Mentholatum Deep Moist – Natural

It’s fragrance-free and comes in an oval shape. Honestly, I haven’t seen any lip balms in oval instead of the traditionally round before. With the larger surface area, it’s easier for me to apply – one swipe and I’m done. However, for ladies with small lips, you will need to take extra care to not over applied it. Having previously reviewed Lip Pure from the same brand, the after effect is very different. Deep moist gives a more matte but moisturised feel whereas Lip Pure is more glossy and wet. Deep Moist would be highly recommended to be used before lip sticks or glosses as it moisturised well without being too “slippery” such that your lip sticks/glosses won’t stay. Packed with the goodness of Avocado Oil and Hyaluronic Acid, it’s a good balm to be used together with other lip products in my opinion to keep the flakings and peelings off your beautiful lips!

Hada Labo Whitening Lotion (New Nano Formula)

This is often used as a toner though it can be double up as a lightweight moisturizer. With it’s super liquid and watery texture, it gets absorbs very quickly especially if you pat it gently on skin after cleansing. I have been only using it for a week so I am unable to comment much on the whitening effects since a longer time is generally required to see any whitening effects. Aside from that, it is a good moisturizer for oily skin peeps like me! Nothing too heavy and clogging on my acne-prone skin. For normal to combination skin, it’s important to apply your daily moisturizer after this for sufficient hydration.

Skin Aqua is ultra light with its Japanese watery liquid texture. The lotion is comfy and absorbs quickly without giving a white cast. It is non-greasy with a matt powdery finish for the perfect make-up primer. Non-sticky no matter how many times you re-apply.

As a make-up Primer: I have personally worn it under my Estee Lauder Double Wear Light and I wouldn’t put it as matte finish but rather a slight dewy finish. Non-sticky: Definitely true even though I haven’t tried re-applying it since I always wear it as a make-up base.

It’s a whitish light liquid, fragrance-free and nothing too heavy. Pat it on lightly and give it a minute or so to set in before applying your foundation/bb cream. For casual days, I wear it alone by dusting some loose powder over and I’m good to go.

Being on the affordable side, I would say it’s a good make-up base even if you don’t go under the sun too often. UV protection is a must ladies! If you haven’t started, it’s the time now!

September’s 2012 Fall in Love

What are the surprises this month!

I can’t decide which month’s trove I like the most since there is something I’m excited about in every trove! Received the September trove yesterday and just tried Princess Pinki this morning. It was er… very pink. I kind of over-applied. Less is more and you will have naturally pinkish beautiful lips. Too much will make your lips look… NEON. Otherwise, I really like it!

I’m glad I got a brown nail colour instead of some funky bright ones because they are the easiest to match with everything! I can dressed up in pastels and still no colours diasters. Gonna try that on my toes tomorrow.

According to the media, there are approximately about 10,000 people in attendance – stadium was jam-packed to the max.

How should I put it… IT WAS SUPER MAD AWESOME! Now I know why some people will spend hundreds for concert tickets. The view we have got is rather good too! Although it was on the sides, there was nothing blocking as well – perfect view! Leehom’s live singing was top notch too. Has he chosen the red outfits because he’s performing in… Singapore? Maybe not.

A summary: Stunning visual effects and good display of his talents in the instrumental department – piano, violin, erhu¹ and the electric guitar. His dancing was alright, it’s the musical talents that counts right?

It amuses me how he has the same team of professional dancers for every songs. Not that I’m complaining because they are really good. But it’s the “transformation” of outfits from the same female dancers that had me in hysterics. Super hot dance and at one point, even the dancer herself was shy from close contact with Leehom. Lack of practice? Ok, I get it. He’s too hot to resist. Point noted.

Have I mentioned how much I love the entire concept of the concert? Especially the “shadow-fighting” scene. It was extremely well coordinated and had everyone in awe.

One of the few super up-close shot I managed to get of him. One word – Suave!

