now?

You remember American Idol contestant Charlie Askew, right?

Charlie was the quirky, wearing his heart on his sleeve Idol contestant.

He never made it to the top 10, but he was entertaining.

Charlie always said he was socially inept, but music really helped.

After his "Rocket Man" performance, Keith Urban said, it's like if Freddie Mercury had a love-child out of Woodstock. LOL

Did I mention he was quirky?

American Idol Producers Approached Harry Connick, Jr As Idol Judge!

E! Online is reporting that the American Idol producers approached Harry Connick, Jr to be on the Idol judges panel next year!

Wouldn't that be great? If they replace the other judges, American Idol just might make a comeback!

Earlier I asked, "Who would be on your ideal American Idol judges panel?", but I totally forgot about Harry! He's a great mentor and I think he'd make an excellent judge!!

A surprising twist on American Idol results last week, because the Idol judges didn't use their save this season, keeping all 4 Idol contestants in the running.

Angie will sing Diamonds. She tells Harry she is doing a very different version. Back at the piano. So far so good. I don't see much of a different version here. I still hear her straining and screaming when she sings.

Keith - I love that song. I commend you for doing your own version, but you didn't just let go with it.
Nicki - this seemed different from any other of your piano performances. Your heart wasn't in it. It was bland and lackluster.
Randy - great song. The song doesn't support changing arrangements. I do like the leather shorts.
Mariah - you were playing to the camera more than getting lost in the moment.

Angie chose Someone to Watch Over Me. Harry thinks it's the perfect song choice. She put a lick in one of her notes and he didn't like it. It's a very slow song and it seems she's singing even slower. Yawn.

Keith -   asked why did she pick that song. Her mom always used to sing it to her. Very old song, but you did sing it beautifully.
Nicki -   you put me in the mind of a Disney Princess. I can see you on Broadway.
Randy -   I did not love the arrangement in the middle. It was confusing. This girl can sing.
Mariah - my mom is in the house. Some moments were beautiful. Then she takes a jab at Nicki.

Amber chose Just Give Me a Reason. Harry thinks she's a sweet girl. I agree! She has such an incredible voice and she's always so bubbly. She always hits every note and she doesn't sound like she's straining at all. Incredible.

Keith -   I love the clarity and the bell in your voice time and time again. Fantastic.
Nicki -   I wasn't very connected to this performance.
Randy -   the video footage was better because you were carefree and fun.
Mariah - we need to see that confident Amber.

Amber chose My Funny Valentine. Again. I really don't care for repeat performances. It usually shows us nothing different. Harry helped her figure out what the song meant. He was impressed how she handled his critiquing. I think it worked. She's connecting with the song. Standing O from the judges!

Keith - your performance was stellar!
Nicki - that was so beautiful. Great job!
Randy - you made a believer out of a lot of people tonight. Unbelievable! Be proud! Stellar!
Mariah - tonight that spirit was there bigger and better before.

Candice will perform When I Was Your Man. Love Bruno Mars!! Harry feels Candice will be successful. I love how rich and soulful her voice is, it's incredible. It really feels like she's telling a story with this song. Awesome!

Keith - you can sing when I was your giraffe, it doesn't matter. That was a winning performance!
Nicki - the performance deserved a standing O! So they did! You gave me everything!
Randy - if you can sing, you can sing anything! That's how you sing a song! Amazing!
Mariah - Agrees with Randy.

Kree chose See You Again, for the 2nd time on the Idol stage. Harry says to not change a note. I'm never impressed when the Idol contestants sing a song more than once. Especially since nothing changed from the first time.

Keith -   I didn't connect at all. It was a power ballad, and you were sitting with a guitarist, so I couldn't connect.
Nicki -   I loved my Kreedom performance. You sang with your eyes.
Randy -   you got an amazing voice. That was a great vocal.
Mariah - you were very connected at the beginning of the song.

Kree will perform Stormy Weather. Harry wants her to drop the licks and sing it naturally. What is it with all the older songs? Yuck! I'm not connecting with this performance at all. She doesn't believe in the song.

Keith -   I would have chosen a different song.
Nicki -   I wish you would have paid more attention to song choice.
Randy -   you were disconnected with the song, the audience, us...
Mariah - I was interested in the song choice. It's been used over and over. Wrong song choice.

Amber, Kree, Candice and Angie will perform Wings after the break. Whoo Hoo, I'm lovin' this song!! They are so awesome together!

Who Would Be On Your Ideal American Idol Judges Panel?

