15 April 2026 – Vishu Celebrations, Amritapuri Ashram

Vishu was celebrated at the ashram with great enthusiasm. Earlier in the day, the Kalari was decorated with flowers and leaves, and a special Vishukkani was arranged there along with traditional pujas.

Amma blessed the Vishukkani arranged in front of the stage, which included traditional items and a collection of plants. She also distributed various plants to children and youths as part of the Vishuthai Neettam. These included seedballs, bee hives, and bird feeders, promoting a sense of care for nature alongside the festival spirit.

In the evening, the ashram children presented a series of beautiful dance programs in celebration of the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Amma said:

Vishu is a festival of joy that spreads happiness to everyone, much like the Kanikkonna tree in full bloom. The Vishukkani carries a deep message. It reminds us to live in harmony with Nature, to follow a healthy way of life, to nurture a family bound by love and unity, and to begin each day with a remembrance of the divine.

Vishu-kkaineettam offers a valuable opportunity to teach children important lessons about the value of money and how to spend it wisely. Today’s youngsters often tend to spend whatever they receive without much thought—buying whatever they see on the way, enjoying it with friends, and repeatedly pressuring their parents for money, both for necessary and unnecessary things. Those who do not spend money wisely are often unable to control their own minds and lives. Therefore, if we are giving Vishu-kkaineettam, we should also guide children on how and why money should be used responsibly. It is not enough to give money; guidance is also necessary.

On Vishu Day, what we should focus on is not so much what we first see with our eyes, but what thoughts and feelings first arise in our hearts. We should awaken within ourselves noble emotions such as devotion to God, love and compassion. Instead of looking for faults and shortcomings in others, if we can learn to see the divine in everyone and recognise the goodness in them, that itself is a great achievement. Then Vishu becomes truly blessed—and so does our life.

A rusty vehicle makes a constant creaking sound when it runs. But when the lubricant oil is applied, that noise disappears. In the same way, when love is given—from parents to children, by the elder children to the younger siblings, and so on—isolated islands connect to form a single chain.

Amma is reminded of a story. In a family, two brothers had a property dispute. In time, both stopped speaking to each other. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, and the silence between them only grew deeper.

Then came Vishu. As the Vishukkani was being arranged, the mother of the house did something unusual. She placed a group photograph of the entire family near the kani. But the glass frame of the photo was cracked. The elder brother asked, “Mom, why have you used such a frame for the kani?”

The mother gently replied, “Son, isn’t this exactly what our family situation is like right now? So, why should we hide it?”

Her words touched both brothers deeply. After a while, when everyone sat together for the morning meal, the brothers spoke to each other for the first time in a long while. They shared their affection and reconciled.

That Vishu did not bring them any special wealth or money. But it gave them something far more valuable—they regained love, friendship and the unity of their family.

In earlier times, this principle used to work. Values were genuinely meaningful then, and life moved forwards by preserving those values. But today, those values seem to be fading. At the heart of those values is love. Values exist to nurture love.

Where there is love, there will naturally be patience. There will be a willingness to accept others, and the ability to forgive and forget. When love comes first, all other virtues follow on their own. Love is the foundation, and values are meant to cultivate it.

And so, we must remain ever grateful for all that we have received. This is indeed what we are doing during Vishu—expressing our gratitude for everything we have received. This is the time that the mango blossoms flower, and all the spring flowers bloom. It is the season when jackfruit ripens, mangoes ripen, when all fruits come into fullness, we experience this gratitude towards Nature for all that it has given us.

As the line of the bhajan “Murali ooti ooti” suggests: “When the flute hums its tune and the bees come flying in, what must the flower feel?” Every line in that bhajan asks what one part of Nature experiences upon another’s arrival: What does the field feel when birds alight on it? What does the mango feel when the nightingale comes near it? and so on. Because every part of Nature experiences that its life has found fulfilment in giving. “I am born for the sake of others.” It is not just about taking for oneself; it is about giving as well.

Everything in Nature practices this giving, yet human beings alone tend to hold on and try to possess everything for themselves. What matters most is to remain grateful for the goodness we have received. Our elders shaped festivals and reflections like these to nurture good values within families and society.
The younger generation has much to learn from the older generation as well as our ancestors—good culture, values and many kinds of wisdom and ways of living that cannot be gained from school alone, including customs and traditions. The care and sincerity that every parent shows for their children are beyond measure. Yet, such values are often understood by the younger generation only much later in life.

Another important message that Vishu gives is to love Nature. To love Nature means to have compassion for all living beings within it. After all, pain is painful to everyone. We often see children picking up stones and throwing them at insects or harming small creatures like dragonflies—even cutting their tails—and then feeling happy about it. But children do this out of ignorance. The real concern is when we, who have knowledge, end up doing harm to others, taking pleasure in it, or finding satisfaction in others’ suffering. Sometimes, even someone else’s happiness makes us unhappy. This is just how our mind is. Amma is not criticising anyone. It is only when true understanding arises that at least a little compassion, a sense of empathy with the other, begins to awaken within us, and we begin to think, “What can I do for them?”

In reality, without Nature, we cannot exist. Nature exists within all of us. Human beings are a part of Nature. We are deeply connected to all living beings—birds, trees, animals, and every form of life. Only when our lives move in harmony with theirs can we lead a truly healthy and balanced existence. Moreover, every creature in Nature exists in mutual dependence. Human life itself is possible because Nature—plants, trees and animals—continue to exist. Without them, there is neither human life nor human civilisation. When any species becomes extinct, the consequences of that loss will ultimately be borne by us ourselves.

On our birthday, we must try to plant at least one sapling for others. We should remain alert and mindful of that. Vishu-kkaineeṭṭam, Vishu-taineeṭṭam—“Vishu’s gift of blessings, Vishu’s offering of saplings” should be our slogan. This practice is about cultivating love and harmony with Nature and all living beings, restoring ecological balance and embracing actions that foster both material and spiritual growth.

May we all be able to do so. May grace bless all my children with that strength.

19 March 2026, Ayodhya

The Shri Rama Raksha Yantra was consecrated today at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, on Chaitra Navratri and the start of Rama Navami celebrations. The consecration rituals were led by Acharya Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid of Kashi, along with 51 Vedic scholars.

The consecration rituals

For nearly an hour, Amma, along with India’s President Droupadi Murmu and the Governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister of Uttarpradesh Yogi Adityanath remained in the sanctum sanctorum during the pratishta rituals. Amma meditated throughout, praying that “the light reach everyone’s heart: that knowledge should shine, love should shine, and Sri Rama’s life of ideals should be shared and lived in others’ lives as well.” {news}

Desiring a Mahatma’s presence on such a sacred occasion, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust invited Amma to the installation ceremony. Following the Rama Yantra pratishta, Amma and President Murmu offered their tributes.

The Yantra is a copper-based, gold-plated hexagon measuring three square feet. It is intricately embossed with mantras covering the primary aspects and avatars of Maha Vishnu, alongside the symbol of Sri Rama. At its central point (madhya bindu) lie the mantras of Sri Rama (‘Jai Sri Ram’) and Sita Devi.
These are encircled by a prayer asking Sri Rama to bless all with Mukti (liberation) and unconditional Bhakti (devotion). A special prayer also invokes Sri Rama to manifest in the Yantra, calls upon Hanuman to protect the good and punish the wicked, and prays for the Divine to manifest in the devotees’ hearts.

Shri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi, the Shankaracharya of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, has graciously offered this Yantra to be consecrated within the Rama Mandir.

L->R: Swami Govind Dev Giri, Amma, Anandiben Patel, Droupadi Murmu, Yogi Adityanath

After the installation ceremony, the President of India Droupadi Murmu, Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Amma, Treasurer of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust Swami Govind Dev Giri, addressed thousands of sanyasis, sadhus, and devotees gathered in a special pandal on the temple premises.

Welcoming Amma to the Ayodhya, Yogi Adityanath said: “Today, we are graced by the presence of the revered Amma-ji. Encompassing the entire world in her maternal embrace, she embodies Indian culture that advocates universal brotherhood. Her profound presence has awakened renewed consciousness within us, making this truly a golden day.”

Speaking on the occasion, blessing the event, Amma said: “The Shri Rama Temple in Ayodhya is a symbol of a new sunrise for Sanātana Dharma. This great temple is the realization of centuries of prayers and tireless effort involving tremendous sacrifice. Today, we reverentially remember the millions who dedicated their lives to this yajña—those who offered their lives in sacrifice and those who served with selfless dedication.” {read complete address}

Yogi Adityanath added: “This is not merely the grand temple of Lord Ram at His birthplace; it is a symbol of India’s national identity and a foundation stone of Ram Rajya. Today, we see the manifestation of Ram Rajya: all beings are gladdened, sorrow and enmity vanish, inequality is destroyed, and people follow dharma and live happily, free of fear, sorrow, and disease.”

“This is the new India, also a changing India and the present generation, once thought misled, is moving in the right direction.

Today, people are choosing to celebrate the New Year in temples rather than at tourist destinations associated with activities contrary to Sanatan Dharma. Furthermore, weekend family outings now frequently involve temple visits, reflecting a meaningful revival of traditional values.

Which just now, revered Amma-ji has spoken here, {news} are being realized in this new India today” Said Yogi adityanath.

President Droupadi Murmu addressing the gathering

Addressing the gathering, President Droupadi Murmu said that Ram Rajya represents governance rooted in justice and equality and described Ayodhya as the center of India’s spiritual and cultural energy. The construction of the Ram Temple marks the beginning of a new phase in the nation’s civilizational journey.

The engineers and workers who toiled day and night to materialize the temple were specially acknowledged along with their families.

Over 1,200 ashram residents and Amma’s devotees, thousands of sadhus and sanyasis, and more than 7,000 Shri Ram devotees gathered in the special pandal, with thousands more watching online. It was a moment of fulfillment—the achievement of centuries-long effort for justice, unwavering devotion, untiring service, and the restoration of a dharmic identity for a new Bharat.

Jai Sri Ram

18 March 2026, Ayodhya

A few journalists approached Amma today to ask about her visit to the Shri Ram Mandir and the significance of the Rama Yantra installation. Amma graciously shared her reflections.

Q: What is your message about the program?

Amma: Amma is happy to be in Ayodhya. She does not hold personal likes or dislikes and accepts whatever comes in life. For devotees, this temple is an encouragement and affirmation to their faith.

Q: You are participating in the installation of the Yantra along with the President of India. What do you want to say about it?

Amma: “Yes, Amma is also present on the occasion of the Rama Yantra installation. The consecration of the Sri Rama idol has already been performed [two years ago]. The Yantra is a symbol of knowledge—it is like the GPS of a vehicle, providing direction; without wasting time or creating tension, you can led a life. Or like a shock absorber helping one withstand the obstacles and ups and downs of life. When we talk about the Rama Yantra, people may reflect more deeply and understand the principles behind the idol. This is what Amma feels.

Just as an idol’s consecration awakens the power within, the consecration of this Yantra enhances and radiates the Ojas (vitality) and Prana (life force) associated with it. Just as the ocean rises under the influence of the moon, through the establishment of the Yantra, the power exists within us is awakened. It must rise within us. With that knowledge, we can lead life discerning the difference between need and greed in a practical way.

