Soon, the Honda CR-V is going to run on a completely different type of gas.

Honda has plans to launch a hydrogen version of its bestseller by 2024.

The fuel cell in the compact SUV generates electricity using a combination of stored hydrogen, atmospheric oxygen, and water.

Honda’s Performance Manufacturing Center (Ohio) will supply the engine for the low-volume models. They also recently completed the production of the Acura NSX supercar.

Honda is one automaker that sees hydrogen vehicles as an alternative to battery-powered electrics. It had previously offered the fuel-cell Clarity for sale in California, but it ended that offer last year.

One of the main advantages hydrogen fuel cell vehicles has over battery-electrics, is that they can be refueled within a few minutes just like a gasoline-powered automobile. There are very few public stations available in the U.S. currently, and they tend to be concentrated in southern California.

Honda has not released any information about the electric driving range of the CRV or other specifications.

The all-new CR-V launched this fall with a 4-cylinder engine or a hybrid that achieves a combined fuel economy rating of up to 40 mpg.

Honda will launch the same-sized, all-electric Prologue SUV along with the fuel-cell CR-V in 2024. It’ll be built in the U.S. from the General Motors Ultium electrical vehicle platform.

While tech stocks have suffered a severe decline this year, some companies are faring worse than others. Exhibit A is software giant Salesforce.

Salesforce shares (CRM), have fallen 40% so far in 2022. This makes it the second-worst Dow performer, behind only Intel (INTC). Salesforce (CRM), however, has not performed as well as top cloud software competitors such as Microsoft (MSFT), SAP (SAP) in Germany and Oracle (ORCL).

Salesforce isn’t doing so badly. Salesforce reported sales growth of 22% over August last year, but it also reduced its revenue forecasts and profit estimates at that time.

Salesforce stated that it expects earnings per share to be between $1.20 and $1.21 this quarter, with sales of $7.82 billion-$7.83 billion. Analysts had expected earnings of $1.29 per share and revenues of almost $8.1 billion.

Salesforce, which is headed by Marc Benioff, and Bret Taylor, will make a comeback in 2023. Or will Wall Street continue to penalize the company as it absorbs and combines several costly acquisitions in the last few years?

Salesforce spent almost $50 billion to purchase MuleSoft, Tableau’s data visualization software leader, and Slack for workplace productivity. Salesforce spent approximately $28 billion on the Slack deal.

Salesforce will report its latest earnings on Wednesday, and investors will be able to see how these deals are going when it reports its results. Analysts predict that sales will rise 14% compared to last year, but profits will decrease slightly.

Amy Weaver, chief financial officer at Salesforce, admitted during a September analyst meeting that there have been “increased risks and uncertainties” over the past months. She stressed, however, that the demand for Salesforce’s software is strong.

The majority of Wall Street analysts are still bullish on Salesforce. Refinitiv data shows that 40 out of 50 analysts covering the company have a “buy” rating for the stock. The remaining 10 analysts have a “hold” rating. There are no “sell” recommendations.

The consensus price target for the stock, which is almost $216 per share, is 40% higher than the current levels.

Analysts will still be curious about the future of Slack as Salesforce’s owner. Microsoft has increased its competitive efforts against Slack by launching its Teams product.

According to a report by Daniel Morgan, Synovus Trust Company’s senior portfolio manager, “Microsoft Teams remains the gorilla in this room,” Morgan stated that Salesforce customers have been less responsive to Slack. “Mountains competition from Teams and rising pricing pressure create some headwinds.”

Sam Bankman-Fried was the founder of a now-bankrupt crypto empire. He is 30 years old and said that he never tried to commit fraud against anyone.

Bankman-Fried stated that “I made a lot of mistakes” during a virtual appearance at New York Times’ DealBook Summit. “There are many things I would do over and over again… I was shocked at what happened this month.”

Bankman-Fried resigned earlier in November as CEO of FTX, after it and dozens of affiliated companies filed for bankruptcy. This was one of the largest corporate implosions ever. Bankman-Fried lost his multibillion-dollar fortune almost immediately. Crypto firms that have financial exposure to FTX are also starting to collapse.

Bankman-Fried’s crypto exchange platform FTX has been questioned about whether it misappropriated customer funds by making loans to Alameda, his hedge fund.

He said, “I didn’t intend to co-mingle fund funds.” “I was honestly surprised at how large Alameda was in his position.”

