Cell Towers Improve Emergency Response Times

This episode of Municipal Cell Tower Development was recorded on a
hands-free wireless phone while driving on a New Jersey county road
about 40 miles west of New York City.

The town of Randolph, NJ has multiple stealth cellular communications
sites integrated into their community. There are guyed cell towers,
several stealth flagpole (monopole) cell towers, high tension
electrical lattice cell sites, and a few stealth evergreen tree cell
sites.

The sites are located throughout this municipality and designed to
provide required coverage with minimal visual impact.

The result?

This municipality has a wireless network that is good for industry,
and good for the people who live there.

You will have to listen to this three minute Podcast to find out why a
world-class wireless telecommunication network improves the quality of
life and increases the level of public safety.

Does your town's municipal cell tower ordinance foster proper wireless development and integration beneficial to both its residents and industry?

You can reach Kevin Donohue and TSS Wireless at 845-359-5300.

Cell Towers, Industrial Development and Public Safety

In this, our 11th installment of our Podcast series, "American
Municipal Cell Tower Development", Kevin Donohue of TSS Wireless talks
about why cutting edge wireless telecom networks are required in
order for towns to attract corporate development.

The four most important basic physical aspects big industry looks at
when selecting a site are:

1. good roadways

2. access to railways

3. access to shipping ports

4. telecommunication infrastructure

Donohue also discusses safety and quality of life issues. Host Stu Bogdanoff also references industry sources who estimate that over
240,000 emergency (E-9-1-1) calls are made every day on cell phones in
the USA. At any given minute there are 166 calls placed on cell phones
seeking emergency assistance. Cell phones have become such an everyday
part of our culture and way of life, and they are here to stay. Cell tower technology saves lives.

If a municipality is trying to attract industry to bring jobs to the
community, having a world-class telecom network is as important as
having infrastructure such as roads and railways. This is where TSS
Wireless can assist municipalities in planning for the future.

Leasing Municipal Property For Wireless Use

In this installment of American Municipal Cell Tower Development,
Kevin Donohue, CEO of TSS Wireless elaborates on the benefits of leasing municipal properties and town owned land to the wireless industry.

Donohue discussed the financial benefits of well planned municipal
land use to improve cellular service as it relates to generating
revenue for towns and for attracting and retaining businesses with a
good wireless network.

Other benefits include the ability to properly deploy a site and limit
the proliferation of towers in areas towns do not want disturbed, and
finding creative ways to open up park lands with stealth cellular
sites being implemented without affecting the view shed.

Do you have questions about cell towers in your town? You can reach
wireless industry consultant Kevin Donohue with TSS Wireless in New
York at 845-359-5300, or send your cell tower questions to KD @
TSS-Wireless.com .

<itunes:summary>In this installment of American Municipal Cell Tower Development,
Kevin Donohue, CEO of TSS Wireless elaborates on the benefits of leasing municipal properties and town owned land to the wireless industry.

Cell Tower Industry: Failure To Communicate

In episode #8 in our Cell Tower Podcast Series, Kevin Donohue of
TSS-Wireless.com discusses how the wireless industry and cell phone
service carriers in general have failed in their land use efforts.

Phone companies had experience in building telecom networks but not in
doing grass-roots PR work. It's not a secret that cell phone companies
have done a terrible job in doing business with towns on the
local level. Instead they have been lobbying at the state and national
levels without reaching out properly to communities, resulting in
excessive cell tower opposition.

One of the major land use and zoning issues still faced by cellular
phone companies is picking the right site. A lot of trouble and
opposition could be avoided by using common sense and communicating
with town officials prior to submitting wireless application.
Unfortunately in many cases cell tower sites are still forced onto
municipalities, cellular companies are still failing to properly
communicate with local governments and getting the proper input during
site selection when that doesn't need to be the case in most
instances.

Does your municipality or village need to speak with a cell tower consulting company with almost two decades of wireless industry experience? You can reach TSS and Kevin Donohue in New York at 845-359-5300.

Wireless Telecom Act of 1996 and Cell Towers

Kevin Donohue of TSS-Wireless discusses the impact on communities of
the Federal Telecommunications Act of 1996 as it relates to cell
towers and wireless communications.

The FCC determined that the development of cellular technology and
development of an American wireless telecom network was as crucially
relevant to our modern society as were the development of essential
infrastructure like railway systems and roadways early last century.

