Mine says It's 2012

If I allow a group of people who never rode a motorcycle, sucked at growing their own, built temples that are a bitch on their "prayer bones" to rain on my parade I would deserve things to end. They did have some kick ass locations to ride, along with weather conditions second to none. But try & talk with a Mayan travel agent these days.

The motorcycle industry is changing in 2012. Yes, because of the economy and some just want it to. Go figure the ones with the dough try telling us, we need an electric motorcycle, air bags on a motorcycle, and need to go 200 m.p.h. right out of the crate. Oh yeah plus we need Mohawk hair for our helmets, a condom not just for your schwantz but to protect the gas tank paint job.

I could try to cipher a calendar written in stone thousands of years ago, but with the absence of Sturgis, Daytona Bike Week and the mayan who chiseled it. Why? Mine is a hell of a lot easier to read. You don't even have to look closely to find August on my calendar. We are after all the ones who cipher through this economy & with our dough, make our economy happen in 2012. The ones that couldn't make it are gone down the road, even if it was a tropical paradise in South America.

I have to admit, I am kind of surprised O.C.C. did not build a theme bike about the Mayans. Oh yeah , how soon I forgot they only build with a huge corporate sponsor . The Mayans stopped sponsorship and writing in their calendar thousands of years ago. My calendar for 2012 just keeps going with plenty of motorcycles, hot woman and a lot of open roads to see in the horizon. But what do I know I am just your average EvoJoe.
His name is Jake McIntyre of BikerPics.org . Jack's everyday ride is a Harley Road King and is based in Philadelphia PA. It all started for Jack while attending Daytona & Myrtle Beach rallies, in the 90's. With a website built to store Jack's moment in time of what is the biker lifestyle, things went full bore in 2002.

Many of us take pictures of where we've been on our American Made 2 wheel chariots. Many of Jack's photographs are "spur of the moment" at the events we attend, or from viewing his pics wish we had. An all day open invitation shoot at company HQ, always proves interesting. The day of the shoot usually brings 50 motorcycles to the company parking lot, but don't be surprised if a models panties falls out of her work bag. I wish I could say the same at the American Biker Biz parking lot. We just have oil spots from a panhead and a stubborn AMF kick-starter.

I have always been the guy who knows if I can't build it/ make it go to an expert. I have had many business arguments with my "computer guru" over quality images. I hate it when the fucking guru is right, but that's business. After thumbing thru a catalog of over 75,000 images available at Bikerpics.org, I'm going to have to find something else to fight about with the "computer guru". I will still take pics on my cellphone, my kids like em.

Taking a moment in time of the biker lifestyle is what Jack makes happen. Having a group of beautiful models that share the curves works well for all to see.The company motto at BikerPics.org is "It comes from the Heart". The heart & soul of Jack's images is the motorcycle. But what do I know , I am just your average EvoJoe. Take a look for yourself at BikerPics.org.

Marc is a high school Technology & Motorcycle Fundamentals Teacher, who took his passion & has made a difference on today's youth & tomorrows workforce. Bike Klub was offered to students determined by a few in authority, to be "at risk" & "introverts". Bernice MacNaughton High School has opened not only their school doors, but the eyes of many from what is "Bike Klub". Bike Klub provides more than a place to hang out.they build custom motorcycles.

Besides working the 9-5 teaching job, instructing at Bike Klub has taught the teacher a few things. Thru Bike Klub students learn to promote self-worth, respect, confidence, sense of community that would otherwise be lost in the crowd. Did I mention the students build some cool bikes too! Bike Klub makes sure the students get more than just how to cut, grind, and bend metal. The students learn how to be creative & learn their creative minds matter. Bike Klub is all about the students, it always has been & Marc is the one who got the chassis rolling by making the program happen.

Marc is fortunate to have a great mentor & motivator, whose Dad passed away in 1996, but his words & advice live on.Offering more advice is Bob McKay,Canada's only Master Bike Builder. Bob has always been there and given some eye opening advice helping out Bike Klub. Chica, from Chica Custom Cycles, gave the club some advice early on about overcoming adversity. Overall the greatest mentors so far to the program have been the students who mentor each other to a win-win program.