Bankman-Fried attempted to claim responsibility for the implosion at FTX during the interview. The bank experienced a run in November and collapsed quickly amid a liquidity crunch.

He said, “Look, I made a mistake.” “I was the CEO of FTX… I had a responsibility.”

Bankman-Fried admitted that there were no corporate controls or risk management in the businesses he managed. This issue was highlighted by FTX’s new CEO, who described it as a “complete failure” in bankruptcy court filings.

DealBook was told by Bankman-Fried that no one was in charge of the positional risk for customers on FTX. “And that feels embarrassing in retrospect.”

It is not clear yet how much, if any, FTX’s customers can recoup from the restructuring. Bankman-Fried suggested that Japan and the USA could be made whole. However, he did not provide details.

According to a source familiar with the matter, the federal prosecutors in New York’s Southern District are investigating the collapse of FTX. Authorities also have been contacted by authorities in the Bahamas where the companies were based. Several financial regulators were also in touch with the new management of FTX, which is led by restructuring experts who are charged with leading FTX through bankruptcy.

The lawyer for Bankman-Fried didn’t respond when asked.

After weeks of Bankman-Fried issuing a series of public apologies to the media and commenting on the demises of his companies, Bankman-Fried’s appearance at the DealBook Summit is a surprise. Legal experts are stunned.

Howard Fischer, a former lawyer at the Securities and Exchange Commission stated that SBF’s actions are a form of “litigation suicide”. “Everything he claims that is contradicted with admissible evidence will stand as evidence of deceit. I don’t know whether this is an indication of youthful arrogance, unrepentant arrogance, or sheer stupidity.

Bankman-Fried was asked Wednesday if his lawyers encouraged him to speak out.

He said, “They’re very not.” “And I mean, you all know the old advice. “Don’t say any, you know, retreat into a hole.”

He said, “I have a responsibility to explain what happened… I don’t see how it is possible for me to just sit in a locked room pretending that the outside world doesn’t exist.”

When he was asked about his wealth which was around $26 billion at its peak in the spring of this year, Bankman-Fried replied that he had given “everything” to FTX. Bankman-Fried stated that he had given “everything” (or some equivalent) to FTX and that he believes he has $100,000 or less in his bank account.

Do you think money and living in the moment are mutually exclusive? Do you feel guilty about eating out or drinking $7 oat milk lattes?

Conscious spending, a flexible approach to personal finance, doesn’t mean you have to feel or think this way.

Ramit Sethi, the author of “I Will Teach you to Be Rich”, and CEO of the eponymous website, said that a conscious spending plan is different from a budget that looks backward. Conscious spending means spending lavishly on things you love and cutting back on things you don’t. It’s not about restricting. It’s about making conscious money decisions and then spending your money on the things that you love guilt-free.

Sethi stated that this doesn’t negate the validity of some old-fashioned, general guidelines for savings, such as saving 5%-10% of your income and having a three to six-month emergency reserve.

A conscious spending plan will allow you to say “Yes, I want a vacation.” Yes, I love nice clothes. Yes, I will spend these items guilt-free. Sethi stated that she will also invest, save, and ensure my rent is covered.

This approach can be used immediately to help you save money, reduce debt, or just have more fun. Here’s how.

Rewiring your spending habits

Bradley Klontz, a financial psychologist who is also an associate professor of practice at Creighton University’s Heider College of Business, Omaha, Nebraska, stated that the term “conscious spending” implies that people have unconscious spending.

He said, “It’s almost like unconscious eating.” “We don’t have a plan, we don’t pay much attention to credit cards and we aren’t paying any attention.

To stop unconscious spending, it is important to ask yourself specific questions about your financial goals. What are my favorite things to spend money on? What amount do I need to pay for fixed expenses like rent and bills? What amount should I invest in savings and what should I save? What amount should I set aside to pay for impulse purchases or charges such as drinks with friends or parking tickets?

Klontz and Sethi advised that your answers should be clear. It is not possible to say that you want to be able to do whatever you want when you want. Imagine that you and your partner would like to travel to Italy, have extended legroom, stay for three weeks, and enjoy the sunset over Rome. Sethi stated that this vision is vivid, precise, emotional, and meaningful. “A spreadsheet that has numbers on it is not meaningful. “In truth, no one cares.”

These questions will help you feel excited and clear about your finances, identify the things you are less passionate about, and align with what is important to you. Klontz stated, “Then it’s much easier to cut out areas that don’t matter as much.”

