So much so, to even leak out suggestions that Steven Joel Sotloff's execution took place the same day as James Wright Foley's, the 19th of August, 2014.

If the current administration contends that Mr. Steven Joel Sotloff was killed the same day as Mr. James Wright Foley, then ask them to explain how Steven Joel Sotloff was able to grow @ two weeks of hair as a dead man. Look at his facial hair and the noticeable thickness of the hair on his head.

OK current, criminal administration, if you get a "feel good" feeling from leaking unto others your perverted deception while hiding the truth of NOT doing anything, then so be it, but those of US who won't be your pawns, know better.

The family of Steven Sotloff, the latest American journalist beheaded by ISIS, is reportedly "outraged" at the Obama administration for "deliberate leaks" they interpret as "an attempt to absolve the administration of inaction." This reporting comes Wednesday from no less a source than the New York Times, which chose to bury the news under more than two dozen paragraphs:

Last Thursday, Mr. Sotloff’s mother, Shirley, appealed to the leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the self-proclaimed caliph of the Muslim world, to grant amnesty to her son. “I ask you to use your authority to spare his life,” she said in videotaped remarks seen around the world.

A person close to the Sotloff family expressed outrage at what he viewed as a pattern of deliberate leaks in Washington suggesting that Mr. Sotloff was killed the same day as Mr. Foley — a strategy he said the family sees as an attempt to absolve the administration of inaction.

“It was incredibly frustrating for us, because it was as if basically they were saying, ‘Don’t hope for any positive outcome,' ” said this person, who requested anonymity because he did not have the family’s permission to speak publicly.

This news is also not referenced in the Times' headline: "ISIS Says It Killed Steven Sotloff After U.S. Strikes in Northern Iraq."

As far as I know, using her Twitter account, English author Louise Mensch was the first to catch the burying of this notable news.

It wasn't so long ago when major stars at The New York Times argued that anguished and angry mothers enjoyed an absolute moral authority over a sitting president -- and answers.

Today the Times refuses to give these mothers a headline and then goes so far as to bury their outrage at the sitting president.

Democrats sure got it good.

Sure the following "Person of INTEREST" could of been a U.S.A. citizen, but he wasn't and what makes it worst, is that the current political dictatorship regime - Obama Administration & Corrupt Congress - seems to take this sort of criminal behavior as acceptable, thus putting U.S.A. citizens and others at risk.

Many may only look at this most recent harm as being a sad sort of affairs, while others worry that it could of been them or one of their loved ones. You would be smart to think the latter and STOP taking it lying down, or maybe one day that's right where you may be, just not breathing.

People not so long ago used to immigrate to the U.S.A. to become U.S.A. citizens, but these invaders don't appear to be wanting that or perhaps they have been directed to not concern for that.

EXCLUSIVE: Released Alien from Border Crisis Arrested for Alleged Murder, Kidnapping in Texas

Federal Fugitive, Invader: Pedro Alberto Monterroso-Navas appears to look harmless, but then again he invaded another country to steal and take for himself while leaving the locals to struggle.

LUBBOCK, Texas—An illegal immigrant who was released by U.S. authorities with a Notice to Appear has been arrested for the alleged murder of a woman and kidnapping of children on U.S. soil. The alleged crimes occurred after the man was released.

The man, Pedro Alberto Monterroso-Navas, entered the U.S. illegally with children and turned himself in to U.S. Border Patrol agents. He was processed and released, as are all illegal immigrants who come as unaccompanied minors or incomplete family units from Central America. The alien is from Honduras.

The arrest was first reported by the Associated Press (AP), but Breitbart Texas has exclusively confirmed that the man was part of the Obama Administration’s catch and release policy for family groups from Central America.

A U.S. Border Patrol source who spoke with Breitbart Texas on the condition of anonymity provided Breitbart Texas with the alien registration number for the man, and the event number for the man’s apprehension. He was processed in the McAllen station of the U.S. Border Patrol. The alien’s registration number is 202027386. The event number for his apprehension is MCS14061487. The “MCS” designates the McAllen station, the “1406” designates that the man was apprehended in June of 2014. A separate Border Patrol source confirmed that the man was apprehended on June 26, 2014 with two children he claimed were his own. He told U.S. authorities he had family in Metairie, Louisiana.

The AP identified the illegal alien as a “suburban New Orleans man” who faces a second-degree murder charge after his girlfriend was found bludgeoned to death in a bathtub in Louisiana. The man was arrested in a Katy, Texas trailer park with three children. It is unclear if they are his or if they are the same children he used to get U.S. authorities to release him with a Notice to Appear.

The AP did not inform their readers that the man was an illegal alien.

McALLEN, Texas - Journalist and immigrant advocate Jose Antonio Vargas, who worked for years and even won a Pulitzer Prize as an undocumented immigrant, was being held here Tuesday by the U.S. Border Patrol.

He was taken into custody after trying to pass through security at the local airport following a visit to this city just across the border from Mexico.

Several dozen supporters gathered in front of a Border Patrol station here, vowing to remain until the immigration icon is freed.

"What's happening to him happens to many people here every day," said Tania Chavez, one of the organizers of the gathering. "People feel trapped. They can't travel past the checkpoint areas."

She added, "It's like we are trapped in a cage."

Vargas traveled to this border city to document the plight of the tens of thousands of undocumented migrants from Central America, most of them children, who have been streaming across the border since October.

Agents detained Vargas when he arrived at the McAllen-Miller International Airport hoping to catch a flight to Los Angeles.

"I don't know what's going to happen," he tweeted before going past an airport checkpoint. He included in his tweet a photo of his Filipino passport.

At the McAllen/Miller airport, Border Patrol agents stand alongside Transportation Security Administration personnel to check documentation — even for domestic flights.

Jose Antonio Vargas, who has become a symbol of the plight of undocumented immigrants working in the U.S., was being held by Border Patrol agents on Tuesday.

Vargas worked for years as a journalist in the U.S. even though he was an undocumented immigrant. He was part of a team of reporters at the Washington Post that won a Pulitzer Prize in 2008.

He went public about his status as an undocumented immigrant in a 2011 article for the New York Times Magazine. He revealed that he came to the U.S. from the Phillippines in 1993 as a 12-year-old under a fake passport and name. He didn’t realize he was in the country illegally until he was 16.

Vargas directed and wrote "Documented," a film about his life and the immigration debate that aired on CNN last month. He also founded the activist group “Define American.”

Many who gathered here waiting for Vargas’ release said he became a hero to them when he wrote about his plight.

"I feel very sad. How can you call someone a criminal when all he did was help people, the community?" said Nahiely Garcia, 16. "He's a role model. He came here to show support."

Eric Aguilar, 28, said Vargas' story reflects that of many others here.

"Fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters are getting deported everyday on their way to work," said Aguilar. "The attention is on him right now. But this happens everyday here."

A note with respect to the last sentence in the above article: Everyday in the U.S.A. , many U.S.A. citizens have to worry about their next meal, where they might sleep at that night and so forth, but these illegal invaders don't want to mention that in their pleas to continue their invasion.

Sheila Jackson Lee Brings Lollipops to Illegals, Says Border Crisis Not National Security Threat

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) believes the border crisis is not a national security threat, despite gangsters having already been apprehended along the United States-Mexico border.

In fact, Jackson Lee waved a bag of lollipops during a Thursday House Homeland Security Field Hearing in McAllen, Texas, and said she took bags of such lollipops to the illegal immigrant children in detention centers during recent visits.

"This is not a national security crisis," Jackson Lee emphasized, noting that she was not armed and did not fear for her life when visiting the children. Jackson Lee said Border Patrol agents claimed the children were some of the most "orderly" and "behaved" children they have encountered.

Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA), however, said that the "first priority" of the federal government is to protect the American people, and he was "not convinced that we know enough about the children that are here" to believe they will do no harm.

Barletta stated that illegal immigrants are flooding across the border because of the Obama administration's non-enforcement of the country's immigration laws. He warned that if those seeking to do harm sneak across the border, "innocent Americans" will be the ones who "pay that price."

Patriot nurse blocks Obama's illegals

"I'm inspired because I love America!"

SAN DIEGO – Early in America’s history, citizens took to the streets in protests, or even blockades, if their elected officials dared ignore them.

But today, small-town mayors are standing down as the federal government dumps thousands of sick and dangerous illegal aliens on them with no resources to help and no ability to enforce the laws that would repatriate them to their home countries.

“It’s lawlessness,” said Patrice Lynes, a nurse and organizer of the Murrieta, California, blockade that caused a planned illegal-alien drop-off in her city to be turned back Tuesday.

One hundred protestors prevented the bus carrying mostly children from entering the holding facility where they were to be dropped.

Lynes told WND that when she heard about the scheduled drops, she knew laws were already on the books that made the federal government’s actions an illegal activity.

After speaking with friends, Lynes and others decided to stage demonstrations against the drops in Murrieta and in support of Border Patrol agents who were not being permitted to do their job and enforce the laws. Beginning with only a couple dozen people – mostly moms – and consulting with staffers from the office of Rep. Kevin Calvert, R-Calif., Lynes raised her army of “minutemen” to oppose dumping of illegal aliens in her community.

Lynes’ group targets the federal government’s airline flights as well as its busses.

“Flights arrive every 72 hours” Lynes told WND in an exclusive interview. “We will be there.”

Lynes said she is not confining her protests to her own county only, but is reaching out to other targets of the illegal drops to help others organize the same way citizens did in Murrieta.

She described what she did: “I just called two friends, we got out on the street to warn all the citizens what was happening … then we started to show up at our Border Patrol station to support the Border Patrol, to say we understand that your hands are tied, we know you’re not allowed to enforce the laws, but we want the illegals repatriated to their home countries.”

“I am willing to help whomever wants to do this,” she said. “I’m inspired because I love America!”

Rob Luton, a policy specialist with San Diegans for Secure Borders Coalition told WND the problems are stemming from major policy changes made by the administration.

“There were two policy changes that … facilitated the surge in Texas. That was the deferred action on people who are under a certain age,” said Luton. “They’re not a high priority to be deported. That (information) got circulated down into these countries like Honduras,” so people thought they could just send their children to America, and America would take them all.

“The second item was the potential for … amnesty. So the human smugglers naturally are bringing people up (north) in large numbers, telling them, ‘Even if you don’t get citizenship, they are not going to deport you because of your age.’ That’s why the people coming up are of a specific age,” he said.

“You have heard a lot of misinformation from this administration saying people are coming up because there is crime in those countries. But for 70 years they’ve had crime. That’s nothing new,” said Luton. “Why do you have this surge in the last 90 days?”

The answer, Luton believes, lies in the administration’s unwritten promises meant to attract illegal aliens to the U.S., enticing them with free goods and services from the government with the expectation they will support Democrats in the future.

