On Saturday 8th June, in what was that morning, my rather grey and gloomy hometown of Llangollen, James and I tied the knot in St Collen's Church - ceremony lead by the fabulous Reverend Phil.

The week preceding had been one filled with angst over the weather and what effect the forecast of torrential downpours would have on our big day (due primarily to the fact that we had chosen to host the reception in one of the Canvas Tent Co.'s incredible tent pole marquees - something that ordinarily in June would not have posed a problem).

Luckily however, we decided a couple of days prior to hire an industrial heater (best decision ever), and despite some rain in the afternoon, we managed to keep everyone toasty with the day turning out to be epic. I'd go so far as to say the best ever - the sun even came out for us in the end!

By having the marquee in our own family field offset by the backdrop of the hills of North Wales, this really did enable us to create something special - a one off that no one else could mirror, with these personal touches helping to produce the relaxed, boho vibe that we had both envisaged. It was exactly as we had both imagined and wanted it to be - a day surrounded by our nearest and dearest, where you could feel the love generated by each and every person throughout.

In future, I plan to write a mini series on here about the day and the build up, both in order to share some tips with any future budding brides and to provide more information on our wonderful suppliers - all of them having gone above and beyond to ensure we experienced the perfect day. For now though, I just wanted to bring you all some of the incredible photographs that the ridiculously talented Tash - Love Luella Photography, has been kind enough to share with us as a little sneak preview of what is to come. Tash has also written a post about the day on her own site here, if you would like to take a look.

A NEW DISCOVERY - LIXIRSKIN

For a while now, I have been creature of habit when it comes to skincare, especially cleansers - alternating between my trusty Glossier Milky Jelly and Oskia Renaissance. Whilst away on a trip recently however, I managed to leave the latter in my hotel room never to be seen again, and decided at that point that it might be a good time for a change - step forward Lixirskin's Electrogel Cleanser.

The brand had been on my radar for a while and when I saw that ASOS had started to stock it, I decided to take advantage of my premier delivery and added it to my basket. It describes itself as providing 'a mix of universal essentials for everyday skin needs and targeted night care for skin concerns' having 'an advanced yet relaxed approach to good skin.'

There is a focus not on natural products, but on the use of pure molecules with published clinical results - something that founder Dr Collette Haydon knows all about, having produced some of the most coveted beauty products for cult beauty brands. Lixirskin though, is her own baby.

Comprising three key products - 'The Universal Trio' (Electrogel Cleanser, Vitamin C Paste and Universal Emulsion) alongside which appear the 'Night Switch Molecules' (to be used in conjunction), the collection is compact but aims to pack a punch and cover all bases.

The concept of the cleanser itself in this case, revolves around the theory that what is bad for the skin (toxins such as polution nanoparticles, heavy metals and free radicals but to name a few) generally tends to have a slight positive electric charge. By adding a very small negatively charged electrogel into the formula the theory is therefore, that the two will attract and can then simply be washed away.

On first impressions, I must admit that my skin did feel incredibly clean and soft after use and so the detoxifying claims were definitely something that I felt stood up. The other thing that I really enjoyed in addition, was the scent - something that if I hadn't read about the ingredients beforehand, I would have assumed to be entirely natural. Unsurprisingly, the addition of geranium, sage, rosemary and chamomile helps to create this impression - the former being one of my all time favourites.

Though the texture of the cleanser is of a creamy consistency, I found it to be incredibly good when it came to make up removal including any pesky mascara residue. In fact I would go so far as to say that it was more effective than any gel/oil cleanser I have used previously and irritated my eyes far less - bonus!

I will be continuing to use over the coming weeks so that I can report back on the longer term effects. For now though, I am already suitably impressed and will definitely be looking into trying more from the brand.

After a long hiatus from posting on here, I thought I would kick start things again with a trusty wishlist. It's my birthday next weekend, and so I've a few things in mind that I might treat myself to in celebration of turning another year older - you've got to spoil yourself sometimes, right?

I've liked the idea of the whole 'scarf wrapped round the bag handle' trend for a while now, and the Dior monogrammed scarves are just too beautiful to resist. I also feel like the grey and blush tones in this one would be perfect for spring.

Sticking with the pastels - I'm a fan of anything and everything Monica Vinader, and this mint coloured bracelet is super cute. I've quite a few pieces from the brand now, and really like the fact that they offer free engraving, hence I'd quite like to take advantage again and get something 'personalised'.

Make up wise, I've spent the last few months trying to use up/whittle down what is in my substantial stash, and so it's been a while since I've tried anything new in terms of base. There has been so much hype around this new offering from Clinique though, that I am dying to give it a try. The fact that is claims to be both a foundation and concealer in one is the obvious draw, though I'm most intrigued by the giant applicator! It looks so convenient!

One of my favourite things that I got in the Liberty advent calendar I had this year, was a Byredo hand cream in the scent Bal D'Afrique. I had never tried anything from the brand before, and so I was very pleasantly surprised. I had been tempted to invest in one of their scents, however, my perfume collection is overflowing at the moment and so I thought I might check out one of their candles instead. I've heard quite a lot about Tree House, and the top notes of bamboo and pimento sound right up my street.

And of course, no February birthday could be complete without a jumper to cosy up in. I love the block colours of this ASOS offering!

THE DUPE: GIORGIO ARMANI LIP MAESTRO V MAYBELLINE VIVID MATTE LIQUID LIPSTICK

Apart from the infamous Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, I must admit, I am a bit of a novice when it comes to the brand. When I was browsing the counter one day a few months back though – focussing, unsurprisingly, on the liquid lipsticks they had on offer – the shade 500 Blush in their Lip Maestro’s caught my eye and I picked it up on a bit of a whim.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s not often that you'll go wrong with a liquid lipstick. Some are better than others, but in general they have good staying power and unless they are ultra drying they normally turn out to be worth your hard earned pennies. ‘Blush’ is, as you might expect – a warm, rosy pink – vivid enough to brighten your complexion a little, but nothing too in your face. There are 23 shades available in the range, with most of them quite bold - reds, purples and a few brighter pink shades the prevalent colours amid the bunch. There are only three that I would consider to be real neutrals - Blush being one of them, Casual Pink another, and lastly Dolci (which if you’re into you’re 90’s brown hues might be the one to try). And so, although I think the shade range could be expanded upon to cater to a wider clientele, this didn't put me off as the thing that really made me fall in love with these was their formula.

Yes its matte, or at least the appearance is on the lips – but it is actually incredibly creamy and feels beautiful to apply. They are marketed as being 'the first matte lip lacquers' and are by far and away the least drying ‘mattes’ I have tried. They may not last as long as the likes of the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks, but they do still stick around for a fair few hours and fade nicely when they do eventually start to wear away. They are not dissimilar to the theBalm Meet Matte Hughes Liquid Lipsticks that I talked about a couple of posts back, but much creamier and with less of a scent. If you’re into your high end make up then I would definitely recommend checking these out as I’m quite surprised at how they haven’t yet (at least not to my knowledge) gained more of a cult status within the beauty world.

If you’re after a high street/drugstore counterpart though, look no further than the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks. I had seen these pop up on the shelves some time ago – in fact it must have been pretty soon after they were released. I had cast my eye over them a couple of times, yet for some reason I didn’t pick any up until quite some time later (I think perhaps because I had been unable to swatch in store and it’s always a bit of a gamble when that’s the case). I bit the bullet last week though when I had a little Boots splurge (let me know if you’d like to see the rest of the spoils from that little excursion) and the shades ‘Nude Thrill’ and ‘Nude Flush’ ended up coming home with me. Again, I was predictable with the colour choices – the former being on the beige-y nude side and the latter it's pink equivalent – not at all unlike the Giorgio Armani 500 shade. But that is not where the similarity ends.

I can honestly say that shades aside (despite the similarity of six of the eight Maybelline shades still sitting firmly on the bold side of things with not a lot in between), the formula of these seems to me to be practically identical to the Giorgio Armani Lip Maestros. They are creamy, super pigmented and give you that soft matte finish without any resultant dryness. As with the Lip Maestros, the applicator itself is a little longer than your standard doe foot and has a little bend to it which I find is great when it comes to ensuring ease and accuracy when applying. As a direct comparison re what it is you are getting for your money, the Lip Maestros weigh in at £27 for the 6.5ml of product provided, where as for £6.99 you are getting 8ml from the Maybelline Vivid Mattes.

I really love both products, but unless you have plenty of cash to spare and are a high end make up fiend, then I would definitely recommend Maybelline over Giorgio Armaniin this instance. If the shade range had been more extensive on either side then that may have pipped it for me, but as things stand it’s a win for the drugstore dupe in the battle of the liquid lipsticks!

MAKE UP FOREVER: MINI HAUL/REVIEW

When I strolled into my local Debenhams a few months back to see that my beloved Burberry counter had been replaced by Make Up Forever; I have to say I was a little disappointed. Though I’d heard a lot of good things about the brand, I had never really felt particularly drawn towards any of their products. However, after seeing a few of my favourite ladies online testing them out, I found myself in there browsing one lunch time, and before I knew it, had picked up these three.

One of the things I was most impressed with in there was the customer service. The lady that served me was lovely and did a great job of matching me for both the foundation and the concealer. More often than not, I get told I am a much darker shade than I actually am thanks to my ruddy cheeks! But this time she got it spot on and I had no hesitation investing and knowing I had walked out of there with the correct shades. Since then, and I must admit, somewhat to my surprise, I have found myself reaching for all of these products on an almost daily basis with them becoming a permanent fixture in my make up bag. And so, I thought I would share my thoughts on them today.

Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation

Don’t let the name fool you with this one. It has decent coverage but isn’t nearly as thick or as full as I’d have imagined from the impression the name gives. I find it gives a very 'lit from within' look as opposed to the matte finish you might expect. The consistency is very smooth and quite thin in that it moves around easily when you pump it out on the back of your hand. It is also easy to apply with your fingers (in fact, this is my favourite way to apply it), and doesn’t leave your skin feeling suffocated like some foundations with a little more coverage can have a tendency to do. I wear the shade R210, and as I’ve said previously, it is a great match for me – probably the best of all the foundations I own and that’s no small feat. As with most Make Up Forever products as well, the colour range available is quite vast and so I should imagine there would be something there to suit most skin tones. I can’t claim that this is of holy grail status yet, but it has certainly been my go to recently and has (for now) replaced my NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint that I had been wearing non-stop previously.

Ultra HD Invisible Cover Concealer

At the time of purchase, I had managed to misplace my trusty Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer, and so I thought I would pick this up as I had seen it used both as a blemish cover up and under eye brightener and it seemed from what I could tell to be a good all-rounder. As per, I told the lady on the counter that I like to go a shade lighter with my concealer and she obliged matching me with the shade R20. Again, I have been using it on a daily basis – perhaps even more so than I had originally anticipated due to the fact that the foundation didn’t cover as much as I was expecting it to. Despite being of a relatively thick consistency though, is it still very creamy and I don’t find that it cakes. Neither does it crease under the eyes for me (though I do tend to always set my under eye concealer so maybe that has something to do with it). A little goes a long way with this and though I don’t find it quite as good for pinpoint concealing when compared with my Estee Lauder Double Wear, it still does a pretty decent job and definitely leaves a more natural finish when it comes to the general concealing of redness and slightly patchy skin that I tend to suffer with. I think if I was having a particularly good skin day and feeling the no make up make up look – some careful application of this minus any base, and a light dusting of one of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, would easily suffice. Definitely one to check out if you’re after a ‘does it all’ product that will serve as a useful make up bag staple throughout the day.

Smoky Lash Mascara

As this seems to be one of the most hyped products by the brand, I felt I had to give it a go. I’ve been really into trying out different mascaras lately, and have found a couple that I have really fallen in love with – namely the Dior Iconic Waterproof Overcurl and the Lancôme Hypnose Volume-a-porter which I have spoken about previously here. If I’m honest though, I don’t think this one quite compares. I have still been using it on a daily basis and it does a decent job of achieving a nice balance between voluminous and lengthened lashes – separating them just enough to avoid the clumpy look (something I am not necessarily against – but would prefer to avoid during the day). I can’t comment on its being able to hold a curl as, as I have mentioned in previous posts – my lashes have a natural curl to them anyway and I have never had any issues. I can however, say that it doesn’t transfer and is relatively easy to remove which is always a plus. I am keen now to try out the brown shade as I have heard good things and am yet to try any mascara that isn’t black during my long term make up love affair.

What are your best picks when it comes to Make Up Forever? I’d really love some more recommendations as from what I have tried so far they've really surpassed my expectations!

3 STEP SUMMER SKIN PREP

When it comes to summer skincare I like to keep things as light and simple as possible - especially in the mornings! Something I don't like to skimp on though, is making sure my skin is prepped and ready to face the day.

For me, this means being hydrated and protected, and lately I have been absolutely loving these three products used after a quick cleanse in the morning and underneath make up to ensure smooth application and preservation all day long.

The Body Shop - Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence

I think we can all agree, that when it comes to sun protection (especially for the face), what we are after is something that sinks in quickly, is non-greasy and isn't overly fragranced. It may sound like a simple ask, but no matter what I've tried in the past, it has either managed to break me out, or has, despite initial high hopes eventually left me looking like a caked, shiny oil slick. This stuff though is truly magical.

It sinks in like no other SPF I have ever tried - the texture is more liquid like as opposed to cream and it applies like a serum. There is a very slight scent to it (though this isn't noticeable once it is on the skin), it is moisturising, and yet when you go to apply your base on top, it is completely undetectable! It doesn't make me oily throughout the day (any more than usual anyway), in fact I think it may even help to keep me mattified - is there anything more you could ask for?

Crucially, it contains UVA (PA ++++) and UVB (SPF 50) protection, which means not only will you be protected from short term damage but from longer term damage more likely to accelerate the process of your skin ageing as well. I have been using this every day without fail over the last month or so and am already thinking about picking up another tube as I am starting to run low. It is without doubt, one of my favourite discoveries of the year so far and has already earned a permanent place in my hall of fame.

Origins -Eye Doctor

Recently I had an unfortunate accident with my beloved Aesop Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Eye Serum which involved a broken bottle and some severe spillage. Luckily, I had this little guy lying around as a back up, and so instead of repurchasing I thought I would give it a go (in truth, not really expecting to love it as much). I've been very pleasantly surprised though, in that it has given me exactly what I look for in an eye cream - no bold claims promising to banish lines and prevent me ever ageing, just a good bout of hydration that sinks in quickly and leaves the area around my eyes feeling soothed and refreshed.

It contains beautiful ingredients that help it achieve this, including cooling cucumber, soothing rosemary and energising ginseng, along with green tea extract. And, the pies de resistance - it works wonderfully under make up.

Clarins - Daily Energiser Lovely Lip Balm

I've lost count of the number of lip balms I own. I certainly have a few faves, but I seem to be constantly switching them up without being loyal to anything in particular. I will normally use a balm as and when I deem it necessary but when it comes to this one, I've only had it a couple of weeks yet I've found myself reaching for it multiple times daily and have already made quite a large indentation! It's not a thick balm, but it is very hydrating and is perfect for day to day use.

I like to pop a little bit on in the morning, allowing it to sink in whilst doing the rest of my make up before applying my lip colour of choice (sometimes I'll just wear it on it's own). It has the most divine peachy scent, gives your lips a natural pink tint by reacting with their pH and also adds a little shine to help plump and smooth. Even better, as it is in stick form, no fingers are required, and so it is the perfect product to sling in your handbag (especially with the super pretty packaging) and you can slather it on throughout the day whenever you wish to without any fuss.

THEBALM: BEST BUYS

The Balm is one of those brands that I have heard whisperings about for a while, but have never really felt myself drawn towards. I think this might have something to do with the quirky packaging that, although fun, doesn’t have me feeling enamoured the way some high/medium end equivalents do. It was really only when a counter popped up in my local Debenhams a month or so ago that I became intrigued, and since then my love for the brand has done nothing but grow. I’ve got my hands on a couple of their ‘cult classics’ and have also made a few new discoveries along the way, and so I thought it I would share these with you today so that if you’re umming and ahhing like I was about whether or not to give them a try, you will at least know where it might be best to start.

The Balm Mary-Loumainzer

Starting off with what is likely the most famous product in the range – this beautiful honey-gold highlight really packs a punch and will suit almost any skin tone. The formula is buttery and buildable so that if you are a fan of taking the ‘lit from within’ look to the extreme then this is entirely possible. At the same time though, the product is blendable and very finely milled (no glitter chunks here) and so if it’s just a subtle shimmer that you’re after, this is easily achievable too. I have a lot of love (like most people right now) for the Becca highlighters, however, this definitely rivals the ones that I have tried, and in comparison to some of the peachier shades, gives a much more ‘natural’ finish. If it’s an everyday option that you’re after, this might well be it.

The Balm Frat BoyBlush

Speaking of every day – this is one of those shades that can be worn without needing to think too much about whether it will clash or compliment the rest of your make up look. It is non-offensive yet incredibly pretty at the same time with its peachy-pink hues, which I find particularly suit my paler skin tone. The fact that it is matte makes a nice change and means it has become a firm favourite for me when it comes to office make-up wear. Not to mention the fact that the cardboard packaging makes it light and slim to transport around if I feel in need of a top up throughout the day.

The Balm Schwing Eyeliner

Now that I can claim to have mastered the art of the liquid eyeliner, I find weeding out the wheat from the chaff a much easier task than I had done previously. The biggest plus to this is that the finish it gives is super matte – a big tick in my book. The sponge nip is also relatively flexible and not too firm so as to inhibit your ability to create the perfect feline flick, plus I never get any transfer onto my slightly hooded lids. I’m intrigued to try the new Lancôme Grandiose liquid eyeliner as a comparison (the one with the twisty handle that seems incredibly gimmicky!), but for now this is sitting at the top of my list.

The Balm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Liquid Lipsticks

In general, I don’t really find that you can go too wrong with a matte liquid lip. So long as pigmentation is good and application even, you know what you’re getting. The Meet Matte Hughes Liquid Lipsticks tick both of these boxes and at the same time, last well and aren’t at all drying on the lips. Of course, as with any matte lip product, they aren’t moisturising either, but there is certainly no danger of flaking or caking whilst you’re wearing these. The shade range is limited but lovely comprising plenty of peachy nudes and rosy mauves (my favourites), along with a couple of darker shades. I can’t comment on the application of the latter, as I picked up the colours ‘Honest’ and ‘Committed’ – the former a slightly brighter corally-peach and the latter a more muted pinky version. I love how when applied they have a light minty scent that lingers on your lips and this combined with their overall impressive performance undoubtedly means I will be picking up some more shades in the weeks to come.

JO MALONE LONDON: PEONY & MOSS CHARITY CANDLE

If you haven't already heard about Jo Malone's 'Community Gardens' initiative then I would like to take a minute to talk about it, as it is something that helps benefit a cause very close to my heart.

Essentially, there are a number of gardens across the UK now, all of which are funded by Jo Malone - the most local to me being The Kirkdale Country Community Garden, Liverpool - where people who are suffering from mental health issues or who are on the road to recovery can go to hone their horticultural skills, relax and help pave the way as part of the process of rehabilitation. The gardens are filled with therapeutic scents and are intended to provide serene safe havens for the people that spend their time in them.