All powers exist within us. We are like a supercomputer, but underutilized. We often use it only to track household expenses or groceries, though it could manage the needs of an entire city. This knowledge [when you contemplate on Yantra] reminds us to look within and realize that all powers are already present inside us. It is a call to move from the state of Jiva (individual being) toward Atma (the Self), toward the consciousness of Sri Rama.

In Lord Rama’s life, there are countless values to imbibe—how he lived and established dharma. He is known as ‘Praja Pati,’ the lord of the people.

When Mother Sita was abducted, he went to Lanka to bring her back but did not claim the kingdom. Instead, he crowned Vibhishana, a pious and dharmic ruler, and returned to Ayodhya, upholding dharma rather than conquest.

Even the smallest voice in his kingdom mattered; the washerman’s words were considered, Sita devi was abandoned. When in a position of authority, it is necessary to uphold the dharma of that role. Just as offices today when a complaint arises, there is first a suspension followed by an inquiry and then reinstatement. Similarly, Sita’s ‘suspension’ was followed by after everything was established, she was accepted again.

That was the mindset of Sri Rama. His life is a call to awaken to dharma. Rama’s life is a wake-up song.

The purpose of the Rama Yantra is to awaken this understanding, is what Amma feels. If we look within, we can change ourselves and cultivate the attitude (Bhava) of Sri Rama.”

Q: Is it merely a symbol of faith, or also an opportunity to unite society?

Amma: “True faith is unity itself. But today, what is called faith often leads to disunity. Faith in oneself brings real unity. True faith leads to universal unity, the understanding that everything is one, and creation and the Creator are inseparable.

The very fact that you are all (news reporters) sitting here and listening shows that faith exists within you. Because of the faith that I dont attack you and there is no explosive here brings unity. Real faith brings unity. The problem arises when one claims, ‘My faith alone is true, your faith is not.’ That leads to division. It is like saying, ‘My mother is good, your mother is a prostitute.’ That cannot be tolerated. But if we extend the same love we feel for our own mother to everyone, the awakening of oneness will happen.”

-Sakshi

Amma’s address on the occasion of the dedication of the Sri Rāma Rakṣa Yantra

“Amma offers her salutations to all of you who are verily the embodiments of Pure Love and the Supreme Self. My praṇāms at the Lotus Feet of Śrī Rāmacandra—the perfect upholder of dharmic conduct—and to this sacred land sanctified by his footsteps.

Honourable President of India, Smt. Draupadi Murmu; Honourable Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Anandiben Patel; Honourable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Sri Yogi Adityanath; respected sannyāsīs and dignitaries in the audience, noble souls who have dedicated their lives to reclaim the Rāma-janma-bhūmi, and dear devotees…

Today is Chaitra Navarātri, the day that marks the start of the Hindu New Year. Moreover, this day also marks the beginning of the Rāma-navamī celebrations. Amma is extremely happy to have had the opportunity to participate in this auspicious ceremony taking place at the sacred Śrī Rāma-janma-bhūmi.

Amma addressing at Ayodhya. Indian President of India, Governor of Uttar Pradesh
and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on the stage

The Rāma Temple in Ayodhyā is a symbol of a new sunrise for Sanātana Dharma. This great temple is the realisation of centuries of prayers and tireless effort involving tremendous sacrifice. This is also an occasion to reverentially remember the millions who dedicated their lives to this great yajña — those who offered their lives in sacrifice and those who served with selfless dedication.

Śrī Rāmacandra symbolises the epitome of the ṛṣi-lineage of the great culture of Bhārat. Śrī Rāma is synonymous with dharma. He embodies purity of character. He stands as the eternal model of dignity and nobility in character to the world.

Śrī Rāma and Śrī Kṛṣṇa did not merely accept fate as it was. In every circumstance of life, they acted in accordance with dharma. They demonstrated the greatness of human effort.

Bhārat is the land that has conveyed the message of all-embracing unity to the world. Śrī Rāma is the ever-radiant symbol of that immortal culture. May the life and remembrance of Śrī Rāma always sanctify human hearts.

In these times, when values are gradually eroding, the Rāmāyaṇa and the life of Śrī Rāma awaken in us a sense of dharma, inner strength and selflessness in our actions.

What is the distinctive feature of dharma? Dharma stands beyond all external differences and witnesses and accepts everything. This broad vision is what sets Sanātana Dharma apart from all others. That perspective harbours no hostility, vengefulness, sorrow or anger. There, one sees only goodness in everyone and in everything.

Bharata is arguing with his mother Kaikeyi

Bharata finds the fault

Look at the attitude of Bharata. His mother, Kaikeyī, had diabolically plotted Rāma’s exile to the forest so that her own son could ascend the throne. But when he arrives back in Ayodhyā, Bharata is furious to learn of his mother’s plan. But soon, he begins to think, “Who is the real offender here?”
“Is it Manthara? Manthara is just a maid; she will only try to please her mistress. She will try to get her mistress’ attention. She cannot be blamed.”

“Is it my father Dasaratha? How could he be so blind?” Then, Bharata thought, “My father was bound by the promise he’d made to his wife when she saved him from danger. How can I blame him?”

“Is it my mother, Kaikeyi. How could she be so cruel?” Then Bharata thought, “For a mother’s attachment to her son can make her do anything, and she may have wished for him to become the king. It is a mother’s desire, and I cannot find fault with her for that.”

Bharata thought again, “The kingdom and title were meant for Rāma alone. They were rightfully his. Why did he not assume rulership? Why did he abdicate and leave for the forest?” Then he tells himself, “My dear brother had only one intent—to obey the words of our father. Suppose the father is in debt and is not able to pay it back during his life-time, is it not the duty of the son to pay it back? My brother just did that.”

In this way, one by one, Bharata clears each person of blame. Finally, he says to himself, “None of them are guilty. If I had been here in the kingdom, none of this would have happened. The only person really to blame is myself. I am the only one who needs to change.”

As long as one believes that others are the cause of one’s problems, one will not experience freedom, happiness or true peace. One must have the courage to take personal responsibility for the events and circumstances that arise in life. Only then can there be freedom, happiness and the resolution of problems.

What is Rama Rajya?

When Bharata goes to meet Śrī Rāma in the forest, with the hope of getting him back to Ayodhyā, there is an interesting conversation between them that comes to Amma’s mind.

Sri Rama gives the advice to Bharata about proper governance

With love, Rāma enquires about the well-being of his subjects, including Kaikeyī, who was the reason for his exile. The foundational principles of the noble vision of “Rāma Rājya” are based on the questions that he then asks Bharata.
Śrī Rama asks Bharata, “Are you giving due respect and adoration to the knowledgeable ones, the forefathers, servants, preceptors, those who are equal to your father and the elderly? Have you kept men of courage and wisdom who have gained control over their senses as your ministers? Young one, I hope you’re not enslaved by sleep.”

Śrī Rama continues, “Are you working with energy, enthusiasm and awareness? As night ends, do you reflect upon all that has to be done during the day? I trust you don’t make independent decisions on matters of governance. At the same time, I hope you take the counsel of only a few people, so that your decisions don’t become the talk of the town. I hope you are prompt in starting the small enterprises leading to steady and sustainable development.”

Śrī Rama continues, “I hope the other kings know of your actions only after they have been achieved or are on the verge of completion. I hope you accept the views of one intelligent, wise and knowledgeable person over those of a thousand unintelligent ones. Remember, even if you have thousands of men, they will not fittingly support you if they have no wisdom and discernment.”

“Have you given due honour and respect to the young, the battle strategists, those who have proved their mettle and the valiant ones?”

Rāma asks Bharata, “Are you giving the army their rations and salary on time? I hope you do not delay in giving them what is their due. My brother, if they do not receive their food and salary on time, they will become angry with the rulers and wreak vengeance.”

“I hope you are performing all the traditional pūjās and rituals and are celebrating the festivals without fail.”

“You must see that the fields are ploughed well and seeds sown on time. You should give special encouragement and consideration to the farmers. In truth, we should prostrate before our villages. It is the villages that provide the food to satiate our hunger. It is the food produced in the villages that keeps us alive. So, they should be supported well.”

“I hope you protect the ponds, rivers, streams, canals and cattle well.”

“Are you providing whatever is needed by small businessmen and big entrepreneurs? I hope you are giving them adequate protection.”

“I hope there are safeguards for women and children in the kingdom.”

“Are you protecting the trees and forests?”

“I hope the inflow of money is much greater than the expenses incurred. Are you spending the money in the treasury wisely and for the upkeep of goodness?”

“Do you interact well with your subjects and try to understand their problems?”

“Did you establish good relations with the neighbouring kingdoms?”

In the questions that Śrī Rāma asks Bharata, the answers themselves are implied. Through them, Rāma gently conveys the message, “Dear brother, if you have not done these already, please do them now.”

These teachings form the very foundation of Rāma Rajya—the ideal governance. Śrī Rāma’s questions and the answers they suggest are not meant only for the Treta Yuga; they continue to offer guidance even today, and for all times, to all nations and their rulers.

Amma is very happy that our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji is doing his best to implement all these initiatives mentioned by Lord Rama to Bharata.

Cultural lab

Ashram, a cultural lab

The literal translation for the word saṁskāra is “culture.” In a laboratory, a culture refers to a small specimen of bacteria given the proper environment in which to grow. We all know what this kind of “culture” means. The lab conditions are maintained favourable for the culture to grow and flourish. In a similar manner, instilling saṁskāra—spiritual culture—in children at a tender age paves the path to internal growth. To make this spiritual culture flourish within our children, a conducive atmosphere should be created in our homes and schools.

One may say that our genes determine the actions we perform. But circumstances have also an influence on how a person acts. Amma feels that genes require input from the environment to work properly.

Nowadays the younger generation spends more time on the internet. Culture is something that helps one to go from the ‘internet’ to the ‘inner-net’. The Sri Rama Yantra installed today represents knowledge that will help one to delve within and connect to the inner-net.

Rama could have at least said ‘sorry’ to Sita

Children from 150 countries live in Amma’s āśram. They are young and speak many different languages. Yet, given the opportunity to grow up in the āśram environment, they have naturally absorbed its values. This has helped them face life with clarity—making them able to discern right from wrong. Amma will narrate a few incidents:

One young girl from the West asked Amma, “Wasn’t it cruel on Lord Rāma’s part to leave Sītā in the forest when she was pregnant? He could have at least said, ‘Sorry,’ to her.”

Amma told her “Rāma was a king. For a dharmic king, kingdom comes first. His family comes only later. He will always maintain the rājya-dharma—righteous rule over a kingdom. Only when the kingdom is safe can the citizens live safely. Lord Rāma was also the commander of his forces. When a war breaks out, the dharma of the army commander will be to be at the warfront defending his kingdom. He cannot be sitting home at that time, hugging his family. When many ask questions about Sri Rama leaving Sita in the forest, they forget the tremendous effort Lord Rama put in to get Sita back after she was abducted by Ravana.

Also, as per Indian culture, when a woman is pregnant, she should listen to the chanting of the names of the Lord and his glories so that her mind is in a peaceful and happy state. Moreover, the child in the womb is also benefitted by the spiritual vibrations. So, Rāma created this situation so that Sītā could spend her pregnancy in the spiritually charged atmosphere of the Vālmīki Āśram.”

