Journey to “The Coastal Settlement”

The weather was kind yesterday and we finally got to visit the nature-themed cafe – The Coastal Settlement right beside Changi Beach¹. Thanks to Brenda super-awesome geography skills, we have no issues arriving at our location.

Located in the middle of no-where (okay, I’m exaggerating. It’s not the world’s most accessible place but at least 1 bus still runs right to it’s doorstep), it’s a relatively quiet and cozy place to chill. Price is similar to P.S.Cafe but the food is heaps better!

Warning: Do not drool.

Is there even a day where I hang out with Bren and we are NOT camwhoring? No. Period.

We spend much of the day ranting about… the not-so-enjoyable week whereby everything just seems to go wrong. It’s the only day in the past week which I can relax, rant and … just be myself.

Anyway, something new I learn from our trip: according to Bren, AB blood type is a natural repellent of mozzies. Yes, she repelled all the mozzies to me, THE O blood. Sweet and juicy – totally irresistible to mozzies! This sounds like an advert, anyway, the short 15 minutes photographing session “earned” me 4 huge bites. But it’s not going to deter me from going back again. Would definitely be going there again to chill, chit-chat and just enjoy the company of awesome people.

It is extremely far for me since I live on the opposite side of the island.

Check out the super gorgeous bottle! The holographic finish in shades of purple, grey and gold is just too beautiful. Mum got this for me on the flight back to Singapore yesterday¹. The scent is oh-so-sweet! I’m rarely into perfumes but this is simply too irresistible.

I think it is only sold in Changi Airport or on flights, currently not available in stores yet.

My first Vanity Trove!

I subscribed to Vanity Trove earlier this month after doing a bit of “research” around. It seems to be one of the best ones in Singapore and I’m glad to say I wasn’t disappointed at all!

Although I have to admit I was extremely surprised to receive my trove on a Sunday. I wasn’t at home to receive since I was at Kim’s; well, in fact, no one was. I told the delivery guy to simply leave it at my door hoping that nobody would take it. Luckily, it was still sitting there by the time I arrive home at 4!

I’m absolutely in love with this month’s Trove! So many new stuff I’m dying to try, been wanting to try Clinique since forever as Sissy has been raving about it in the past.

You simply cannot ignore how great the packaging is. Factory sealed and everything was nicely laid out in the box. Nothing was messed up during the delivery. Honestly, I am impressed!

I finally got the time and energy to work on this post. Was down with a bad flu since Monday and I’m still battling it. Singapore’s weather is absolutely horrible; one minute the sun is there, it’s pouring the next.

Anyway, was out “celebrating” the 24th birthday of my dearest brother, James! Please do not remind me mine’s coming up really soon. As usual, we walked miles and miles in inappropriate attires. It baffled me why we always walk so much every single time we are out.

Lunch was settled at Barracks Cafe and the commendable dishes are their mushroom risotto and warm Strawberry Shortcakes. Simply the best!

Their Tau Sar Bao¹ is dub to be the best in town at S$2.50 each. The normal coffee shop version is only about a dollar. Not bad but for the price, perhaps there would be some other better desserts around.

Strictly Pancakes for the breakfast lovers

Bren brought me to try Strictly Pancakes yesterday and it’s the best in town I’ve tried so far. Love the combination of melting butter and maple syrup. They have quirky combination like pancakes with garlic prawns and even beef!

Planning to go again to try their “dessert pancakes” – butterscotch and chocolate, anyone?

A very expensive tea at PS.Cafe

Bren and I pop by PS.Cafe on Good Friday for a much needed chilling session. Needless to say, there is lots of catching up and gossiping to do!

Located at Palais, a secluded corner of Orchard, it is a nice and tranquil place to just sit down, have tea and enjoy the company with our besties. I especially love the high ceilings and it is filled with quite a bit of flora and fauna which gives the place a very good ambiance.

The must-try is definitely the Truffle Fries at S$15. We ordered the special Easter version with Chocolate sauce. Oh yummy!

Tea and coffee are reasonable too. With the exception of their cakes, at about S$14 a slice, it’s on the pricey side. Bren and I pretty much came to a conclusion that the Lemon Gingerly Cheesecake is not our cup of tea, or rather, our slice of cake. The total bill chalks up to about S$78 which is the most expensive all-day breakfast we ever had!

As with all the Atas¹ cafes, need a cab, here’s a card to help. Well, of course as locals, we took the public transport home.

We were actually all dress up & ready to hit mother nature but the weather was not kind. As usual, we never end the day without a good dose of camwhoring. Love our outfits!

Up next Saturday, we will be visiting The Coastal Settlement located right beside Changi Beach. Oh, the sun, sea and tea is screaming at us!

A girl can never have too many accessories and I’m constantly at a lookout for unique pieces to match with different styles of outfits – casuals, formal, classy – for both work and play! The Dancing Jewels is one of my latest discovery – a handmade online jewellery store by Hueys, a lovely girl who shares my love for accessories.

I get mostly customised pieces from her because well, I like one-of-a-kind designs. Being the lazy me, I will just give her a general idea of what I’m looking at or which charms I prefer and ta-da, she will perform her magic.

I honestly doesn’t really have a favourite piece since I love all of them. Can’t remember since when I have started to appreciate the green colour. It’s just so calming and peaceful to look at, am I talking sense? I’m not a fan of animals too, dove is okay but besides that, I very much prefer florals which is not surprising right?

For the quality, they are pretty affordable, pieces from her collection starts at S$15 and prices for her customised pieces are from S$25 and above. The best part is international shipping is a flat rate of S$4 worldwide. So there really are affordable gems out there, we just have got to find the right one! You can stalk her on Facebook too. Not her, I really meant her collections.

That aside, Etsy is also a good place to look at for quality customised pieces – it’s a like a hub for handmade goods. I am actually also eyeing of the leather rose bib necklace.
