My husband and I always sent at least two boxes of package a year to my family in the Philippines. We usually sent clothes, shoes, kitchen gadgets, chocolates, health and beauty products and etc. Some of these stuff are used but they are still in good condition. According to one of my sisters, they loved opening the boxes that we sent to them although they did not use or don't like all the stuff that were in the box. I told them that if they don't have any uses of those stuff, they should give it to the neighbors or to the people who have any use for it. That way they will not gather up those unused things and filed it up in the house.

We're due of sending our first box to the Philippines for this year. I already gathered up many things. I still need some few things that I want to be in the box before I sealed it and send it to my family. All the people that I know that do not own a house yet and are still living in an apartment or at their in-laws are dreaming of owning the house that they can call their own. Entertain Guests With Outdoor Patio Heaters

A group of Filipinos that used to live in the same small city where I grew up in the Philippines has an annual Christmas Party event. We try to celebrate it at different Filipino households here in Southern California. The last event my husband and I went to was quite far, near Lake Elsinore. One of the people that spearheaded the event asked me if we can hold the next Christmas party at our house. Unfortunately, we don't own a big house and having more than 30 guests would be too many in our very small living room because I am sure the guests wouldn't want to be outside when it's cold in December.

We like having guests over at our house even though we're not very good at cooking but somehow we are always able to manage having people over during the warmer months. The annual event that I just mentioned with my fellow Filipinos would not be a problem even if it's during winter time as long as we have outdoor patio heaters. The guests will surely would not mind being in our attractive garden or on our deck or roof top as long as there are nearby heaters that will keep them warm. Actually this has been our plan to buy outdoor patio heaters for many years now. My husband come up this idea when we went on a vacation in Colorado during the end of winter two or three years ago and we saw people eating comfortably outside this nice restaurant. We were wondering how they able to manage the cold weather. Our curiosity was being answered when we saw at least five outdoor patio heaters throughout the front of this restaurant where people were eating and a fire pit at the middle of the crowd. In fact, there were more people eating outside this restaurant than inside.

Having patio heaters at home would be wonderful especially because we love having a barbecue and relaxing on our deck when my husband and I are not working. Whether we are barbecuing or just relaxing outside we really like being on our deck. We have not been doing this very often during colder seasons because of the cold weather and therefore having to wear heavy clothing and surely not as inviting for guests over. But if we have outdoor patio heaters we will not only be enjoying our deck more often but we would be able to comfortably host the Christmas party for our Filipino friends that we have always wanted to do for many years now.

For my son’s 7th birthday, we are having a Poke’mon birthday party. He is inviting his entire class of 20 students. For the invitations, we made cute “poke’” balls out of construction paper. I ordered little poke’mon figures for the cake, and everyone will get a pack of cards as a “goodie bag.” When the kids get here, we will start with “pin the flame on Charmander,” followed by a hot potato style game with a stuffed picachu. Then we will play poke’mon bingo, and eat cake. After we pass out their card packs, I’m sure the kids will want to open them and trade with each other right away. I’m going to look on cabletvadvisor.com to see if I can find a time and channel of an actual episode on television. If it lines up right, that would be a nice way to end the party while we are waiting for parents to come pick up their kids. I think it is going to be a great party, and one the kids will always remember.

We got Chicago T1 at my office not too long ago and I can’t tell you how much easier it’s made things. I can’t believe how much nicer it is to work when there are better technologies in place – it was so frustrating always having the internet going out and whether or not the phones were going to be active. I can’t believe my boss is so old school when it comes to stuff but it’s nice for me to be able to talk to him about my recommendations for the office and actually feel like I’m being listened to. I can’t believe how much technology changes everything and how crucial it is to be up on it when there are so many different options – knowing how to fax and whether or not you should reply all and things like that. My office is a great place to work and it’s nice for me to work in an office where I feel like I’m appreciated. There are ways for me to make my mark here!

They're not Sharks, they're Surfers!

When I was about five months here in the US, my husband wants to take me to many places as much as possible before I will find a job and will no longer have the opportunity to see many wonderful places without having to rush to see it because I have to go back to work.

We went to La Jolla, San Diego to visit a friend but since we arrived there an hour early, my husband took me to a nearby place that overlook the ocean. As soon I turn my head to see the ocean, I was shocked because I thought I saw many, many sharks. I immediately told my husband what I saw and he was laughing out loud. He told me that they're not sharks, they were surfers. But because they were too far away and their wetsuits were mostly black or dark blue that's why they look like sharks from a distance. I asked my husband why a surfer has to wear wetsuit, he told me to keep them warm while they're in the water waiting for the waves.

After that hilarious incident, we went to the small shops just a block away to look around and we may find something for ourselves or for our dear four-legged friend who was waiting for us at home. Guess what we ended up buying? A ball thrower for Bones. It was a fantastic day!

Cherries are one of my favorite fruits. I like it when it's still a little bit hard because it's crunchy. But this fruits come with a price. I am just glad that most of the time my husband will always grant my request when I asked him to buy me Cherries.

Cherry is small, fleshy round stone fruit that is typically bright or dark red in color. These fruits are rich in vitamins, nutrients and minerals. But actually that's not the reason why I love Cherries, I just love the taste.

My husband surprised me last christmas this Cuisinart Compact Deep Fryer. I never thought that he would buy it for me because I've been telling him for more than a year now but he will always denied my request. He said it is not good for me to have especially I am prone to having acne.

I already used this deep fryer for three times now. It is really very convenient to have especially to a busy woman like me. I know it is not good to always eat fry foods not only because of my skin issues but it is very unhealthy. I will try my best to just used this deep fryer maybe once in every two weeks. My husband bought this cart as a christmas present to my father. He thinks that my father could use this cart when he wants to transport anything that is 150 pounds or lesser. He can use it when he works to move sacks of cement rather than carrying it himself which he did for many, many years. It extends to over 39 inches height and folds flat for easy storage. It is lightweight makes it perfect for traveling as well.