Three days later, the little girl who asked the question, was giving a talk. In that she said, “My father is in France. I live in Amritapuri with my mother, as a result of which I have the opportunity to study texts like the Rāmāyaṇam and the Gītā. This is like when Śrī Rāma sent his wife and child to live in Vālmīki’s Āśram.”

Bhīṣma was stuck in the past

Another child asked, “Amma, wasn’t Bhīṣma wrong when he stood silent as Draupadī was being disrobed in the court of the Kauravas?”

Amma said, “We have important lessons to learn from all these characters in the Mahābhārata. Bhīṣma was stuck in the past. He gave his word to his father that he would always remain a celibate and serve whoever was sitting on the throne in the Kuru lineage with unwavering loyalty. But he failed to clearly see what was happening in the present moment. The lesson for us is that we should not be stuck in the past. We have to be in the present moment. Actions done living in the present will automatically make the future secure.”

I feel happy whenever I think about giving

Since these kids are exposed to these teachings at an early age, they develop compassion for their fellow beings.

For example, there is a child who wanted her parents to buy a particular doll for her, and she cried for days to force them to buy it. But once she got it, a few days later she gave it to another little girl on her birthday.

Seeing this, Amma called her and asked, “Why did you give your favourite doll away?”

“That girl doesn’t have a mother,” the little one replied. “She might also want a doll like this, but who will buy it for her? So I gave her mine.”

“You cried and begged your mother to get this doll for you, and you just received it a few days ago. Didn’t you feel sad giving it away?” Amma asked.

“No,” she replied. “I actually felt much happier than when I got it! And I feel happy whenever I think about giving it to her.”

When children imbibe the values from our scriptures, they are able to empathise with others who may be suffering.

Just as Lava and Kuśa, the sons of Śrī Rāma, sang the Rāmāyaṇam and thereby created the circumstances that brought Rāma back into their lives, our children too should be able to discover the Divine within themselves and share it with the world. For this, we must firmly instil and nurture spiritual values in them.

Beautiful flowers getting infested by bugs

Today, as values continue to decline, the growing use of intoxicants among youth and children is something we must fear even more than war. It is like buds that could have blossomed into beautiful flowers getting infested by bugs. Those meant to become responsible contributors to their families and the nation are instead being consumed by addiction. The only remedy for this is to nurture strong values and character from a young age.

Man has learned to fly like a bird and swim like a fish but has forgotten how to walk and live like a human being. Even an earthworm mates, procreates and dies. Having attained a human life, are we doing anything different? At least earthworms contribute to soil fertility. On the other hand, when human beings die, the body is treated with chemicals. As such, if we are buried, we become poisonous to the soil. If we are cremated, toxic fumes are released into the atmosphere. While living too, we exploit and destroy Nature. What can we offer to the world with this precious gift of human birth?

Wherever a turtle crawls, it leaves a trail in the sand. In a similar way, we must try to leave a mark—good memories—before we exit the world.

Creator & Creation are not two, but one

In Sanatana Dharma, creator & creation are not two, but one. It is the creator who has become the whole of creation. Just like gold and gold ornaments are not two, but one. Let us put in efforts to translate the Upanishadic dictum of “Ishavasyamidam Sarvam” (Everything is permeated by the Consciousness Principle alone) into our experience.

Even an act as simple as yawning requires the grace of the divine energy. This is not under our control. Without that grace, we may find we can open our mouth to yawn but are then unable to close it again! So, whatever it is we are doing, we should remain aware of the divine power functioning behind all of our actions. Let’s develop an attitude of surrender before that Supreme Power.

With the prayer for divine grace to be upon one and all, Amma offers these words to the Paramātmā.”

17 March 2026, Ayodhya

Amma arrived in Ayodhya today to take part in the Shri Rama Yantra Pratishta at the Shri Ram Temple. Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, officially invited Amma to be present during the installation ceremony, along with the President of India, Smt Draupadi Murmu.

The auspicious ceremonies will take place on Thursday, March 19, coinciding with the start of Chaitra Navratri, the Hindu New Year. Amma will share the dais with Droupadi Murmu, the President of India; Anandiben Patel, Governor of Uttar Pradesh; and Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Around 1,200 people accompanied Amma from Amritapuri on a specially arranged train to Ayodhya and back. They included Amma’s disciples, ashram residents, and devotees from across the world.

Amma was received at Ayodhya railway station by the King of Ayodhya, Yatindra Mishra. At her place of stay, she was welcomed with purnakumbh by Champat Rai, General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, and Dinesh Chandra, international patron of Vishwahindu Parishad.

In the evening, Amma visited the Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, stepping on the sacred ground at 5:13 pm for the first time. Champat Rai received Amma and guided her directly into the sanctum sanctorum. Amma performed arati to the Ramlala—the beautiful, majestic five-year-old form of Sri Ram carved in black stone, 2.5 to 3 billion-year-old black granite stone known as Krishna Shila. She then went to the second floor and performed arati to Sri Rama in the darbar, where idols of Sri Rama, Lakshmana, Sita, Bharata, Shatrughna, and Hanuman are placed. Amma performed the arati there too while the pujaris chanted Vedic mantras.

After darshan in the temple, Amma walked around the temple, observing the Ramayana incidents carved on the walls and in the form of statues. Champat Rai explained each and every aspect of the temple to Amma. She inquired about the work and effort of the volunteers who sacrificed for the temple’s construction. Amma admired the beauty of this sacred temple, built through the unity of artisans and laborers from across the country, all serving Sri Rama selflessly.

Amma was then taken around the temple complex in an electric buggy. She visited small temples dedicated to various rishis, viewed the entire temple complex from a small mountain area, and saw the large statue of Jatayu.

Observing the statue, Amma commented,
“Jatayu knew he would not be able to win against the might of Ravana. He had no weapons, yet he fought to protect Sita Devi. His wings were cut by Ravana, and he fell. Later, he was able to give the direction and whereabouts of Ravana to Sri Rama. A few drops of water were given to dying Jatayu by Sri Rama, and he breathed his last with his head on Sri Rama’s lap. Sri Rama also performed the final rites for Jatayu. Whatever little power we may have, we must fight against adharma. Even failure in such a struggle is considered success. This is the message we receive from Jatayu.”

The entire temple visit lasted about 62 minutes. Amma then returned to a hall where all the ashram group and devotees were waiting to join her for a meditation and bhajan session.

-Kannadi

20 March 2026 – Ayodhya

Today, ANI news agency asked Amma, when she was leaving Ayodhya to Amritapuri “how she felt inside the temple”? Amma said she was meditating while she was inside. Her prayer was for the “light to reach everyone’s heart: that knowledge should shine, love should shine, and Sri Rama’s life of ideals should be shared and lived in others’ lives as well.”

“At any cost Dharma should be sustained.” She explained, “A road is made for driving vehicles. If everyone drives according to their own wishes, there will only be accidents. If everyone acts as they like, no one will survive. Sri Rama lived for dharma. Amma’s prayer is that the spirit of that dharma may awaken in everyone.”

March 2026, Amritapuri – Ayodhya visit

Amma will visit Ayodhya on the 19th of this month at the invitation of the Shri Ram Janma-bhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust. General Secretary Champat Rai specially sent an invitation letter and two representatives to request Amma’s presence to grace the occasion of the Shri Ramayantra pratishta.

The Shri Ramayantra will be installed on the second floor of the Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya on March 19, the first day of Chaitra Navratri, known as the Hindu New Year. Amma will share the stage with the President of India, Smt. Draupadi Murmu. The related pujas will also take place at the temple.

Around 1,200 people—including senior monks, brahmacharis, and ashram residents—will accompany Amma on a specially arranged train from Amritapuri (Kayamkulam Junction) to Ayodhya and back.

Amma has traveled by train since the 1980s with small groups of devotees and ashram residents to destinations such as Kozhikode, Mumbai, Bhuj, and Kolkata. However, this is the first time Amma will take such a large group of people on a spiritual journey via a special chartered train.

Amma will depart Amritapuri for Ayodhya on March 15 and return on March 22. Darshan at Amritapuri will resume on March 25.

9 March 2026, Amritapuri Ashram

Today, Br. Satvamrita gave a talk after meditation, which Amma appreciated. Amma said: “Satvamrita, from the USA, shared the story of how he and his family came to Amma. His mother and sister are devoted followers. His mother had been actively involved in the soup kitchen* project in Seattle, where local devotees prepare and serve free meals weekly at a nearby church.”

Amma noted that Satvamrita’s mother never wasted time—”she prepared bedsheets, pillows, and warm clothes for distribution during the soup kitchen sessions. Marrying a black man during a period of social tension, the family chose to live together even when abandoned by others. She gave her two children to Amma.”

Amma then spoke about his father. “When he first came to Amma, she gave him an apple. He planted the seed, grew a tree, and in later years, brought Amma an apple from that tree each year during darshan. His father has now passed away, as has his mother. Amma shared that even in her final days, Satvamrita’s mother remembered Amma. When Amma called her “my daughter,” she opened her eyes and responded, her mind focused entirely on Amma.”

His father passed in 2021 while listening to the bhajan “Katutha Shokam Thadathil” during Amma’s live webcast and arati. Four years later, his mother also passed away, listening to the same bhajan and arati in a live session by Swamiji—both deaths occurring in the same month, under the same star, and around at the same time.

Amma then reflected on the children, Satvamrita and his sister Chaitanya, “both are now fully dedicated to seva. Satvatma leads a simple, mendicant-like life, often sleeping in his car, indifferent to food and clothing, and sings beautifully—Amma enjoys his singing deeply.”

After sharing Satvamrita’s story, Amma addressed the audience:

“We should learn to live in the present. There should be planning in the mind—for example, I will chant this many times a day. How greedy we are to count the money we earned; in the same way, we must be eager to chant the mantra. If you focus on the present, you can become great. Do not waste time” Amma reminded all.

This inspiring session highlighted devotion, selfless service, and the value of living in the present, leaving the devotees filled with love, clarity, and determination.

15 February 2026, Amritapuri Ashram

Shivaratri was celebrated with much joy, music, and dance, along with chanting, fasting, and enthusiasm.

The ashram youth presented a lively bhajan session, while others performed several dances and a Sanskrit skit. After the daily ashram bhajans, Amma watched and enjoyed all these programs. She also danced at the end.

In her Shivaratri message, she said: “Shivaratri is the most auspicious of nights, on which we are called to rise into the Supreme Truth. However, more than for celebrating, its essence is in being practiced, lived and experienced. This holy night reminds us of the many values we must embrace in both our worldly journey as well as on our spiritual path. Above all, Shivaratri is a call to elevate ourselves towards the highest truth—the principle of Shiva.”

“Ordinarily, the human mind and senses are absorbed in worldly pursuits and material concerns. Our five senses constantly move outwards, while our mind is consumed with endless thoughts and desires. If, even for one single day, we can anchor the mind and senses completely in remembrance and devotion of the divine, that itself is a profound accomplishment. When we pray with a clear goal and sincere devotion, the peace and joy we experience will inspire us to live a God-centred life. This is the true spirit of Shivaratri.”

