So, a friend of mine has been really inspiring me to write and draw more. She really wants to do more art and I want to encourage her to do some good stuff. I just signed up for this site, hitRECord. I've known about it for a long time but haven't been so completely interested in it until now. I've reposted some work on there that I wrote on here, so let's hope it gets some traction over there. I really actually hope that Spiders!!! gets an animation of some kind.

The Dark Knight falls?

Okay people, this is the movie that everyone was hoping for. I wasn't. From what I could see from the trailers the movie looked like it was going to be okay, but not that great, and I was right.

Clearly diminished from the first 2 of Nolan's incarnations of Batman movies, the third movie has a lot of faults, but I'll put up my top 3.

Fault 1: Bruce Wayne gave up his cowl? In what universe would the Batman ever quit fighting? Especially given the reason he stopped was because of the death of his unrequited love Rachel Dawes. That wouldn't keep old bats down, if anything it would spur him on and think it crushed my spirit a little to see that happen to him.

Fault 2: The plot. It actually reminded me of Die Hard: With a Vengeance only not as good. It meanders and sways and the timing and structure are there for fleeting seconds to remind you that it has to go somewhere else and it will be back later to explain what just happened, it promises.

Fault 3: The acting, or directing? Listen, we all know these people can act, we all love them, but it felt like after the first couple of takes, Nolan says "Ehh, good enough." Christian Bale's performance felt really lacking like he was just reading them out. In fact, almost all of the characters from the other movies just felt stale like their hearts weren't in it. The new actors all were pretty solid though, which at least made it bearable to watch.

Now that I've listed my thoughts of the worst aspects of the film, here are couple I thought were the best.

Like 1: The twist. Not going to spoil anything, but there is a reason why I brought up Die Hard: With a Vengeance and it isn't because of all the dump trucks.

Like 2: The fresh blood. Even though they didn't have a lot of character or back story to go on, at least they were trying. Anne Hathaway was pretty darn good as Selena Kyle. I say Selena because no one in the film calls her Catwoman, ever. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, I mean come on, how could you not love this guy. I for one want to be his best friend. He is really the thing that holds this film together, the stop gap in the plot holes if you will. Tom Hardy as Bane was good, the character he played was not. Marion Cotillard, is really good in her role as well, even if the role she plays is somewhat limiting.

Like 3: The feel. Now this is a double edged sword for me. As I've stated in the faults, the plot is, for lack of a better word, stupid. But I could see where the writer was trying to go with it, even if he ultimately failed. It reminded me of my personal favorite arc of Batman: No Mans Land. I say it reminds me of it, not that it has anything to do with it at all. But you really should read it, it's so good. Unlike this movie.

Now, people who aren't such avid fans of Batman will probably enjoy this movie, I enjoyed this movie. It just didn't give me that sense of awesome that the first 2 gave me. It's a good movie, but with poor execution by someone who looks like they weren't really trying.

I give it, 7/10. I'd like to know if anyone agrees or disagrees in the comments below.

At least it's better than Schumacher.

Yeah, I'm not telling anyone about this, mainly because I posted this way too late, but also because I don't want to spoil anything.

Just see it, it's good. Really good.

Except for the ending, that could have been better.

So I thought I should share a few television shows I like, some that ended, some that are not.

1. Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory is currently one of the great comedies shredding the charts, and not without reason. It's a show that almost everyone can enjoy, though you get the most out of it if you understand the references. The big thing BBT does for me is show a true portrayal of a geek or nerd, and in a good light.

2. Community

I have written about Community on here before but I just wanted to reiterate. Community is great. It's that plain and simple. Unfortunately with all the ups and downs this last season has had, and the creator being fired, it looks like next season will be it's last.

3. Wilfred

Wilfred is such a unique comedy that it's hard to explain it to someone who hasn't seen it. It's about this man Ryan, who sees a man in a dog costume where everyone else sees a dog. Hilarity ensues.