“Every country should have a standard of protocol for how many people come into the country,” contended Luton. “We allow more people legally in the country than any other nation in the world, and that doesn’t even include the illegals.”

He pointed to the massive costs to the American people, who are already struggling through a bad economy. “There are costs … classroom overcrowding, public benefits, college grants.”

Lynes concurred.

As a nurse she has worked with imported diseases and is concerned the uncontrolled influx of illegal aliens will lead to a massive public-health crisis. Diseases now coming across the border, she said, are a new variety, and in some cases the U.S. doesn’t even have medications to battle the outbreaks that could arise.

“There is regular TB, and there is drug-resistant TB. Both are airborne,” she said. The drug resistant stain will cost more than $100,000 to treat, she warned, and in many cases, people will just die. But the health risk does not stop there.

“There is leprosy,” warned Lynes. “This is highly contagious and not recognizable in its early stages. Then we have all the tropical diseases … swine flu, scabies, lice, polio …”.

As a nurse, Lynes has already spoken with some Border Patrol agents who have been exposed, or are already infected.

“So because the children are not medically screened, the Border Patrol’s job is to do processing. There may be a visual screen,” she said, but her sources told her the new illegals know not to say they have TB.

(Then) … it is too late – the agents are infected.” she said.

The looming health risks explain why Lynes is so passionate about supporting the Border Patrol. As public servants whose job it is to work on the front lines of America’s immigration crisis, she believes it is unjust their hands are tied, and they can’t even do proper health screenings. As a result, they and their families are quickly becoming infected.

Soon schools and communities will have a major health crisis on their hands, Lynes warned.

A government-contracted security force threatened to arrest doctors and nurses if they divulged any information about the contagion threat at a refugee camp housing illegal alien children at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, sources say.

In spite of the threat, several former camp workers broke their confidentiality agreements and shared exclusive details with me about the dangerous conditions at the camp. They said taxpayers deserve to know about the contagious diseases and the risks the children pose to Americans. I have agreed to not to disclose their identities because they fear retaliation and prosecution.

My sources say Americans should be very concerned about the secrecy of the government camps.

“There were several of us who wanted to talk about the camps, but the agents made it clear we would be arrested,” a psychiatric counselor told me. “We were under orders not to say anything.”

The sources said workers were guarded by a security force from the BCFS, which the Department of Health and Human Services hired to run the Lackland Camp.

The sources say security forces called themselves the “Brown Shirts.”

“It was a very submissive atmosphere,” the counselor said. “Once you stepped onto the grounds, you abided by their laws – the Brown Shirt laws.”

She said the workers were stripped of their cellphones and other communication devices. Anyone caught with a phone was immediately fired.

“Everyone was paranoid,” she said. “The children had more rights than the workers.”

She said children in the camp had measles, scabies, chicken pox and strep throat as well as mental and emotional issues.

“It was not a good atmosphere in terms of health,” she said. “I would be talking to children and lice would just be climbing down their hair.”

A former nurse at the camp told me she was horrified by what she saw.

“We have so many kids coming in that there was no way to control all of the sickness – all this stuff coming into the country,” she said. “We were very concerned at one point about strep going around the base.”

Both the counselor and the nurse said their superiors tried to cover up the extent of the illnesses.

“When they found out the kids had scabies, the charge nurse was adamant – ‘Don’t mention that. Don’t say scabies,’” the nurse recounted. “But everybody knew they had scabies. Some of the workers were very concerned about touching things and picking things up. They asked if they should be concerned, but they were told don’t worry about it.”

The nurse said the lice issue was epidemic – but everything was kept “hush-hush.”

“You could see the bugs crawling through their hair,” she said. “After we would rinse out their hair, the sink would be loaded with black bugs.”

The nurse told me she became especially alarmed because their files indicated the children had been transported to Lackland on domestic charter buses and airplanes.

“That’s what alerted me,” she said. “Oh, my God. They’re flying these kids around. Nobody knows that these children have scabies and lice. To tell you the truth, there’s no way to control it.”

I don't mean to upset anyone's Independence Day vacation plans, but were these kids transported to the camps before or after they were deloused? Anyone who flies the friendly skies could be facing a public health concern.

The counselor told me the refugee camp resembled a giant emergency room – off limits to the public.

“They did not want the community to know,” she said. “I initially spoke out at Lackland because I had a concern the children’s mental health care was not being taken care of.”

She said the breaking point came when camp officials refused to hospitalize several children who were suicidal.

“I made a recommendation that a child needed to be sent to a psychiatric unit,” the counselor told me. “He was reaching psychosis. He was suicidal. Instead of treating him, they sent him off to a family in the United States.”

She said she filed a Child Protective Services report and quit her job.

“I didn’t want to lose my license if this kid committed suicide,” she told me. “I was done.”

The counselor kept a detailed journal about what happened during her tenure at the facility.

“When people read that journal they are going to be astonished,” she said. ‘I don’t think they will believe what is going on in America.”

So it was not a great surprise, she said, when she received a call from federal agents demanding that she return to the military base and hand over her journal.

She said she declined to do so.

“I didn’t go back to Lackland,” she said.

Both workers told me while they have no regrets, they want to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals.

“They’re going to crush the system,” the nurse told me. “We can’t sustain this. They are overwhelming the system and I think it’s a travesty.”

BCFS spokeswoman Krista Piferrer tells me the agency takes “any allegation of malfeasance or inappropriate care of a child very seriously.”

“There are a number of checks and balances to ensure children are receiving appropriate and adequate mental health care,” she said.

Piferrer said the clinicians are supervised by a federal field specialist from HHS’s Office of Refugee Resettlement. She also said BCFS have 58 medical professionals serving at Lackland.

“Every illness, whether it is a headache or something more serious, is recorded in a child’s electronic medical record and posted on WebEOC – a real-time, web-based platform that is visible to not only BCFS but the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services,” she said.

As for those brown shirts, the BCFS said they are “incident management team personnel” – who happen to wear tan shirts.

My sources say Americans should be very concerned about the secrecy of the government camps.

“This is just the beginning,” one source told me. "It is a long-term financial responsibility.”

Homeland Security Confirms They’re Paying to Ship and Release Illegals "in the interior"

The Department of Homeland Security is now openly admitting they’re using taxpayer funds to ship illegal immigrants anywhere in the country they want to go, confirming Infowars reports that federal agencies are standing down from enforcing border security and instead escorting scores of Central American immigrants deeper inside the US.

The AP reports the Obama administration knows it is letting illegals go free, but is refusing to disclose any actual figures:

The Obama administration has released into the U.S. an untold number of immigrant families caught traveling illegally from Central America in recent months — and although the government knows how many it’s released, it won’t say publicly.

The AP goes on to note immigrants, hailing primarily from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, who survived the perilous journey to the U.S. “cannot be immediately repatriated, so the government has been releasing them into the U.S. interior and telling them to report within 15 days to the nearest U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement offices.”

The admission underscores Infowars’ reportage over the past week detailing how federal border agencies have been issued a top-down order to stand down, effectively surrendering control of the U.S. southern border to the overwhelming flood of illegal immigrants. The AP estimates “The figure is widely believed to exceed 40,000 since October. It’s believed to be slightly below the roughly 52,000 children caught traveling illegally from Central America over the same period..”

Last week, Infowars exclusively reported US church groups were aiding the surge of illegal immigrants by providing them temporary shelter, clothing, food and in some cases legal advice.

Shortly thereafter, McAllen Emergency Management Coordinator Kevin Pagan confirmed to Infowars the US Border Patrol was indeed dropping illegal immigrants off at a bus station in McAllen, Texas, complete with vouchers and bus tickets to travel “somewhere in the interior [of the U.S.]” in anticipation of set immigration court hearings.

“They’re not bringing them here, they’re bringing them to our bus terminals because that’s where the Border Patrol understands that they have transportation to go to the interior,” Pagan stated. “So they’re dropping them off and it’s our understanding that they were dropped off with tickets or with vouchers for tickets, but it turns out that some of them tonight didn’t have their tickets or their vouchers for tickets, or like I said their buses are tomorrow, so they have no where to stay.”

The city official’s statements added veracity to a Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol agent whistleblower’s accounts of lax border security. Earlier this month, a border agent contacted Infowars on the condition of anonymity and expressed concerns his agency was being asked to release immigrants in largely-Hispanic populated South Texas towns.

“In the RGV, we have been releasing aliens, through ICE, in Brownsville, Texas and McAllen, Texas,” the agent told Infowars. “We have been ordered to go out of our way to bus them to those locations for release because they are cities of mostly Hispanic heritage, so fewer people will notice or care. We have been doing that for months before the stories broke in Phoenix, Arizona a couple of weeks ago.”

Evidence of DHS collusion in, and premeditation of the catch and release program was further compounded by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement solicitation posted at the FedBizOpps website. A request seeking “Escort Services for Unaccompanied Alien Children” read, “ICE is seeking the services of a responsible vendor that shares the philosophy of treating all UAC [Unaccompanied Alien Children] with dignity and respect, while adhering to standard operating procedures and policies that allow for an effective, efficient, and incident free transport.”

The latest AP report also dovetails with sentiments put forth by ICE union boss Chris Crane at a House Judiciary Committee hearing last year, where he lodged complaints about the lawlessness behind the “nation’s broken immigration system.”

“ICE has essentially prohibited its agents from enforcing” immigration law, Crane stated.

“What message do ICE practices send to the world?” Crane asked. “The message is: ‘We don’t enforce our laws, come on over, and if you do get caught, just lie to us. Lie about the day and year you entered, lie about going to high school, you won’t be required to prove anything.’

“Without investigation, without requiring the alien to provide a diploma or a transcript, the alien will simply be released under DACA [deferred action for childhood arrivals] without first proving he even qualifies for it.”
Infowars has also reported that aliens who are detained are not screened for communicable diseases, and that some of the aliens being released into the US have admitted to being former gang members.

MCALLEN, TX - There’s a growing health concern with hundreds of illegal immigrants crossing over into southern Texas.

U.S. Border Patrol agents are worried that what's coming over into the U.S. could harm everyone.

This time the focus is not on the women and children that are crossing over in droves.

Agents are worrying about a viral outbreak.

“We are sending people everywhere. The average person doesn't know what's going on down here,” said Border Patrol agent and Rio Grande Valley Union representative Chris Cabrera.

Cabrera says agents are seeing illegal immigrants come over with contagious infections.

Detention centers and holding facilities have quarantined areas for those who come in sick. But Cabrera says the sick and healthy are separated only by caution tape.

“There's been an outbreak of scabies that's been going on for the past month,” Cabrera said.

Texas border resident Jorge Garcia says word about the contagious skin infection is getting around.

“Our Border Patrol agents check on us all the time and they told us about the outbreak of scabies,” Garcia said.

Cabrera says the sickness doesn't stop at scabies.

“We are starting to see chicken pox, MRSA staph infections, we are starting to see different viruses,” Cabrera said.