“God is always awake within us; it is only that we are in deep sleep. Therefore, we cannot feel His presence. Most of our life experiences are like dreams seen in this sleep. If this is to end, we must strive to stay awake for God, as a kind of sacrifice, at least for one day.”

“Staying awake doesn’t merely mean keeping the eyes open without sleeping. It means being aware of our thoughts, words and actions. When this awareness arises, ignorance disappears. Darkness is not something that can be removed as an object; when light comes, darkness vanishes. In the same way, when awareness awakens in us, the darkness of ignorance disappears.”

“May each of us be able to absorb the message of self-restraint, sacrifice and awakening that Shivaratri gives. May the divine grace bless us all to rise into that awakening, in which we behold, love, and serve the Lord who pervades the entire universe through the asta-murti—eight forms—in everything that is sentient and insentient.”

9 February 2026, Amritapuri Ashram

Nowadays Amma comes early in the afternoon, leads everyone in meditation, and then an ashram resident gives a short talk.

On this day, one of the residents shared her experience.
She said, “When I asked you, ‘Amma, what should be my sadhana?’ you answered—‘Everything here—walking, sitting, sleeping, eating, dancing—everything here is sadhana. You try.’
So Amma, I have been trying. Walking, eating, dancing, and sleeping all happen effortlessly. Sometimes meditation also happens.”

Responding to her words, Amma said, “In fact, everything should be meditation—eating food, walking, bathing, and even sleeping. All our actions should be meditation.”

Amma explained, “When you prepare to write a letter to your loved one, you take a pen, paper, ink, and other things. Even though you see many objects, your mind is on your beloved. Though there are many things before you, you see unity, your beloved.”

“Similarly, when we prepare for a puja, we arrange the lamp, oil, wick, matchbox, flowers, and other items. We see many things, but the mind is on the Lord. When you light the lamp for the puja, you are allowing the light that is already in your heart to shine forth. The sun does not need our candlelight. In the same way, God does not need our lamp. This is the practical aspect to puja which helps us focus on God. Whatever action we do can help the mind focus on the Divine.”

Amma reminded everyone that not everyone gets the opportunity to live in an ashram and meditate. “You need to convert every action into an act of meditation. Not everyone will get this opportunity. It is like winning a lottery—like hitting a jackpot.”

Amma further explained, “If you practice meditation, then eating becomes meditation, walking becomes meditation, sleeping becomes meditation—everything can become meditation.”

“To reach that state, begin with mantra. Chant the mantra with each step. First chant softly. After some practice, chant with the movement of the lips, without any sound coming out. As you gain greater control over the mind, chant without even moving the lips. Chant silently in the mind. Gradually, you will grow into meditation.”

Amma concluded by reminding everyone, “Along with practice, remember that we have come into this world like going on a picnic. Just as a bird goes out in search of food during the day but returns to its nest by evening, we should never forget our eternal home—the feet of Paramatma.”

The family that performs the Ganga Arati came to Amritapuri and offered Arati to Amma. They had traveled to Kerala to attend the Magha Mahotsavam, also known as the Kerala Kumbha Mela.

In the twilight hours, they performed Arati to Amma, the river of Love, in the hall accompanied by the chanting of Veda mantras. While five of them were offering Arati to Amma, Amma reciprocated with a small lamp, performing Arati for them. For her, the Creator and creation are one and the same.

5 February 2026, Amritapuri Ashram

Amma formally inaugurated the Kerala-Lakshadweep Chapter of Youth4Nation at an event in the Amritapuri Ashram. This initiative aims to engage young people as nation-builders based on values, service, and responsible leadership. Youth4Nation provides a platform for youth to channel their energy into community service, leadership, and innovation with guidance from mentoring teams of experienced persons.

Inaugurating the event Amma said: “Not understanding and valuing Indian culture is similar to forgetting your own birth mother. Inner growth and social harmony can occur only when we develop love, respect, and a profound understanding of our cultural roots.”

“Youth should come forward. India is like a rainbow with many cultures, roles, customs, and traditions. Amma only prays that all the children of India can stand united to love and serve the country,” she said.

Other dignitaries in attendance included Prof. G.S. Murthy, Founder & Chairman of Youth4Nation; Prof. D.S. Chauhan, National Chairman; Lt. Gen. V.K. Chaturvedi, National President; P. Balakrishnan; Dr. Raveendranathan; Dr. Yamuna Pathak; along with many senior academicians, veterans, and youth representatives.

14 November, Gavi, Italy – Europe Yatra 2025

After concluding her three-day public program in Piacenza {news}, Amma visited the Italian Ashram (MA Center) in Gavi.

As the cold night set in, Amma came to the grounds for dinner to meet all her Italian children. Everyone huddled together in the cold wind, bathing in Amma’s warmth and love.

A long-time devotee, Priyan, was standing near Amma’s peetham. Amma shared that Priyan first met her in Italy and that he was a lawyer. Amma then recounted a humorous incident from Priyan’s life.

Once, a mosquito bit Priyan on the forehead. He thought, “Everything is Amma, and Amma lives in everything. This mosquito is also Amma… how can I remove it?” So he allowed the mosquito to suck his blood.

Amma remarked that it was Priyan’s innocence that led him to think and act in such a way. She explained that one person’s joy can be another’s sorrow—this is the nature of the universe—but we must use discrimination. If an elephant charges at us, we should not say it is Amma and remain still. We must act with discrimination and according to the dharma of the situation. Even though God is omnipresent, we must act in accordance with our level of awareness—our dharma—in every situation.

Priyan sharing his experience

Amma then asked Priyan to speak, and he shared how he first met her.

“When I first met Amma, I offered her a flower as a symbol of my love, which Amma accepted and adored. In subsequent darshans too, I offered flowers. Whenever I could not find a flower, I would give her an invisible one—an imaginary one—which Amma treated with the same love. Amma did not need a physical flower to understand my intention or feel my love.”

“Many years later, during an Indian tour, I came across the same flower I used to offer Amma. I immediately plucked it to give to her. But Amma was not happy. She asked me, ‘Didn’t you feel the pain you caused the flower? After so many years, you should be sensitive to the pain of the flower.’”

“Initially, the flower was my way of expressing love and devotion. Later, Amma showed me that the true offering is the heart. It should be expressed through love for the world and for Amma, through seva. This is how Amma teaches us—through our own life experiences.” He then thanked Amma for the teaching.

At that moment, an elderly lady slowly rose from the crowd and extended the flower she was holding toward Amma. Amma lovingly accepted the flower, kissed it with great affection, and then embraced the lady. It was her first darshan. The same scene Priyan had described moments earlier unfolded once again before everyone.

The elderly lady was the former owner of the property which Ashram (MA Centere) owns now. Earlier, the property functioned as a hotel owned by three brothers—Marco, Malfredo, and Maurissio—and the visiting card of the hotel read: MA..MA..MA.

“Thank you Amma” – Luna

Later, Luna, a young Italian girl seated on Amma’s peetham, sweetly expressed her gratitude to Amma for coming to Italy.

Amma smiled lovingly, looking into her eyes and began to speak. “Our life should be used to grow in wisdom. Nature is like a book; it offers us many important lessons, and we need to imbibe them properly. If we observe any being in nature, a lesson is imparted to us through them.”

She then narrated a story. “A herd of one hundred elephants was passing through a forest in search of bamboo groves. One elephant thought, ‘If I stay with the herd, I will get only a small portion to eat. I will go ahead and find the next grove so that I can have all the bamboo to myself.’ So it left the herd and went ahead. By the time it reached the next grove and began to eat, the others had finished eating and arrived there. Thinking it could get more, the elephant moved ahead again. This kept happening repeatedly. Finally, the ninety-nine elephants were satisfied, but this ‘smart’ elephant remained hungry for the day.”

Amma concluded, “We should not become like this ‘smart’ elephant. We need to learn to be content with what we have and be grateful for what we are given in life. Otherwise, like this elephant, we will remain hungry for love and security, becoming exhausted and empty.”

Amma then led everyone in meditation, distributed prasad dinner, and sang bhajans while sitting in the backyard of the ashram in Gavy, Italy. In the cold weather of around ten degrees, all felt grateful to be wrapped in the warmth of Amma’s love.

This was Amma’s first visit to the MA center. Amma stayed there overnight before proceeding to the next stop of the Europe Yatra.

1 January, Amritapuri, India – New Year 2026

On the eve of the new year, Amma shared her message and vision for the world. After her address, a series of dance programs were staged. Along with Bharatanatyam, a special highlight featured Kerala’s traditional temple art forms depicting Amma’s beauty and life.

Following the performances, Amma sang two bhajans and led everyone in the mass prayer—chanting “ॐ लोकाः समस्ताः सुखिनो भवन्तु Om Lokah Samasthah Sukhino Bhavantu” 21 times.

Before departing into the blissful night, all received prasad payasam.

Here is the excerpt from Amma’s New Year mesaage:

“Change is the law of nature. Seasons like spring, summer, monsoon, autumn, pre-winter and winter arrive one after the other, and depart the same. When winter comes, trees lose their leaves, letting go of the decaying remnants of a season that has already run its course.

“With the coming of spring, new buds grow. Nature becomes green with vegetation, flowers bloom everywhere, giving joy and delight to all. Similarly, to move forwards successfully along the path of life, we also must abandon the decay within us. Then, true spring will enter our lives as well.

“When the fresh year starts on the calendar, freshness must sprout within us too. Along with the change in surroundings, a creative change must happen in our mindset. We should look back and evaluate our falls, victories, gains and losses.”

Look back, move forward

“As a lion moves forward, it will stop occasionally and look back over its shoulder. Our lives should follow the same principle, looking back from time to time, to assess, “How much progress have I made?” We should set new goals, make fresh commitments and plan our next steps. Once we determine these, then our focus must remain fully in the present.

“Time doesn’t need our permission to change. However, for change to happen in us, our determination and effort are required. It is our yesterdays that created our today. Likewise, it is our actions today—in this very moment—that are shaping our tomorrows. Therefore, focus your attention on the present moment. Use it properly.

“Along with thinking about what to do, we must also think about what we should become and how we should be. To fly in the sky of true peace, one must lighten one’s weight of worries and complaints.”

Learn to truly laugh

“Our life shouldn’t hang upon the lips of others—their praise or criticisms—or upon their successes and failures. Happiness is our birthright. Whether to smile or not is our choice. Today, our amusement lies in mocking and laughing at others.

“Instead, we must try to recall our own moments of folly and laugh at ourselves. Real happiness is that state wherein we forget everything else and remember God. That is true laughter—the joy that rises from deep within. Let us rise to that.

“In life, there are two kinds of wealth—material and spiritual. Happiness, peace, love, friendship, knowledge and moral values are spiritual wealth. These deserve greater importance because they alone bring true satisfaction and make life meaningful.”

Awareness, compassion, effort, surrender

“For internal and external transformation, four principles are essential. The first is awareness, the second is compassion, the third is effort, and the fourth is surrender to God. When these four come together, it will mark the beginning of some beautiful chapters in our life.

“New Year’s reminds us of the unbroken flow of time. Life is a continuous stream of actions and their results. Destiny is self-created. God has given us a canvas. The pen to write on it is in our hand. Destiny is what we write for ourselves through our actions.