4. Fringe

It's last season is going to be it's last. That was a harsh blow, but at least it will get it's chance to wrap everything up. Fringe is like X-Files, but instead of aliens you have mad scientists, people from the future, and alternate universes. It will be missed.

5. West Wing

I know this one came out of left field. It did for me too as I've only recently gotten into it. I was too young to find it interesting when it was on originally but now I can't get enough of the show. It really is good, to me it's all about the dialogue. Good dialogue, good show. Great dialogue, epic show.

6. Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Again, it's about the dialogue, and when it comes to words, Whedon is king. The snarky look at horror, and the ability to whip out classic one liners is a skill that only a Whedon show can encapsulate so well. And, since I don't want to write about all his shows, though great they are, I'll just list them here. Buffy, Angel, Firefly, and Dollhouse. Watch them, love them, hate them, and then love them again. It's a vicious circle.

7. Castle

Okay, so I like this for Fillion. It's like Bones, but only the first couple of season's because try as like to like Bones again after the first 2 seasons, I just can't get into it. Castle is just a really well done show, and one of the only ones I watch on ABC that I watch when it's on.

I am Alive digital download review

I am Alive has gotten a lot of mixed reviews, so I thought I'd throw my hat in. Basically when it comes to it, it's 7.5/10. It's better than average, better than a lot of digital games out there. Not perfect by any means but it's awesome all the same. A lot of reviews nit pick the repetitive nature of your encounters. Well that is both true and not true. It just depends on how you play it. One of the best parts of the game is when your on a boat and I'm not going to spoil it but it changes how you handle encounters. This game is at least worth downloading the demo.

Mass Effect 3, an honest Review

Seriously, everyone, Mass Effect 3 isn't as great as the reviewers claim. Sure it has awesome cinematics, and a nice final story, but graphically it's about the same as 2 years ago.
Also the Normandy isn't as awesome as ME2, it feels smaller and less integral to the plot. About the plot, sometimes it feels like it is on rails, especially about the primary missions. I don't feel like I'm actually deciding anything, just pushing a random thing to say that comes to the same conclusion as the other choice.

The scanning has also been dumbed down. So much so that most planets you see you can do next to nothing with but look at the pretty planet. The ones you can scan all you have to do is find a flashing white dot on the planet once. It no longer feels like a mini game to find precious resources, it feels like a mini game for children.

And now the worst gripe I have with this game, by far the most annoying, is the discs themselves. You have to switch the discs (it's a 2 disc game) out more than once, more than twice, more than god knows how many times I've switched out the discs. It isn't just annoying, it takes away from the experience and seriousness of the game itself.

Now I know some of you will complain saying how this game was awesome, and how dare he foul this games good name. I'm not disagreeing with you. This game is really good, but is it as good as all the reviewers say it is? No, it isn't. I'm giving this game an 8.5. After all is said and done that is what it deserves.

God I am so excited for this movie, so so so so so excited. It hurts to have to wait until May for it to come out. And I know, it probably won't be as good as the hype made it out to be, but I can always hope right?

The type of stuff I want to write

Nightworld: Nightworld is a book series that I've had in my head for close to a decade. Something I've been evolving in my head and playing around with. I plan on it being 4 books with each book being about 400-500 pages long.

Zombies vs Robots vs Aliens: in ZRA it's like rock paper scissors in which robots crush zombies aliens disassemble robots and zombies eat aliens.

DrX: a childrens story about an evil boy genius who wants to rule the world. I liken it to Dexter's Laboratory mixed with Dr. Frankenstein.

I like fantasy writing. Humor in writing is important. That is all I wanted to say.

The long lost Skyrim review

Now, let us look back on the month of November where things were a lot more simple. Where Elder Scrolls Skyrim invaded the hearts and homes of people around the world. I was no exception. I found it every bit as exhilarating as they promised. Everything was great. No bad action or graphics. Now some people claimed it to be floaty action, I both agree and disagree. I agree it was floaty but I think we are all spoiled with the rumblepaks in our controllers that some of us let it deter them away from the game simply because they didn't feel the rumble when their blades hit something.