Wireless carriers could no longer be turned down or turned away based
solely on health-related concerns. Many towns as a result turned to
the "NIMBY" approach and opposed and continue to oppose cellular tower
construction based on visual impact concerns.

TSS-Wireless can become an industry advocate for your town or
municipality to create a win-win scenario for both the community and
cellular service providers.

If your town or municipality has questions regarding land use or
zoning for cellular communications, wireless site construction or
expansion, cell tower ordinance reengineering or any other questions
pertaining to cell towers health concerns , public safety or cell
tower technology, please contact our wireless consulting firm at
845-359-5300.

Public Safety Benefits of Wireless Technology

What are the public safety benefits of cell towers and wireless technology? There are many benefits to having cell phones. You can dial 911 if you are reporting an emergency. However, if you are in a rural or remote area that has no cell towers, and you have no access to a land line, the inability to communicate can have severe consequences.

The recent tragic story of a San Francisco family getting lost in a remote West Coast area could have been a lot worse had it not been for the AT&T Wireless Engineers being able to assist local law enforcement in narrowing down the location of the cell phone signal picked up by the cell tower.

Kevin Donohue of TSS-Wireless.com discusses more about how this cellular tracking technology works, and the obvious benefits to public safety cellular towers can provide.

Wireless Industry Leasing Trends

Recent Wireless Leasing Trends...
Cell phone service providers are in business to make money. They
provide us a valuable service. Unfortunately over the past year we
have noticed a disturbing trend among some cell phone carriers.

Select wireless carriers have contracted third party vendors to send
out letters and contact private wireless landlords and municipalities
regarding their cell tower leases. The cellular companies have been
telling landlords through their vendors that they need to renegotiate
because the tower is "underperforming" and they want a reduced rental
or they will walk away from the property.

Because of recent wireless industry mergers, cell tower landlords have

been approached and often bullied into renegotiating their rents due
to "industry consolidation".

Property owners and municipalities experiencing difficulties with
cellular carriers should not hesitate to contact TSS-Wireless.com at
845-359-5300.

Cell Towers, Health Risks and You

This Podcast episode refers to an article carried yesterday by the Associated Press regarding a study in Denmark of a large number of cell phone users and the numbers who wound up getting cancer.

Kevin Donohue, CEO of TSS Wireless discusses the problem of the public's perception of the wireless telecommunications, the fears some people have, and the poor job the cellular carriers have historically done to properly educate the public.

TSS Wireless wants to inform municipalities that over the next decade, nearly 100,000 new cell towers will need to be constructed in the United States in addition to the 170,000 that already exist to meet the capacity needs of the booming wireless communication industry. Understanding the safety concerns people have and the actual health risks of using cellular technology will continue to be an uphill battle for cellular carriers unless they change their current PR strategy.

Improving Municipal Wireless Communication

TSS-Wireless can help cities, villages and rural municipalities
improve wireless communications and cellular reception through proper
cell tower development.

The wireless industry is booming. Compare today's cell phone's,
laptops, iPods, etc. to just five years ago if there is any doubt. All

of those new bells and whistles translate to a growing need for
additional cell tower sites to be built for additional capacity and
improved coverage.

Our aim is to educate town executives and planners to be equipped and
prepared to benefit from the growth of the wireless industry.

Proper wireless site selection, planning and development can be a
win-wing for the community as well as for the wireless service
providers.

With over 17 years of cell site development experience, TSS can assist
communities by providing turnkey, multi-faceted wireless services.

Experience shows us that:

• Cookie-cutter wireless ordinances which a staggering number of towns
have implemented just don't work.

• Wireless construction ordinances must be formulated to meet the
needs of the community being served.

• A grass-roots approach to creating a town's wireless ordinance works
best.

• A good wireless ordinance can benefit the town financially instead
of benefiting an absentee landlord.

• A strong wireless code can provide municipalities with a world class
telecommunication network that can stimulate business growth and
increase the municipal tax base.

• Benefit non-cell phone users as well as wireless customers through
improved 911 emergency services for police, fire and ambulance squads,
as well as municipal workers such as road crews and public works
departments.

How's the cellular phone service in your town?

him an email at KD @ TSS-Wireless.com for issues regarding municipal