I know myself that when I am having a particularly anxious spell, that spending time outdoors does me the world of good and so I think this is a fantastic way to encourage people to reconnect with themselves as well as providing a beautiful place that will help benefit the wider community. The scheme even provides volunteers with the opportunity of being able to complete new qualifications that, if their passion for gardening has really been ignited, could mean their being able to gain full time employment in the field.

75% of the RRP from sales of the Peony & Moss Charity Candle will go towards funding the ongoing work that Jo Malone London is doing to ensure people suffering from mental health issues get the support they need in working towards a full recovery. All of the gardens will benefit, but in particular, their newest project - a charity garden with St Mungo's set in London.

The candle itself has a beautiful delicate floral scent with hints (as I'm sure you can imagine), of their much loved 'Peony and Blush Suede' fragrance. However, with the addition of the moss, the sweet edge of the fragrance is replaced with an altogether earthier tone. Personally, I think it's the perfect all-year-round home fragrance as it's fresh, natural and as you can see - comes in the most beautiful packaging imaginable. And, if you're a Jo Malone regular you will already know that the scent pay off and the burning time of their candles is near unbeatable.

It's not often that a new release really catches my eye, but when I heard that Urban Decay were ditching their entire lipstick range in exchange for a souped up new collection of 100 shades (still containing some old favourites but with 74 new additions, an improved formula and a choice of six finishes to boot) I couldn't wait to get my mitts on them to try. Released online on June 9th, I wanted to wait until I could see them in the flesh before deciding which I needed to add to my already overflowing make-up wardrobe. And so, on Thursday I popped to the in-store launch after work and spent a good half hour sifting through and deciding which were my favourites whilst simultaneously sipping on a glass of champers - perfect!

Eventually, I decided on these four - Liar, Rush, Violate - all with a cream finish - and Hitch Hike - a comfort matte. It was these two finishes within the range that I was immediately drawn to as I like my lipsticks pigmented yet comfortable on the lips. There are also the mega matte, metallized, sheer and sheer shimmer finishes available - so if it's variety you're after then this lot are a pretty safe bet.

Starting with what for me, is the most daring pick of the four - Violate is a dusty purple with a pink undertone, but, unlike a lot of similar shades, doesn't wash you out at all. I'm thinking of going blonder soon and so the thought behind this one was that it would fab with platinum locks and a tonne of smudged out black liner. More of a 'standard' shade (for me at least) is Liar - bordering on a peach but leaning ever so slightly towards the pinky-nude bracket. It's one of those every day colours that would look even better with a tan and a base with a bit of golden glow. And then there's Rush - a pinky-mauve which again would suit most skin tones and is one of those effortless shades that requires minimal maintenance.

I love how nourishing the cream formula of these is along with how it sits so nicely on the lips - yet despite this, it lasts well. I gave it it's first test run on Friday morning for work and it stuck around for a good 3-4 hours before I felt the need to top up. Plus, the fact that it applies so evenly means that it fades tidily without any obvious patches.

Much of the same can be said about Hitch Hike - a stunning brick rose - this time in the comfort matte formula. It reminds me a lot of MAC's Brick-o-la, yet I prefer it thanks to the finish which makes it longer-lasting without drying out your lips and accentuating any patches that aren' quite as smooth as they might be.

Though I am yet to thoroughly road test the shades I have picked up, so far I am a big fan of them and can definitely see myself going back and picking up more - perhaps even trying out some of the other finishes and more adventurous shades. One thing I would advise before going into store though, would be to download the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick app (available on all Apple devices), that allows you try the shades on before you buy! It can be a little overwhelming when all one hundred lipsticks are sat in front of you at once, and so I think this is a great idea to help you decide what you're after beforehand.

Currently retailing at what I would consider to be a very reasonable £15, in my opinion you're really getting a bargain as on first impression I would without doubt compare them to some much pricier high end counterparts.

TOM FORD @ JOHN LEWIS

Fellow beauty addicts far and wide will already know that if it’s high end you’re after – not to mention luxe packaging and some seriously swoon-worthy products, then Tom Ford is where it’s at. Their new range has recently landed at John Lewis, and so of course, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world when I was asked if I would like to try out a couple of the latest additions to the collection.

If you’re a regular visitor around these parts, you will know that I have a tendency to spend my lunch hours lingering around the counter in store – constantly swatching and sniffing what’s on offer, and am a particularly big fan of the beautiful lipsticks and nail lacquers in the range (Ruby Rush and Scarlet Chinois are, without doubt, my favourite classic red pairing).

This time though I opted to try out some of their eye make up – the much talked about Eye Defining Pen in ‘Deeper’* and one of the incredibly beautiful Eye Colour Quads in ‘Nude Dip’*.

If eyeliner is normally your nemesis, then the former is definitely for you as it makes application such a breeze and sticks around so well that it means the usual worries of having to faff around to ensure an even wing and to avoid transfer are made a thing of the past. This stuff wont budge and is so pigmented – it really is the blackest black. In addition, the fact that your are provided with two liners – one slight shorter and stumpier, the other longer and finer – means that no matter what your eye shape it is easy to achieve the perfect line and create definition by getting right into the lash line/any spots you might otherwise miss. I also really love how gloriously weighty it feels, which, for me, makes it easier to manoeuvre than the vast majority of liners out there. If you’re a big fan of a feline flick then I’d say it’s worth investing in this as despite the hefty price tag, it won’t be easily beaten.

The Eye Colour Quad itself is, as you would expect – fantastic quality again, with a buttery, super blendable collection of shades ranging from a golden champagne to a deep brown - each with a slight satin finish. Though very pretty, there isn’t anything particularly unique about each shade on its own, but as a collection they work beautifully and the convenience of being able to cart them around in such a stunning little one stop compact makes it worth the price tag for me. There is an incredibly beautiful range of shades within the Quads available. Two of my favourites are Seductive Rose – a mix of lighter pinks, mauves along with a deep sumptuous plum, and Honeymoon – a set of warm toned neutrals including a couple of striking coppery shades and a rich, frosted cranberry.

I feel like sometimes the Tom Ford make up line can be overlooked in favour of their fragrances, which, are without doubt some of the most spectacular on the market. If you really want to treat yourself though and you have the budget, then I would highly recommend checking out the fabulous range of products on offer. There isn’t one that I have tried that I haven’t been thoroughly impressed with so far, and that I haven’t felt like a princess whilst wearing/applying it. Next on my list is the Shade and Illuminate compact – this might be the start of a slight obsession!

MAY BEAUTY FAVOURITES

I’m a little late jumping on the bandwagon with this (or rather last) months most loved products this time around. I thought I would throw my two cents worth in though and run through quickly, what I’ve been enjoying and reaching for on a regular basis throughout May. As the weather has been pretty glorious of late, I’ve generally been going for skin and bodycare products over anything else so as to keep me feeling refreshed, and have been keeping make up natural and to a minimum, as this little selection tends to reflect.

Antipodes Grace Gentle Cream Cleanser

Cream cleansers are one of my favourite products when it comes to wanting my skin to feel plump and nourished. I’d had my eye on this one for a while but had wanted to use up my Una Brennan Superfacialist Rose Hydrate Cleanser before splashing out (another lovely product, especially if you are on a budget). After eventually deciding to invest though, I am so glad I did. The formula is so soothing – packed with nutrient rich ingredients like avocado oil and marigold flower, and contains vinanza oxifend which helps combat any inflammation/redness/irritability. Though the product itself claims to be scent free, personally I find that there is a slight scent to it which is delicate and has a hint of floral. It isn’t at all overpowering though and I actually find it to be one of the main reasons that I enjoy using this cleanser so much – spending ages massaging in it as it feels so nourishing and luxurious. I use it as a second cleanse in the evening and also use a small amount on its own in the morning, leaving my skin feeling clean, calm and super soft. If you suffer with sensitive skin then this is definitely one to try.

Aerin Amber Musk Body Wash

Now I must be honest here – this was a completely accidental purchase! I had been perusing what was on offer at The Cosmetics Company Store - hoping to find a few bargains - and spotted the Amber Musk Body Cream. I already own Aerin’s Evening Rose Body Cream which smells incredible and is beautifully moisturising, and, with one sniff I decided I needed this one too. However, in my excitement I picked up the wrong box and only discovered when I got home, after unwrapping it, that this was the case. Not one to be deterred, I tried the body wash out that evening in my bath as part of a little pamper sesh. It created fabulous bubbles, and filled the whole of upstairs (never mind just the bathroom), with its beautiful scent encompassing a mix of slight floral hints, amber and deep creamy musk. My favourite part though, was how this lingered on my skin even the next day. I love the Aerin fragrances, but if you’re looking to save a few pennies, then picking up the body wash instead might just suffice, as it lasts for just as long on the skin! Considering I only picked this up two weeks ago, I am already nearing the end of the bottle – a rarity for me when it comes to body products. It’s also so much less faff than using a body cream and so I think I get my moneys worth through that fact alone, as so many of my body moisturisers lie unused for weeks thanks to nothing but sheer laziness on my part!