Sadly, my S95 doesn’t have a very powerful optical zoom even though low-light shoots are fantastic!

Now this was the funniest part of the entire concert, I’m pretty sure nearly everyone was laughing their heads off. I could hear the echos of the laughter. So what exactly happened? Leehom had a Primary School choir joined him for a song and the adorable little girl in the photo was the “lead female”. Throughout the entire song, Leehom was trying to get her to look at him and she literally ignored him. Now that’s courage. Everyone was so amused at how Leehom was trying to get her attention and for her to look at him. Then again, she’s just a child and really cute, too shy to look at the handsome brother beside her – perfectly normal. It was just… very amusing to see Leehom at a lost. He can have every girl swooping over him, just not this one.

One of the highlights of the night was the attendance of Zhang Ziyi. She’s absolutely gorgeous in real life. Saw her snapping Leehom on her phone and when the camera focused on her, she looked embarrassed that she was caught taking pictures like a fan.

And it ended with a bang! The flow of the songs are very well planned and I’m so glad I got the chance to hear his live singing, he’s a really wonderful singer! *fangirling mode on maximum*

On a last note, how can he still look so young when he’s already 36?!?

Honestly, balms are supposed to be in a stick. Hygiene is an issue for me and I never ever use balms in a pot. I can’t bear sticking my fingers into a gooey pot. It leaves skin slightly glossy and moisturised – presumably from the Shea Butter and Almond Oil in the formula.

If you are a fan of lip glosses, you will be glad to know there’s also a lip gel in this series – works just as well but with the extra shine. It is a clear gel and contains slight shimmer which makes your lips really glossy but without the sticky after-feel. As the name implies, it smells faintly of a combination of honey and lemon – very pleasant.

I would prefer to apply a layer of the lip balm first and then followed by my lip stick. Layered on the gel for a softer shinier look. If you refer to go natural, the lip gel will do.

Priced affordably at S$7.90 each, if you need help deciding which to get first, I would say go for the lip gel. It’s clearly my favourite!

Super late lunch cum dinner at Delicious (Mid Valley)

Our group photo taken by the blur-ish waiter. I looked damn shagged, yes, the bus ride was horrible. I was doing my best not to break my neck.

We headed straight for the stores right after our late lunch, wasting no time since we will only be there for a day! I didn’t take many pictures because I was too engrossed with what’s on sale. But these interesting mailboxes on a wall of Sungei Wang Plaza caught my eye.

Are there anyone who seriously doesn’t love sushi? They are the best!

Day 2 – Breakfast at The Coffee Bean

Honestly, I haven’t had breakfast at The Coffee Bean before, not even in Singapore. Well, I don’t wake up earlier on non-working days for breakfast. Not to mention, there aren’t any near my place. The thing about living in Singapore, cafes like these can only be found in shopping malls and the city central area. It’s not as if you can find them downstairs or across the streets like in Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Damn!

Exploring China Town

This might be a place I will skip the next time I’m at Kuala Lumpur. There’s basically nothing much unless you plan to get fake branded goods there but it’s still nice walking around and just… observing. What I found out: Flowers are so much cheaper in Malaysia! Are Singapore’s flowers made from gold? Or they do they have anti-wilting system?!?

Ice Cream Break at The Warehouse

Weather was unkind and we decided to find our way to The Warehouse cafe & bar for a good dose of The Last Polka’s ice cream to cool off. This place is gorgeous! I love love love the art pieces, it just feel so peaceful and relaxing there.

Did I mention it was my first time taking the monorail in Malaysia? They have this little plastic coin chips for Single Trips which works the same way as our cards. They remind me so much of mahjong chips!

And there, 24 hours later, we headed home and perhaps for the first time, I actually manage to stargaze on the bus. It was so beautiful, I can’t describe in words but it’s a memory I will never forget.

Life’s beautiful, as long as you want it to be.
