Detective John Burns, who retired in 1988, passed away on November 22nd from an existing heart condition. Detective Burns started his career with the Amherst Police Department in 1970, hired by Chief Frank Hart, after serving 4 years in the Philadelphia Police Department where he was assigned to the south end of that city.