Chanel Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour in ‘Adrienne’

This is actually the first ‘neutral’ Chanel lipstick that I have picked up. For some reason, before this (and very unlike me) – the others all fell into the pink category with one coral – the latter being the only one I have really gotten any wear out of since purchasing. I had nipped into John Lewis to see if I could pick up a couple of the new summer nail polishes the day before they hit the shelves. Having heard a few people mention ‘Adrienne’ as being one of those perfect everyday shades, I went and gave it a swatch whilst the lovely lady on the counter went in the back to search for me. I was expecting it to be similar to one of the many other day to day shades I have in my collection, but I was pleasantly surprised. I love peachy tones, but find them hard to pull off, and they also more often than not, tend to go patchy and cling to my naturally rosy lips. Yet this shade has a very slight hint of brown to it mixed in with a muted peach undertone and does none of the above. It suits my pale skin tone beautifully and would, I should imagine, suit most skin tones. The formula is of course hydrating and feels remarkably comfortable on the lips – containing mimosa, jojoba and sunflower plant butters to nourish and condition. At last, a no fuss Chanel shade that I can rely on to carry me throughout the day!

Smithand Cult Nail Polish in ‘Bitter Buddhist’

Whilst meandering around my local Space NK a few weeks back, I noticed that they had acquired a new Smith and Cult stand (they hadn’t stocked the brand there previously). ‘Bitter Buddhist’ had been on my wishlist for a while but had been sold out online the last time I checked and so I saw this as fate intervening and picked up a bottle. I have a couple of Smith and Cult polishes already, and though the colours (not to mention the packaging) are beautiful, I can’t say that I am a huge fan of either the brush or the formula – though far from terrible, they’re nothing special in my eyes. However, I do find them to last well, and, in this case, it has been the beautiful unique opaque celadon green (or as I like to think of it – mix between a dusky blue and a mint), that has had me hooked. I must say though, after picking up a selection of the latest Essie Gel Couture range last week (see my previous post), I can’t see me straying far away from them for the foreseeable!

Anastasia Brow Definer

My biggest bug bare is my brows and I am always switching the products up that I use to try and achieve the fuller, more natural effect I‘m going for. One of my all time faves though, which I have repurchased a number of times now is the Anastasia Brow Wizz – its fine nib, non waxy formula and great range of shades meaning it caters to all my needs. The new brow definer in the range, caught my eye though as it combines what to me feels like the same formula (though I have heard others comment differently saying it is a little waxier), the same great range of shades (I use medium brown by the way), but also with the flexibility of a nib that allows for defined strokes yet quicker application at the same time. Personally, having quite sparse brows – I find it much easier to obtain a natural shape with this, especially at the front of the brow, thanks to the wider nib that also has a pointed end for more precision. Once this is pressed flat, it does a great job at mimicking brow hairs on its own and also works wonders at lengthening and filling in any barer patches. It appears very similar to one of the products Benefit are set to launch as part of their new overhauled brow range – the Goof Proof Brow Pencil, which, coincidentally, comes alongside a finer nibbed option – the Precisely My Brow Pencil – and so I will have to put these to the test and do a comparison at some point. For now though, I am pretty content with this latest option.

ESSIE GEL COUTURE: TOP PICKS

As soon as I heard about the latest Essie releases to hit the shelves, I couldn't wait to get my hands on them. The Gel Couture polishes come in twenty-five new shades; A mix of darks, brights, pastels/neutrals, nudes and pinks, as well as a new gel top coat to use alongside. They retail at £9.99 a pop, though Superdrug is currently offering buy one get one half price (hence why I ended up picking up five on this occasion!).

Essie is without doubt my favourite nail polish brand on the market, with what is in my opinion - the best range of shades, the most effective formula, and of course having lead the way with those thick 'one stroke' brushes that we all now know and love. I hunted high and low the day this lovely lot were released (June 1st) to find them, and after trying every Boots and Superdrug in Liverpool city centre I eventually tracked them down in the Superdrug on Parker Street (for anyone else having the same issue!).

It might just be the fact that we are within the warmer months now, but I was much more drawn to the lighter pastel and nude shades once I had the chance to inspect them up close, and ended up adding the following four to my collection;

Sew Me

Part of the 'Nudes' collection within the range - Sew Me is a creamy caramel rose with what I would also describe as having a very slight touch of peach to it. I could quite easily have picked up all of the colours in this collection as they were so super flattering (it's rare that I can find a nude that doesn't wash out my pale skin). 'Fairy Tailor' and 'Spool Me Over' are next on my list.

Stitch By Stitch

This is described as being a 'ladylike pink', but after trying it out I would say that it applies and dries less dusky and a little brighter than it appears in the bottle. More of a muted barbie pink, but still a very pretty one and flattering nonetheless as it still isn't too in your face like I find a lot of lighter pink shades to be.

Take Me To Thread

The first of the colours from the 'neutral/pastel' collection that I picked up - this reminds me a lot of Essie's 'Merino Cool' (one of my faves), and is a plush taupe - grey with a lilacy tinge. It's one of those 'go to' shades that you could slap on and wear no matter what the time of year, no matter what the occasion.

Zip Me Up

Definitely the most unique shade amongst the four I chose - a slinky satin mint, that has a very slight iridescent shimmer to it which appears in the bottle but that isn't as detectable once applied (it more or less just adds to the shine). Again, it's particularly flattering against pale skin for such a light shade, and I am super pleased to have finally found a mint green that suits me.

I was pretty sure that I was going to like these polishes having read the reviews, even before I had seen them in the flesh - and I have not been disappointed. Though it is perhaps a little early to comment on their longevity as yet, (I have only been wearing the shade I have on now for four days - so far so good though!) I am completely in love with the formula and am amazed at how even the lightest shades apply beautifully with the signature wide brush and only require one coat for a flawless finish.

They give a hefty amount of shine with a gel finish on their own, but with the addition of the top coat, provide you what I would consider to be a salon quality manicure with minimal effort required.

Essie say that the polishes can last fourteen days - chip free, and so I will report back as to whether this claim turns out to ring true. However, for the beautiful formula (hence easy application) alone, I would highly recommend trying these out for yourself if you get the chance. My only criticism, is that of the forty-two shades being released in the US, we in the UK are only getting twenty-five of them! Fingers crossed this will change soon though, as there are plenty more that I already have my eye on...

THE ESTEE EDIT: A REVIEW

If you aren't already clued up on this one, The Estee Edit is the latest collection to launch from Estee Lauder, who have teamed up with Kendall Jenner and Irene Kim to create what is a make-up and skincare line aimed at a slightly younger, more fresh faced clientele. As you can see from the packaging, it has a much edgier vibe than that a lot of the more traditional Estee Lauder products, which personally, I think is beautiful. And, since the moment I saw US bloggers starting to mention the new line when it was launched there, I just knew that the moment it landed here in the UK I would have to get my hands on it.

After reading/watching many a blog post and YouTube video, I eventually managed to whittle things down and create a list of my most coveted products from the collection, and, when it officially launched yesterday, I got in there quickly and placed an order - next day delivery. Today, I've had fun playing around and giving everything a good test drive, and so I thought I would share with you on here, my first impressions on what I picked up;

Skin Glowing Balm Make Up with Pink Peony (Vanilla)

I don't want to speak too soon, but after wearing this all day today in what have been pretty sticky conditions I think I may have fallen for it big time. What is essentially a tinted moisturiser with a light finish (though it can be mixed with something heavier for a fuller coverage) the Skin Glowing Balm claims to enhance rather than cover your natural skin. I would completely agree with this assessment as I felt it gave me a gorgeous glow and was so hydrating throughout the day once applied. I had been a little worried that after spending a few hours outside in the sunshine, combined with the slightly oily skin I suffer with would mean my looking like an oil slick but in fact it was the complete opposite - I still looked fresh faced and thanks to the long list of lovely ingredients including shea butter, evening primrose oil and peony extract, my skin stayed feeling nourished and soft the entire time.

The Barest Lip Colour in 'So Bare'

The formula of these lipsticks is absolutely out of this world with real flower petal waxes from rose, jasmine and lavender along with muru muru butter helping to hydrate - meaning they apply super smoothly and feel incredibly comfortable on the lips. They are much sheerer than they appear in the bullet, though they can be layered to create a more intense colour and are so creamy and lightweight that you barely know you're wearing them. I went for the shade 'So Bare' - a muted deep rose with a definite hint of brown to it and I LOVE it. So much so that I will definitely be placing another order to pick up my second choice - 'In the Flesh' - a slightly lighter, muted peachy shade and will also be giving the mattified lipsticks in the range a go to see if they live up to their counterparts.

The Barest Contour Lip Liner in 'So Bare'

Again I picked up the shade 'So Bare' to match the lipstick I went for. The shades match the lipsticks in the Barest Lip Colour line and are creamy and easy to apply. It is recommended that you use them more heavily/lighter dependent upon how it is you wish to contour your lips though I have yet to try this. However, I found the liner to make the perfect partner to the lipstick and ensured that the more sheer formula lasted well on my lips.

Hi Lo Stylo in Contour + Highlight

Until now I had been yet to try a contour and highlight in stick form. I went for the light/medium shade and it works really nicely as a subtle alternative to some of the other options out there. It's easy to blend and I also really love how precise you can be with your application - a little nose contouring and Cupid's bow definition is super simple to achieve!

The Barest Blush in 'Coy Coral' + 'Purr Pink'

These are without doubt one of the standout products within the collection, due primarily to the stunning packaging and the metallic spray-over that helps add a subtle shimmer. They are wonderfully pigmented and, infused with sunflower seed oil, have a smooth, buttery texture that applies evenly to give a natural finish that can be built upon easily. I chose the shades 'Purr Pink' and 'Coy Coral' - a brightening pink that adds a slight flush, and a subtle tangerine perfect if you want to achieve that summer glow.