These questions are what Sethi calls a “rich life.” Your life and financial goals are unique to you. They will not be influenced by anyone else’s.

One personal example: Recently, I decided to drink free instant coffee at work instead of buying expensive lattes every other day. Weekends are when I would allow myself to enjoy coffee shops with my friends.

This was because I needed more energy on weekdays and had to have more coffee on weekends. However, having more money meant that I could enjoy more coffee and spend more time at my favorite coffee shops. This allows me to get the best out of coffee drinking by consciously focusing my attention on what is most important to me and not restricting my coffee purchase.

You don’t need to be anxious, worried, confused, or guilty if you have already thought about the things you value. Sethi recalled that his family couldn’t afford to purchase appetizers when he was growing up. He said that one of his “money rules”, is to never question spending money on appetizers. “It gives me great joy being able to purchase any appetizer I see looks delicious.” “I don’t have to decide whether I should pay this amount. Or should I?

Try conscious spending for a month to see if it’s worth your while. Next, use your bank statements or a budgeting application to review the results and determine what worked.

It won’t work perfectly the first time. You’ll need to tweak it constantly, Sethi stated. You’ll eventually get a feel for the system and be able to make changes. Then, you can make each change every month.

House Democrats elected Hakeem Jeffries, New York’s caucus chair, to replace Nancy Pelosi as a leader for the Democrats in the chamber in next year. This historic decision will make Jeffries the first Black person in Congress to lead either of the major parties.

The House Democrats met behind closed doors Wednesday morning at Capitol Hill to reach their decision.

Jeffries was unopposed for the position of leader. Massachusetts Rep. Katherine Clark, the current assistant speaker, ran as a whip. California Rep. Peter Aguilar (previous vice chair of the caucus) was expected to win the seat to lead the House Democratic caucus.

The Republicans hold the majority in Congress next year, so Jeffries Clark, Aguilar, and Clark will all be leading in a Democratic minority. This is the first of two terms.

Jeffries, 52, will be a significant change in the House Democratic leadership, which is currently composed of three decades-older House Democratic leaders. In 2019, he was elected chairman of the Democratic caucus, making him the youngest member to hold that position.

After Pelosi, House Minority Leader Steny Hoyer, and House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn declared they would be leaving their leadership positions, Clyburn has taken the leadership role. Clyburn will likely be the assistant leader of the new Congress.

Pelosi, who was named “Speaker Emerita” by the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee Tuesday evening, blessed the trio of new leaders. She made a statement to bless them and announce that she will resign and become a rank-and-file member of the new Congress.

Pelosi stated, “A new day has dawned — and I am confident these new leaders will capably head our Caucus or the Congress.”

Democratic lawmakers have been whispering for months that Pelosi’s possible exit from Congress could open the door to Jeffries.

Jeffries stated that he hopes to lead an effort that centers communication strategy around the messaging principle “values unite, issues split.” He also praised past leadership but added that “more must be done” to combat inflation, defend democracy, protect reproductive freedom, welcome new Americans, and promote equal protection under the aw.

Ellen Pompeo remembers still swooning over this beach house when she first saw it. The modernist structure perched on a hilltop overlooking Malibu’s ocean, California, had something special.

However, there was one problem: the cost. The home was too costly and “Grey’s Anatomy,” the ABC medical drama series in which Pompeo played the title character Meredith Grey for almost two decades, was still new at the time. She reluctantly gave up her dream of owning it.

But not for too much.

Pompeo said that he likes to claim that he built this house. This was in an exclusive interview with Architectural Digest for their January 2023 cover story.

The home was put on the market once again in 2013. Pompeo, who was then one of the most well-paid actors on television, jumped at the chance to add the home to her real estate portfolio. (Her family’s main residence is still a 1920s Mediterranean-style house in Los Angeles.

She told the magazine that she truly enjoyed the art and craft of building houses. It exercises a different creative power.

Modern touches on a classic property

Conrad Buff and Donald Hensman designed the property of 3,000 square feet. It is ideal for weekend getaways. It was built around a central courtyard that is filled with palm trees, grass, and a swimming pool made of crisp white marble.

Pompeo and Chris Ivery enlisted Martyn Lawrence Bullard to help them with the renovations of their teak-wrapped home. This year, she is on Architectural Digest’s “AD100” list, which honors top architecture, design, and decor talents.