Let's face it, American Idol has gone downhill. I blame this decline on Simon Cowell's departure.

He was honest, sometimes brutally honest, yet he really gave the Idol wannabes sound advice.

The judges for the past 2 years have not only refrained from giving good, honest advice, but they to some extent, mock the Idol wannabes. It's time for a clean sweep.

So, who would you choose to sit at the American Idol judges table?

I feel having 4 Idol judges is overkill and a waste of time. The producers should go back to basics, and stick with 3 judges.

To make it interesting, one of the 3 should have a sense of humor and bring excitement to the show to some extent.

Steven Tyler fit the bill for humor and excitement, but he didn't live up to the good, honest advice giving an American Idol judge requires.

Jennifer Lopez gave sound advice, but she could be too emotional and wish washy.

Nicki Minaj offers very honest advice, but maybe too technical for the average American Idol fan.

Mariah Carey is too full of herself and her accomplishments to really care for the Idol wannabes.

Randy Jackson has outstayed his welcome. What does "Yo, dog, you're in it to win it" have anything to do with judging?

Which brings me back to the question, who would be on your ideal American Idol Judges panel?

Sir Elton John would be an excellent American Idol judge in my opinion. He is one of the most successful artists who's not afraid to speak his mind. I feel he is also compassionate.

Phil Collins would be another asset to the Idol judge panel. He's also extremely talented and compassionate.

Reba McEntire would round out the table, bringing some Country background into the mix.

What are your thoughts? Could Elton John, Phil Collins, and Reba McEntire bring life to the dying American Idol show? Leave your thoughts in the comments!

American Idol Judge Keith Urban Pays Tribute To George Jones (Video)

Everyone is mourning the loss of a legend.

George Jones died Friday morning at the age of 81.

Many celebrities took to Twitter to pay tribute to George.

Our own American Idol judge Keith Urban paid a special tribute to the legend. Watch his heartfelt video tribute below:

Is The American Idol App Worth Downloading?

American Idol has an official app, but is it worth downloading?

Sounds like a great app, right? Well, it needs some work.

On the Google Play store alone, there are 1,393 votes. But the American Idol app is only rated 2.9 out of 5 as of this post. That means over half of those who downloaded the app, hate it.

I have downloaded it myself, and that rating is pretty accurate. It kind of stinks.

I downloaded the app just fine... no problems there. On the front screen it shows a Live Countdown to the next American Idol episode. Here, you can set a reminder to alert you when the show is on.

The major complaints about the American Idol app, is the menu is hard to find. I have a touch phone, so in order to find the menu, I have to swipe in from the top left .

The menu consists of:

Idol VIP Sweeps
News
Videos
Photos
Contestants
Sync To TV

Theoretically, you can sync to your TV while American Idol is on, and you can get real time updates. I did the sync, but I did not get any updated content.

I also tried other menu options with the same result... nothing updated.

Another complaint is in order to vote, you must sign into Facebook. I have a Facebook account, so it was rather easy to vote for my American Idol favorite.

The app is very slow and buggy, and freezes on occasions, having to be forced closed.

I think this is a great concept for the American Idol app, but it needs work.

American Idol Reveals The Surprising Twist!

Ryan Seacrest hinted on last night's American Idol episode that there will be a surprising twist to tonight's results show.

That's just a fancy way of telling America that they didn't plan their weeks properly, so now they have to fill a week before the finale.

One good thing about tonight's results show is we get to see American Idol winner of season 9, Lee Dewyze, and also Stefano Langone!!!

So, let's get on with the show!

The Idol 4 are performing Girl On Fire, by Alicia Keys.

Now we're playing the 5 things in 20 seconds game. The Idols have to name 5 things no one knows about them in 20 seconds:

Angie: hates the color pink, lives in heals all the time, loves to eat olives like popcorn.
Candice: loves spongebob squarepants, can't sleep without socks, loves Drake, loves purple.
Kree: been bitten by a snake, loves rap, I suck. lol
Amber: likes showers not baths, likes 90° weather, on a drill team, neon green is favorite color, she has her septum pierced.

Stefano is performing his new song, Yes to Love, and he is as cute as ever!!! And I love this song!

Drake came out to surprise Candice, which got all the Idols excited! LOL

Lee DeWyze is back on the Idol stage singing Silver Lining. It's good to see Lee again, even if I didn't really care for his song.

Not quite sure what happened to my camera, but Lee is not performing in fire. lol