The Edgiest Up + Out Double Mascara

Giant brush on one side, plastic bristles on the other, this stuff has everything I look for in mascara and more. It claims to give big volume and curl, the first of which I can definitely attest to (I have pretty 'curly' lashes even without mascara though so am perhaps not the best qualified to comment on the latter). The smaller plastic brush is perfect for separating and use on the bottom lashes, and, as promised, it is completely budge-proof. I have heard a few people saying that it is a nightmare to take off, but personally I managed it without too much difficulty at all using my normal cleansing oil and muslin cloth. A huge winner if you're into super black, super defined, voluminous lashes.

Pore Vanishing Stick

Having inherited my mother's skin when it comes to larger pores, until now I had come to accept this. When I read about this product's oil absorbing qualities as well as its targeting pores in order to help blur and create a flawless finish though, I thought I would give it a go, not really expecting miracles but curious nonetheless. Essentially it is a primer and concealer in one, and does a lovely job of softening the appearance of pores (of course nothing is going to make them disappear completely) and ensuring oil is kept at bay. I used it across my t-zone and on my chin and found that it provided a really nice base underneath the Skin Glowing Balm.

The Edgiest Kohl Shadow Stick in 'Spiced'

The main reason I picked this up was because I liked the idea of it being an eyeshadow/liner multi-tasking duo. I chose the shade 'Spiced' as it fits my usual copper-ish brown bracket and it works amazingly as a great way to define the lower lash line (my favourite way to use it so far), and, used as an eyeshadow - doesn't crease and applies nicely, being both blendable and buildable.

Flash Photo Gloss

It was the gimmick surrounding this gloss that had me suckered in as soon as I heard about it - containing blue micro pearls that are undetectable once applied but which help to make teeth appear whiter both in person and on camera. Some more road testing is definitely in order here as I didn't notice any immediate difference but that may be because I haven't long have my teeth whitened. The gloss itself is a nice consistency though (not to sticky) and has a sweet smelling vanilla scent, so if you like a bit of shine this might be one for you.

The Verdict?

The products I invested in from the Estee Edit have definitely lived up to my expectations. I am seriously impressed with almost everything I have tried and I am excited about giving some more bits including some of the skincare from the line a go. It is without doubt worth the price tag for me, with the Skin Glowing Balm, the mascara, the Barest Lip Colour lipsticks and the Barest Blushes being my favourites on first impression.

The collection is available exclusively at Selfridges now, and I would seriously recommend you check it out if you're into your dewy, fresh skin and natural nudes i.e. if you're looking to channel your inner Kendall!

SWITCHING IT UP: SKINCARE

Although skincare is by far my favourite thing when it comes to beauty (closely followed by the need to amass the world’s largest lipstick collection), lately, I have been a little lazy when it comes to my routine, and so, in an attempt to mix it up a little, over the past couple of months I have introduced a number of new products. And, of the many that I have tried and tested, some have ended up somewhat pushed to the back of the shelf, and others I have found myself reaching for time and time again.

Number one on the list, has to be the Clarins Multi Active Night Cream, which, I must confess – I ended up picking up along with the day cream following the hype that surrounded their launch. To begin with, both were somewhat ‘nothing’ products – or so I thought. They did a good job of moisturising my skin – the formula was quite dense and nourishing but sank in nicely without any sticky residue, they smelt lovely (like that nostalgic sun lotion smell that reminds me of being at the beach when I was younger), but as far as having the wow factor was concerned, I didn’t notice anything outstanding about the results after use. It was only when I neglected to use both creams (though especially the night), that I started to notice that my skin was craving something richer in addition to the numerous hydrating masks and serums that I had been using. Each time, I would end up reaching for this, and each time it seemed to solve the problem – my skin felt plumper, softer, more awake and if I’m honest, just all round happier than it did before and the fact that I am currently scraping the pot for the last few uses speaks volumes as to how reliant I have become on the stuff.

Sticking with Clarins, I have also discovered within the last couple of weeks, their Repair Booster treatment which, I have decided, makes the perfect partner to the Nutri Active Creams. How this works is that you mix in three to four drops in with your moisturiser of choice and let it work its magic. I’ve heard it described as being a ‘beauty shot for the skin’ which I love the concept of, and with its concentrated formula containing ingredients like natural mimosa - set to target (in this case) irritation and sensitivity (at the same time addressing redness – one of my constant concerns) it works a treat and, I find, also allows your moisturiser to go further when it comes to application – adding in it’s own little hit of hydration into the deal. There are two other new Boosters within the range – Detox and Energy, which I have to try but which after finding myself falling for this one so much, I kind of feel like I now need to so that I am prepped for any skincare situation that may arise!

Away from treatments for a moment, one of the steps that I have been neglecting to include in my routine lately, despite previously having always been a stickler for it, has been to tone my skin after cleansing. This is something that I have decided to rectify and thought I would try something new rather than repurchasing my much loved Clarins Gentle Exfoliating Brightening Toner (which I would also highly recommend). This time I went for the REN Clarimatte Clarifying Facial Toner as I had heard good things, and I started loving the results even after just one use – who knew what a difference a toner could make! As the name would suggest, it targets oily skin and helps to reduce the appearance of pore size whilst at the same time, helping with the use of Glycolic and lactic acids present, to lightly exfoliate – decongesting and helping rid the skin of dead cells leaving it feeling smooth and looking radiant. And, after suffering a couple of nasty hormonal breakouts recently, I have also found that using this with its Anti-microbial properties, alongside my Caudalie Instant Detox Mask has meant that I have been able to keep these under control and that they have cleared up quickly without any reappearance.

And, finally, what would a lengthy ramble about skincare be without a good face mask? What is in this case – now the latest addition to my stash – the Liz Earle Brightening Treatment Mask. Truth be told, I have only used this twice after picking it up this week as a result of seeing Tati mention it in one of her favourites videos recently. A quick fix in order to brighten dull skin sounded like exactly what I needed as an antidote to the early starts and long days at the office that leave my skin looking a little lacklustre to say the very least. It wasn’t until I tried this though that I recognised it as being one of those ‘miracle’ products where by you can see the results pretty much immediately after use. For a brightening mask, I did in fact find it to be incredibly gentle on the skin (though it is worth noting that does state on the Liz Earle site that it is not suitable for more sensitive skin types – however, I certainly didn’t suffer any irritation after use), and with a combination of white clay, camphor oil, witch hazel and aloe vera, I actually found it to be quite soothing with only a very slight tingle the second time I used it (which I suspect was due to my having used a manual exfoliate beforehand. After leaving it on for the recommended 30 seconds – 2 minutes, I saw a real difference in how much life it gave my dull skin after the thirteen hour day it had just endured. I can see this becoming a firm fixture in my routine and something I am going to have to ration as there are so many instances where I could make use of it’s brightening properties, I will have to be careful and choose wisely! It is also my first foray into the land of Liz Earle Skincare, and so I might have to look further into trying out some more products from the brand. If you’ve any to recommend I would be all ears.

ALL ABOUT THAT BASE

Please tell me I’m not the only one who can be incredibly lazy when it comes to base application? When I can get away with it I will always use my fingers – a) because it’s a lot quicker and b) because it means brush washing becomes a less frequent event which IMO can only be a good thing. And that’s fine, especially if I’m wearing a lighter base, but when it comes to a fuller coverage foundation, sometimes my tips just won’t cut it and I need to pull out the big guns. I realised a few weeks back that my usual go to tools – i.e. the Bobbi Brown Face and the Real Techniques buffing brush, had seen better days, and so I decided to pick up a few new additions to my face kit – namely, these three;

Beauty Blender

When these first came on the scene all I could think was circa 2001 – power foundation compacts and the matching sponges that came with. I just couldn’t get my head around the concept, and it is only recently after witnessing something of a revival in the beauty community, that I decided to give into the hype and put it to the test. Though it takes a little more time than I'd like to work foundation into the skin, the finish it gives is beautiful and undoubtedly the most natural of the three - absorbing any excess and giving a light and consistent finish. In fact, I have been using it after my base brush of choice as a last step to ensure even application and no build up on patches that are more prone to dryness and it works a treat. It also works great with concealer (especially under eye - helped by the pointed end), and is, I've found, fantastic for touch ups on the go, making the perfect partner to my Shiseido Fixing Mist in order to refresh my base throughout the day.

Sigma 3DHD Kabuki Brush

This was my first wander into the realms of Sigma and I was eager to find out what all the fuss was about. It was the unique concept of this brush being designed with the intention of making application quick and precise that really caught my attention as I’ve no time in the mornings to be faffing around too much with make-up as much as I would love to. It definitely works best with a medium to full coverage base product due to the density of the brush hairs being so high (tending to just suck up any lighter coverage counterparts) – it works perfectly with the Dior Forever Foundation that I have been testing out the past week or so, and is great for when you need to get into the areas around your eyes and nose that can be a little harder to manoeuvre. The finish it leaves is pretty flawless, and with the aid of the Beauty Blender used to press in/absorb any excess – a full coverage, lasting finish is easily achievable with this one.

Clinique Buffing Brush

What I believe is the latest release amidst the selection, and what I have come to consider to be the most multi-tasking of the bunch too. It works well with pretty much all of the different bases I have tried it with – be it high coverage, sheer, a creamier, gel-like or a more liquid consistency and in each instance blends quickly and leaves my skin looking absolutely flawless after application. I don’t really need to use the Beauty Blender with this one, though I will on occasion if I am feeling something super natural. It does a great job on it’s own though thanks to the fact that though the ends of the brush hairs are fairly well dispersed and allow for quick and even application, the base of the brush is still quite dense and so your base product of choice buffs in seamlessly without it looking too thick or any going to waste.

NYX PICKS

Unless you've been hiding under a rock of late, you'll know that NYX has finally become widely available in the UK and is now stocked in Boots stores. I managed to track down a stand last week and made the most of being able to have a good swatch and pick up a few products I'd either heard good things about, had my eye on for a while or just thought looked interesting.

