Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco graced the 84th Academy Awards ceremony with their presence tonight. Just a few moments ago they stop to speak with ABC’s News Correspondent Robin Roberts. Albert expressed his happiness of being there as it is his first Oscar attendance.

Albert and Charlene are guests of Robert Iger, Disney’s president and chief executive.

Grace Kelly, Prince Albert’s mother, won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1955 for Country Girl.

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden announced his granddaughter’s names today. The little princess was bestowed the names Estelle Silvia Ewa Mary. She was also granted the title Duchess of Östergötland.

BREAKING NEWS: Prince Friso’s Medical Condition Released

Last Friday, Queen Beatrix’s son Prince Friso was seriously injured in an avalanche whilst skiing in Lech.

Below is the medical statement released today by Dr. Wolfgang Koller, the head of the physicians’ team treating Prince Friso’s health condition at the Landeskrankenhaus in Innsbruck.

Prince Friso was brought to Innsbruck university hospital by rescue helicopter at about 14:00 on 17 February, after being buried by an avalanche in Lech. He was covered for approximately 25 minutes. At the hospital, after receiving initial treatment in the reanimation unit, he was taken straight to the intensive care trauma unit. This unit specialises in treating the most seriously injured avalanche patients with the utmost medical and technical expertise. The unit's head is Dr Wolfgang Koller.

Our unit was notified of the patient's imminent arrival and we were able to prepare everything in advance. Prince Friso was brought to the hospital under reanimation conditions. Due to the length of time he was covered under the snow, his brain had been deprived of oxygen. The result was cardiac arrest, which lasted approximately 50 minutes. The patient had to be reanimated during this entire period. Fifty minutes is a very long time. One could say, too long. We hoped that the patient's mild hypothermic state had sufficiently protected the brain against excessive damage. Unfortunately, our hope was in vain. Since last Friday, a team of specialists has been fighting to save Prince Friso's life. Yesterday, a first MRI-scan was possible, without bringing the patient into danger. Since this examination and the latest neurological tests yesterday evening it is clear that the oxygen deprivation has caused extensive damage to the patient's brain. At present it is not certain whether he will ever regain consciousness. In any event, rehabilitation will take months, if not years. Prince Friso's family will now look for an appropriate rehabilitation facility.

BREAKING NEWS: Crown Princess Victoria Gives Birth To A Daughter

The Swedish Royal Court website announced today the birth of a daughter to Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Prince Daniel.

The baby weighed 3280 grams (7.23 lbs.) and her length was 51 cm (20 in.) Victoria delivered the little princess at Karolinska Hospital in Solna.

The Office of the Marshal of the Realm is delighted to announce that H.R.H Crown Princess Victoria gave birth to a daughter on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 04.26 am.

Friso’s Condition Unchanged

Prince Friso’s health condition remains unchanged. He is stable, but not out of danger. His medical prognosis will not be released until the end of the week.

On the Het Koninklijk Huis website, the Dutch Royal Family expressed their appreciation for the sympathy and support after Friso’s accident. The family said it has helped them through this difficult time.

Emperor Akihito Undergoes Heart Surgery

Emperor Akihito of Japan underwent heart surgery today at the University of Tokyo Hospital. According to his attending physicians, the emperor’s coronary artery bypass surgery was a success.

Akihito was admitted to the hospital on Friday after having a coronary angiography by arterial catheter procedure done on February 11th.

In the meantime, Crown Prince Naruhito will be delegated matters of state as his father recovers from heart surgery.

The Imperial Household Agency announced that a visitor’s book for Emperor Akihito will be open during his stay in the hospital starting from February 17th between the hours of 10 am to 4 pm at the Sakashita-mon Gate, Imperial Palace, Tokyo. The IHA will not accept sympathy gifts and flowers.

Prince Friso Hospitalized In Innsbruck

Prince Friso was seriously injured in an avalanche yesterday whilst on holiday in Lech, Austria. He is in an intensive care unit at a hospital in Innsbruck. His treating physicians have reported that his condition is stable, but not completely out of danger. Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and his wife Princess Mabel are at his side.

Forty-three year old Friso is the second son of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and the father of two daughters.

The veil was anchored by the Princess Andrew of Greece meander tiara. The tiara was given to Princess Anne by Queen Elizabeth II around 1972. Zara also wore Jimmy Choo shoes and borrowed her mother’s diamond pendant earrings.

Captain Mark Phillips escorted his daughter into the church whilst the Reverend Neil Gardner presided over the ceremony. Zara Phillips is the second grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II.

The bride wore an off-white silk duchesse Giorgio Armani Privé wedding dress with an off-white silk tulle veil. Her wedding bouquet consisted of freesias, dendrobium orchids and lilies of the valley. Albert dressed in the summer uniform of the Palace Guards. The couple exchanged 18 carat white gold platinum wedding bands designed by Cartier.