“God’s intention is to free us from the bondage of karma. Though sorrow and pain are part of life, the Divine ultimately seeks to uplift us beyond this pair. Therefore, we can never find fault with God. We see only a small fragment of life, while the Divine works on the foundation of perfect wisdom.”

Devotion leads to discovery

“If one were to ask what is most beautiful in human life, it is devotion, pure love for God. In the vast darkness of sorrow and suffering, devotion is the light that holds our hand and leads us forwards. It is like the sacred river Gaṅgā, which washes away all mental impurities. When one attains pure devotion and pure love, life itself becomes blessed.

“Devotion is not mere emotion; it is wisdom. It is inner fulfilment and the discovery of one’s true self. Such devotion becomes possible only for the most courageous. Love awakens from within, and that faith is not blind. That faith is the most luminous. It leads to love and finally to surrender.”

Surrender leads to supreme victory

“Surrender is not slavery; it is unity. It culminates in supreme victory—oneness. When affection matures into love, and love ripens into surrender, the individual soul merges with the Supreme Soul.

“What we need is not a mind that is content with a narrow outlook, but a broad mind that moves forward steadily without faltering. Everyone makes resolutions for the new year, but few follow them. Keep trying continuously. You may fall. If you do, do not lie there lamenting. Make the effort to rise again. Cultivate that spirit and attitude.”

Arise by helping others rise

“Awaken yourself. Uplift yourself. Help others rise as well. At times, you will have to listen to the sorrows of others, but you can share with them whatever understanding you have gained. That is what we are meant to achieve with this birth.

“May the new year be one in which peace and happiness dance across the world. May we be able to realise a meaningful 2026—one that brings us closer to our goal. May divine grace bless all my children to achieve this.”

25 Dec 2025, Amritapuri Ashram

Christmas was celebrated with great enthusiasm by Amma’s children around the world. In fact, preparations began days in advance. Devotees decorated Amma’s pathway with rows of lamps and lights, creating a gentle, festive glow.

During darshan, groups from different countries offered Christmas songs, filling the hall with carols and gratitude. On Christmas Eve, devotees presented cultural programs and dances, weaving together traditions with a spirit of unity.

Amma then delivered her Christmas message, sang a bhajan, and even danced—lifting every heart with a mother’s playful joy.

Speaking on the occasion, Amma said: “Festivals hold a special place in life. They arrive bearing messages of meaningful values that help shape and build our lives. While the outer celebrations are important, it is their inner spiritual messages that should touch and awaken our hearts. They are reminders for us to pause a bit, reflect and renew our inner journey.

“Festivals gain greater importance when they are connected to the lives of mahātmās who spread love and light among ordinary people. Christmas, which celebrates the birth of Jesus, is such a festival. Christmas is a festival of love, joy and compassion. But love, joy and compassion are not like mangoes that appear only in a particular season. We need to be able to experience and embrace them at all times. Festivals remind us of the values we often prefer to forget.

“If we merely glorify the greatness of mahātmās but show indifference towards practicing their teachings in our lives, it serves no purpose—neither for us nor for the world.

“Beyond its rituals and ceremonies, Christmas carries a silent yet powerful call. Christmas calls us to live with awareness, to love more deeply and to act with greater kindness and compassion.

“When forgiveness replaces criticism, compassion replaces indifference, and hope replaces despair—when these qualities reflect in our words, looks, and actions—then the radiance of our inner light increases.

“May the lives of mahātmās renew our minds and make us messengers of peace. Even after the celebrations end, may that light continue to shine within us and illuminate both our paths and the paths of others. May divine grace bless us all.

“Life is as fleeting as a bubble in water. Yet we live our lives pampering our ego. It can burst at any moment. Our next breath is not in our hands. Even to close our mouth after yawning, we need the grace of the unseen power behind that action. Understanding this, let us cultivate surrender and become vessels worthy of grace” prayed Amma.

17 December, Haridwar — Amrita University

Amma met students of Amrita University’s new Haridwar campus online and shared a clear, compassionate roadmap for study and life—stay anchored in the present, focus steadily, and cultivate inner strength rooted in love and awareness. Students asked thoughtful questions and received practical, deeply spiritual guidance that many said they could implement immediately.

Amma urged undivided attention to one’s duties—free from burdens of the past or anxiety about the future—and likened a student’s focus to a horse guided by blinders: avoid distractions and keep moving toward the goal. She also emphasized three keys to success: right action at the right time, sincere effort, and Divine Grace.

Amma while interacting with the students

Students reflects

After listening to Amma, students shared heartfelt reflections that echoed a common theme: calm within, kindness without, and steady daily discipline.

Many described an immediate emotional shift: “I felt calm and peaceful… hopeful,” wrote one student. Another shared, “It felt like a loving, caring mother was talking to us—suddenly my problems felt small.”

Across the responses, three lessons stood out.

First, compassion in action: “The most relevant lesson is to practice compassion, patience, and selfless service in everyday situations.”

Second, inner steadiness: “Live with patience and humility, even when hurting inside.”

Third, disciplined growth: “Be focused and consistent; don’t compare—do your work sincerely.”

Students also translated inspiration into clear next steps. Several resolved to reduce screen time and study with focus: “I’ll stop wasting time on unnecessary videos and give more time to studies and prayer.” Others committed to daily spiritual habits: “Chant regularly, practice gratitude, and meditate.” One student captured it simply: “Kill my laziness.”

Students of Haridwar Campus listening to Amma

Emotional resilience surfaced as a recurring insight. “Loneliness is normal; we each have an individual life to live,” a student wrote, adding that Amma’s words helped them accept and move forward with courage.

Finally, many expressed a quiet confidence after the interaction: “I won’t give up on my studies,” one resolved. “I’ll listen more, help where I can, and be kinder at home,” said another.

Together, the feedback paints a luminous thread: hearts calmed, priorities clarified, and small daily vows—study, chant, be kind—carried home as living sādhanā.

28 Oct, Espoo, Helsinki, Finland – Europe Yatra 2025

The day after the public programs, Amma met 250-odd the local volunteer children one last time before departing. All gathered near the bar area of the ice hockey stadium, crowded around Amma. She asked them to say something, share a joke, or tell stories.

A compost “Vedanta”

One volunteer, Gaurang, shared a story:

“About fifteen years ago, I was doing seva in the compost area in Amritapuri with a man of rather intense temperament. He loved long periods of silence, constantly listening to Vedanta talks on YouTube.

One day, while we were mixing cow dung and bio-waste, he began tossing cow dung across the table. Each time, it splattered all over me.

I asked, ‘Could you please ok stop?’—but he continued.

After a few requests, he finally asked in a ‘Vedantic’ tone, ‘Who is the one that gets angry?’

I lost my patience and replied, ‘I don’t know who it is—but I do know someone on the other side of this table is about to get punched!’”

Amma laughed: “This is modern Vedanta! People read a great deal, but they don’t practice what they learn.”

Advaita must be lived

Amma added, “With true understanding of Vedanta, we must see oneness in everything. When our left hand is hurt, the right hand instinctively soothes it. Or if our finger accidentally pokes our eye, we don’t punish the finger. Eyes and finger—both are ours. When we have this awareness, compassion arises naturally—this is real Advaita.”

Amma recalled a story:

A sadhak once walked through an area where a mad dog roamed free. People warned him, “Don’t go there—there’s a mad dog!”

But the sadhak ignored them and continued walking. The dog ran up and bit him.

Crying loudly, he went to his Guru.

The Guru asked, “Why didn’t you listen when people warned you about the dog?”

“But, Master, you have taught us that everything is Brahman,” replied the disciple.

The Guru smiled and said,

“If you thought the dog was Brahman, why didn’t you think that the people warning you were also Brahman?”

Amma warned, “We need discrimination—the ability to discern and apply wisdom appropriately—if we wish to truly live by these teachings. Intellectual understanding alone is not enough; we must translate that into action.”

“Writing the word honey on paper and licking it won’t give any sweetness,” Amma said. “Similarly, Advaita must be practiced, not merely repeat ‘Aham Brahmasmi’ like a tape recorder. The ancient rishis of India performed tapas for years to realize the Truth; only then did they declare ‘I am the Self’ or ‘All is Brahman.’ We too must make an effort.”

“Advaita is the ultimate truth, a blossomed flower. Instead of repeating ‘I am the flower’ you should become the flower, a flower, which gives beauty and fragrance. Live the principle.”

Tapasvi a transformer

“If we are like street lamps, the tapasvi—the true practitioner—is like the transformer. Spiritual practice generates tremendous energy and can serve many. ”

On sadhana, Amma reminded: “Mantra japa is one of the easiest methods. Remember to chant the mantra. Chant recalling and reflecting on the purpose.—ōrthu japikkuka, ōrttōrthu japikkuka (ഓർത്ത് ജപിക്കുക. ഓർത്തോർത്ത് ജപിക്കുക) —and do it with awareness. It leads us to our real Self. We may begin with enthusiasm, but the real test is consistency and sustaining it. Like a spider tirelessly spinning its web, keep practicing. Try to keep chanting the mantra wherever you are. We all have time for mantra chanting if we truly wish to use it. Try to repeat your mantra while doing your daily tasks.”

“Our body will perish sooner or later—better to wear it out in performing selfless actions than let it rust in idleness,” Amma said. “We should not become blind to the pain and sorrows of others. Our hearts should expand. Learn to see others’ suffering as your own and be sensible enough to respond at their level of understanding. When you no longer see others as separate, you naturally strive to ease their pain. This is truly Vedanta in action,” Amma explained—the way of practice of Vedanta.

Clapping and laughing

Amma wanted everyone—especially her Finnish children—to laugh. Noticing the crowd’s seriousness during the program, she asked all to clap and laugh aloud. All happily clapped and cheered. It might have lasted for a minute.

Amma continued: “We have only the present moment. Accept life as it comes,” she said. “There’s no point living in constant fear; you cannot lock yourself indoors forever.”

When someone said, “Finnish people keep their happiness inside,” Amma smiled: “Flowers are enjoyed in full bloom, not as tight buds. If emotions are locked away, the number of hospitals and prisons will only increase.”

“If honey is trapped in a rock, no one can enjoy it. When you coo or play with a child, that’s an expression of love; only expressed love is truly felt. When joy fills you, express it—every cell comes alive. Amma knows it may not be the Finnish way, but as Amma’s children, you all try to change. When you give, you receive so much—keep trying!”

Amma then served prasād lunch, sang a few bhajans, and took leave for France—giving the Finnish children a demo version of laughter and a smile lesson forever.

28 Nov 2025, Amritapuri Ashram

Kochunni’s parents are from Colombia and Korea. He wants to live in the ashram. He’s hardly seven, but he came with a question as Amma was returning from darshan.

“Amma, I have vasana for buying a lot of things. How do I overcome it?”

Amma was genuinely surprised.

She looked at him and asked, “If you have a lot of food and a poor child who hasn’t eaten for many days is sitting in front of you, will you eat everything yourself, or will you share?”

“I will share,” Kochunni said immediately.

“In the same way,” Amma told him, “when you feel like buying something, remember there are many children who can’t afford such things. Think of them, and you’ll get the strength to overcome that desire. And even if you buy something, buy it and give it to a child who has less privileged.”