When it comes to lips, the first thing I made a b-line for was the Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm which seems to be one of those must have shades at the moment. It was sold out online and in store the first time I went in with the intention of picking it up, but second time lucky in this case and I managed to get hold of it. I have tried the Soft Matte Lip Creams before and find them to be long lasting without being too drying, and, when they do fade it isn't over obvious (where the lighter shades are concerned at least). Stockholm is a beautiful understated peachy-nude, perfect for the upcoming spring/summer season and I can see this becoming a permanent fixture in my make up bag for the foreseeable.

I also wanted to try out some of the new Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks as after swatching them they were SO pigmented that I just couldn't say no. I picked up the shades Vintage - a deep purple with a hint of brown to it (think MAC Whirl but a little vampier) and Tea and Cookies - a creamy muted pink which dries down a lot duskier than it appears in the packaging. The formula of these is gorgeous and actually feels a lot more luxurious/smoother to apply than the Soft Matte Lip Creams which I am assuming has something to do with the avocado oil and Vitamin E present - helping to hydrate and ensure even application.

The two Hot Singles Eyeshadows I grabbed were a bit of an impulse purchase - Coquette and Sex Kitten - a matte slate with a touch of mauve and a light shimmery nude with a slight peach tone, seemed like they would make perfect everyday shades that I could just swipe on all over my lids without having to think too much. I have yet to test these but will report back on how they wear today after a full days work at the office.

NYX's blush in Dusty Rose was the first product I both tried and loved from them going back four or five years now, so I was excited to have a gander and try out some more from their new lines. The first one that caught my attention was the High Definition Blush in Hamptons - your standard peachy-nude but in a completely matte formula. Pigmented enough, though not overly so (i.e. it's easily buildable) this applies very nicely thanks to the finely milled formula, however, it is a little powdery so be careful of any excess! The product itself lasts extremely well and I am looking forward to trying more from the line. At the same time, I also nabbed the shade Ignite from their Baked Blush range - a muted orange with a golden bronze shimmer running through it. Once you get past the first layer, this stuff is beautifully pigmented and I can see it looking incredible as either a blush/highlight shade during the summer months once I've whipped the fake tan out alongside a slick of coral lip gloss.

And last but not least, the Highlight and Contour Pro Palette. I 100% hadn't intended on getting this, but after swatching some of the shades I felt like it was worth a go. The two lightest highlight shades, despite not looking like much in the pan, are very finely milled and blend beautifully to create the most subtle of shimmers, and the third contour shade from left is the perfect light, ashy tone for my pale skin (it's also a great dupe in terms of colour for Kevin Aucoin's Sculpting Powder in Light). For £18, compared to most of the other contouring kits on the market, I thought this was an absolute bargain, and I am looking forward to having a proper play with it in order to compare.

REVIEW: PAI COPAIBA DEEP CLEANSE AHA MASK

My skin has been having a ‘moment’ of late, something which began after the ‘incident’ with the glycolic peel mask I mentioned in my French Skincare post. Luckily, the products I talked about there, really helped to sort out the issues I had, but since then, I have been feeling a little wary of using anything too harsh on my face for fear of a similar outcome! Step forward Pai…

Their tagline is ‘Organic Solutions for Sensitive Skin’, and though sensitivity isn't normally a big issue for me, redness tends to be, plus the fact that this mask is aimed towards oily-combination/blemish prone skin, was enough to get me intrigued. I already own a couple of Pai products – namely their Sea Aster and Wild Oat Redness Serum and everybody’s favourite – the Rose Hip Bioregenerate Oil, and am a big fan of both – particularly the former. Hence, as I was after something that would gently exfoliate my skin and also cleanse at the same time, the Deep Cleanse AHA Mask sounded ideal.

It contains clay, along with fruit and lactic acids which work at doing exactly that, but without leaving your skin feeling at all vexed. The formula itself is a creamy consistency – something which immediately bodes well with me when it comes to being able to gage whether the ‘gentle’ claims are likely to be true. And, at the same time, it feels very lightweight to apply – it does so evenly and it isn’t one of those masks that leaves your face tingling the minute you put it on. There is a very slight scent to it, but again, it’s nothing overpowering and once applied for a minute or two, really isn’t noticeable. I would compare it most in both consistency and results, to the Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel – which again, is a product I absolutely love and come to think of it, must repurchase (it smells incredible), but this is even gentler on your skin and it was this that impressed me just as much as the end result - leaving my skin feeling clean and super smooth.

If you struggle with finding products due to particularly sensitive skin then I would highly recommend you give this one a go, as I find that exfoliating products are some of the hardest to crack when it comes to skin that is susceptible to irritation. In fact, from what I have tried from Pai, so far, I would recommend them as a brand whole heartedly and whether you have sensitive skin or not, their products are beautiful and very effective. I shall definitely be trying out more in future.

A SPRING CLEAN

When I think of spring in terms of beauty, I tend to envisage peachy-pinks, floral scents and sheer bases. Hints of colour but with an altogether fresher feel than a lot of the deeper hues I normally associate with the colder months. I find myself more inclined to wear a satin lipstick or to layer a gloss over my normal matte shade of choice, and seem to start reaching a lot more often for the bronzer that sits unused at the back of my Muji draws for six months of the year. Spring is a time where new blossoms bloom – out with the old and in with the new - and so it feels only right to me to have a spring clean around this time of year, of not only my space at home and my wardrobe, but also my make-up stash. And, in the process, I get chance to make room for a few new products in my collection, and to rediscover some old favourites – the likes of which I wanted to talk about today;

Lips

Usually the first thing I think of when it comes to being able to pair make-up with a specific season. I never like to go too wild when it comes to lips on a day to day basis – and though I am a huge fan of a red lip; be it pillar box, burgundy, berry – you name it – I find that a lot of the peachy-pink shades that I mentioned, just don’t seem to suit my skin tone. For this reason, I tend to stick to either more muted versions of these shades, or something a little sheerer, avoiding the brighter fuchsias and neon pinks that look so wonderful on some people. Some of my favourites lately have been Tom Ford's 'Indian Rose', Charlotte Tilbury's 'Between the Sheets' and Rosie for Autograph's 'Camisole Blush'.

Cheeks

I am definitely a stickler when it comes to blush, more often than not sticking with my trusty dusky mauves and muted pinks. I don’t think I suit anything to bright or harsh and so it can be difficult sometimes, despite wanting to like a product, to actually really fall in love with it. Lately though I have found a couple of exceptions to the rule. Becca’s 'Flowerchild' and Laura Mercier’s 'Lotus Pink' are two beautiful shades which I find work incredibly well thanks to the fact that they are beautifully pigmented with a gorgeous buttery formula, but at the same time, when used sparingly apply sheer and are really buildable. The former is a delicate peach, and the latter, what I would describe as being a peony pink with a very slight hint of coral. Both wear well and I have been alternating between them on a day to day basis of late.

Nails

If you read my Budget Buys posts a few weeks back, you will have seen me mention the Loreal Colour Riche nail polishes and these are still some of my faves – since then I have picked up the shade 'Nudedemoi' - a gorgeous off white with just a hint of pink to it. I have also been seriously loving the Tom Ford's 'Mink Brulee' and, my most recent discovery - the new Dior Vernis Polka Dots Colour and Dots Manicure sets – the duo 003 Plumetis in particular. I’m not normally one for nail art, and it was originally the darker shade in this set that I spotted in store not realising that it came as part of a pair that also included the nail dotting tool alongside. I decided to pick it up anyway, as both shades are super pretty for Spring and whether used alone or together give a beautiful result. I also really love the fact that the bottles are miniature and so perfect for sticking in your bag in case you need to touch up on the go. The 'Confettis' duo consisting of a brighter peach and a vibrant coral are also stunning and I am seriously considering laying my hands on them for Summer before they disappear off the counters.

Fragrance

Like I say, when it comes to Spring I enjoy a light fragrance – something sweet and delicate, and the first of the two I am going to mention, fits the bill perfectly; Jo Malone’s 'Wild Bluebell'. There aren’t many sights or smells that fill me with joy more so than a wood full of wild bluebells and so from the minute I smelt this, what is now a couple of years ago, I just knew I had to have it. As with all Jo Malone scents, there is nothing artificial about it and it smells exactly like the real thing. It isn’t the most long wearing fragrance I own, but I carry it with me as I have the smaller 30ml bottle and spritzing it throughout the day not only makes me smell delicious but also brings a smile to my face at the same time. At the somewhat opposite end of the spectrum, is Diptique’s Eau Duelle; a much woodier scent with notes of vanilla, frankincense and spices incorporated throughout. It isn’t your typical Spring scent, but personally I like to separate my fragrances through what I would consider evening and day appropriate options. This is definitely more evening orientated and as such is a lot sexier, darker and more sultry, whilst still maintaining a hint of that sweetness thanks to the vanilla. I’ve heard a lot of people compare the scent to that of white chocolate and I can definitely see where they are coming from; something which I am definitely not going to be complaining about!

Sanctuary Spa 1 Minute Micro Dermabrasion Polish

There was quite the buzz around the Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask at one stage, and, having used it and repurchased on more than one occasion, I can claim to be quite the fan. The self-heating formula is something I really enjoy and that I feel my skin benefits from when it comes to allowing pores to open up and deep cleanse - drawing to the surface, all the dirt and impurities that have managed to gather throughout the day. And, the polish works very similarly; but, with the added benefit of a light exfoliation to boot. The consistency itself is most like a paste and contains super fine polishing particles of marine earth and natural kaolin that help to gently buff away dead skin cells . It isn't too harsh, doesn't my leave my skin red or feeling irritated, and does a great job as you would expect with it being part of their 'Radiance' range, of leaving my skin feeling ultra soft and glowy after use.