Marc's advice to those that want to make a difference is: Be prepared for the best, be prepared for the worst ,you're gonna laugh, you're gonna cry, you'll be shocked & amazed. Mostly, no matter how many people put you down, no matter how many folks try to stop you, it will be worth it. Marc can promise that because he made it happen and built some cool bikes in the process.

New Challenge/ Find an American Made Helmet

I am one of the fortunate ones who lives in a state that it is my choice to wear a helmet. I helped out a startup online biker mall a couple of years ago. The owners of the virtual mall stated they wanted helmets at their mall. I thought this was going to be an easy search for American made helmets. After much research, it was determined helmets are made overseas. This seemed outrageous to me knowing how many helmets are placed on peoples melons.

I was heading to the Dealer Expo at Indianapolis and knew I could talk with the source,Bell Helmets. Bell had a kick ass display & a bunch of reps on hand to answer questions. When I asked the rep "Do you make helmets in the USA"? The rep kinda of steered clear of the display booth to tell me "No". What the hell happened? Greed, pollution, cost to make a plastic coated foam with a buckle seems like not a lot of skilled labor involved. It has got to be greed that forces the move.

Talking with Clay Morrison from Confederate Motorcycles yeaterday, we want to find an American made motorcycle helmet. This is a new mission for us both. If anyone knows of a company we want to know, anyone can respond here on the blog. I know Germany &Greed Italy produces some helmets of quality. Today the search is on to find an American Made motorcycle helmet. I am in the know that if a American company does exist things will become very lucrative once the word gets out. Maybe a wanted poster should be posted like searching for Billy the Kid. In my opinion it seems criminal how America gave our jobs overseas. Greed can do that. Determination can turn things around. When I find the elusive American Made motorcycle helmet we will post a picture & get the word out.
Mad Mike Hughes is the World's Most Famous Limo Driver & he breaks records that Guiness can attest to. Mad Mike has the balls to set this jump up in record time and could use some financial backing. The man I idolized as a kid, Evel Knievel took 7 years to make the Snake River Jump a reality. I guarantee you Mad Mike knows why Evel's parachute prematurely opened. Mad Mike has done the research, made the changes & has a plan to make it happen. This unforgettable event takes money because like bikers now the small percentage who control the legal & insurance mumbo jumbo can put a KABASH on anything they are scared of. My friend Mad Mike Hughes has the balls to complete what he sets out to do,even if Evel Knievel didn't. I can admit one of the reasons I ride is due to the showman Evel Knievel. I jumped many garbage cans as a kid. I broke many bike frames in my attempts to break a neighborhood record, but that was in the seventies. Most of us work hard for our money, saving for something we know will benefit us in more ways than one. Scrimping & saving is a lot harder these days, because of where our money ends up. This article ends up different in many ways.

A man close to my age sees the bike he has wanted for awhile at the local dealership. His ride of choice is a '98 Heritage Softail. The Heritage is red ,his favorite color with a lotta chrome. It ain't cool if the chrome don't shine . The chrome was shining on the showroom floor, because people get paid to do that at dealerships. The bike of his dreams was purchased with a thousand down & $10,000. left to pay. With the paperwork signed off to the sunset he rode, it was in Arizona,a land known for their sunsets.

One week after his purchase of the Heritage, this guy has a massive heart attack & dies. His grieving Father has the burden of squaring up his son's finances. The Dad knows how in a weeks time ,how much the Heritage meant to his son who saved more than money for that bike. The dealership was just down the road , so his Dad went to prepare to hear the legal mumbo jumbo of a signed contract. Mother Road H-D listened to the Dad, then tore up the contract . The financial manager grieved with the Dad, telling him contract smontract you have been thru enough, we liked your son at Mother Road H-D. Nowadays you don't often hear about a company that cares. Thank You Mother Road H-D for putting money & legal mumbo jumbo aside.

I just spoke with Victory Motorcycles, whose first bike was produced in Spirit Lake, Iowa, on July 4th, 1998. How do you like that starting date for"American Made"? It sounds like a great start to building an icon. Every Victory motorcycle since that July 4th has been produced,in Spirit Lake,Iowa.