Rugs are an elegant decoration for any room in our house

It has been a while since we're looking for a rug for our recreation room. We still can't decide what color that will look the best in that room. Shopping for a rug was very stressful because we already did that for a couple of times and yet we still can't find the one that we like. We don't want to end up spending any amount of money like the rug that we bought almost a year ago for our living room and the quality was really poor. At first glance you won't be able to notice it but after few weeks of having it in our house, that's were we noticed how poorly it was made.

Many companies that sell their products online has a very competitive prices and good return policy, that is why many people like us who are not fond of going to a very crowded stores prefer to shop online rather than in-line. I find it very convenient to do the shopping in the comfort of my own home without having to beat the crowd.

TVee model 25 sound system

When I first moved into my husband's house he already had a complete surround sound system set up in our recreation room. He changed a few of the devices like purchasing blu-ray player. In fact now he is considering buying a TVee Model 25 sound system when we have enough savings to replace our surround sound speakers because it seems they are no longer functioning very well. This audio system is a sound bar speaker and wireless subwoofer with virtual surround sound.

I love watching movies and my husband, on the other hand, likes watching documentaries, sports and travel programs. Grilled Pork Tenderloin and Peaches

I got this recipe from our friend when we went to their house for a dinner. She told us that she got the recipe also in one of the magazines which I can't remember the name. I made this recipe for few times now and I really like it. In fact last christmas when we invited my brother-in-law and his girlfriend in our house, we served them with this grilled pork tenderloin and peaches.

Note: Read the entire recipe before making it

Grilled Pork Tenderloin and Peaches

Ingredients:

3 tbsp. Canola oil

2 tbsp. fresh rosemary - finely chopped

Coarse Black Pepper

1 pork tenderloin

Kosher salt

Peach Glaze

Rosemary sprigs for garnish

Whisk the oil, rosemary and pepper together. Add meat - let sit covered 1 to 8 hours in refrigerator. Heat grill to high. Remove pork from refrigerator 20 minutes prior to grilling. Salt liberally.

Grill on all sides until golden brown and slightly charred, about 2 minutes each side. Brush with peach glaze, continue grilling until temperature reaches 145°F (in center of meat).

Remove to cutting board. Tent with foil for ten minutes. Slice into 1/2 inch thick pieces. Place on platter with peaches, add glaze.

Note: I used a ziplock bag instead of a container to store the pork tenderloin with the marinade because it is easier for me to let the marinade be on the pork all the time. I just turned the bag upside down for several times.

Peaches

Ingredients:

1 cup red wine vinegar

¼ cup water

½ cup clover honey

Salt and fresh pepper

3 slightly under ripe peaches, halved, pitted, sliced (or if peaches are not in season, I used a jar of peaches in syrup I bought from Trader Joe's)

Bring vinegar, water, honey, salt and pepper to simmer over medium heat. Add peaches, cook, stir until slightly soft, about five minutes.

Remove peaches. Continue cooking the liquid until slightly reduced, about 5 minutes. Transfer half the glaze to a small bowl to use for basting.

Three days ago, the retail store where I work introduced a new way to improve the services we offer to our customers by using an iPad. Besides the regular computers we have in the store, designated employees have the opportunity to carry around the iPad in a certain period of time a day to help customers whether just for a price check or if they want to order a product in our online store. This is still an undergoing test but I think this is a pretty cool idea. If this test will work out, the company will provide the store more iPads in the near future. This only means, we have to take care of it not only from people who may try to steal it but also protecting it from getting scratch or broken. Thus, ipad cases and covers are a must have if you own one of these greatest invention we have in our time.

For almost ten years working in a retail store, I know that companies are doing their best to ensure great service to their customers even during this difficult times we have at the moment. I am just glad that the company where I work right now is doing great and we still trying to keep improving our services to assure that our customers will leave in the store happy and satisfied. Having an iPad or iPads in our store is I think will enhance our customer service and will make our job much easier too.

Biko (Sweet Rice Cake)

My husband and I went to the Filipino store last Wednesday. As usual, I was so excited and grabbed my favorite foods like instant noodles, junk foods, string beans, tocino, fish ball, and the most I am excited to try was the frozen Biko (sweet rice cake) which was sitting in our freezer for more than two days only until I steamed it this afternoon.

I was taking the chance to grab the frozen Biko because I don't have any idea if it tastes good or not. But I was surprised because it was definitely delicious. Next time when we go to the Filipino store, I will surely will buy at least two boxes of this frozen Biko.

My husband did not notice that our car was licking out oil. The oil was on our driveway and it really bothers him. He tried to clean it with soapy water and a brush but after it dries the oil was still there. So we went to the store to buy a multi-purpose cleaner hoping that it will do a better job than soapy water. I was amazed how many choices we have. After reading the labels of different brands of cleaners we narrow our choices down to the degreasers, we finally decided which degreaser we think will do the job. We were satisfied with the result and even use the remaining degreaser to clean our stovetop after I fried my favorite chicken wings and fish. I am willing to try it on my clothes that have oil stains one of this day and I am willing also to pay the consequences if it will ruin my clothes, but I am hoping not.

Right now, we are on our second bottle using the degreaser. For a very affordable price, it was really a good buy. Sometimes, we just have not to be afraid to try products that are cheaper and not that well-known because in many instances these products could be the one you are looking for.

Green Beans

I can't exactly remember when we went to Armstrong Garden Center near where I live to buy flowers for our front yard and I decided to buy a green bean plant for one of our empty pot which was just setting in our backyard for more than a month.