CHANEL LE VERNIS Longwear Nail Colour - 'Garconne'

A new range of shades was added to the Chanel Le Vernis line recently - replacing the majority of the existing shades with 15 brand spanking new ones, and, along with the introduction of the new colours was their new formulation - claiming to provide chip free manis for six days straight. The shade 'Garconne' immediately called out to me - a gorgeous greyish green (not quite khaki), the likes of which I haven't seen before - and so this was the one I picked up. Though I never really had the same issues with the original formula as a lot of people seemed to when it came to chipping and the like - I did feel that this formula seemed thicker and more opaque with just one coat. It has been lasting a good 4/5 days without any real visible signs of wear (and that's with me being lazy and neglecting to apply a base/top coat), and so if you did I should imagine it would go the six days without a problem. The shades Organdi and Monochrome are next on my list!

NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint SPF 30

Following my having being sorely disappointed after investing in the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation last year, I was originally rather skeptical regarding this new release. The former had managed to dry out my combination skin in all the wrong places and only added to my oily t-zone issues. Against my better judgement though, and having seen the Matte Moisture Tint pop up with reviews backing up not only the moisturizing and the matte claims but also the medium finish - three of the things I often go for in a base - I decided I would throw caution to the wind and give it a go to see whether these so often talked about NARS bases really were worth the hype.

In all honestly, I think I must have been unlucky with my first choice, because this is the stuff of dreams. I went for the second to lightest shade (Finland) which is a great match for my fair complexion (for reference I'm normally the shade 'Mont Blanc' when it comes to other NARS offerings) and it glides on so nicely that I feel confident in saying it is my favourite tinted moisturiser I have tried in terms of application. This is due to the fact that its silky texture means it sinks in like something more sheer but still has the coverage of a foundation meaning a flawless end result with any redness having disappeared without the need to layer. I like to use my fingers to apply, not only because it is quicker, but because I prefer the finish this way - it's somehow smoother. And, on a side note, remember that that a little goes a long way. Where durability is concerned, the lasting power is impressive - it doesn't noticeably cake or fade throughout the 12 hour days that I have been subjecting it to, and though I have felt the need to powder on a couple of occasions, so long as I am out and about and not sat under the office's unflattering fluorescent lights, it isn't anything too severe and could without doubt be judged as being more of a glow than a shine that appears. It has been my go-to every day base of late and I can't see that changing any time soon.

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil

I have been completely obsessed with face oils lately, and this one from Sunday Riley is no exception. It has received a lot of hype and of that I was mindful when I made my purchase, along with the fact that it is aimed at targeting signs of ageing (something I'm not sure how easy it is to assess) along with renewing skin cells and making your skin look youthful and radiant.

The first few times I tried this, to me, it was one of those 'meh' products. It was nice, it kept my skin feeling hydrated, it felt luxurious to apply and smelt delicious - no doubt something to do with the avocado, chia and concord grape seed combination. However, there was no 'wow' factor that made me think the £85 I had spent was worth it. It wasn't until maybe a week or two of use, and, one evening, having swapped this out for another oil in my routine, that I realised what a difference it had been making. With it, my skin looked more awake - I woke up with it looking plumped and refined and it didn't seem to dull even throughout the day and with make up wear. Without, it was just left feeling a little lacklustre, hence why I have been reaching for it every day ever since.

Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes Mascara

Another grower in that when I first tried this I wasn't a fan at all - the formula was way too dry for me and though it didn't flake, I didn't feel like it gave my lashes the oomph I wanted it to and I wasn't overly keen on the bristle brush either. I like voluminous yet separated lashes that are big and black and it just didn't seem to be giving me those. After a little bit of experimenting though, I have found that the key with this one is to layer - be it two or three coats on it's own, or as I have sometimes been doing - using it over my Lancome Hypnose Volume-a-porter Mascara (which I raved about here), it gives you volume like you wouldn't believe, minus the clumping - perfect.

YSL Touche Eclat (Slogan Edition)

Despite its longstanding cult status in the beauty world, it wasn't until recently when I was drawn in by the cute slogan editions of this that I decided to give it a go. Never having really been one for concealer or having suffered when it comes to dark circles, I skirted over the thought that I might benefit from an illuminating product such as this but boy was I wrong. It brightens my under-eyes up beautifully and applies and blends in so easily without creasing throughout the day, that I have really fallen for this and can completely understand why it has received so much love by so many for so long. Plus there's the added bonus of how pretty it looks in my make up bag ;)

CAUDALIE VINOSOURCE: THE POWER OF THE GRAPE

If you’ve read my 'French Skincare Staples' post, you will already know that one of the latest additions to my face mask stash has been the Caudalie Instant Detox mask – something which until a few weeks ago, I hadn’t realised was part of their Vinosource line. In fact, it wasn’t until Caudalie contacted me and kindly offered to send over some of their new products set to launch as part of the collection, that it registered what a big fan of it I already am – not only already owning the mask, but also the Overnight Recovery Oil and the S.O.S Serum, both of which I have been using for quite some time.

Much of the Vinosource range itself is formulated using organic grape water set to soothe and hydrate skin, eliminating redness and leaving it looking and feeling refreshed - things that I had found the products I had already tried, to tackle brilliantly. And, having been trialing out the new products in the line over the last couple of weeks, I can happily report that they too, seem to be living up to these claims. I have really been enjoying using them, and, more importantly, am super impressed so far, with the results I have seen in such a short space of time.

My two favourites amid the bunch, have been the Moisturizing Sorbet* and the Matifying Fluid*, both of which have now become daily staples in my skincare routine. The former is a beautiful, lightweight moisturiser with a gel-cream consistency that means it turns to liquid upon contact with the skin and sinks in instantly. It has a wonderful, delicate fragrance containing notes of mandarin blossom, lemon tree leaf, cucumber and fresh mint, which aren’t at all overpowering and make it a joy to apply. I know when I really love a moisturiser, when I find myself using it both in the evening and before getting started each day, which is exactly what I've been doing with this. Thanks to its easily absorbed formula, it is perfect for use under make up, and, at the same time, can be mixed with your oil/serum of choice in the evening to give your skin that extra little boost of hydration – something I have been doing each night by adding in a few drops of the Overnight Recovery Oil/S.O.S Serum that I mentioned. As a result, my skin has felt smooth, plumped and hydrated but without the tacky/greasy feeling I’m often left with after moisturizing with something heavier.

Alongside the sorbet*, I have also been using the Matifying Fluid* each morning underneath my make-up and have found it to be a fantastic primer, not only for keeping oil at bay thanks to the Java tea leaf extracts present, helping to absorb and regulate sebum production, but for ensuring my base product of choice doesn’t cake and break up throughout the day. It doesn’t feel at all silicony and leaves my skin feeling moisturised and velvety smooth before I apply make-up. I have noticed a remarkable difference between how my face looks at the end of the day after wearing this compared with when I forget to apply it.

As far as the Grape Water* itself is concerned, I don’t feel like I have had chance to thoroughly test this out as yet, though I have used it on a couple of occasions as the toning step within my skincare routine, and can confirm that it both smells beautiful and is great for if you’re looking to quickly cool and refresh tired skin. I have no doubt though, that once the warmer weather arrives, this will become a handbag essential for me, especially thanks to the aerosol spray that provides a nice even application as opposed to some of the ‘squirtier’ alternatives out there!

If you’re into your lightweight formulas when it comes to skincare then I would definitely recommend giving these new additions to the Vinosource line a go. Whether you’ve dry skin in need of a hit of hydration, want to battle a touch of rouge or eliminate shine, I feel like the line up has something for everyone and could benefit all skin types. I have yet to try the two other new releases in the range – the Intense Moisture Rescue Cream and the Moisture Recovery Cream - but now that I’ve been wowed by these, I feel like it won’t be too long before temptation gets the better of me and I give them a go.

PERRICONE MD: NO MAKE UP SKINCARE

When I first heard about this range of products from Perricone MD, I liked the sound of it but was a little sceptical of the concept. Essentially, it has been developed with the aim of trying to address dull looking skin (something that becomes more common with age) by giving it a natural radiance without it looking like you've loaded the make-up on.

At the same time, the products contain ingredients that are beneficial for the skin and that over time claim to have it looking plumped and more youthful with continued use. Both the No Bronzer Bronzer and the No Highlighter Highlighter for instance, contain Vitamin C ester, which support natural collagen production and diffuse existing sun damage. Though I can't really comment as to the skincare claims as yet, as I have only been using these for a couple of weeks, I can definitely attest to the radiant skin claims and say that the No Make-up range has so far completely surpassed my expectations in that respect.

The No Foundation Foundation provides a pretty sheer coverage, which for me is fine as I've been enjoying a lighter base lately (just using concealer to touch up the under eyes and any particular patches that need it). The texture is beautiful - it's so smooth that it applies more like a moisturiser than a foundation, and takes little blending as it almost melts into the skin with very little effort required. I went for the shade 'Light', which is a pretty perfect match for my pale complexion, although the more bronzed amongst you may struggle as there are only two shades available - light and light/medium. Ingredients like antioxidant alpha lipolic acid are present, along with SPF30 which look to both protect the skin and minimise the appearance of pores and fine lines - something I find the foundation to do well despite it's lightweight formula - which, on a side note, also means that it is long-lasting, wears well and doesn't cake.