Garcia believes the viruses are not confined to the detention center. Not long ago, a group of border-crossers came knocking on his door.

“It was a 7-month-old baby. It was shaking, it had a fever,” Garcia said.

The Department of Homeland Security called in Coast Guard medics to help treat those who are sick. But Cabrera doesn't believe the federal government is doing enough. He says other Border Patrol agents have contracted scabies and he fears it will spread quickly.

“It's contagious, we are transporting people to different parts of the state and different parts of the country,” Cabrera said.

“Just the fact we are exposed to it, and so is everyone here in south Texas, it's a great concern to us,” Garcia said.

It's unclear how many were treated for illness.

DHS has denied all requests for interviews with doctors and medical staff treating sick immigrants. The agency has also turned down our request for a tour.

They only released this statement:

DHS has public health controls in place to minimize any possible health risks. Throughout the RGV Sector we are conducting public health screens on all incoming detainees to screen for any symptoms of contagious diseases of possible public health concern. U.S. Border Patrol has established Medical Units at its busiest border stations (McAllen, Weslaco, and Ft Brown) handling UAC. US Coast Guard medical teams are assisting with the screening process, and providing healthcare evaluations for the sick and injured.

Occupational health and safety guidance has been provided to for CBP personnel in the handling of subjects with signs of health-related symptoms. Our workforce has been provided and encouraged to use personal protective gear including latex or non-latex gloves, long-sleeve shirts, and to take precaution including frequent hand washing.

DHS document: 68,000 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions released in 2013

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials last year released 68,000 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions, undercutting Democratic claims that President Obama has strictly enforced immigration laws.

An internal Department of Homeland Security document compiling statistics on arrests and deportations in 2013 showed that ICE agents encountered 193,357 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions but issued charging documents for only 125,478. More than 67,800 were released.

The data came from an end-of-year “Weekly Departures and Detention Report.”

The Center for Immigration Studies, a research group that favors stricter enforcement of immigration laws, estimates ICE agents released more than a third of illegal immigrants with criminal records they detained.

“ICE released 68,000 criminal aliens in 2013, or 35 percent of the criminal aliens encountered by officers. The vast majority of these releases occurred because of the Obama administration’s prosecutorial discretion policies,” Jessica Vaughn, director of policy studies at the Center for Immigration Studies, wrote in a memo summarizing the DHS document.

ICE classifies illegal immigrants as criminal if they have been convicted of a crime, not including traffic offense, Vaughn noted.

Sen. Jeff Sessions (Ala.), the ranking Republican on the Budget Committee, blasted the administration’s record.

“The preponderance of the evidence demonstrates that immigration enforcement in America has collapsed. Even those with criminal convictions are being released. DHS is a department in crisis,” he said in a statement Sunday.

“Secretary Johnson must reject the president’s demands to weaken enforcement further and tell him that his duty, and his officers’ duty, is to enforce the law – not break it,” he added in reference to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson.

A spokeswoman for ICE did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Advocacy groups on both sides of the immigration debate have fired salvos back and forth over Obama’s track record enforcing the law.

Republicans say they cannot trust Obama to enforce the law and Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) cited that as an obstacle to passing immigration reform through the House.

Pro-immigrant groups argue Obama has enforced the law too zealously.

Janet Murguía, the president of the National Council of La Raza, called Obama the “deporter-in-chief” earlier this month.

Senate Democrats such as Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) have called on Obama to halt the deportations of illegal immigrants who are immediate family members of U.S. citizens.

The Center for Immigration Studies reports that ICE officials moved to deport 28 percent fewer illegal immigrants from the interior of the country in 2013 than in 2012.

The group obtained the law enforcement records through a lawsuit.

Two Austin men have been charged in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 13-year-old female.

"I think it's really sick. It's a lot of kids in this area, a lot of kids," said Shaneequa Jupiter, who has two kids living with her at the Avalon Palms Apartments in the 9300 block of Northgate Boulevard. "I have a boy and a girl."

Her daughter is the same age as the 13 year-old victim, who tells police she was sexually assaulted by 10 to 13 men at apartment 292, which overlooks the pool.

Austin police reports show on June 29, the 13 year-old girl ran away from the Settlement Home, a transitional living facility that also provides foster care.

She was approached by three Hispanic men in a white car near the intersection of Payton Gin Road and Galewood Drive, and then brought to the Avalon Palms Apartments.

Two men have been arrested, police say for their involvement, 24 year-old Juan Lozano Ortega and 26-year-old Edgar Gerardo Guzman Perez.

The teen victim tells police she was taken inside an apartment, where Ortega forced himself on her as the other men cheered him on, recording the assault on their cell phones. All the men took turns having sex with her against her will. A forensic exam revealed injuries consistent with her claims.

"It's sad that we can't even let our children go outside...or have them carry pepper spray or knives, at 13, that's sad," said Leticia Rodriguez, another resident at Avalon Palms, which has no security on site or functioning security cameras.

Rodriguez said, "They don't even give us a note or something and say oh, this happened, please be careful with your kids and not let them go out. They don't tell us nothing."

The affidavit states the assault lasted until early into the morning of June 30, then the victim was driven to a nearby neighborhood and told to "find somewhere to go."

Police say they were able to track Ortega and Perez from the phone call the girl made to her foster brother with their cell phone. She was able to make it back on her own to the settlement home.

Neither Austin police nor the Settlement Home is commenting at this time. Management for Avalon Palms Apartments say they will be releasing flyers to all tenants informing them of this incident soon.

On Wednesday, police in Austin arrested two Mexican nationals who reportedly participated in the gang-rape of a 13-year-old girl on June 29.

The girl, a runaway, who lives at the Settlement Home for Children, was picked up by three Latino men and driven to the Avalon Arms apartments, where she was raped by a large group of men for several hours, according to police.

As many as 13 men took turns sexually assaulting the girl. Many cheered and filmed the sickening crime on their cell phones, according to court documents.

Juan Lozano Ortega, 25, and Edgar Gerardo Guzman Perez, 26, have been charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. Both are currently being held in the Travis County Jail on immigration detainers.

KTBC reported:

The affidavit states the assault lasted until early into the morning of June 30, then the victim was driven to a nearby neighborhood and told to "find somewhere to go."
Police say they were able to track Ortega and Perez from the phone call the girl made to her foster brother with their cell phone. She was able to make it back on her own to the settlement home.

The girl was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors determined her injuries were consistent with her allegations.

Austin police are currently searching for the other assailants.

Since this reporter began documenting the crimes committed by illegal aliens, often times friends and family will ask the question "What is the worst one you've heard of?"

While there are far too many "worst ones" to name, or to even rank in any sort, as all have caused untold suffering to the victims as well as their families, one incredibly heinous crime which received no media attention does come to mind...

In May 2010, Joel Eliazar Ortega, 30, was sentenced to life in prison by Washoe County District Judge Patrick Flanagan, after the illegal alien pleaded guilty to raping a paralyzed woman.

On Oct. 30, 2009, Ortega approached the victim, who suffers from cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheelchair, grabbed the chair's handles and wheeled her into an alley behind a shopping center on North McCarran Boulevard, brutally assaulting her.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Bruce Hahn told the court:

She was dragged from her wheelchair, her clothes taken off, sexually assaulted and then left lying in an alley.

Ortega fled the scene, leaving the helpless woman lying nude in the alley.

That same day, Reno police responded to a domestic abuse call at a nearby apartment building, and discovered Ortega, who fit the description of the rapist.

The victim then identified Ortega as her assailant.

Judge Flanagan told Ortega: "You are a danger...you are lucky there is only one life sentence I can impose in this case."

Of course, there are many other cases, in which children as young as infants have been raped and murdered by illegal aliens, and while all cases may differ in their severity, all crimes committed by illegal aliens share one identical property...they are all ignored by the mainstream press.

Since President Obama's announcement of last year's executive order, basically putting a halt to nearly all deportations, combined with the amnesty bill currently making its way through the U.S. Senate, there has been a tremendous increase in the number of illegal aliens coming to this country over our largely unprotected border with Mexico.

Of course, an increase in the number of crimes committed by those same illegal aliens has seemingly exploded during this same period. In particular, instances of rape and child molestation at the hands of those here illegally have reached epidemic proportions.

The following list represents only a few of those crimes that have taken place in the last month, alone:

-On May 28, German Rolando Vicente-Sapon, 41, was sentenced in Tennessee to 15 years and six months in federal prison for smuggling a minor into the country for criminal purposes, coercing a minor and importing an alien for an immoral purpose.

Vicente-Sapon is one of many human smugglers known as "romeo traffickers." These Mexican and Central American men bring young, poor girls to the United States with promises of love, and instead force them into prostitution upon arrival.

-On May 23, Reynaldo Garcia, 23, was indicted by a Jefferson Parish (La.) grand jury for raping a young girl over a nearly two-year period, beginning when the victim was only 12-years-old. The Guatemalan national raped the girl on about 20 separate occasions, according to court documents.

The victim reportedly contracted a sexually transmitted disease from Garcia.

Garcia has been charged with aggravated rape and is currently being held in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.

-On May 20, police in Novato (Calif.) arrested Salvador Arias, 18, after he reportedly raped a 13-year-old girl in a public park in March.

Arias has been charged with rape with a foreign object, performing a lewd and lascivious act on a child, oral copulation by force, false imprisonment and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

-On May 20, police in Volusia County (Fla.) arrested Eduardo Rodriguez after he reportedly broke into a home and tried to rape a 16-year-old girl as she slept.

-On May 15, police in Decatur, Ala., arrested Jose Luis Rodriguez-Solis after he reportedly raped a 9-year-old girl earlier this year.

Rodriguez-Solis is currently being held in the Morgan County Jail on an immigration detainer.

-On May 16, police in Smyrna, Georgia, arrested Jose Alberto Dealmonte, 25, after he reportedly raped a 7-year-old girl several times, beginning last year.

Dealmonte has been charged with rape, child molestation and cruelty to children in the first degree. He is currently being held in the Smyrna City Jail on an immigration detainer.

-On May 16, Whatcom County (Wash.) Superior Court Judge Charles Snyder sentenced Luis Gonzalez-Jose, 31, to six years in prison for raping a young girl.

The rape occurred in June 2012, at the victim's home while her mother was in the shower.

Gonzalez-Jose asked the girl "if it was OK to have a baby with him," according to court documents.

The child said it was not, at which time he stripped her clothes off and raped her, reported Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Elizabeth Gallery.

She became pregnant as a result of the rape.

-On May 16, police in Orem, Utah, arrested Alexander Navidad-Hernandez, 27, and Javier Santos-Jacobo, 27, after they reportedly tried to convince two sisters, ages 14 and 16, to have sex with them for $30.

A day earlier, one of the suspects pulled-up next to the girls as they walked home, handed them a $5 bill, along with his phone number and told them to call him if they wanted to make some money, according to police.