“Some people desire a home that is clean and sterile, but makes them feel as if they are at a spa,” Pompeo said that he loves design that tells stories.

The home features subtle references to this decor principle throughout, which adds personality to the living areas. The home also reflects the “sexy swagger” of ’70s fashion, as the magazine describes it. It features vintage terrace chairs and a leather sofa in its living room and a 1970s cutting board from Yves Saint Laurent in the foyer. Pompeo’s love for the era’s fashion icons is evident in the framed photos of Grace Jones and Diana Ross.

This is Pompeo’s second home renovation, despite her being described by the magazine as “a weakness for real property.” Pompeo has previously renovated several properties, including a barn in Sag Harbor. This marks her fourth project working with Bullard. There’s more to come. Pompeo and Ivery purchased the property that was behind their beach home and intends to make it a “true Malibu Estate.”

The new chapter begins with a new home

Pompeo will now be retiring from the role that she has played for 19 seasons. The character of Pompeo will be saying goodbye to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in February. A promo teases that Meredith Grey will depart Seattle for a new beginning in Boston.

Pompeo explained to AD that she is currently preparing for a new Hulu project and is enjoying her newfound freedom and her newly renovated home. This means long walks on the beach with her dogs and surfing on her boogieboard alongside her three children.

Pompeo stated, “I am entering an exciting phase in my life if you do not mind me saying so.”

Rebel Wilson seems to have reacted after being accused by her fans of having “fatphobia” for not including inclusive sizes in her new loungewear collection.

Wilson posted Tuesday night on her Instagram Stories, writing: “We are experimenting avec this limited capsule collection consisting of only two pieces and limited sizing.”

She then asked her followers for their favorite colors and sizes and found that R&R Club was almost sold out.

Wilson was criticized this week for her clothing line of matching sweatsuits that only had sizes XS-XL.

One user responded to a tweet praising the sizing by writing on Twitter, “Former fat persons love nothing more than pretend like fat people exist after they lose body weight.”

Another wrote that there was a “huge epidemic” of fat girls who had lost weight. Now they are enslaved by the same fatphobia that made their fat self-hateful. “So now they want to distance themselves from fatness because society still hates women that lose weight forever being fat.”

Wilson had recently lost weight, according to others.

According to the “Pitch Perfect” actress, her decision to embark upon a year of health came after her fertility specialist said she would have a better chance of becoming a mother if she made some adjustments.

People magazine reported that the actor looked at me and said, “You’d do better if your health was better.”

“I was taken aback. “Oh my God, that guy is so rude,” I thought. He was correct. I was carrying a lot of extra weight. It was almost as if I forgot to consider my own needs. It was thinking about the needs of my future children that inspired me to be healthier.

The actress lost 80 pounds.

Wilson shocked fans when she shared that she had welcomed a baby girl via surrogate after losing weight.

She wrote, “Beyond proud of the birth of my second child, Royce Lillian,” in the post.

“I cannot even express the love that I have for her. She’s a beautiful miracle. This has been a long process and I will always be grateful to everyone involved. But, I wanted to especially thank my beautiful surrogate for carrying her and giving birth with such grace. It was an incredible gift. Thank you for helping to start my family. This is the best gift!

She said, “I am ready and able to give little Royce every love possible. I’m learning fast…much respect for all the Mums out here! I am proud to be a member of your club.

Pennsylvania has a Batmobile that has risen from the dead and is available for purchase for $1.5 Million.

Official replica of the car featured in Tim Burton’s Batman films starring Michael Keaton is used.

It was originally commissioned by Warner Bros. to be used as a promotion vehicle. However, it was later repurposed at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey.

Stewart Howden, president of Classic Auto Mall, stated that the car was initially powered by a 350-cubic-inch V8 but later converted to an electric motor for use in the park.

However, it still has a flamethrower that can create the jet engine effect.

A driver’s seat is hidden behind the front seats. This allowed a Batman actor or a passenger to go along on a ride.

It had been abandoned for many years before it was purchased by the current owner who restored it to its former glory.

According to reports, it runs on a 48-volt battery. It has a top speed of 30 mph and is not currently driven.

An emergency kill switch was hidden under the bodywork to allow someone outside to disable it in an emergency.

The Batmobile can be seen at Morgantown’s Classic Auto Mall showroom, where it doubles as a museum that houses over 650 vehicles.