Victory Motorcycle operates out of the Polaris Headquarters, located in Medina,MN.The 106 Cubic Inch Freedom V-twin engines are built in Osceola,WI .The Parts Support is located in Vermillion,SD. Victory Motorcycle has a Research & Development center, doing the math on the next icon,in Wyoming,MN. They have "put it all together" for some of the coolest bikes on the road.

The 106 Cubic Inch Freedom V-twin engine,is standard on all of the Victory Motorcycles. The Freedom V-twin has 97 hp. & 113 ft./lbs. of torque in the power plant. This is impressive, because the H-D Twin Cam 96 has less hp. & torque. Victory Motorcyle has a motto"Fuel It" and if you do ? You will see who sets the standard in American V-twin.

Victory Motorcycle knows, the only way to know a Victory is to ride one. They are fully committed to letting us test their theory. With six semi-trucks touring the USA,and hosting 22,000 demo rides last year. You will see their trucks at Sturgis & Daytona Beach, ready to try "What Is" Victory Motorcycles .With 5 types of American made motorcycles available in a price range starting at $12,499- $27,999. Most bikes are in the $14,000-$20,000 range.

Some believed him enough to pack up the family into the Buick(cage) & drive to California & watch. I heard another liquidated his assets & even picked up a bible to tell more the end was here. All the hoopla proved that Harry's computer is only as smart as the guy hitting the keys. I understand a church is tax exempt & Harry's is a multimillion dollar congregation.
What about my church of the open road? The open road needs a civil engineer to fix our nations infrastructure. The potholes are everywhere & bridges need fixing fast. We are still going to keep rolling on, Laconia is almost here. Laconia,Sturgis & Daytona are not predictions, but a gathering of those who believe in the open road. Despite the roads in disrepair, we keep rolling past the predictions. Hell yes we have bikers to meet, places to ride & rallies to attend.
We are Thankful to those that rode before us on roads that weren't even paved. Those that "Ride to Live/ Live to Ride" know the value of being on the open road with their knees in the breeze. It can be described as spiritual. I have passed many trailers going to the same destination as me. I am not here to judge the decision to miss out on what is "the experience". My"maker" will come "like a thief in the night". Until then I "Ride to Live/Live to Ride" and it feels damn good. Harry the only thing super about a super computer is the price tag. If your not busy the first week of August, I will be checking out the roads around South Dakota once again. You might recognize me, I will be riding a Harley.

Confederate Motorcycles

I just spoke with Confederate Motorcycles, located in Birmingham Alabama . Production for this American manufacturer of motorcycles began in 1993 with the model fittingly named Hellcat. True craftsmanship is part of what makes their bikes be known in the motorcyle world.

As shown by the pictures, "Design in Revolt" is the company motto at Confederate Motorcycle. Every motorcycle built has a client who has discussed the details with the craftsman building their bike. The buyers of these unique works of art ,with the balls to go fast, typically already know what they want to ride. You won't see a group of 10 different models with factory demo rides at Confederate Motorcycles. What you will see is a client who cares about "attention to detail" and quality that rumbles" Made in the USA".
The P120 Fighter is another model with a unique look and the picture is at the bottom. The B120 Wraith is priced at $90,000 and is pictured in the middle. All of these American made motorcycles are fierce street machines. Adding to the quality, look & horsepower, is the personal service you receive as the first title holder of a Confederate Motorcycle built just for you. Each bike is hand delivered to the clients home. I just wonder how many clients are like me & want to ride as soon as possible.