Both are in the country illegally from El Salvador.

-On May 10, Yanira del Carmen Guerrero Andrade, 28, was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for forcing a 15-year-old, pregnant runaway into prostitution for the violent Latin American gang known as MS-13.

In a press release, U.S. Attorney Neil H. MacBride stated:

On the first day the victim was trafficked, she was trafficked to approximately 15 customers, and on the third day she was trafficked to 25 customers. Several customers requested the victim specifically because she appeared underage.

Guerrero Andrade is in the country illegally from El Salvador.

-On May 6, police in Jackson, Tenn., arrested Delmer Lainez Lasandro, 24, after he reportedly raped a 16-year-old girl.

Lasandro has been charged with with rape and sexual battery. He is currently being held at the Madison County Jail on an immigration detainer.

-On May 2, Maury County (Tenn.) sheriff's deputies arrested Yelsin A. Cruz, 20, after he reportedly raped his girlfriend's 8-year-old daughter.

Apparently, the victim's mother actually tried to cover-up the attack, in order to protect her boyfriend.

The Daily Herald reported:

The doctor said the child’s mother, who had brought her to the ER, “was not sure how the child had been injured,” the report said. The mother then told the investigating officer that her daughter had said she “fell on a swing set,” then “changed her story and said that she fell on a stick and that is how she was injured,” the report continued.

The mother then said the girl “told the staff of the ER that she fell on a plant and injured herself,” the report said.

-On May 1, Eufilio Hernandez Gomez, 26, pleaded guilty to raping an 11-year-old girl in Pittsburg County, Okla. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Gomez was previously deported in 2011 after committing an assault, but easily made his way back into the United States.

The most troubling and telling reason behind the growing epidemic of child molestation at the hands of illegal aliens, may lie in the fact the age of sexual consent throughout the majority of Mexico is 12 years of age.

Article 261 of Mexico's Federal Criminal Code states:

”Whoever, without the purpose of reaching copulation, performs a sexual act on a person under 12 or on a person that has no capacity of understanding the meaning of the act or that for any reason cannot resist, or demands that the act is performed, will be punished with a term of 2 to 5 years in prison.”

In addition to Mexico City, the age of consent is 12 in the following Mexican states:

The age of consent is 15 in Mexico state, 13 in Yucatan and Zacatecas, the age of consent is actually listed as "puberty" in Nayarit and 14 in the seven remaining Mexican states.

Unfortunately, the culture of having sex with young girls is carried with many Mexican men as they cross into this country (illegally).

An example of this attitude can be found in Mexican national Diego Lopez-Mendez, who pleaded guilty in 2006 to sexually assaulting a 10-year-old West Virginia girl. Through an interpreter, he told the court: "In the pueblo where I grew up girls are usually married by 13 years old…I was unaware of the nature of the offense or that it was a bad crime."

More recently, Canyon County (Ida.) Judge Thomas Ryan sentenced Francisco Perez-Orozco, 51, to 15 years in prison, on May 29, after a jury found the Mexican national guilty of sexual battery of a child.

“The Defendant has demonstrated an utter disregard for the laws of our country,” said Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Erica Kallin. “He doesn’t seem to understand you cannot touch a child in a sexual way. This sentence ensures the community is protected and sends a message to Mr. Perez-Orozco we will protect the children in our community.”

In order to bring charges of rape in most Mexican states, the law basically requires that the girl prove that she is a virgin (the law states that only those who seduce "chaste and honest" girls shall be prosecuted), and that the charge of statutory rape be dropped if the rapist wishes to marry his victim.

Of course, when discussing the issue of illegal immigration, this dirty little secret is never talked about by our politicians, nor is the impact that such an attitude towards the abuse of children could have on this nation by offering amnesty to millions of Mexican nationals.

During a recent conversation with Tea Party Immigration Coalition founder and former Pennsylvania State Representative John Stahl, this reporter was reminded of what could be a looming disaster for this nation's children.

Stahl said:

If this new amnesty bill passes through Congress and becomes law, the chain migration clause, that allows each of the amnestied illegal aliens to bring in four or five family members...We simply don't have enough cops or courts to deal with this, and it would basically be 'open-season' on our kids.

While the mainstream press does seem to have lost some of their blind loyalty to Obama, as of late, the ongoing war being waged against this country's children is actually the biggest scandal of all against this administration and their lawless attitude towards border security.

How much longer can the press simply ignore this human rights crisis occurring right here, within our own borders?

Is there not one person of conscience left in the national news media?

In recent years, the illegal alien population in North Carolina has exploded thanks to 'sanctuary policies' in several cities and counties throughout the state.

Most recently, the welcome mat was made even larger for those who enter this country illegally by the Tarheel State, when the North Carolina DMV began issuing driver's licenses to illegal aliens.

Of course, these decisions and disastrous policies have been made over the very loud objections of many North Carolinians. However, as is so often the case, the desire for cheap labor and commerce has trumped the rule of law and the safety of the citizens.

Not surprisingly, as with any location that has a large concentration of Mexican and Central American illegal aliens, the children are truly paying the price for that so-called 'cheap labor.'

A very cursory search turned up the following sex crimes against children, in which an illegal alien has either been charged or convicted in North Carolina in the first 10 days of March 2013, alone:

-Suspect: Francisco Jose Perez Santiago, 20

Charge(s): First-degree statutory rape and indecent liberties with a child

Victim: 12-year-old girl

Location: Cleveland County

On March 10, The Gaston Gazzette reported:

A judge sentenced Santiago to 16 to 24 years in prison. Santiago also received a one- to two-year suspended sentence that could be activated if he violates probation after completing his prison sentence.

Assistant District Attorney Beth Lari said Santiago had moved into the home with the girl and her mother as a roommate.

"Within a few weeks of moving in, he began to sexually assault the 12-year-old daughter," Lari said.

Lari said the girl told her mother and she was taken to Kings Mountain Hospital not long after the assault.

"(The doctor) located physical evidence of sexual assault, Kings Mountain Police Department interviewed the victim and picked up the suspect," Lari said. "He confessed to sexual acts with a child."

-Suspect: Jose Guadalupe Ramirez-Ambriz, 38

Charges: First-degree sex offense with a child under 13 and indecent liberties with a minor

Victim: Girl under 13-years of age

Location: Alamance County

On March 8, The Times-News reported:

Jose Guadalupe Ramirez-Ambriz, 38, is wanted on multiple counts of first-degree sex offense with a child under 13 and indecent liberties with a minor. He’s being sought by detectives with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force.

Ramirez-Ambriz’s last known address was on Calloway Drive in Mebane. He is also known as Jose Ramires and Jose Guadalupe.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, detectives initiated an investigation after receiving a report from the Alamance County Department of Social Services. The report came after the DSS received information about the alleged offenses from a school counselor. The alleged victim is a female younger than 13.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Ramirez-Ambriz has arrest histories in Alamance and Johnston counties, as well as in Hendersonville. He was also arrested in both Oregon and Utah.

-Suspect: Francisco Vasquez-Garcia, 44

Charge(s): First-degree rape, four counts of statutory rape and two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child

Victim: 13-year-old girl

Location: Cary

On March 6, The News-Observer reported:

Police have charged a 44-year-old man with two counts of first-degree rape, four counts of statutory rape and two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child.

Francisco Vasquez-Garcia was being held at the Wake County Detention Center in lieu of $6.1 million bail.

In an arrest report, police said Vasquez-Garcia lives at 202 Hickory St. in the McSwain Mobile Home Park and works as a cook at a restaurant.

The first-degree rape charges both involve the same girl when she was younger than 13.

Papers filed with the charges say he was arrested on the Texas-Mexico border on a charge of being in the country illegally and that he is from El Salvador.

-Suspect: Luis Eduardo Sanchez, 33

Charge(s): Statutory rape, statutory sexual offense and one count of indecent liberties with a child

Victim: 14-year-old girl

Location: Onslow County

On March 5, WCTI 12 reported:

Luis Eduardo Sanchez, 33, of Wilmington Highway in Jacksonville, and Alonzo Lee Davenport, 39, of Picket Road in Jacksonville, were arrested on March 4.

According to Onslow County deputies, the suspects picked up a 14-year-old runaway on Wilmington Highway in November of last year. The suspects then allegedly took her to a home, where they sexually assaulted her.

Sanchez and Davenport were each charged for one count of statutory rape of a person who is 14 years old, one count of statutory sexual offense of a person who is 14 years old, and one count of indecent liberties with a child. Both suspects were held under $200,000 secured bonds.

-Suspect: Jorge Alberto Juarez-Lopez, 38

Charge(s): Statutory rape, rape, first degree sexual offense child

Victim: 6-year-old girl

Location: Durham County

On March 2, Juarez-Lopez was charged with raping his own 6-year-old daughter. He is currently being held in the Durham County Jail on an immigration detainer.

House Green Lights Driver’s Licenses For Undocumented Immigrants

Connecticut voters may not be ready according to polling data, but that didn’t stop the House from pushing forward with a vote on a bill that would give undocumented immigrants the ability to obtain a driver’s license.

After more than seven hours of debate the House passed the measure on a 74-55 vote around 5:45 a.m.

For some it was an issue of public safety. For others it was an indication that the federal government needs to move faster toward comprehensive immigration reform.

Rep. Juan Candelaria, D-New Haven, introduced the bill. He said the legislation is about public safety and bringing the immigrant community out of the shadows.

As of 2010, nearly 120,000 unauthorized immigrants resided in Connecticut, according to a study conducted by the Pew Research Center. About 54,000 of them currently drive on Connecticut roads without documentation, according to research by the Jerome N. Frank Legal Services Organization at Yale Law School.

The bill would give undocumented immigrants living in the state for more than 90 days the option to apply for a driver’s license. The application process would include a sworn affidavit to seek U.S. citizenship. If an individual was convicted of a felony in the state of Connecticut, they would not be allowed to receive a license.The license would be renewed every three years as opposed to every six years for U.S. citizens.

A Republican amendment to expand the felony background checks to include more than just the state of Connecticut failed.

Candelaria said the bill is about the child who testified in March at Wilbur Cross High School and said he’s fearful for his mother who drives and is undocumented. He said the child’s biggest fear was becoming homeless if his mother was arrested and deported.

Republican lawmakers who said they wanted to allow undocumented workers get their licenses questioned Candelaria for more than seven hours about residency requirements, background checks, and insurance requirements.

Not one person spoke against measure at that five-hour public hearing before the Transportation Committee. But none of the four bills proposed made it through the committee, forcing proponents to tack it onto a generic motor vehicle bill.

The partisan divide over the bill stood in stark contrast to a vote earlier in the day that would prohibit, under some circumstances, any law enforcement officer in the state from telling U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that they detained an undocumented immigrant. That bill cleared the House 132-0 with less than a half-hour of debate Wednesday.