For the production of the 1989 film, two primary stunt cars were built. One is now in the Petersen Automotive Museum Los Angeles while the other is owned by a private collector.

According to two new reports by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, deaths from drug misuse and alcohol addiction appear to be increasing in older Americans. This is similar to recent increases among younger adults.

According to a Wednesday report by the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics, the rate of drug overdose deaths among seniors has more than tripled over the past 20 years. More than 5,000 Americans aged 65 or older died from a drug overdose in 2020.

Although drug overdose deaths for older adults are lower than in other age groups and accounted for 0.2% of all deaths in 2020 among adults 65 years and older, such deaths continue to rise. The rates of drug overdose deaths among seniors 65 years and older rose from 2.4 to 8 per 100,000 between 2000 and 2020.

A new report by the National Center for Health Statistics shows that alcohol-related deaths among older adults (65 and over) have increased since 2011, and have increased more than 18% between 2019 and 2020. More than 11,000 seniors died from alcohol-induced causes in 2020.

Ellen Kramarow, a National Center for Health Statistics health statistician and author of the new reports, stated in an email that “It is important to describe changes in these causes of death for all age groups, including the elderly.”

Kramarow and her coworkers did not examine the causes of these increases. However, Kramarow stated that it was not unreasonable to assume that those 65 and over are also affected by the same forces that affect younger people.

According to preliminary data from the CDC, drug overdose deaths in America reached their highest-ever level last year. Overdose deaths in the USA have been increasing for many years, but they increased during the Covid-19 pandemic. Experts cite financial and mental stressors as reasons behind the increase.

Rates of drug and alcohol-related deaths in older adults

Based on data from CDC’s National Vital Statistics System System, the report on drug overdose deaths found that opioid-related death rates were highest in cases involving synthetic opioids other than methadone.

Fentanyl can be 100 times stronger than morphine. The death rate from synthetic opioids rose by 53% in older adults between 2019 and 2020. It increased from 1.9 to 2.9% per 100,000 people.

Between 2000 and 2020, the number of drug overdose deaths among men rose more than that among women. It rose from 2.7 to 12.3 deaths for every 100,000 men to 2.3 to 5.8 deaths for every 100,000 women. There were also some racial differences in the data, indicating that non-Hispanic Black men aged 65 or older had higher drug overdose death rates than Hispanic and White men. Black women aged 65-74 had the highest rates of drug overdose deaths, while women 75 and older had the highest.

Based on CDC data, the report on alcohol-induced death found that, although they account for less than 1% of all deaths among seniors 65 and over, their death rates rose between 2019 and 2020. They increased from 17.1 to 20.1 deaths per 100 people.

Higher rates of alcohol-induced death were seen in men. According to the report, between 2019 and 2020, the rate for men aged 65-74 rose from 36.5 to 43.4 per 100, while rates for men 75 years and older increased from 19.8 and 21.5 respectively.

For women, the alcohol-induced death rates rose from 10.2 to 12.9 in those 65-74 years old and from 4.4 and 5.3 for those 75 years and older.

These data also revealed some racial differences. It was found that alcohol-induced deaths in adults over 65 years old were higher for Alaska Native or American Indian adults than for those White, Black, Asian, and White.

According to Peter Hendricks (a professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health Department of Health Behaviour), excessive drinking can have greater consequences for older adults than for younger ones, which can lead to higher death rates.

Hendricks, who wasn’t involved in the new reports, said that “as we age, the way we metabolize drugs changes and as a result, the effects of alcohol vary as we age.” “It is common for many people to have significant intoxication or inebriation after consuming moderate or reasonable amounts of alcohol at one time or another.”

Hendricks says that older adults who have had too many drinks are more likely to fall if they’re at home.

He said that falls, motor vehicle accidents, and other types of accidents increase as we age due to changes in motor coordination. “What may be considered casual alcohol consumption can eventually turn deadly because alcohol further impairs motor coordination. This could result in a fatal fall at home, for instance.

The CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics released a separate report Wednesday, showing that unintentional fall deaths have also increased in adults 65 years and older between 2000 and 2020.

An alarming rise in suicide rates

Hendricks stated that although the National Center for Health Statistics reports were based on annual data, there were likely seasonal trends. He expects that the number of drug-related deaths and injuries will increase as the winter holidays, particularly Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, approach.