He nodded with full understanding, and Amma walked away to her room with that happy, gentle smile.

A seven-year-old asking about vasana. Yes, only in Amma’s world.

17 Oct – 25 Nov – Europe Yatra 2025

The recently concluded Europe Yatra witnessed an extraordinary wave of spiritual awakening, with Amma blessing 9,429 people across ten cities with sacred Guru mantras. Each person received not just a mantra, but a living seed of divine remembrance—a silent prayer placed gently in the heart.

The response at each location reflected a profound yearning for inner growth: The Hague, Netherlands – 412; Esher, London – 809; Brombachtal, Germany – 519; Piacenza, Italy – 1,364; Munich, Germany – 509; Chartres, France – 1,696; Aix-en-Provence, France – 1,620; Helsinki, Finland – 410; Granollers, Spain – 1,200; and Winterthur, Switzerland – 890.

Each aspirant received a personal mantra corresponding to their spiritual inclination and chosen ishta devata, or preferred aspect of the Divine. Every seeker connects with the Divine differently—some are drawn to the formless through love, light, peace, or awareness, while others revere deities such as Shiva, Krishna, Durga, Kali, Muruga, or Ganesha. Many requested mantras related to the elements—earth, water, fire, trees, and the sun—reflecting the inclusive spirit of Hinduism, which embraces all paths of worship.

People from varied cultures and faiths found unity in Amma’s universal vision. The participants included followers of Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, and those unaffiliated with any religion. Amma’s compassionate approach welcomed all, offering mantras that harmonized with each person’s inner faith and devotion.

* * *

Touching Moments

Many beautiful and deeply moving experiences unfolded during the mantra initiations.

During the mantra intiation, one aspirant shared that his favorite aspect of the Divine was creation. Amma smiled and said gently, “Creation and Creator are not different,” before blessing him with the mantra of the Creator itself.

In another tender moment, a Japanese family approached Amma, wishing for their two-year-old daughter to receive a mantra along with them. Understanding their devotion, Amma agreed. Since the child was too young to choose, the parents selected a mantra for love. Amma joyfully initiated the child, blessing the parents also with mantras.

Receiving a mantra from Amma was an invaluable blessing. The parents knew that instilling spiritual values early in life would help their child grow with awareness and compassion. They deeply understood the importance of this moment—if not now, when would they meet Amma again? After all, Amma was visiting their country after six long years.

During another initiation, a devotee asked Amma for a love mantra. Amma reflected, “Does anyone have pure love? All human love is mixed with selfishness. Then what is the purpose of asking for a mantra for love?” She explained that chanting transforms the heart—beginning from selfish love, we evolve toward pure, unconditional love. “It’s like using bait to catch a big fish,” Amma said.

Amma intiating Mantra

* * *

The Process of Receiving a Mantra

Aspirants would approach Amma during darshan to request a mantra. Before receiving it, they attended a short session explaining the significance and the need of proper practice. Only those who committed to chanting the mantra daily for at least ten minutes were allowed to proceed.

Amma would often pause her darshan to give mantras to groups of 50–100 people at a time, softly whispering each sacred sound into their ears. The swami assisting Amma would listen carefully, as the mantra was unique for every individual, and note it down on a piece of paper. Later, a volunteer would provide the recipient with a printed copy of their mantra.

At times, she gave mantras by the side after giving darshan to 10-20 people. Many times they were waiting for hours patiently, their hearts filled with devotion and anticipation.

After initiation, participants received guidance on posture, pronunciation, and how to maintain regular practice. Dedicated volunteers joyfully helped ensure that each person left with clarity, devotion, and renewed spiritual purpose.

Across every stop of the yatra, the devotion of the gatherings was palpable. The event was not merely like a festival—it was a living movement that reminded thousands of their innate connection to the Divine and the universality of love, faith, and awareness.

* * *

Guru Dakshina for Guru Mantra

You may wonder whether Amma receives Guru Dakshina for giving these mantras. The answer is a resounding NO. Amma never accepts any offering for mantra initiation. As Amma beautifully explains, “If someone were to charge for a mantra or meditation, it would be like a mother asking for money for the breast milk she gives her child. These are given purely out of love and compassion.”

Each mantra is a gift from Amma’s boundless heart—an expression of divine grace, not a transaction. It is this selfless spirit that touches people deeply.

According to tradition, when one receives a Guru Mantra, it is customary—our āchāra, or code of conduct—to offer Guru dakshina, an expression of gratitude to the Master. Guru Dakshina is not what we give, instead what Guru asks you to give. It can take many forms, depending on the Guru’s wish. What Amma asks from us is only one thing: “Let your life be of some use to society. With our life, try to wipe the tears, ease the suffering of at least two people. Love the world more and more selflessly. Show compassion to those in need.”

When we begin to see the entire world as the form of the Guru or the Divine, and learn to love and serve it with that awareness, that is the highest Guru Dakshina one can ever offer to Amma.

Amma’s compassionate act is more than a blessing—it is the quiet sowing of spiritual seeds. Even if only a fraction of these seeds — say, ten percent — take root and bloom, their fragrance will uplift the world through peace, compassion, and selfless love.

24–25 November, Rijswijk, The Hague, The Netherlands – Europe Yatra 2025

Amma held a two-day program in Rijswijk, at De Broodfabriek Expo Hall. Outside, the wind and rain made it feel like –6°C, but inside the atmosphere was warm with devotion. Amma’s stage had a beautiful backdrop featuring Vincent van Gogh’s famous painting Almond Blossom.

The Mayor of Rijswijk, Mrs. Huri Sahin, welcomed Amma with great delight: “It is a great honor for me to welcome you today to Rijswijk. Amma’s presence is a source of inspiration for many. All over the world she touches people with her message of compassion, care, and connectedness.
As you know, the name Amma means ‘mother.’ A mother figure stands for warmth, protection, attention, and a deeply felt responsibility for the well-being of others. This symbolism touches me particularly, because as mayor I also, in a certain sense, fulfill a role sometimes affectionately referred to as the ‘mother of the city’: someone who, within the possibilities of the office, strives to foster a safe, just, and caring community.
Of course, our responsibilities differ, but the underlying values—caring for people, being close, paying attention to those who face difficulties—connect us today in a special way. Especially in a time when living together is sometimes under pressure, her words and her example remind us how important it is to continue working toward understanding, compassion, and humility. I find that especially valuable.”

Kumar Tuhin, Ambassador of India to the Netherlands

Mr. Kumar Tuhin, Ambassador of India to the Netherlands, shared: “In a world that often feels divided by borders and beliefs, Amma arrives here waving no flags except the flag of the human heart. She brings only open arms and a mother’s boundless embrace. Millions, like me and you all, have felt seen, accepted, and healed. In today’s world that sometimes feels cold, hurried, and disconnected, Amma reminds us of something Dutch people have always understood deeply: the value of human warmth and solidarity. When Amma hugs you, you do not feel you are meeting a stranger from India—you are coming home to your own mother.”

Mrs. Aarti Ramsodit, Senator—Parliament, reflected: “Amma belongs to all identities. I am grateful for the fact that Amma is amongst us for the 21st time, with all of you. Amma is that true love—love for each other, love for the world. The energy that is she radiates is even beyond Rijswijk, even beyond the Netherlands. It radiates to the world.”

Across both days, Amma led meditation, gave satsang, and sang bhajans. To the delight of the devotees Amma sang a bhajn in Dutch language. Amma addressed the gatherings in Malayalam, with translation into Dutch so all could receive the message.

Over 412 people received mantra from Amma. On the second day, Amma led Atma Puja for world peace and harmony. At the end of darshan, as the hall clapped in joy, Amma danced a few steps to the tune of “rarari rararo.”

As Amma prepared to leave, many devotees wept—already missing her, wondering when they would see her again and some out of gratitude for her invaluable visit to thier country.

After the program, Amma visited the ashram in Zeist and stayed overnight before departing for Amritapuri, concluding ten programs across eight countries in forty days.

20-22 Nov, Sandown Park, Esher, UK – Europe Yatra 2025

After her program in the Hof Herrenberg Ashram, Amma and the tour group traveled through Germany, across Belgium and finally traversing the northern coast of France before arriving at the famous engineering marvel, “The Chunnel”. After crossing the 50km passage under the English Channel the tour group arrived to the United Kingdom.

For the next three days large crowds braved the frigid temperatures outside to experience the warmth of Amma’s embrace. Each day a full hall was packed with people sharing wonderful moments of meditation, satsang, bhajans and darshan.

On the first day of the program Amma was welcomed to the UK by several dignitaries. These included Shivani Raja MP, adventurer Karen Darke and entrepreneur Poppy Jamie.

Addressing the crowd, Shivani Raja, Member of Parliament said: “As an MP, I spend much of my time dealing with the immediate pressures people face at home. It is deeply striking to me that Amma’s entire life has been dedicated to addressing the same challenges but on a global scale …and not through policy or politics but through compassion and service. “

Next, Karen Darke, who is a British Paralympic cyclist, Paratriathlete, adventurer and author said, “Life is an adventure, it’s a journey to learn and grow from. Nothing I have ever accomplished could have been done without incredible people, connection, compassion, love, belief, trust. We think we are not enough, it’s part of being human but I love to remind myself of the quote : ” Our mind is a garden, our thoughts are the seeds, we can plant flowers or we can grow weed ” With these flowers, wonderful things can happen, even more so since I met Amma as Magic happens around Amma.”

The entrepreneur, television presenter and best-selling author Poppy Jamie welcomed Amma, “It is a huge honor to be in the company of someone so selfless, so in service to humanity’s rising. Amma represents a choice we all hold : to choose a life of love, fulfilling our greatest potential or remain sucked in the chaos and selfishness that everyday life can present.
Thank you Amma for being this shining light, constantly inspiring us to choose and re-choose a life of love and a life of kindness”

After the programs in the United Kingdom, Amma visited the Ashram and traveled back to continental Europe to conclude her tour with the final program in Holland.

After completing the Italy program, Amma began her journey toward MA Center Germany in Brombachtal. On the way, Amma made a stop in Achern, where everyone gathered by a tranquil lakeside for lunch. As Amma lovingly served the meal, the group sang bhajans and meditated in the serene atmosphere. By the time Amma finished serving, the sky had turned into a brilliant tapestry of orange and deep red—an unforgettable sunset that felt like nature itself offering pranams.

That evening, Amma arrived at Brombachtal Ashram, where dinner was served upon arrival. A large group of children came eagerly onto the stage to sit near Amma, singing bhajans with innocent joy as Amma smiled and clapped along.

The following morning, Amma was welcomed with a traditional Bavarian flower arch, held high with devotion by volunteers lined up in perfect formation, their hearts overflowing as Amma entered the hall.

Andreas Koch, Mayor of Brombachtal

The inauguration ceremony was blessed by several distinguished guests.
Mr. Andreas Koch, Mayor of Brombachtal, offered a heartfelt welcome:
“If you could stand up here and see this—so many smiling faces, so many people who have made the long journey to Brombachtal—it is incredible. We discovered that Amma and I share something deeply important: the wish to help young people face the challenges of the future in peace and cooperation. War is not the way to live on this beautiful earth.
Amma has shown how many villages she has led into a future. I told her I want to do the same—locally, with five villages. I will do my very best.”