An in-depth review of Skyrim so I do not need to do it myself. There is nothing I can say that hasn't been said by 1000 leaderboards. So I'll just say this, go play it. It's awesome and deserving of peoples love not nitpicking.

Fallout got even cooler

Saints Row 3 vs Assassins Creed Revelations

Oh geez, these two games are coming out on the same day, which should I get first, which should i play first?
They are completely different games, but personally I'm looking forward to Saints Row 3. ACR's trailers have shown a lot of cool action but little else. Like where's the great storyline we've all come to love from AC? And where is Desmond? SR3's trailers have also shown a lot of action with little substance, but that's what you want from a game like that, all of that zany customizations, but decide for yourselves

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, 4 days (rounding down)!!!

This is it. The home stretch. The last mile. One more week until Skyrim. God I need to play this game, I need it in my soul. To tell you the truth I couldn't give two squirts about Modern Warfare 3, maybe because I'm not fan of being called a fagot in my ear by a ten who doesn't even know what that word means. I'm not a fan of multiplayer, and MW3 singleplayer's plot is so f@#$in convoluted that I have no clue what is going on.

But Skyrim, glorious Skyrim, it can not come soon enough, goodbye Fallout 3 being my favorite game, make way for Elder Scrolls V.

It can not get here fast enough for my tastes.

RAGE!!! not that good, extremely short

Dark Souls.... it will eat your soul. It is so good, but a little too long.

Batman Arkham City, alot of people are saying this is this best game of the year, and I'd agree with them, if it was a little longer and had more catwoman missions

Uncharted 3, almost, so close, kinda sorta awesome. it just didn't have the punch you'd come to expect, the plot was good in the beginning, ok in the middle, and just fell apart at the end. Mix that with some decent gameplay and i'd still rather be playing batman.

Dead Island Review+Resistance 3

IGN's review is pretty much self explanatory except I found the glitches to be insufferable and playing it solo had to cheat once or twice. There is no way to get Ope to the burial site alive playing alone!!! He just jumps right into the fray and dies in 10 seconds... EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! But enjoy a special extra treat of resistance 3 review below. I did not find it as entertaining as the reviewer, but I haven't had time to beat it yet so who knows

D&D, the devils market.

I've recently started playing old school role playing games like D&D. Now I loved the game, all the little things you could do and the only limit was the limit of your imagination. So I scoured around for some local weekly gaming, and I found it. You know the stereotypes of nerds playing D&D? They're not stereotypes in this place. It was a little annoying to see nerds in this day and looking like that. Have they never heard of geek chic?

There were the kid nerds, all gangly pimple faced with braces. There was the fat guys, with greasy unwashed hair, and other unwashed regions. Seriously, what are nerds aversion taking showers? There was this guy around 30 who was bald, and albino, but he was cool. The guy with eczema on his legs that he couldn't stop scratching, they were so big they looked like spider eggs growing inside him. Then there was the guy with nose hairs so long, you found your eyes just drift to them unconsciously.

Of course that's all par for the course when you search for a nerds sanctum, but please if any nerd reads this, shower at least once a day, and wash your hair. No one likes greasy looking hair, gross.

There were a couple cool looking dudes there, those are the ones with the horrible personalities and no real social cues. They were the terrible trolls and I had no nasty knife to slay them with.

Okay, so I thought it would go better, so I thought they would get my nerdy pop culturesque Doctor Whovian type jokes, turns out, a lot of D&D people are obsessed with only one thing, D&D. I've met people who love D&D but also like other nerdy things, these guys were D&D and Magic the Gathering only, it was sort of sad and pathetic really.

I still love D&D, but I also have a life outside of it, so I ain't going back to that parlor anytime soon. Also they weren't really friendly to outsiders, and a lot of them didn't seem to understand sarcasm. The shower thing wasn't sarcasm fyi they really need it. p.s. Eat something before you get there, no one wants to see you eating cold chicken from your fridge and drinking 2 litre bottle of soda right out of the bottle. Two words: BACK WASH.

