A muse for Words

One

2011-02-13T22:38:00.002-05:00

I broke my Sony digital camera when I accidentally dropped it (ooops), so there won't be any *NEW* photos until I get a new camera. Hopefully I'll save up enough money to get a new one.

Take Two

2011-01-21T22:15:00.000-05:00

Even though I'm an advertising major, I somehow feel that words are inappropriate to describe my own photographs. I can't objectively judge my photos and say that they're good or bad. I can only say that they're a reflection of what I think is the most interesting subject at the time, and that changes all the time.

Broken Glass

2010-12-29T23:06:00.000-05:00

To anyone who was actually reading this blog anymore.... I am sorry. Last semester was crazy and with work and school, and I kind of have no excuse except to say that I was completely and utterly lazy. I've stopped taking a lot of pictures, which makes me sad.

So to revitalize this blog I will update at least once a week, it's not a promise, but it's a start.

Long Time No See

2010-09-18T01:38:00.000-04:00

Haven't updated in a while... but I also haven't been feeling much inspiration.

I Feel Sleepy

2010-09-02T01:54:00.000-04:00

The cat in the first picture is my friend's cat Brain and the cat in the third picture is my friend's cat Gooby. School and waking up early is tough..but then again, I shouldn't stay up late into the night..

Flutter

2010-08-29T02:23:00.000-04:00

I sadly haven't posted any pictures in a while. It's hard to adjust to school again after slacking off for the whole summer. Makes me just want to forget about everything...

Dream World

2010-08-07T16:05:00.005-04:00

I've decided that I want to post photos in a large format instead, and I'm using Photobucket because I think that the image uploader here somehow degrades the quality of the photos I post. All the pictures in this post are supposed to be "hazy" and have an ambiguous and unclear quality.

I realize that not everyone likes this kind of photography, but I found with this type of photography you don't have to care about the photo quality being clear and of professional quality. All the pictures above are from my old and rusty Nikon digital camera.

Caged

I haven't really posted in a while, but these are just a random collection of "animal" related pictures I've taken last year.

What I see everyday Part 1

2010-07-29T06:57:00.000-04:00

Just some old photos from my rusty, now defunct, Nikon. It's almost seven in the morning and I never usually post this early. It's the end of July too! I'm sorry for the very bland sounding titles. I switched around the format of the blog a little to make it look a little cleaner??

The reason I posted these was because these are just some of the very ordinary, if boring, objects that I look at from day to day. I've just been thinking that there is very little that I do keep for extended periods of time because almost all the objects photographed above that I used to look at everyday are gone..

Anyway, excuse the uncreative rambling and please check out my tumblr for even more nonsensical rambling: here

Cats and Shiny Objects

2010-07-28T19:43:00.000-04:00

Shot in my friend's house.

Land of the Morning Calm

2010-07-21T16:44:00.000-04:00

These are landscapes that were shot in Korea about 2~3 years ago. My grandmother's home is in Jangsung, South Korea and it's so misty there that it feels like I'm walking into a sauna every time I go there. I haven't gone to Korea in 2 years, but next time I go, I'm going to make more of an effort to shoot natural locations like this.

Around Town

2010-07-17T17:01:00.000-04:00

Sometimes I see people around me that have been to Europe and waxing on and on about their adventures and the awesome pictures that they took and I wonder why I'm stuck here for the whole summer. Then again, being stuck here has resulted in the best lazy summer I could hope for. In just a few weeks; I'll have to man up again and prepare for the upcoming school year. Time travels too fast.

Remix

And here's the original image I didn't post before:

Original:

Way back in May; I did a photoshoot with my friends: here. I solarized all the images and messed with the colors so they all look a bit funny and eccentric

In these next set of photos I tried something different.

I applied an effect called "oil paint" on one of the programs I used.

Here's the original:

Fire

2010-07-07T05:00:00.000-04:00

These were shot at Bishop Park on the fourth of July. The fireworks only lasted for about 15 minutes and before our party got there the crowds were horrendous and getting out of traffic almost drained all the gas in our car. The only consolation were these pictures I got and consequently edited of the fireworks.

Just Daily Life

2010-07-05T15:57:00.000-04:00

Other than lazing around, my life has gotten incredibly complacent. I'm scared of the rapidly approaching school year.

The Sea

2010-07-02T21:25:00.000-04:00

I'm trying a new format of blogging where I don't write anything until the end of the post. Most of these pictures were taken at Jekyll Island beach, or Busan in South Korea. I did not do much to the pictures except increase the contrast, brightness etc. I've been wondering whether or not anyone even reads this blog or looks at this blog purely for picture content. I'm fine with that, but a comment every now and then wouldn't hurt! I've also been wondering how I can network my blog better and get a wider audience.

I started by posting pictures on facebook but turned to blogger to get a wider platform to post my work. Please~ if you see this post please try to give a little feedback!

Graves

2010-06-23T22:38:00.000-04:00

Graveyards; are of course, places of rest for the deceased. One evening my friend and I decided to head out to a graveyard in the countryside. There was no one there and it was perfect for taking pictures of the gravestones. What made it even greater was that it was twilight (no pun intended), the perfect atmosphere for the photos.

We decided not to tread too much, and we ended up leaving when another car came in. I recently had someone in my family pass away and once we left the site, I remembered that we decided to scatter that relative's ashes to the wind; so that she may be all around us. I know that burial rituals and such are different for every family and religion. I can respect why someone would want their loved one buried, to become part of the earth, as opposed to scattered to the winds.

Not really a picture of the graves, but there was a really neat sunset as we were driving up.

Increased the contrast for dramatic effect. Not so realistic, however.

There were tons of graves of freemasons and their symbols.

I decided to just go natural with this one.

I used this effect called solarize and just increased the contrast and saturation.

This is one of the symbols of the freemasons.

An interesting angel. Increased contrast.

This is such a touching inscription

Ordinary Life

2010-06-18T17:38:00.000-04:00

This is simply a post showing my ordinary experiences.Often the most overlooked things in my life are the things most worth photographing. Even though I don't take that many pictures of people, I like to take pictures of my surroundings just for documentation or sentimental purposes. Taking pictures of things I see everyday can get a bit boring but that doesn't diminish the meaning they have.

These are mating fireflies, they didn't even move for 2 hours! Used flash, no edits made.

You might guess as to what this is, but it's tissue! I changed the color into a subtle dark green

This is a view from inside my church. I negative-ed the image and made the sky a stormy blue.

This is a view from my church parking lot. No edits made

This is my friend's cat, Gooby. He's the sweetest guy I will ever meet.

This is just an artwork I did a year ago.

The trees are always there

2010-06-15T22:43:00.000-04:00

Trees are immobile organisms and we always seem to think that they are a permanent part of our backyards, parks, beaches etc. I also understand that they get to be boring to look at after a while but trees always make the most interesting outlines against the sky.

I added a slight brown tint to the sky and increased the contrast

I played with the colors in this one and made the sky appear as if it was burning.

This piece of wood made an interesting shadow against the sand of the beach.

Snow made a rare appearance here in Georgia

I loved the ripples in the water at a pond. I added a monochrome dark red tint to the whole picture.