House Minority Lawrence Cafero, R-Norwalk, was not pleased with how the bill was developed or the process by which it ended up on the House floor Wednesday evening.

Cafero said he asked Candelaria if he could work on the bill with him. He suggested that the legislature form a task force and study the issue until next legislative session. He argued it could still be implemented by the 2015 date in the bill debated Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Cafero said his proposition was rejected.

Candelaria said the bill is about public safety. He said it is anticipated that there will be a reduction in the number of violations for driving without a license. In 2012, there were 742 violations for driving without a license that generated $84,000 in revenue.

But Cafero said that by not giving Republicans a seat at the table, it became a political issue and “that stinks because there are a lot of people here who want to do this and do it the right way.”

He questioned an appearance by Democratic State Central Committee Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo and DSCC Executive Director Jonathan Harris. A spokesman for House Speaker Brendan Sharkey said the duo were not at the Capitol to speak about this legislation, a statement Harris confirmed Thursday morning.

“We would say we are disappointed in Rep. Cafero and the House for opposing such a common sense public safety policy, but it comes as little surprise since the CT GOP is more a Party of Gov. Scott Walker, Gov. Rick Perry and Rush Limbaugh than of Yankee Republicans like Prescott Bush,” Harris said.

But Cafero said “this is all about votes and politics.”

On the public policy side, Cafero argued that there still isn’t enough information about the number of people this bill would impact and what it would cost the state to hire new Department of Motor Vehicle workers to handle the licensing. He said the study would give the members of the legislature time to educate themselves and the public about this issue. But proponents felt that was an attempt to slow the process.

“The federal law is broken,” Cecilio Ceario of St. Rose of Lima Church and CONECT said. “We have many members of our parish that have been here on a work permit for 10 to 20 years and cannot have a license.”

He said these are people who want to register their vehicle and take responsibility for their actions. He said the public would be shocked at how much some undocumented workers have to pay in order to register their vehicles through Connecticut residents.

Ceario was one of a handful of advocates who watched the House vote from the balcony Thursday morning.

“This should be addressed in a comprehensive manner, not a rushed through piece of legislation,” Rep. Richard Smith, R-New Fairfield, said. “The bill is based on a promise, a hope, a prayer and nothing more.”

He said states that have passed similar legislation have mandated registration and the purchase of insurance.

According to the Office of Legislative Research, there are now four states with statutes or regulations that implicitly give undocumented immigrants access to driving privileges: Illinois, New Mexico, Utah, and Washington. Seven states have reversed the decision to give undocumented workers driver’s licenses.

Cafero said the study could be completed before the start of next year’s legislative session and it wouldn’t impact the legislation that is expected to go into effect in January 2015.

But the issue has drawn crowds larger than 2,000 to public hearings on the bill and dozens more to rallies at the state Capitol. There was no organized opposition to the bills.

Sen. Majority Leader Martin Looney, who introduced two of the four bills, has said that undocumented immigrants are going to drive with or without a license.

“Whatever may be your view on federal immigration policy going forward, these individuals are residents of our communities and the question we need to answer is, ‘what policies regarding these residents will best serve the goals of enhanced public safety and sound public policy?’” Looney said in his testimony before the Transportation Committee.

Mayor John DeStefano Jr. who implemented a citywide ID program for undocumented immigrants in 2007, applauded passage of the bill.

“Like the municipal ID, granting immigrants driver licenses regardless of immigration status is good policy,” DeStefano said in a statement.

But voters aren’t quite there yet.

A Quinnipiac University poll in March found that 65 percent of voters oppose giving undocumented immigrants driver’s licenses. Only 31 percent approve of the idea. An unscientific New Haven Independent poll came up with similar results. According to that poll 64.16 percent of more than 3,000 voters oppose the idea and 25.75 percent supported it.

The bill now goes to the Senate.

Hispanic/Latino ILLEGALS have invaded the U.S.A. without any real concern, care or reflection on the harm they are doing to U.S.A. citizens.

The Obama/Soetoro Treasonous administration has welfare agencies and others directing U.S.A. men and women into the sink hole of being welfare dependent, as well as, cutting back on procreating all the while ILLEGALS are given the keys to the U.S.A.. A sickening part of all this is that foreign governments are dictating that their citizens be taken care of which more times than not, are better than U.S.A. citizens receive.

ILLEGALS are being given work in the U.S.A. to kinda give the impression that they are helping and being worth while citizens, but this is only a diversion. The real fact of the matter is that there aren't enough jobs to go around and to cover up the invasion, U.S.A. citizens are either steered as cattle to slaughter by becoming welfare dependent, or being forced to live in the woods, on streets and/or anywhere they can to just survive.

Soup kitchens and/or shelters are in place for U.S.A. citizens, while ILLEGALS steal work and pay to lay their heads in safety, pay for their own food and send money to support their own kind. All of this is being done while U.S.A. are slowly exterminated out of existence.

Set up in place to cater to ILLEGALS is a vast network of 501(c)(3) businesses using taxpayer funds to operate. They range from staffing agencies to free legal services, from special rewards to go to college to catered to medical and dental. All of which U.S.A. citizens DO NOT qualify for.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, filed an amendment on a new immigration bill that would eliminate a path to citizenship for the 11 million illegal immigrants already here.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, a newly elected Republican with a penchant for making headlines, filed an amendment that would bar undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States from ever earning citizenship.

There are an estimated 11 million people living in the country illegally, and a bipartisan immigration reform measure would create a pathway to citizenship over the course of 13 years by requiring those people to pay penalties and back taxes, as well as learn English. Conservatives opposed to reform decry the path as amnesty, but Democrats say they will not support reform that does not cope with the immigrants already living in the U.S.

Cruz also filed amendments that he says would "strengthen border security measures; reform the high-skilled temporary worker program; modernize, streamline and expand legal immigration; and prohibit federal, state or local entitlement benefits for those here illegally."

"The amendments filed today to strengthen border security and reform our legal immigration system will not only bring meaningful, effective improvements to our immigration system, but also have a chance of becoming law," said Cruz in a press release. "America is a nation of immigrants, built by immigrants and we need to honor that heritage by fixing our broken immigration system, while upholding the rule of law and championing legal immigration."

Cruz isn't the only one throwing potential poison pills into the mix. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Pat Leahy, D-Vt., filed a measure that would grant immigration rights to same-sex couples.

If adopted, that amendment would erode Republican support for the carefully crafted compromise.

And while it's highly unlikely the Democratically-controlled committee would adopt Cruz's controversial amendments, Leahy's offering very well could be included.

The committee is set to vote on the amendments Thursday.

Ted Cruz, the Anti-Rubio Who Is Determined to Stop Immigration Reform

The Texas freshman has become the face of the GOP opposition to immigration reform—and that could boost the senator’s prospects in 2016, reports David Catanese.

Three weeks after he was elected to the Senate, Ted Cruz delivered a speech in a dimly lit downtown Washington hotel ballroom addressing the thumping his party had sustained at the ballot box, particularly at the hands of Hispanic voters.

“The issue is not, as the media would suggest, 100 percent about immigration,” the Texas senator told the banquet of conservatives, deriding the press corps’s “obsessive”focus on that issue.

“I think Republicans need to remain a party that supports securing the border and stopping illegal immigration and at the same time welcomes and celebrates, champions legal immigration,” he continued, to thunderclaps from the favorable audience. “It ain’t the answer just to suddenly talk about immigration and forget everything else. I’m going to suggest instead a different path.”

Just as the immigration debate is heating up—and Cruz’s own potential presidential aspirations are coming into sharp focus—the 42-year-old Cuban-American is now looking to make good on his word.

No Republican senator has been a more audacious opponent of the bipartisan approach to immigration than Cruz. And being a freshman who has been a part of the seniority-driven chamber for less than four months makes the play even bolder.

“In my view, any bill that insists upon [a pathway to citizenship] jeopardizes the likelihood of passing any immigration-reform bill,” Cruz told the Senate Judiciary Committee in no uncertain terms last week.

Of course, that’s the central tenet of the legislation—pitting him squarely against the bill’s chief sponsor and fellow Hispanic, Florida Sen.Marco Rubio, also a 2016 presidential contender.

If Rubio is set to become the vaunted hero if the compromise holds, Cruz will be remembered, for better or worse, as the wrecking ball if it crumbles.

Since Ted Cruz took office, some people have accused him of being the new Joseph McCarthy.

Even as Rubio has doggedly tried to frame the package as a “border security” bill—complete with new technology to beef up surveillance of high-risk sections of the 2,000-mile Mexican border—Cruz has sliced it up as yet another government boondoggle filled with false promises.

The Tea Party favorite notes that a mere 58 of the bill’s 844 pages address the border-security component and says the proposed security triggers that will be used to legalize new citizens lack real teeth. “There are no objective metrics in place to ensure any triggers in this bill will be meaningful,” Cruz said after a hearing with Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.

One political adviser to Cruz explained that while the senator has refrained from a full-frontal shelling of immigration reform, it’s highly unlikely he’ll ever get to a place where he can vote “aye.”

If Rubio is set to become the vaunted hero if the compromise holds, Cruz will be remembered—for better or worse—as the wrecking ball if it crumbles.

“Ted really would like to do some real immigration reform in a way that doesn’t alienate Hispanic voters, but the path that they’ve gone down is not something he’s going to support,” said the adviser, who declined to be identified.

“It gives too much control to the Obama administration, allowing them to do studies that he doesn’t believe they have any good intention of doing. The big picture is not a bad sell, it’s when you dive in, that’s where the devil lies. You’ll see Cruz focus on the flaws of the details rather than attacking it on the big picture.”

But while the adviser insisted that Cruz’s position isn’t being calibrated with an eye toward a 2016 White House run, he concedes that being a leader of the opposition to “amnesty” would be helpful in early primary states like South Carolina, where the senator is scheduled to address a state GOP dinner on Friday. National Review reports that Cruz is seriously considering a presidential bid.

The adviser also points out that other reform advocates include John McCain, as well as prominent liberal Democrats such as Chuck Schumer: “I think Marco’s kind of hurt himself here, with the Republican base.” (A Cruz spokeswoman said the senator was too busy for an interview.)

In other words, Cruz in no way wants to be associated with those he sees as the Senate’s “squishes”—a term he recently used to slight some of his Republican colleagues who complained about his aggressive posture during the gun-control debate.

Rubio’s team has every reason to play nice. His playbook throughout the fight has been to engage critics and their concerns constructively—a concerted effort to slowly win, or at least placate, the hearts and minds of the conservative commentariat. There’s no advantage to getting into a public knife fight with the pugnacious and self-assured Cruz, who is building a following with the same grassroots conservatives Rubio will need in a White House campaign.

“We have a ton of respect for Senator Cruz and value his suggestions for how to improve the immigration legislation,” said Rubio spokesman Alex Conant. “We’ve talked a lot with Senator Cruz and his staff and really appreciate their insights. As somebody from a border state with many immigrants, Senator Cruz will have important suggestions for how to help improve the proposal.”