Deus Ex: HR Review plus Let's Kill Hitler

Been a while since I've posted anything but I just felt like posting something anything. A few markers for todays posting, Deus Ex: Human Revolution came out this week and here is the review of it.

And next but certainly not least, the mid season premiere of Doctor Who's episode "Let's kill Hitler".

A great episode, but I feel like Doctor Who is getting more serious, like it's straining to smile through all the sad. Though that's not anything new for Doctor Who, it does feel different.

Ghost Story....

Oooooh am I so excited that Ghost Story is coming out in less than a week. For those of you who do not know, I'm a complete Harry Dresden nut, and I am so looking forward to this. Drumroll, I am going to Kansas City on Tuesday to do a meet and greet with author Jim Butcher! That's right, the prophetic creator of our favorite supernatural Chicago P.I. is going to be with me (and a few others) the day of his book release. I seriously almost cannot wait.

Shin Chan, the Pooing

Video Game Edition the second

Buh bum bbuuummmmm. That's right Amusingers and Anecdoteists. More video game extravaganza!!!

First up, an oldy but a goody, it's Saints Row! More precisely Saints Row 3 which just looks spectacular. Saints Row is most noted as being a sort of parody of Grand Theft Auto, at least at first. The developers must have only seen the parody bit because Saints Row 2 really came into it's own. Excited to see this one come out.

Next up, Prey 2. For the few people who have played the original and wanted a sequel for a long time, well you got it, it just might not be the sequel you're looking for. Don't get me wrong, I like the look of Prey 2, sort of Blade Runner meets I don't know what, but it's a big departure from the first game. I'm still real hopeful though that this game will be great.

Darksiders 2, don't know about this one. The first one wasn't that great, a mix of God of War and Legend of Zelda should be awesome right? It was okay, but a renter not a buyer, and it looks like it's the same with the sequel.

Last sequel, though it kind of isn't. Dark Souls is supposed to be the spiritual successor to Demons Souls, a personal favorite of mine. And I can't wait to die 1000 times again in this game, getting really frustrated and throwing the controller down.

Last but certainly not least is Dead Island, the only non sequel game on the list. I was about to say original but zombie games has been done to death, pardon the pun. They do put an interesting twist though in that it's an open world RPG, in which you can upgrade your weapons, search the island for survivors and take missions you want to take, kinda like Fallout 3, or Borderlands. Still I am a sucker for all zombie stuff, I even have a plan for the zombie apocalypse, so I can not wait for this game to come out. It was supposed to come out this summer but got moved back to September which frustrates me. Speaking of which.....

So I lied about Dead Island being the last one, but I'm sure everyone has heard of this game by now anyway. The Last Guardian. A game that not only refuses to come out, but refuses to even put a release date out there to get our hopes up. She's playing hard to get this one, but I want it bad. I cheated in the order of the games and played Shadow of Colossus first before Ico. But they're so good and I really want to find out the mystery behind The Last Guardian even though I know I won't even when I beat the game because that is how Fumito Ueda's games are.

Video Game Edition part 1 and a 1/2

Sup3r excited for this game! I got the first Darkness in a cheap bin, so I wasn't expecting much, but I loved it. And I will love the sequel when it comes out as well.

Another indie fav of mine is getting made into a sequel, Metro 2033 was a great dark shooter/survival game. So when the sequel Metro: Last Light was announced I squealed like a little girl.

Mass Effect 3, somehow I am just not as excited for this as I was for ME2. It looks, nice, but it couldn't possibly top the second one without like blowing up the Earth. Which, from what I've heard, they might blow up the Earth.

Last sequel of the day, Assassins Creed Revelations, looks awesome. They need to answer the big questions, but not all of the questions, or else there won't be cool enough things to answer for Assassins Creed 3.
