The following interview was held at the Atlanta G3 Conference with my good friends David Shannon, Toby Sumpter, and Gabe Rench from Cross Politic Studios. It’s always great to get together with them. The 30-minute interview was about my new book The Rapture and the Fig Tree Generation. A small crowd assembled around the booth as we discussed the book and related topics.

Gary is an American writer, lecturer, and was president of American Vision. Gary DeMar is Senior Fellow at American Vision and the author of 25 books, a good amount being on the topic of eschatology. He has written books such as Last Days Madness, Is Jesus Coming Soon?, Left Behind: Separating Fact from Fiction.

Can you recite the name all 44 of the American Presidents? Could your children tell you highlights of what each one did while in office? When the average person is trying to recite the names of the American Presidents, they usually get lost shortly after Jefferson, leaving a big gap in their understanding of history, then they remember Lincoln, followed by another big gap, picking back up on one of the two Roosevelt Presidents. It's pretty sad. It means that the average American is ignorant about more than half of our American Presidents!

I was recently delighted to interview John Adams, founder of the American History Guild (and incidentally a descendant of the American President by the same name), about a new educational iPad app he about to release called "Presidents Revealed." The artwork and graphics are beautifully mesmerizing. What's more, its fun hands-on learning with an iPad. If your children would rather listen to the stories of the app, they can listen to battlefield historian Bill Potter read the tales from history and guess who the stories about at the end.

In this final episode in The Valley Forge's Online History Tour with our friend Dr. Marshall Foster and battlefield historian Bill Potter, we visit the climatic battlefield of the southern campaign in the War for American Independence and find out how the outcome of this battle led to victory at Yorktown. It's an encouraging story of God's merciful providence in the lives of a fledging nation of amateur militia men, soldiers, and dedicated warrior fighting against the greatest Empire on Earth at that time. Had the outcome of this battle been different, it is very unlikely that America would have survived in its infancy as a free country.

After the interview with the Atlanta Live television program, each guest was invited to come together for a panel discussion about our differing views on Bible prophecy, the cultural implications, as well as what we have in common. You can view these panel discussions in the video embedded above. I think one thing everyone of us on the program agreed about was the need for Christians to get out their Bibles and actually study these questions themselves rather than merely relying on their "spiritual leaders" to do their study and thinking for them. The Reformers did not spill their blood for the cause of "Sola Scriptura!" so that we could today make a new form of Christian elitism where rather than reading the Bible ourselves we depend upon others to tell us what it says.

We explain in clear language the interpretation of the time texts, The Olivet Discourse, Daniel's Seventy Weeks, the Book of Revelation, and more. The implications of one's view on Bible prophecy can have broad affect on how they involve themselves in political trends, economic shifts, military action, and of course Gospel proclamation. One of the other panelists in this discussion, Dr. Thomas Slater, Professor of New Testament at Mercer University, made an excellent observation when he said: "When people concentrate on whether or not the world is going to end soon, they stop making the world a better place."

This TV show was broadcast the same day that Dr. Leila Denmark died. As I mention in the broadcast, she was one whose life overlapped with many different famous people and achievements during the last century.  Dr. Denmark was one of the oldest persons living in the world before she died at age 114, and in many ways she devoted the great care and excellence we would hope to see all Christians dedicate to the stewardship responsibilities God has set before them. Whether one agrees with all of her medical conclusions or not, I think we cannot deny that she was one of the humble of servants of Christ on this earth who worked diligently to make the world a better place.