The message is clear from Confederate Motorcycle. This guy is like many I know a tradesman with a bad back. It is a pretty common trait when your busting your ass to put food on the table that your back gets injured in the process. Even with injuries your bills do not stop. The bad back was enough to put a halt on riding his motorcycle, temporarily of course. But then my brothers daughter needed money for college & he sold his Harley-Davidson.
I saw my brother just after he sold his bike & he was bumming big time. I hate to see bikers without bikes & I told him he could ride my FXR if he needed a fix. Brothers do help brothers, but his back was in real bad shape so he opted out of my offer. I will always remember the feeling of not being able to ride because of a surgery I needed. Ride to Live/Live to Ride is not just a slogan on a tshirt.
So this morning when I saw my brother, he was smiling ear to ear.I told him I heard the good news that he just bought another Harley. He told me he bought a 2009 Ultra. This guy deserves comfort this go round. As he told me the past owner rode it to Sturgis twice but for some reason needed to sell it. My brother took his 2009 out for a spin & when he was riding the damn starter tried engaging while he was riding. His response"WTF" then he called the Harley dealership he bought the bike from. The dealership in Wisconsin told him park it & they are coming to pick it up. Within 30 minutes they were strapping it on a flatbed. The dealership checked everything electrical found nothing but did what doesn't always happen they changed everthing from starter, relay to make sure the bike is rolling & starting for my brothers well deserved ride . I want people to know good wrenches are still operating at Harley dealerships.
Thanks Racine H-D my buddy is happy once again. I can't wait to go riding with him because we are sure to find another story out of it & even if I don't put it on paper we will get plenty of enjoyment from Riding to Live. This I do know because I am EvoJoe .

Tales to be told start here

I am not sure is you have seen the new id on the block Motus Motorcycle. This is an American made sport touring bike that is built for speed with quality parts & the best engineering possible. To get a glimpse of what was unveiled at Daytona check out the May issue of Cycle World.
It seems like the cost of gasoline will be at a all time high from here on out. Park them cages as the world looks a whole lot different on two wheels. I can see to catch up with technology it would be time to check out electric motorcycles. I am addicted to the sound of my Harley so purchasing one would be out of the question. But I am one to get educated in what is happening out there. As far as I know it is best to purchase American made products. Not only because a lot of Americans are still out of work,we produce goods that last. When Mubarek took the Egyptians freedom of the internet away & banned reporters away it was not because good things were going to happen. But the brave souls who figured out how to link to the world via Twitter & Facebook proved to the regime "Welcome to the Social Media Age".This is only a guess from me a biker thousands of miles away. Because of greed, Mubarek did not want to leave without all his money with total disregard to the people of Egypt. Seeing the Google exec. who risked it all to bring freedom of speech to his brothers & sisters is someone I would like to meet.
This reign of politics where people lose their freedom is not confined to Egypt. Next I heard the citizens of Iran have protested. Do not hear so much because a bigger chaos began in Libya. Seems Mohmarr Gahdafi ordered his jet pilots to shoot at the crowd in the streets of Libya. The citizens in Libya also lost their freedom of the internet along with the freedom to assemble. It turns out the Libyan jet fights had a conscience & defected to Malta. I am grateful to this land Malta for accepting them. It is a changing world because people are pushed to their limits when freedom is taken away.
Politics is ever present even in my backyard. The mayoral race in Chicago comes to a vote today. Last week I received a phone call telling me about Rahm Emanuel & I do not live in Chicago or even Cook County. Not sure how that list included me but that's politics. Someone always wants to be in charge which is fine by me. Just remember you can take a lot in the process but never take my Freedom it is bad for business. We do have choices in the USA despite what you hear from those whose candidate lost out. I know many will disagree but our election process is still the best around. This week in the news we focus on Egypt. Mubarek took the peoples freedom that lets Egyptians communicate to the world. I just learned Mubarek is only worth 20 billion. Being he was in charge for 30 years, I can see greed took over this Mubarek in Egypt. I see Dads taking pictures with the kids on the tanks gun barrel.
This is why I love the USA., when I take pictures of my kids it has a Harley-Davidson nearby not a armored tank. The next presidential election in America might have a newcomer to the political parade. I have voted in every election since I was 18. Yes sometimes the guy I voted for loses, most times he wins. When you see a country like Egypt celebrate because one man is out. Call me crazy but anyone that takes peoples freedom away needs a new career choice.
I heard Donald Trump is thinking of running for president. I hope he does .

Blogging from iGoogle and Gmail

Blogging from iGoogle and Gmail
