Brother Scan N Cut - New Machine Accessories and How to Use Them

With Christmas behind us, I have noticed an increase in frustrated Brother Scan N Cut user comments.

The Scan N Cut machine makes such a wonderful and exciting Christmas gift. The new owners dive right in and before you know it are proclaiming "Quits" on Facebook. Frustrated and at their wits end, they are ready to pack it right back into the box and store in a remote closet never to be thought of again.

STOP!

Before you do this, let me see if I can help.

The first thing to do is explore the contents of the box.

The machine, goes with out saying, is the prize. I would like to delve a little deeper. I don't think the frustration comes from the machine, or knowing how to use it. The greatest frustration comes from not understanding the tools that come withe the machine.

Most Scan N Cut machines come with the items seen below.

These two sheets will tell you all of the "Do's and Don'ts" of the enclosed mats. You'll want to read them, but they are not necessary to hold onto.

Blue Card stock

This is one of my favorite items in the package. It is a 12" x 12" sheet of Blue Card stock Paper.

There is a "Getting Started" project included in the Brother Scan N Cut SDX 1200 that allows you to become familiar with your machine while producing a beautiful gift box using this piece of card stock.

I have created a video (click here) that walks you through this project. I highly recommend you do this. It will help you become more comfortable with your machine before you branch out on your own.

One label is created quickly and easily as simple words typed in; the other label is created as letters spaced, welded, and then angled to create a unique look. 👀 Did you know that your Brother Scan N Cut machine has a draw feature that allows you to transfer a design to paper, fabric, wood or whatever medium you choose? I created this tutorial to answer a viewer's question regarding how to draw using transparent areas. In this tutorial I show you how to set up a design in Canvas Workspace (Online as well as the PC version so that you can see the difference). You will see how to use the transparent colour, outline, and other canvas settings to ensure your drawing turns out exactly how you want it. We will use an Easter design featured in previous “draw” videos to maintain clarity on utilizing the draw features. There are links provided below to access the same design.👇