His Excellency, Mr. Ajit Gupte, Ambassador of India to Germany, shared:
“It is an honor to receive Amma for the fourth time. People have come together out of love and a spirit of service. Amma’s work links ancient wisdom with real-world action—her message transcends religion, nationality, age, and background. Love is not just a sentiment, but a power that can heal and transform. I warmly thank Amma for her visit and request her to come to Germany more often.”

Mrs. Martina Merz, one of the 100 most influential women in the world

The program also welcomed Mrs. Martina Merz, (She was named the most powerful woman in German business by Manager Magazin and voted one of the 100 most influential women in the world by Forbes magazine) one of the most influential leaders in European industry and former CEO of ThyssenKrupp:
“It is perhaps the greatest honor of my life to be here today. Although India is vast and diverse, it remains peaceful because something greater connects people—love, respect, and the determination not to turn against one another. I am grateful that people gather here to support each other and keep a vision of a better future.”

Throughout the gathering, the hall overflowed with devotion. On the final day, AYUDH members welcomed Amma with joy—waving national flags and releasing red-and-white heart-shaped balloons as they sang with all their hearts. Responding to their love and respect, Amma advised them to discover their true inner potential and to become a light unto themselves first—so they may better serve society {read more}.

Amma led satsang, bhajans, a guided meditation, and Atma Puja, offering solace and strength to all who attended. She also sang a German bhajan, filling the hall with emotion as many sang along through tears.

During darshan, many approached Amma to clarify their spiritual doubts and seek solutions to life’s problems. One young man said he was addicted to electronic gadgets and had been wasting time on games, cinema, and other unhealthy videos for years. “How do I come out of it?” he asked.
Amma gave a simple, practical advice: “take vow, once a week I will not touch any of the gadgets.” Receiving this guidance, he walked away happy and confident.

Across the program, over 500 people received mantra initiation, marking a deeply sacred milestone for the Frankfurt Amma community.

Every evening, Amma concluded darshan with a few gentle dance steps, filling the hall with laughter and divine playfulness.

On the final night, as Amma stepped into the camper at the end of the program, soft snowflakes began to fall—an ethereal farewell blessing from the heavens.

With hearts overflowing, devotees watched Amma depart as she continued her journey, driving onward to the United Kingdom, carrying her message of peace and compassion to the next destination of her European tour.

11–13 November, Piacenza, Italy – Europe Yatra 2025

After completing the Munich program, Amma visited the local ashram and continued toward Italy. The drive led through the breathtaking Alps—snow-capped peaks rising in silent majesty on either side.

On the way, Amma made a short stop at the shores of Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy. In the gentle afternoon light, the lakeside pause soon became a joyful satsang, filled with Amma’s laughter, stories, bhajans and lunch prasad.{read more}

When Amma arrived in Piacenza, the hall overflowed with devotion as thousands welcomed her like a mother returning home. Devotees held colorful paper hearts as symbolic offerings of love and gratitude, alongside one large heart reading, “Thank you, Amma, for blessing Italy for 30 years.”

Devotees with full of hearts

The opening ceremony was graced by esteemed guests. Dr. Katia Tarasconi, Mayor of Piacenza, offered a heartfelt welcome: “I really wanted to welcome Amma to the city of Piacenza. At a time in history when there is so much violence and evil in the world, Amma’s message is the most important message of all.”

While Amma was seated on the peetham, against the backdrop “You are the light – tu sei la luce,” beams of sunlight touched the stage and fell upon Amma.

You are the light

Romina Power, beloved icon of Italian music and cinema, shared her deep admiration: “Amma’s humanitarian projects speak for themselves—there is nothing more to add. Being close to Amma is a constant source of love.”

She then sang a few lines of her legendary song Felicità, changing the refrain to: “Felicità… è stare con Amma in questa occasione.” The whole hall joined in, echoing the melody with devotion and joy.

Anna Agnelli, director and filmmaker of ‘Amma’s Way‘, offered her gratitude: “I thank Amma for coming back to Italy, even though distance does not exist—she is always with us. Amma is the inspiration behind all projects, but we are her hands. We must keep this truth in our hearts and serve her mission.”

Amrita University signed an MoU with Italy’s National Research Council (CNR), collaborating with its Institute for Geo-Hydrological Protection (IRPI). After the signing, Dr. Tommaso Moramarco, Director, IRPI, said: “Thank you for giving me a completely new experience. I am a researcher, and I didn’t know Amma, but she surprised me. I live in the land of St. Francis of Assisi, and I found Amma’s mission to be very much in line with St. Francis. It was Amma who inspired the universities represented here and gave us the strength to be convinced of what we are doing by signing the MoU. With this, we aim to contribute to mitigating climate change.”

Signing MoU with National Research Council

Amrita University signed another MoU with the University of Rome Tre, represented by Prof. Giovanni Formica, Head of the Department of Architecture.

Dr. Moro, economist and C20 Sherpa in 2023, shared how he discovered civil society’s ability to uplift the most vulnerable people when Amma became the Hon’ble Chair of C20 in 2023.

Across all three days, Amma gave satsang, sang bhajans, and led meditation. In the Italy program alone, Amma gave mantra initiation to 1,364 people, marking a profoundly sacred milestone in the lives of these devotees.

During darshan, local devotees sang bhajans with all their heart. Amma joyfully encouraged them—clapping after each bhajan and even giving a big thumbs-up to the singers.

Each day, Amma concluded the program with a few graceful dance steps, filling the hall with delight. On the final evening, Amma danced together with three small children, creating a moment of pure sweetness that brought smiles and tears to many eyes.

After blessing Piacenza with three days of programs, Amma stayed overnight at MA Center Italy in Gavi. That evening, despite the cold, Amma met the volunteer devotees outdoors—sharing jokes, satsang, and bhajans—and then served dinner prasad. The next morning, Amma departed for MA Centre in Brombachtal, Germany, the next stop of the Europe Yatra.

10 Nov, Lake Garda, Italy – Europe Yatra 2025

On the drive from Munich, Germany to Piacenza, Italy, cutting through the Alps mountains, Amma stopped by Lake Garda, the country’s largest lake, to spend some time and have lunch with the tour group. The temperature was around 13°C; the warm autumn sun welcomed Amma as she walked to her chair. The cold air was alive with chirping and the crackling of dry leaves. Tall trees, nearly bare in the cold, stood waiting for winter.

Amma admired the vast lake, framed by mountains and endless sky. Someone invited her to move closer to the water. But Amma was already seated. She said the sky reminds her of the Infinite—the boundless, our true Self. Amma continued: “At present we are like birds living in a cage—fed, pampered and loved, yet sorrowful—unaware of the freedom and joy of flying in the vast sky. In the same way, we remain ignorant of our true nature. Our real potential lies hidden within, and we are unable to experience life in its fullness. Our goal should be to go beyond limitations and awaken to this Truth.”

Recalling a school-day story of the clay ball and the dry leaf, Amma explained that external supports and joys are temporary; our only true refuge is the Self. We must awaken to this reality and live with constant awareness like in an exam hall.

Someone pointed out the swans and ducks in the lake, tempting Amma to go nearer. She shared an anecdote from the San Ramon ashram: a pair of swans and a duck never got along. But when one swan died, the duck and the remaining swan grew close, even saving food for one another. “Suffering can awaken compassion,” Amma said.

Amma distributed prasād and chanted Brahmārpaṇam. Before starting her lunch, she looked up lovingly at the trees and spoke to them:
“O trees! we will have to eat without feeding you.
I am very sad about it.
It’s under your shade we are sitting and eating.
But we are not aware about it.
We are going to eat without feeding you.
Then how can you be happy ?
There isn’t even a breeze and your branches are bare.
Are you sad?
Are you hungry?”

Then Amma added,
“You do one thing:
We will eat now and then sing for you.
If you enjoy it, sway your branches—then we’ll know you are happy.”

Offering a spoonful to the trees

Amma offered a spoonful “to the trees and the wind,” and a breeze lifted the food right off the spoon!

After lunch Amma sang a few devotional songs. At first the air was still; but when Amma sang classical pieces, the branches began to dance in the wind. Amma told the trees how wonderful it was to see them swing, taking it as a sign of their joy.

Amma feeding the swan

Amma then walked towards the lake. Amma really loved the crackling of dry leaves when hundreds of people walked over them. Reaching the lake, Amma called to the swans in Italian—“Vieni, vieni!”—beckoning them to come. Though they were far and there was a crowd, two swans glided straight towards Amma when they heard her voice, and she fed them with pieces of bread.

Later, Amma sat quietly on a nearby bench, watching the lake’s ceaseless ripples. She shared her “conversation with the ripples” to some of her children later—her sadness at not being able to kiss them and tell them stories as she did in childhood by the backwaters, and her wish to hug them. She told them she was showering them, in her mind, with hugs and kisses, and asked if they had any thoughts to share with her.

The day glowed with nature’s soulfulness: picturesque beauty, the song of wind and waves, the dance of trees and clouds, the silent majesty of sun and mountains and the crackling sound when you walk over the dry leaves which Amma enjoyed a lot.

Amma enjoing walking over the dry leaves

Earlier Amma had spoken of true freedom—going beyond our limitations. She then lived that teaching in her tender conversations with trees, swans, and ripples. For her, all are divine. It was echoed in the song she sang during the lunch stop: “Sṛṣṭiyum nīyē, sraṣṭāvum nīyē—You are the creation, You are the Creator…” Enfolding the beauty of nature and the Truth shining through it, Amma’s blissful rendering filled our eyes with tears and hearts with joy. Words fall short before the depth of that union we witnessed.

Hof Herrenberg, Brombachtal, Germany — Europe Yatra 2025

On the third day of the program, AYUDH organised a joyful reception for Amma as she came to the stage. Members held national flags and waved them in welcome. As soon as Amma sat on the stage, the crowd released red and white heart-shaped balloons across the hall. AYUDH also announced its project for 2026.

Responding to their love, Amma took the microphone and said:

“Nowadays many young people focus only on the external; only a small minority looks within. We keep looking outside, trying to become like the reflection in the mirror. Instead of getting caught in the reflection, we must discover the Self behind it.

“We live in a world where gadgets play a major role. They are useful—yes—but we must distinguish between need and want. Sadly, many are confined to their gadget-world; we don’t help a fallen person up, lend a hand, or listen to another’s sorrow. Face-to-face listening is disappearing. As we become more self-centered and stop looking around, the number of hospitals, old-age homes, and even prisons keeps increasing. All this happens in a love-starved society.

“From this selfishness spring many other negativities that lead to crime and violence. So many youths are becoming addicted to drugs, which is more terrifying than a war. They cannot benefit themselves, nor can they benefit society.

“Many young buds never blossom into flowers. These are the very flowers meant to offer fragrance, love, light, and service to the world. Instead, they are eaten away by the worms of addictions at the bud stage and wither, leaving sorrow for their families and society.

“My dear children, you should find the Light within. In truth, you are that Light. There is infinite potential in each of you. You are not candles to be lit by someone else—you are self-effulgent like the sun.

“Do not whimper like kittens; roar like lion cubs. All the potential is already within—awaken to your true Self. The scriptures proclaim, ‘Uttiṣṭhata, Jāgrata’—Arise, awake! Amma prays that you have the strength to do this.