But Cruz’s operation is counting on the entire thing to die, if not in the Senate, then almost surely once it gets to the House. And then Cruz could claim to be the one 2016er who fought comprehensive immigration reform and won.

That would be the textbook play in a Republican primary, based on past experience. Remember the flak that Texas Gov. Rick Perry took last cycle for calling critics of illegal immigrants “heartless”? Or the backlash Newt Gingrich provoked when he declared that longtime undocumented residents should be allowed to remain in the country?

Dan Harvell, a South Carolina GOP county party chairman, said he “totally” agrees with Cruz’s opposition to immigration reform. “I think he’s right, and we don’t need to be so tolerant as many would have us be,” he said.

Yet some Republicans pollsters contend that attitudes in their party are gradually softening, with one recent McLaughlin & Associates survey showing that 66 percent of GOPers support reform that includes a waiting period of several years for those who came here illegally.

“Cruz opposing a security fix that’s needed in immigration reform won’t help,” said John McLaughlin, who conducted the March poll. “On the other hand, if like Sen. Rand Paul he is able to make important changes and helps fix a broken system, he may really boost his standing well beyond his Texas conservative base.”

But some of those who marshal the troops and resources in primary campaigns are not only standing in solidarity with Cruz but notably souring on Rubio.

“I think what Marco Rubio’s doing right now is not how the Senate is supposed to be operated. It’s certainly not deliberative,” said Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots.

Cruz “is asking the tough questions, especially in the hearings,” she said. “He’s doing what he can to force the Senate to be more deliberative. That’s a good thing. And the people in the Tea Party movement appreciate that.”

The Statement of Purpose from the bill read:

“To uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.”

The U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed by the Obama Administration, would have effectively placed a global ban on the import and export of small firearms. The ban would have affected all private gun owners in the U.S., and had language that would have implemented an international gun registry on all private guns and ammo.

Astonishingly, 46 of our United States Senators were willing to give away our Constitutional rights to a foreign power.

A new Heritage Foundation study claims that the economic impact of the so-called "Gang of Eight" immigration bill that'd make 11 million currently illegal immigrants legit would cost a hefty $6.3 trillion, reports FOX.

Social Security, Medicaid, food stamps and other assorted forms of state aid would cost taxpayers dearly, says the conservative think tank, if such a large number of folks became eligible to receive them as a result of the immigration overhaul.

"No matter how you slice it, amnesty will add a tremendous amount of pressure on America's already strained public purse," said Heritage research fellow Robert Rector. "Those who claim that amnesty will not create a large fiscal burden are simply in a state of denial concerning the underlying redistributional nature of government policy."

The study has been accused, however, by libertarians and even some fellow conservatives of neglecting economic gains in favor of more obvious costs to the state. Anti-tax guru Grover Norquist called the study's numbers "vastly overblown," while the American Enterprise Institute's Madeline Zavodny claimed the data overlooked the awesome expense of any alternative plan, such as mass deportation. I am an anti-racism activist... and even I can see the folly of amnesty. It will do nothing but add to the flow of illegal immigration... as it probably is already just on the chance that America will be making citizens of them all. If I were living in Mexico... and I thought I had a chance of becoming a US Citizen... you can bet I'd be hoping that border. I think the only logical way of dealing with illegal immigration is to give them all a time period to exit the country... and then start locking them up and making use of all the Fema camps and put them to work. If they want to come here illegally to work... put them to work for .30 cents an hour in a camp for a year then deport them... if they come back... give them 2 years of the same. Keep adding a year every time they return... and I bet you that flow of illegal immigration cuts down very quickly. We also should be fining the companies and corporations who employ them and entice them to come here for better paying jobs.

BUT... we should also be prepared to pay more for goods and services as a result of that... but it would not be near the expense we as a country are facing because of them.

Has anyone ever considered the Mexican governments role in this? It has completely failed it people to the point it's citizens are forced to leave their homes and move here. Why doesn't anyone ever question them about their violation of human rights?
Mexico has the natural resources to be a very wealthy nation. Instead we are saddled with the cost of taking care of Mexico's problem.

Right! They need to fix their own country and make it better to live in, instead of coming here and just destroying this one as well. Mexico has the opportunity to become a wealthy and prosperous nation, especially since they are booming in certain areas due to NAFTA. They just need to get a more independent attitude and get their corruption under control, instead of bringing the corruption here.

Seriously interesting! With everything we've had in common throughout the years, I've often wondered why Mexico wouldn't entertain a merger offer from America. The benefits could be staggering.

@twinertia Maybe they're worried about losing their heritage/cultural identity. I dunno why that would be, because generally we go out of our way to celebrate every aspect of our mix of cultures, and especially along our southern border not much would change as it is. Perhaps it's a pride thing, maybe joining us would be considered admitting defeat, or maybe its people are so beaten down by crime and its officials are so corrupt that no one would ever propose it or vote for it.

U.S.A. Citizens face Racial Bias as Farms/Employers favor Immigrants: Legal and ILLEGAL

U.S.A. citizens are being refused work in their own country and misleading, misguiding and/or erroneous excuses are being given to support an invading force of people who DO NOT support the Constitution of the United States of America and who lack concern for the harm being down against U.S.A. citizens.

Could it be that the banks, the Department of Agriculture and Academia, as well as, the greed of business owners/shareholders are to blame for U.S.A. citizens being refused work in their own country?

The real price of food by which these people called immigrants is far higher than what is being paid for at the check out. If the actual figures are added in which taxpayers give to programs such as the Finger Lakes Migrant Health Care Program (FLMHCP) and Farm Worker Legal Aid, to name just a few, the actual cost of food is alarmingly high.

An employee of FLMHCP married a worker who was thought to of been in the U.S.A. ILLEGALLY, then shortly after the marriage, they divorced. He now works for FLMHCP.

There are a multitude of programs funded by U.S.A. taxpayers which receives millions upon millions of taxpayers funds to support and/or take care of - often far better than U.S.A. citizens - those in the U.S.A. legally and ILLEGALLY.

VIDALIA, Ga. — For years, labor unions and immigrant rights activists have accused large-scale farmers, like those harvesting sweet Vidalia onions here this month, of exploiting Mexican guest workers. Working for hours on end under a punishing sun, the pickers are said to be crowded into squalid camps, driven without a break and even cheated of wages.

But as Congress weighs immigration legislation expected to expand the guest worker program, another group is increasingly crying foul — Americans, mostly black, who live near the farms and say they want the field work but cannot get it because it is going to Mexicans. They contend that they are illegally discouraged from applying for work and treated shabbily by farmers who prefer the foreigners for their malleability.

“They like the Mexicans because they are scared and will do anything they tell them to,” said Sherry Tomason, who worked for seven years in the fields here, then quit. Last month she and other local residents filed a federal lawsuit against a large grower of onions, Stanley Farms, alleging that it mistreated them and paid them less than it paid the Mexicans.

The suit is one of a number of legal actions containing similar complaints against farms, including a large one in Moultrie, Ga., where Americans said they had been fired because of their race and national origin, given less desirable jobs and provided with fewer work opportunities than Mexican guest workers. Under a consent decree with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the farm, Southern Valley, agreed to make certain changes.

With local unemployment about 10 percent and the bureaucracy for hiring foreigners onerous — guest workers have to be imported and housed and require extensive paperwork — it would seem natural for farmers to hire from their own communities, which they did a generation ago.

In fact, the farmers say, they would dearly like to.

“We have tried to fill our labor locally,” said Brian Stanley, an owner of Stanley Farms, which is being sued by Ms. Tomason and others. “But we couldn’t get enough workers, and that was hindering our growth. So we turned to the guest worker program.”

The vast majority of farm workers in the country are not in the guest worker program but are simply unauthorized immigrants. The plan to place those workers on a path to legal status would reduce the chances of their being exploited, the bill’s sponsors say, and thereby also improve the status of Americans who feel they cannot compete against vulnerable foreigners.

Mr. Stanley, like other farmers, argues that Americans who say they want the work end up quitting because it is hard, leaving the crops to rot in the fields. But the situation is filled with cultural and racial tensions.

Even many of the Americans who feel mistreated acknowledge that the Mexicans who arrive on buses for a limited period are incredibly efficient, often working into the night seven days a week to increase their pay.

“We are not going to run all the time,” said Henry Rhymes, who was fired — unfairly, he says — from Southern Valley after a week on the job. “We are not Mexicans.”

Jon Schwalls, director of operations at Southern Valley, made a similar point.

“When Jose gets on the bus to come here from Mexico he is committed to the work,” he said. “It’s like going into the military. He leaves his family at home. The work is hard, but he’s ready. A domestic wants to know: What’s the pay? What are the conditions? In these communities, I am sorry to say, there are no fathers at home, no role models for hard work. They want rewards without input.”

Such generalizations lead lawyers — and residents — to say there are racist undertones to the farms’ policies.

“I am not arguing that agricultural work is a good job,” said Dawson Morton, a lawyer who focuses on farm workers’ rights at the Georgia Legal Services Program, a nonprofit law firm. “I am arguing that it could be a better job. If you want experienced people, train them. Just because people are easier to supervise, agricultural employers shouldn’t be able to import them. It is not true that Americans don’t want the work. What the farmers are really saying is that blacks just don’t want to work.”

To which J. Larry Stine, an Atlanta lawyer for Stanley Farms and other big farms, replied: “The farmers are not racist or against Americans. They have crops to be picked, and they see that domestics just don’t have their hearts in it.”

Jim Knoepp of the Southern Poverty Law Center, a nonprofit group that has campaigned against the guest worker program, said that farm work, like other difficult labor, could be made attractive to Americans at reasonable cost, and that farmers should not be excused from doing so.

“There used to be lots of American pickers who moved around the country,” he said. “But wages have stagnated and conditions have deteriorated, and agriculture is unwilling to make these jobs attractive. Think of trash collection. That’s not very appealing, either. But if you offer a decent wage and conditions, people do it.”

Cindy Hahamovitch, an expert on guest worker programs at the College of William and Mary in Virginia, said that in the 1970s about two-thirds of farm workers were Americans and a third were foreign, and that a decade later the proportion was reversed. Today, she said, the vast majority of farm workers around the country are immigrants, although not in the guest worker program.

Republicans in Congress, mindful of the Democrats’ desire to bring legal status to the nation’s 11 million unauthorized immigrants, have made an expansion of the guest worker program a key element of any deal. Current proposals include increasing the number and category of temporary workers to the dairy and construction industries, and increasing their stays from a matter of months to three years so that employers have the workers they say they need.