When it comes to the rest of the base products, again I was equally wowed - the liquid formula of each meaning they were super easy to blend and ended up looking incredibly natural on the skin. The No Bronzer Bronzer is warm toned but in no way orange, and what I like about it most as with the other base products, is how easily buildable it is. A little goes a long way but blends out easily, and so it's really hard to overdo it. The same goes for the No Blush Blush, which as you would expect, adds a beautiful rosy glow to the cheeks - adapting to each individual skin-tone, and, when combined with the No Highlighter Highlighter that contains light-reflecting pigment pearls, creates the most gorgeous luminous finish.

The No Lipstick Lipstick is more of a balm and applies relatively sheer, though again, you can layer it up for more coverage. It leaves lips looking smooth, plumped and feeling super hydrated with a natural rosy tint. I have also already noticed a notable difference with the condition of my lips with this one - any dryness having disappeared after just a couple of uses. The fact that it contains SPF20 is a huge plus for me, and claims that the presence of neuropeptides to help activate surface renewal and regenerate skin, really seem to ring true so far.

If you haven't already, I would thoroughly recommend giving the No Make Up collection a go. Other than perhaps the foundation, I think the shades would work well with the majority of skin tones, and if it's incandescence with a side order of skincare benefits that you're after, then this lot will fit the bill perfectly.

THE ILLUMINATING LINE-UP

Fresh faced and fancy free is a look I have really been enjoying lately. I think it's a subconscious thing after seeing so many spring 'switch up' posts floating around that have inspired me and made me want to strive to achieve a healthy glow.

When it comes to base, the two products I have been reaching for on an equally regular basis have been the NIOD Photography Fluid and the BECCA Backlight Priming Perfector. I first spotted the former when I was watching one of Jess's videos where she paired it with the By Terry Cover Expert Foundation. Her skin looked incredible and so I picked them both up on a whim and haven't looked back.

Since then, I have seen the Photography Fluid gracing the blogosphere on a much more regular basis and have heard rave reviews each time I have seen it mentioned. Personally, I find its 'camera hue correction technologies', great when it comes to helping me tone down the redness in my skin and though I can't stipulate as to its performance in front of the camera (something it apparently excels at), I can say, that I have fallen big time for its oil-free yet hydrating formula which sinks in effortlessly and blurs any imperfections, leaving my skin looking and feeling flawless and radiant. I like to apply as I do with most primers and use a layer under my foundation, as I find that products tend to apply more evenly this way. Though equally, you could mix a few drops in if you wanted to save some time and I am sure the final effect would be very much comparable.

In many ways, the BECCA primer works similarly - again, helping to boost the luminosity of your skin compared with what a stand alone foundation would have the power to do. The texture of this stuff is a lot more creamy as opposed to the photography fluid which as you would expect is more of a liquid consistency, and so this does take a bit more working into the skin. Despite this fact though, it does have its pros in that this means it is somewhat more multifunctional and as well as using this as a base/primer, it can also easily be used as a 'regular' highlight on the high points of the face to add a little something.

And speaking of highlighters, these are something that admittedly I can be a bit of a floozy when it comes to usually. I've a number in my collection and a number on my current wishlist (with BECCA's Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone sitting at the top right now), but these two have been the main contenders for favourite that I have been reaching for lately.

Not an awful lot needs to be said about the first - the same BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector but in Champagne Pop has received so much hype lately that of course I caved and gave it a go. Just a smidge of this will go a long way and give you a beautiful sun-kissed glow. It is shimmery, but thanks to the beautiful finely milled, buttery formula of the BECCA highlighters, there are no huge chunks of glitter in there. When used sparingly, this stuff will give your cheekbones a real wow factor - just remember not to go all out and end up looking like a disco ball rather than achieving that subtle sparkle you were after.

Then there's the MAC Creme Colour Base in the shade 'Hush' - a creamy highlight with a peachy glow that works especially well when it's the 'golden goddess' look that you're going for. I love pairing this with my NARS Deep Throat blush, a smokey brown eye and a slick of gloss in a neutral shade for when I want that 'glow' to be taken to the next level.

And for the grand finale and to compete the line up - the piece de resistance - Tatcha's Dewy Skin Mist. Another much talked about product in the blogging world recently, and, as far as I am aware, still only available from Sephora to ship over from the US. A couple of spritzes of this goes a long way in not only adding a burst of radiance to the complexion, but in ensuring your make up doesn't fade or cake as much as it might usually do throughout the day. Just don't overdo it or again, you might end up with more of a gleam than a glow with this one! A beautiful product though, and with dreamy packaging to boot.

FRENCH SKINCARE STAPLES: DRY/SENSITIVE SKIN

The last week or so my skin has been feeling a little temperamental - not helped by the fact that I suffered a rather unfortunate incident involving a glycolic peel mask and some poor time keeping issues (don't ask!). And so I found myself reverting back to a few of my favourites when it comes to dealing with problem skin (namely dry and sensitive in this instance), and soon realised that the majority of these sat in the 'French skincare' category. If it's a soothing hit of hydration, minus the irritability and without the need to compromise in any other area of your skincare routine, then these four products should have you covered.

Avene Gentle Gel Cleanser

Gel cleansers aren't something I indulge in often. The Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel is absolutely sublime, and now that I think about it, I need to stock up, but if it's something non- offensive and super kind to your skin that you're after then look no further than this stuff. Fantastic for if you have particularly sensitive skin, or indeed if it's just acting up and having a temperamental moment - the fact that this is enriched with moisturising agents means your skin is left feeling soft and supple after use. It's also great for use around the eyes if you suffer with sensitivity there too, and if you do as they suggest and follow this with a spritz of your favourite spray toner your face is left feeling beautifully cooled and refreshed.

Caudalie Instant Detox Mask

A more recent addition to my skincare stash, but already a firm fave nonetheless. This stuff has what I would describe as being a cross between a gel and a cream like consistency, applies clear and yet dries as a clay would - opaque and relatively quickly during the 5-10 minutes it's recommend you leave it on for. It really is unique in terms of texture when compared with any other mask I have tried, though the effects remind me a lot of the Aesop Parsley Seed Cleansing mask that everyone raves about and of which I am also a big fan. For me though, I think this one pips it to the post in that it really doesn't dry out the skin as some clay based masks have a tendency to do. It doesn't irritate my skin either, but it does do a great job of tightening and de-congesting. I am also a big fan the ingredients it contains - pink clay (which aids to balance my combination skin), grape marc and coffee, and papaya extract (helping to smooth whilst also ensuring things smell amazing!). The more I use this, the more in love with it I fall, and I can't wait now to try out more of the masks in the range.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Power Serum

This one is an old faithful that I have been using for years now, and with a name like that, I guess you really are led to expect great things. Luckily, it lives up to the expectations and really packs a punch when it comes to hydration. The best part though, is how it manages to do this - gliding on and sinking in beautifully without feeling tacky or greasy on your skin, instead, leaving it plumped and smooth. It's one of the only serums and indeed skincare products that I enjoy and feel comfortable using underneath and as a base for make-up, and so I tend to slather this stuff on both morning and night when I'm in need of a real moisture boost. I've seen a lot of comparisons between this and Hydraluron, and though I am a fan of both, the more liquid consistency of this and the fact that a little goes a long way with the effects seeming to last longer means this one wins the battle between the two.

Nuxe Ultra Comforting Face Cream

Another product if you want to bring out the big guns to tackle dry, sensitive skin. With a pretty thick consistency, you might expect this to take a lot of working in, but in fact it sinks in relatively quickly and 'comforting' is the right word as for me at least, it feels as though my skin has been coated in a luxurious, soothing, protective barrier that locks in the moisture and helps to hydrate - a hug for your skin if you will. I find that it helps to soothe and eliminate redness and that a little goes a long way when you're applying. Though it's not a moisturiser I would use every day unless I was suffering a particularly bad dry spell (I like to mix it up and use a lighter moisturiser over serums/oils when I can), for those of you that suffer with permanent dryness, there's no doubt that you should be picking this one up pronto!

KERASTASE: THE DREAM DUO

Haircare is something that I am not often wowed by, especially when it comes to your standard shampoo and conditioner. In the most part, I find that the majority do a very similar job and that it's not worth spending extortionate amounts on products that ultimately never seem to make a huge difference in comparison with their budget counterparts.

Every once in a while though, I find something that stands out and that I think is worth writing home about - or blogging about as is the case in this instance.

I've tried a number of products from Keratase before and as a result I am quite a big fan of their treatments - the Kérastase Resistance Ciment Thermique and the Kérastase Nutritive Nectar Thermique being two of my favourites. Until now though, the shampoos and conditioners I had tried had never proven to be anything special. My downfall when it comes to washing my hair is that I quite often end up skipping conditioner a) to save time and b) because it often ends up weighing my hair down.

When teamed together though, the Kérastase Chronologiste Revitalizing Bain Shampoo and the Kérastase Elixir Ultime Fondant Conditioner give exactly what it is I'm after - lightweight, squeaky-clean hair with a healthy shine. In general I am pretty lucky in that I only need to wash my hair, on average, around twice a week. And so, when I do, I like to use a shampoo that is going to really get in deep and remove all trace of the products I've been using on the days in between.

The Chronologiste shampoo does a great job of this and it also smells amazing. It lathers up well meaning I can get a really intense massage going to rid my scalp of any remnants of products and impurities, and it is also formulated with Abyssine - what is essentially a molecule that helps to regenerate and strengthen hair fibres - something my desperately in need of a trim hair really needs at the moment.

When combined with the conditioner which is actually very thin in consistency (hence the ability to avoid weighing your hair down), and which contains a plethora of precious oils - Argan, Maize, Camellia and Pracaxi - the two are a match made in heaven. I love the fact that I can smell the subtle fragrance on my hair for days afterwards, and for the first time in a long time it looks as though both my shampoo and conditioner will be finished up at the same time. Now if that doesn't show what a conditioner convert I have become then I don't know what does!