Hendricks stated that “you see certain periods when these deaths cluster,” adding that it might be a mistake to think such trends are only associated with holiday loneliness.

People often believe that as you age, your life will become more difficult and sad. We find that older people are generally happier than their younger counterparts. He said that one reason is that older people are happier and live longer.

He stated that “the main problem is that you become more susceptible to the risks from drinking: the effects of motor coordination, heart function and pulmonary function on the immune system, as well as the effects on the immune system, as you age.” Even small amounts of alcohol can be very damaging to your body.

Lori Ann Post, the Buehler professor in geriatrics and emergency medicine at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, stated that the findings regarding drug- and alcohol-induced deaths were “very alarming.” She sent an email.

“Because we are accustomed to thinking of older adults as not having a substance abuse disorder or being at risk for overdose, it is not common for us to think of them as such. Post, who wasn’t involved in the reports, but has researched rising rates of opioid overdose deaths among older adults, said that there is no doubt that there is an undercount.

Post and her coworkers found that opioid overdose deaths among older Americans rose 1,886% from 1999 to 2019, and published their findings in the journal JAMA Network Open. The post stated that the findings of the new report were consistent with their findings.

“Older adults have a higher risk of drug interactions than younger adults, a lower ability to metabolize drugs, and higher rates of social isolation and depression, which can lead to self-sedation. She stated that we need to remove the stigma so that older adults can be treated. “Unfortunately, there are not a lot of substance abuse treatment programs that cater to older adults.”

Post stressed that all older adults should be screened by their primary care doctors, surgeons, and emergency medicine doctors. They should also refer them to substance and mental health treatment if necessary.

It announced Wednesday that the US Food and Drug Administration will be shifting its blood donation policy from blanket assessments to questionnaires that are more focused on individual risk.

FDA stated in a statement that the agency uses data from a donor eligibility survey and other blood surveillance information to “likely support a policy shift to individual risk-based donor screening queries for reducing HIV transmission risk.”

The statement states that “The FDA is committed to gathering scientific data related to alternative donor policies that maintain high levels of blood safety.” “We expect to issue updated draft guidance within the next months.”

Although the FDA did not respond to requests for further information, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that the FDA had made changes that would allow more men to donate blood to those who have sex in monogamous relationships.

Potential donors who have been with a new partner for the last three months will be asked if they had any intercourses during that period. An FDA official explained to the Journal that those who have not had intercourse during this period would be permitted to donate blood.

Men who have had sex with women must wait three months before they can donate blood.

The United States required that men who had sex with women wait one year before donating blood. However, this was in place until 2020. FDA changed these guidelines in 2020 due to the increased demand for blood donations from the Covid-19 pandemic.

“While today’s FDA reports are an important step in the right direction, our community, and top medical experts will not stop advocating that the FDA lift all restrictions against qualified LGBTQ donor candidates,” Sarah Kate Ellis (CEO and president of GLAAD), stated in a statement.

Ellis stated that “as LGBTQ leaders and medical professionals have said for years: bans or restrictions on blood donation from gay and bisexual men is rooted in stigma and not science.”

American Medical Association President Dr. Jack Resneck Jr. stated in a statement that the news of possible guidelines changes is “encouraging.”

He stated that the AMA advocates for eliminating policies that don’t align with scientific evidence or best ethical practices. Therefore, we have urged FDA to use rational, scientifically-based, deferral periods to donate blood, corneas, and other tissues to donors that are fair and consistent to each donor according to their risk.

Wednesday’s statement by the American Red Cross stated that it believes that blood donation eligibility shouldn’t be determined based on sexual orientation. It also committed to working with partners towards achieving this goal.

Vitalant, the FDA-funded ADVANCE research study, and The Red Cross have collaborated with Vitalant to determine if a risk-based questionnaire about blood donor history could replace a referral for gay or bisexual donors.

Vitalant, a non-profit network of blood donation centers, spokeswoman Nick Gehrig. She said that Vitalant is proud to have been the lead investigator in the ADVANCE Study to provide data to FDA to allow them to make changes to the eligibility policy for men who have had sex with women (MSM). While maintaining safety, Vitalant will also be providing the FDA with the necessary information. We are eager to hear more from the FDA over the coming months.

In 2020, the UK changed a similar policy and now allows men who are in a long-term marriage to donate blood at any time. Men who have had sex with women are still required not to have sex for at least three months before they can donate in the UK.