The guest workers who are planting cucumbers for Southern Valley and harvesting onions for Stanley Farms are among 10,000 holders of H-2A visas in Georgia this year and 85,000 nationally. They are generally guaranteed a minimum wage of just over $9 an hour, but are paid per piece and can boost those wages by increasing their productivity. Other workers, known as H-2B and numbering around 65,000, labor in other businesses in which there is a demand for temporary or seasonal workers, including hotels.

Employers must show that they have tried to hire Americans through advertising and other means and that they could not attract enough of them before resorting to the H-2 system. In the litigation that resulted in the consent decree with Southern Valley, the federal government argued that the effort had not been made or had been intentionally not serious. Excuses were used not to hire locals or to fire them — training was minimal, and people were fired when they were less skilled than others who had been doing the work for years.

“You’ve got some people who don’t work as fast as Mexicans, but they don’t teach you, and it can be learned,” said Misty Johnson, who was fired and then rehired by Southern Valley as part of the consent decree.

For the past few months, Southern Valley has been required to provide daily bus transportation to the farm and demonstrate that it was training and retaining Americans. But a recent inspection of those efforts left federal officials unimpressed.

Southern Valley officials make no secret of their belief that the consent decree — the free bus, the orientation program they now run and the training — is a waste of their time and money. They assert that there is no discrimination and that they would prefer to hire locals if they could.

Lawyers for the local workers say the system is rigged to favor low-cost foreign labor because, given the conditions and the pay, no one else will do it.

“If you can’t find locals to do the work, why is the answer to bring in people who have little protection and not grant them legal status?” asked Mr. Knoepp of the Southern Poverty Law Center. “If we need them, why not bring them in and make them legal citizens with real protections? The answer is because then they wouldn’t keep working in the fields given the conditions of that work. They would do something else. It doesn’t have to be this way.”

Huge Illegal Alien Amnesty Bill is Here… And It’s Amnesty First, Border Security Never

This isn’t really news. More like a confirmation of what we already knew now that the text of the massive bill is available. The Amnesty Gang is still spinning this as tough on border security, but let’s look at the claims.

This bill fixes our broken immigration system by securing the border with the toughest border security and enforcement measures in U.S. history, based on the following six security triggers:

1. DHS must create, fund and initiate a border security plan (within 6 months of bill’s enactment).

2. DHS must create, fund & initiate a border fence plan (within 6 months of bill’s enactment).

3. DHS must achieve 100 percent border awareness and at least 90 percent apprehension rates in high-risk sectors of the U.S.-Mexico border (within 5 years of bill’s enactment).

4. If DHS fails to achieve #3, a Border Commission of border state officials and stakeholders is required to create & implement a plan to achieve 100 percent border awareness and at least 90 percent apprehension rates in high-risk sectors of the U.S.-Mexico border (within 10 years of bill’s enactment).

5. Universal E-verify must be implemented (within 10 years of bill’s enactment).

6. Visa exit system must be implemented at all international airports & seaports (within 10 years of bill’s enactment).

No triggers are defined here for 5 and 6, but the border security triggers amount to telling an Obama/Clinton run DHS that they must develop a plan to stop more of their voters from entering the country.

It compels DHS to fund and initiate plans, not to carry them out successfully. The trigger depends on a 90 percent rate, reported by whom? Agencies answering to Obama Inc? The same government that keeps insisting that there’s a recovery underway?

But let’s assume the statistics are honestly carried out. Let’s assume that none of the thousand different ways of fudging the requirements are used. And naturally a 90 percent rate will not be reached.

Meanwhile legalization has already happened. So now there will be a commission from border states, with mixed records on illegal immigration, along with vaguely defined “stakeholders” to implement a new plan that will work. And what happens if Plan #3 doesn’t work?

Welcome to Washington D.C.

In Washingtonese, the emphasis is on beginning implementation and initiation, not on doing something. There’s a lot of emphasis on things beginning and initiating to avoid the problem that legalization comes before all else.

“Already, we know that the bill’s sponsors have abandoned their core promise to the American people that enforcement would come first. This bill is legalization first, not enforcement first. The day the bill passes there will be effective amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants, with only the same promises we have heard before of enforcement to occur at some later date. That amnesty will then become official in a matter of months—once DHS merely submits a plan for border security in the future.

That’s not a trigger—that’s the honor system. DHS develops the metrics and DHS decides when those metrics are met.

In recent years interior enforcement has been significantly undermined. And yet our interior enforcement needs are almost totally neglected in the Gang’s proposal.

Alarmingly, the bill leaves intact the single greatest obstacle to immigration reform: the Administration’s abuse of prosecutorial discretion to prevent the enforcement of federal law. It will also provide safe harbor to those who have committed a variety of offenses—ranging from identity theft, to multiple immigration violations, and even those with criminal records.

This bill opens up citizenship to recent arrivals and, remarkably, millions who overstayed their visas. If adopted, this bill would send a message to the world that if you can beat the system, you will be rewarded with citizenship. If adopted, this bill would send the following message to the world: if you get a U.S. visa and it expires, never leave—just stay put and evade detection. It even opens up citizenship to those who have been deported from the country.”

University of Michigan Liberal Protesters Support Pro-ILLEGALS Agenda over U.S.A. citizens: Arrest

Higher education continues to take on new forms. At the University of Michigan some students seem to be with confusion concerning the meanings of "Legal" and "Illegal".

Are these students just more of the same movement confronting "We the People" and "rule of law" which those who come invading the U.S.A. seem to live in a fog of not knowing right form wrong?

As yourself while reading and viewing the articles which are provided below how many of these people are perusing higher education do so with the main focus on liberal arts study, as well as, how many will be teaching the children, and will they be willing to disclose their support of those who break the laws of the U.S.A. to all those who should know of this information - parents, educators, employers and so forth.

If we are going to reward those invading and/or being in the U.S.A. ILLEGALLY, then shouldn't we first give better treatment to U.S.A. citizens and/or release those U.S.A. citizens from prisons if their only crime is not a serious one? These University of Michigan protesters seem to think ILLEGALS in the U.S.A. for some sick reasoning should be given red carpet treatment for their crimes. Really?

8 arrested at University of Michigan protest for undocumented students

Eight University of Michigan students were arrested Wednesday evening as they sat in the middle of an Ann Arbor intersection protesting for tuition equality for undocumented residents.

U-M police officers said they were arrested for obstructing traffic. They were taken to a police station and could be issued a ticket, officers said.

There were eight total arrests, seven students and one U-M almunus, said U-M police spokeswoman Diane Brown. They were all processed and released pending charges, which could be charges of disorderly conduct, disobeying a police officer or impeding traffic.

"All were very cooperative," Brown said in an e-mail to the Free Press. "Once they were cleared out of vehicle traffic, there were no other problems."

Yonah Lieberman, a senior from Washington, D.C., was among those who was arrested. He walked peacefully to the police car, continuing to chant.

“I’m willing to risk arrest,” he said minutes before that. “The cause is worthy enough. The students can’t get in here deserve our support.”

The crowd initially blocked the entire intersection at South State and South University. As car horns sounded, the group linked arms and chanted.

The first police officer arrived about five minutes after students entered the intersection. About five minutes later, protest organizers told all those who didn’t want to get arrested to get back on the sidewalk.

Sara Olson doesn’t see why students who grew up in Michigan like she did, graduated from a Michigan high school like she did, should have to pay thousands of extra dollars more than she does to go to the University of Michigan.

Olson, 18, a U-M freshman from Ann Arbor, was among about 60 students and community members who turned out Wednesday evening to protest in front of the Michigan Union.

The students are calling on the U-M Board of Regents to make sweeping policy changes that would require the university to charge the in-state rate to anyone who grew up in Michigan.

Javier Contreras, 18, of Ann Arbor, would fit that bill. He came from Mexico when he was young and has grown up in Michigan. He graduates this year from Skyline High School in Ann Arbor and applied to U-M for his undergraduate studies.

“When I saw that acceptance e-mail just a few weeks ago, I was really excited,” he said. “That feeling ended when I realized I couldn’t afford to pay the international rate of over $160,000 over four years.”

In-state tuition is just over $12,000 a year at U-M.

A group of administrators and students has turned over a report on policy options to the regents. There is a regents’ meeting at 3 p.m. Thursday, but the topic is not on the agenda.

The report looks at the admissions process, how admissions officers interact with undocumented students and financial aid options for undocumented students.

Undocumented students do not qualify for federal student aid or most other aid programs, further limiting those who can afford to come to school, the group says.

The group on Wednesday marched from the union to President Mary Sue Coleman’s house and then back.

If U-M would switched its policies, it would be a controversial move.

Those who are against it say the university should focus its resources on those students who are in the country legally.

Each public university in the state sets its own policy on the matter. Most charge out-of-state tuition.

Western Michigan University offers in-state tuition rates to students with proof that they live in Michigan.

Wayne State University doesn’t ask for citizenship documentation. Saginaw Valley State University allows its president to approve waivers and allow migrant workers’ children to be offered in-state tuition.

Eight University of Michigan students were arrested Wednesday night after they blocked a busy intersection near campus in protest over the university's policy not to offer undocumented students from Michigan in-state tuition.

Seven students and one U of M alum were arrested, University of Michigan Police spokeswoman Diane Brown told the Detroit Free Press. She said police processed and released them pending charges. They could be charged with disorderly conduct, disobeying a police officer or impeding traffic, Brown told the Free Press.

About 50 people, mostly U of M students, started the rally by marching from the Michigan Union to University of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman's home. They then formed a circle at the intersection of South State Street and South University Avenue -- two busy streets that border the Ann Arbor campus.

As cars honked, police officers on the scene began directing traffic around the protesters who chanted, "Education, not deportation." Most protesters fled to the sidewalk after police warned them that they risked arrest by remaining in the street.

U of M senior Yonah Lieberman was one of the students that was arrested. Prior to being led into a police vehicle, he told the Free Press that he was "willing to risk arrest."

"The cause is worthy enough," he said. "The students (who) can't get in here deserve our support."

The students, members of the group the Coalition for Tuition Equality, believe that undocumented residents of Michigan should be allowed to pay in-state tuition to attend U of M. They currently have to pay international rates, and because they're undocumented the students aren't eligible for most financial aid.

University of Michigan Regent Mark Bernstein (D-Ann Arbor) answered student questions on Twitter Wednesday night. When asked about the protest, Bernstein, who was elected last November, said the university "has long tradition of student activism. Part of our history/culture. Proud of this engagement."

CTE was formed in October 2011, and its members have staged a number of high-profile protests across campus. A group of students and administrators produced a report on the feasibility of changing the university's policy. The report was presented to the university's Board of Regents last month, and a group of administrators are working to present recommendations to the board.

The group of students and administrators also traveled to California last fall to learn how the University of California, Berkeley and UCLA have implemented policies to give undocumented California residents in-state tuition.

