Gallery Art Vista hosted the iiiD Knowledge Series on 24th Aug.evening. It was a well attended evening. iiiD President-Thane chapter Suchit Gadkari opened the evening with his introduction of 'Knowledge Series' and about iiiD endeavors in recent times. The evening later saw a presentation by Swaroop Biswas on the objectives and enterprise of S&S-Art, Design & Education. Later in the evening the members also experienced a Terracotta workshop conducted by Manjusha Bagal and also indulged in it with great enthusiasm. S&S is committed towards sharing, supporting and creating an enterprise around Art, Design and Education. We received very positive feedback for the event and were able to create very positive environment for thought sharing.

Black & white the sound itself evokes stark imagery in the mind. The absence of color creates a very different visual experience from our extremely colorful world.

Gallery Art Vista presents a group show titled ‘Black’ featuring four artists of known caliber and very different styles following the same palette. Curators Sharmilaa Iyer and Swaroop Biswas visualized the combination as dramatic and it has turned out nothing less. Swaroop being one of the participants has been working in this genre for a while. The Artists with very different backgrounds & styles coming together under one palette with diverse subjects bring to life their own worldview to the fore.

Speaking of the group we must start with Prof. Kashinath Salve. Being the eldest in the group and with a mountain of experience behind him Prof. Salve is no stranger to the Black & white genre. Ketan, a J.J College of Arts alumni brings his expressions through textures. Parag Tandel, A MSU Baroda alumni is a new generation mix media artist with excellent exposure in different materials. He brings some fresh perspective to this show too. Swaroop being the co-curator of the show wears two hats here. His masks wearing strong lines become his protagonists on paper & canvas. Incidentally it was Prof. Salve who inspired Swaroop to work in Black & white. All four seem to complement each other even after being so different. You are welcome to witness this one a kind exhibition in Thane and experience the expressions.

I have my latest works on display in this solo exhibition. I had a solo in thane 4 years back in Kala Bhavan so I guess it was a right time for a solo in this culturally rich satellite city of Mumbai. The show is curated by Sharmilaa Iyer. The opening was quite well attended. Press was good. Looking forward to a good run.

My solo titled ‘Different Dimensions’ opened on 21^st Feb, 2013 at Hyatt Regency, Pune. The exhibition was presented by Art2Day & Hyatt Regency. The show was inaugurated by Pratap Jadav(Eminent Architect, President Elect-IIID & Secretary General, APSDA), Sunil Patil(MD, Regius Life Spaces pvt. ltd.), Vaibhavi Patil and Anju Sinha (Publisher-Kala Dirgha).

Innocence & nature either can’t be created or controlled. As a newborn we get innocence in abundance & a natural love for nature. Only later when we start learning the laws of demand & supply, or the idea of possession dawns upon us and most of us get obsessed with owning as much as we can. And this race doesn’t stop until we drop dead. We pass on this contagious disease called ownership or possession to our next generation and them to their next. This chain never stops. We all know we are not here forever but still we believe and live our entire lives trying to own something. With this work I celebrate the nakedness of the junk. I have used their negative aspects as my positives. I have just used pastels and no other form of color and have kept the basic texture and color of the junk. Through this work I celebrate the nature and innocence around us and hope that my viewers also connect with it. Nature always finds a way; it’s us whose survival is at stake. After all we don’t control nature; it’s the other way round.