“If today’s world has youths like AYUDH, we can bring real change. You are the true hope for the future. If you live these values, society will be uplifted.

“There are two kinds of poverty. The first is the lack of food, clothing, and shelter. The second is the lack of love and compassion. If the second is removed, the first will automatically be taken care of.

“Let love and compassion grow—especially in the young. If they awaken at a very young age, it will be a great blessing for the world.

“This human birth has a higher purpose. If life is only to eat, drink, sleep, and procreate, how are we different from an earthworm? An earthworm does these things too, yet it doesn’t harm nature; it enriches the soil. Humans only take from nature in life—and even after death, through chemicals in burial or the resources used in cremation. This life is meant for a higher goal, and the young should awaken to it from an early age. When a turtle moves across the sand, it leaves a mark. Likewise, we must leave a trail of goodness to guide future generations on the right path.

“Amma prays that more and more youngsters cultivate a mindset to serve society, that they have the strength to serve the world, be filled with selfless love for all, grow in their lives, and spread the fragrance of love and light. Amma prays to the Paramātman that such a generation keeps growing in this world.”

With heartfelt applause, the hall echoed Amma’s call to “find the light within,” as AYUDH youth pledged themselves once more to love, service, and responsible leadership.

7-9 Nov, Munich, Germany – Europe Yatra 2025

After concluding the Chartres program in France, Amma traveled by road to Munich, Germany, where she was warmly received by local devotees who gathered to greet her and receive prasad. As she entered the venue for the Munich program, Amma was welcomed in the traditional Bavarian way—with beautifully arranged flower arches offered with devotion and joy.

The inauguration ceremony featured two distinguished guests who shared heartfelt reflections on Amma’s life and message.

Ms. Lisa Paus, Member of the German Bundestag and former Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Youth, and Senior Citizens, spoke on the urgent need for compassion in society.
She reflected, “Much of what drives and motivates Amma is also our responsibility—not only globally, but here at home in Germany. Even in this wealthy country, many people are poor… Poverty affects families, single parents, children, older people, and people with disabilities.

Amma reminds us that compassion must not remain in our hearts, but be put into action. We must not accept poverty or relativize violence. We must stand for a world that is warm-hearted, courageous, and rooted in human rights, dignity, and participation.”

Thomas Schmauser, acclaimed actor and recipient of the 2025 Best Actor of the Year award, also shared his admiration:
“Tonight I will perform Mephisto for four hours and receive an award afterwards. But actually, that means almost nothing to me, because meeting Amma is so much more important. Amma’s love works—it creates change and helps so many people. I thank her from the bottom of my heart.”

Tanja Seehofer, bestselling author and Yin Yoga ambassador, highlighted Amma’s universal motherhood:
“Amma connects people worldwide. She shows us that true love is nonjudgmental and without boundaries. In her hugs, she gives a warmth that comforts and touches our hearts. She teaches us to find peace not only outside but within ourselves, so we can maintain harmony regardless of circumstances.”

During the program, Tom Cook from the Mohawk tribe approached Amma to seek blessings for the Lakota community of North America, where 20,000 people are facing severe hardship. He offered a traditional prayer to the spirits, accompanying it with a drum performance before Amma.

Throughout the three days, a Bavarian music ensemble performed at the program, adding cultural richness to the atmosphere, while local devotees offered heartfelt bhajans.

A particularly joyful moment occurred during a special bhajan session by Greek devotees, who concluded the second day with dance and the soulful refrain: “Ella Amma, Ella Amma…” (“Come Amma, come”). Their call, filled with devotion, echoed through the hall as they invited Amma to visit Greece.

“children” who used to sit on Amma’s peetham

An endearing highlight of the Munich gathering was the presence of many children who had been part of Amma’s earlier programs in the city. Their reunion with Amma brought back cherished memories, capturing the continuity of Amma’s relationship with families across generations for over 30 years. All of these children once used to sit on stage with Amma. In fact, some first “met Amma” while still in their mothers’ wombs, and few were born with Amma’s blessings. Now they are grown—some are parents, others are working—and all serve on the organizing committee for Amma’s programs.

Each evening, Amma concluded Darshan with a few lighthearted dance steps, filling the hall with laughter and joy. Over 500 people received Mantra from Amma over the 3 days of the program.

After the conclusion of the three-day program, Amma visited the Munich Ashram, where she performed a brief puja and met with residents in a warm informal gathering.

Amma then departed for Piacenza, Italy, where her next program will take place.

3–5 November, Chartres, France – Europe Yatra 2025

Upon arrival at Chartres, in the autumn chill—5°C with gusty winds—Amma met volunteer devotees outdoors for nearly three hours, singing bhajans, sharing satsang, and distributing dinner prasad.

Swamini Amritajyoti introduced and welcomed Amma through a poem. AYUDH members sang as devotees followed the text on the screen:

After six years of silence,
Amma returns to tread the soil of France.
Our hearts open to this immense source
like flowers to the sun of her presence.
Amma, your embrace abolishes fear,
And restores humanity to its true greatness.
Your heart embraces without boundaries,
The humble, the strong, the entire earth.
O Amma, ocean of light,
Through your love, the world hopes—
Joy, gratitude, wonder—every breath becomes prayer.
Amma has joined us: blessing.
Amma is here: celebration!

With heartfelt applause, Amma was welcomed to the stage.

There were several dignitaries to greet Amma. Sylvie Retailleau, former France’s Minister of Higher Education and Research and currently President of Paris-Sud University, welcomed Amma and appreciated her work—particularly Amrita University:
“The scale of what has been achieved in thirty years is impressive. one thing struck me in particular is the spirit, values, and care that go into the various projects for the students. Amma wants students to experience the different realities of society firsthand. She wants to help them understand how they can listen, act, and use their skills and knowledge to provide solutions and make a real difference in people’s lives. I know from 35 years of experience how demanding this work is.”

Mrs Eenam Gambhir, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indian Embassy to France, said: “Amma is indeed one of the very few and very important women spiritual leaders from India and one of the foremost ambassadors of India’s spiritual heritage. Amma, your message of love and compassion, your teachings and universal embrace are not only seen in the energy in the people that you impact but also embodied in the initiatives that are helping the youth and women, and everybody who is in search of love and compassion in this world.”

Swamini Amritajyoti Prana, Amma’s senior disciple who guides the French ashrams, released her autobiography—Le Bonheur est une Décision (Happiness is a Decision)—sharing deep reflections on life with Amma.

Amma officially inaugurated Aînés du Plessis, an old-age home offering a natural, intergenerational, and spiritual living environment.

On the second day, His Excellency Mr. Sanjeev Singla, Ambassador of India to France, shared: “Through her message and actions, Amma shows us that true spirituality lies not only in prayer or meditation, but in serving humanity with compassion and humility.

Her message embodies the values that unite India and France: respect for humanity, harmony with nature, and service to others. Amma’s work not only uplifts individuals, but also strengthens the bridge of friendship and understanding between our two nations.

On behalf of the Embassy of India in Paris, I extend my deepest gratitude to Amma and her volunteers for their tireless dedication to building bridges of peace and compassion. May her visit inspire each of us to live with greater love, awareness, and spirit of service toward our fellow human beings.”

M. John Ayite Dosavi, UNESCO Chair at Headquarters in Paris, presented the KÉKÉLI Award to Amma:
“Many thanks to Amma for agreeing to receive the 2026 Kékéli Award. This is a civil society award linked to International Day for African and Afro-Descendant Culture, which has been adopted by United Nations member states, including India. This award is given to individuals from all walks of life who work for peace, harmony, social cohesion, and above all, who share love.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the attention you are giving to Africa, which is our common cradle. We are all proud to have come from this cradle that is Africa.”

“We were right when we decided to offer you with this award… I ask you to applaud Amma” John urged the audience.

Following UNESCO’s proclamation of World Day for African Culture and Culture of African Descent, Mr. Dosavi created the KÉKÉLI Award.

Famous singer Marie Philomene and her group performed for Amma, rocking the hall and lifting spirits.

During darshan, one devotee offered Amma her volunteer jacket. Amma wore it for a long time while embracing people, to everyone’s delight.

Across all three days, Amma addressed the gathering, led MA-Om meditation, and sang bhajans, including a French bhajan—Sivoham Jyotiraham. She hugged all who came. 1,700 people received mantra from Amma.

Each evening, at the close of darshan, Amma danced a few steps to the tune of “Rarari Rararo,” as the whole hall clapped and swayed in unison.

On the final day, Amma conducted Atma Puja and prayers for world peace. Darshan concluded at 6:10 am, and Amma departed for Munich for her next program—leaving an unforgettable impression of pure love in every heart.

Amma’s visit to Pontgouin Amma Center

1–2 November, Pontgouin, France

After the programs in southern France, Amma traveled toward Chartres, near Paris, and stayed the night at the Amma Center in Pontgouin. Under the moon, beside the pond and the old castle, Amma sang bhajans and served dinner prasad to the volunteers, warming hearts in the chilly 6°C wind.

The Ashram is an ancient castle—originally a 13th-century manor—set within a large park and fields. It retains the old moat, now home to ducks and geese, three slate-roofed towers, and a farmhouse with stables and barns, altogether spread across six hectares.

In the morning, Amma toured the gardens -vegetable garden, under the trees with yellow and brown leaves- and the unique “bee house,” built only of hay, clay, and wood. Its walls hold beehives, and the bees themselves maintain the room’s temperature through winter and summer. There is no electrification or heating. The bees’ entrance is from outside the wall. The soft buzz is constant, and the hives yearly yielded nearly 500 kg of honey. Amma reviewed many aspects of the structure with loving attention.

By the pond, Amma fed the fish and stepped into a small boat. Taking the oar, she rowed across—left, right, and to the far edges—while the devotee who had prepared the boat sat quietly inside, watching with tears of joy. After about twenty minutes, when Amma returned to shore, cheers and smiles filled the air.

The devotee Ojas, who lives at the Amma Center, had applied for leave from his workplace, but it was not sanctioned. He could not travel to Aix-en-Provence and would not be able to attend the Chartres program either. He had only one Sunday off—and he was the one chosen to be in the boat with Amma, a once-in-a-lifetime blessing.

Since its acquisition in 2002, the Amma Center, Pontgouin, has been steadily restored to historic conservation standards while evolving into a model ecological campus. Extensive vegetable gardens help sustain the residents.

The center is also home to an ecovillage dedicated to a sustainable and supportive way of life. Residents use bio-sourced materials, renewable energy, and thoughtful water systems, balancing family life, seva, and spiritual practice. Twenty-eight homes welcome a diverse, multi-generational community.

These houses follow eco-building standards: highly insulated, near-passive design; no fossil-fuel heating; dry toilets; and solar hot water. One example is a 140 m² family home heated with about 2 m³ of wood per year. Water and sanitation rely on three reed-bed systems that recycle greywater, and the site hydrology—valleys, ponds, and basins—supports wet winters and dry summers.

Amma also visited the new old-age home near the ecovillage. As she arrived, a rainbow arced in welcome. Amma performed a small puja, led a prayer with the ten residents, gave darshan, and took a group photo with the residents and sevaks before proceeding to the main program venue.