The Board of Regents is scheduled to meet Thursday afternoon, but the topic of in-state tuition for undocumented residents isn't on the prepared agenda. U of M spokesman Rick Fitzgerald told AnnArbor.com that he doesn't expect the regents to discuss the administrators' recommendations at Thursday's meeting.

However, students from CTE are expected to address the regents during the public comments section.

With red tape over their mouths, roughly 100 University of Michigan students wearing maize T-shirts pushed their chairs aside and sat on the ground during a Board of Regents meeting Thursday.

The students were silently protesting against current tuition practices at the university, which don't offer illegal immigrants who attended Michigan high schools in-state tuition.

For more than a year, a large group of students have petitioned U-M for tuition equality.

"What's happening isn't right. Undocumented students unfairly have a barrier," said John D'Adamo, a U-M junior and a member of the U-M Coalition for Tuition Equality who protested during the 4 p.m. regents meeting. "They're often discouraged from coming to the University of Michigan."

Tuition equality would allow illegal immigrants who attended Michigan high schools to attend the college for in-state rates, which are $12,994 for underclassmen this year. Currently, illegal immigrants would pay $39,122, the out-of-state rate for underclassmen.

The tuition difference, equality supporters say, puts U-M out of financial reach for most illegal immigrants that grew up in Michigan.

During the public comments session, Curdit Suri —red duct tape over his mouth— stood before regents while a recording of his message played. Suri talked about his grandfather, who attended the university decades ago.

"He is ashamed that the University of Michigan fails to lead on tuition equality, that the university deprives bright undocumented students the same transformative opportunity that has allowed him to attend here," Suri said in the recording.

Added Maria Cotera, a faculty member speaking on behalf of the Latino studies program at the school: "We are very surprised that the university is placing barriers to qualified resident students who have show great resilience and drive... and who, but for a lack of a social security number, would likely make important contributions to the betterment of the state."

U-M task force looking into tuition equality

This semester, a task force assembled by U-M Provost Philip Hanlon began meeting biweekly to establish recommendations for tuition equality at the school. The group will present a final report of recommendations to U-M President Mary Sue Coleman, although the group is lagging behind the end-of-the-semester deadline originally set by Hanlon.

"So far the working group hasn't come up with a anything and the administration has refused to make public comments on the issue," said D'Adamo, a U-M junior. "This [protest] is essentially to try to show the administrators and others that there are a lot of students on this campus that are for tuition equality."

Hanlon said the university isn't offering any statements on tuition equality until the task force finishes its report.

"We want to hear what they have to say," Hanlon said in an interview.

Hanlon said the task force is composed of three students and three administrators, each group writing different sections of the report. The group recently visited two flagship universities in California that have tuition provisions for illegal immigrants.

"The group did take trips out to University of California at Los Angeles and Berkley... They talked to people out there about how they did things," Hanlon said. "I thought that was important because those are two institutions that are comparable in many ways, in quality and being public."

Hanlon expects the report to be completed in January, he said.

Other schools

Students in attendance criticized U-M for being slow to change its tuition practices. They cited other schools, nationally and locally, that have more immigrant-friendly policies.

"We all believe everyone deserves an equal opportunity," said junior Rachel Oakford, who attended the protest. Fellow attendee freshman Connie Gao called tuition equality "a human issue."

Tuition equality varies throughout the state, although multiple student bodies are rallying college administrators to establish an equality policy.

Eastern Michigan University's Board of Regents earlier this year determined that the school could not offer undocumented students in-state tuition rates because doing so, administrators found, could violate federal grant and funding requirements.

The school is, however, looking into establishing a scholarship fund that would offer illegal immigrants grants that would reduce their tuition to in-state levels.

Western Michigan University students who can prove in-state residency are awarded in-state tuition, regardless of their citizenship status.

Massachusetts also announced a plan in November to allow illegal immigrants in-state tuition rates at public colleges. A form of tuition equality was recently legalized by voters in Maryland. In that state, illegal immigrants can attend in-state colleges for free after proving they've attended state high schools and spent two years in a state community college.

One illegal immigrant spoke to regents during their public comments session. She said she grew up in Michigan and wanted to attend U-M as an undergraduate, but couldn't afford the out-of-state rate she would need to pay.

"I am here putting a face to this issue. I am only one of 29,000 undocumented students that are here in the state of Michigan and that are affected by this policy," said Xochitl Cossyleon. "Be on the right side of history and be the leaders and the best on this issue."

Bomb team destroys explosive intended for Sheriff Arpaio

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that a package containing an explosive device and addressed to Sheriff Joe Arpaio has been destroyed.

The package was intercepted in Flagstaff by local law enforcement.

Authorities discovered the device when it was x-rayed, according to Flagstaff police. A bomb team was deployed and the device was defused.

The FBI is investigating.

We're told authorities in Flagstaff say they already have leads.

A suspicious package addressed to controversial Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio contained a bomb that was powerful enough to maim or even kill him, his office said today.

"Had someone opened that package, it would have caused a major explosion and caused serious physical injuries, burns and maybe death," Maricopa County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jerry Sheridan said at a press conference. "That was a very serious threat, it was labeled to come here to this building and be opened by Sheriff Arpaio."

"Packages do wind up on the sheriff's desk," said Sheridan.

The mail bomb was discovered Thursday by a Flagstaff postal worker who noticed what they thought was gunpowder residue coming from outside the package. The Flagstaff police department bomb squad X-rayed the package, noticing what appeared to be an explosive device inside.

"There were wires and a container in the device," said Sheridan.

The device was disarmed when the police department bomb squad blasted it apart with a water cannon.

Investigators are working now to piece together the device to determine the exact explosive contained in the package, Sheridan said.

The spokesman said the sheriff's office has a person of interest in the case who they are trying to locate, and that they are cooperating with the U.S. Postal Inspector, the FBI, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in the investigation.

Sheridan said although death threats against Arpaio are something the office deals with on a regular basis, this possible bomb threat was something that was "brought to the height of seriousness," and that the office had never received an explosive device in the mail before.

Arpaio said he wouldn't be intimidated by any threats, and would continue to do his job.

"I'm not leaving this office no matter what they do, what they say, I'm staying," Arpaio said. "That's my message to all these people who don't like this sheriff."

The explosive device follows the killings of another law enforcement officer and prosecutors. Two prosecutors have been gunned down in Kaufman County, Texas, since January. And last month, Tom Clements, chief of the Colorado prison system, was killed in his home.

Arpaio, dubbed "America's Toughest Sheriff," was elected sheriff of Maricopa County in 1992 and since then has garnered national headlines with his views on immigration, prisoners' rights and gun control.

Arpaio's latest controversy came weeks after the Newtown, Conn., mass shooting, when he deployed armed volunteers to patrol schools in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

As the immigration reform Gang of Eight inside the Beltway prepares to announce a deal later this week, claiming border security will come before a path to citizenship for millions of illegals, Border Patrol agents have seen illegal border crossings double and warn the cutting of agent work hours will only result in less border security, not more.

"We've seen the number of illegal aliens double, maybe even triple since amnesty talk started happening," an agent told Townhall, who asked to remain unnamed due to fears of retaliation within Customs and Border Protection [CBP], something he said is common. "A lot of these people, although not the majority, are criminals or aggravated felons. This is a direct danger to our communities."

Data obtained by Townhall and reported within CBP from February 5 through March 1, 2013 shows 504 illegal aliens were spotted exploiting the Tucson/Nogales area, 189 were caught on CBP intelligence cameras. Of those 504, only 174 were apprehended and 32 of the 189 on camera were carrying large drug load packs for Mexican cartels. Some were armed with AK-47 style weapons.

Below are selected photos obtained by Townhall from CBP intelligence cameras in Southern Arizona near the border with Mexico. Sensitive information has been redacted in order to protect the security and identity of the camera locations.

Last week, Fox News reported sections of the border will soon become unpatrolled as hours for on-the-ground agents are cut. Townhall has learned Border Patrol agents working the border have been fully funded, yet internal political battles within CBP may be causing funds to be funneled to managers, rather than those getting their boots dirty on patrols.

"Customs and Border Protection has been given enough money to fully staff the border but has chosen to use the money elsewhere, we believe it is to fund the salaries of Supervisory CBP Officers. The money they are diverting was to go to AUO (Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime) which is actually straight pay and is used to pay Border Patrol Agents for anything past eight hours. Being that we have to maintain staffing 24/7 this is a huge part of border security. The criminals and drugs don't stop coming so we have to make sure we have people out there. Cutting AUO will be a 30% pay cut for our agents but more importantly a minimum 20% loss of staffing out in the field," Vice President of the National Border Patrol Council Shawn Moran tells Townhall. "It is internal politics within CBP and also with immigration reform. There are still battles between legacy Customs, INS, and Border Patrol managers as to the direction CBP takes and how the funds are being used.

Meanwhile both parties claim no immigration reform until the border is secured, well this surely will not secure the border."

As sequestration goes into full effect April 7 and a deal in Washington on immigration reform gets locked in, illegal crossings are expected to get worse.

"We have seen increased crossings and smuggling since word of staffing cuts began circulating. The illegals have even told us that is why they tried crossing. The border is safer but by no means secure," Moran says.

Another agent expressed the same sentiment, saying when apprehended, some illegal aliens ask where they can go to find amnesty.

Despite border security being put further at risk through bad policy, the push for immigration reform well before full border security is ongoing. The AFL-CIO reached a deal with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on a guest worker program late last Friday. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said the Gang of Eight has reached a deal on immigration reform on CNN's State of the Union over the weekend, but Republican Senator Marco Rubio has said reports of a deal are pre-mature.

House completes veto override on voter-ID bill

The Arkansas House completed an override of Senate Bill 2, concerning voter identification, on Monday, April 1, 2013.

The Arkansas House on Monday completed an override of Gov. Mike Beebe's veto of a bill that will require Arkansas voters to present photo identification before casting ballots.

The override passed the chamber, 52-45.

The Arkansas Senate completed the first leg of defeating Beebe's veto of Senate Bill 2 on Wednesday, voting 21-12 to override the veto. Each chamber, both Republican-controlled, needed a simple majority vote.

It is the third successful override of a Beebe veto this session by Arkansas lawmakers. The previous two overrides both dealt with abortion-ban legislation.

The Arkansas House delayed the override vote last week, failing to bring up the matter before the House convened Monday.

Beebe vetoed the bill last Monday because it was "an expensive solution in search of a problem" and would infringe on voters' rights. Senate Bill 2, sponsored by Sen. Bryan King, R-Green Forest, will require the state to provide free photo IDs to voters who do not have one. The estimated state cost is $300,000.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Arkansas has said the legislation is unconstitutional and said it would look at its options after a decision from lawmakers. Other opponents of the bill say it is unfair to senior citizens, members of minority groups and the poor.

Poll workers are currently required to ask voters for identification, but voters are still allowed to vote if they do not have an ID.

The bill will take effect Jan. 1, 2014, but only if the state has the money to issue voter ID cards.
