I waited and waited for the fiber fairy

(me Sister) to whispered to me on how should I spin this up.

I would have done one ply with both batts but I wanted to be able to ply it with something that had the same colors so it wouldn't get washed out. So I spun the first batt in a multi color random pattern. Then with the second batt I took it apart and spun all the green together the purple and so on.Then plyed away!
I love the fibers LeiLani use. They are so soft and easy to spin. I am hoping to knit up a head band for me to wear at work.

My Snail Hat

I knitted my first complected hat , Escargot, by Veronica Parsons.
My sister, Flyingpigknits was my support team via face-time to cheer me in when I wasn't sure if I would do this type of project.
I encourage all knitter of all levels to knit this hat up. It's a great little hat to have on hand for those chilly mornings.

Finally Finished Cowel

This is the first item I have made for myself to wear from spinning of fiber into yarn to knitting the garment which is a cowel.
It's "tall" enough to cover my neck and to go with any top I wear. It's been a life saver at work, for the break room is very cold.
I am very proud of being able to work on such a project which will be put to good use. The "snowflake" pin you see was my Gram's. I thought it brought just a touch of class to the cowel.

Party caplet/scarf

This hand knit stole is knit in colors that remind me of a birthday party, It has fun fur and is delightfully fuzzy and the added ribbon gives it a playful touch.
The buttons are bright pink and turquoise the camera does not do justice to the colors of this stole.
It can also be worn around the neck. It fits up to 46:-48" shoulder width.

The yarn in the first picture is for color reference only and is not included, nor was used to make this.

Where Camp Verde Llamas and Silver Sun Alpacas "Bollywood" Meet.

I used yarn I spun this summer during the Tour de Fleece and a sample I got in the Bollywood Box in Aug. The sample is from Silver Sun Alpacas and a wee bit of bamboo silk I got from somewhere else.
If you look at the bottom of the final plying picture you can see the "beginning" of the spinning and at the top where I got the "hang" of it finally. With the help of some spinners on Ravelry I took the change and put more than needed twist in it. For the Camp Verde Llama yarn has been on a bobbin since July (2011).
I like the overall outcome of the yarn and can't wait to set it and knit it! According to my calculator on the I pod app I have I have a total of 3,276 inches. Single Wrap of 36 and a # of wraps of 91. So maybe a start of a cowl?

Wine Country Phat Fiber Box for Nov.

It's madding when one waits for 10 am then again later in the day Chicago time one Saturday a month waiting for the buttons for fluff, mix and stitches to come up so it can be clicked and pop into the shopping cart to whisk it off to check out. Then there are buttons for the boxes that are sold out as soon as they pop up on the computer screen!
Then if you keep clicking away on one that you just know there are boxes that might not be claimed yet. 10 mins, 20 mins., 30mins later.....Yes!!!! I got a box. Phat fiber artist are so keen on this process there is even a thread on Ravlery to let everyone else know if they were able to get a box. And another to show the treasures that the post-person dropped at each of their homes. off after that faithful Saturday!
Why bother then? Check out the photos below and you will see why. I love the colors I got this month in roving, yarn and cute stitch markers.

This is my 200th entry since I started this blog in 2007.

Above was sent to me by my Knitting friend, Lei Lani of Heavenly Fiber in TX.

She was very sweet to mail it to me. It's to make some more hedgehogs for my shop. I am going to knit some for her grand kids as thank you gift.

These were my Birthday Present from my sister, Dagny of Jenny Pie Productions in PA.

For the non Sci-fi Nerds out there these are "Daleks" a sworn enemy of Doctor Who. I wear them every morning on my way to work and when I am finished with my shift. After a shift of massages they keep my hands and wrist warm and lessens the pain.

Finally I am working on a Dobby for my Jesse Bear. I finally have "skin" colored yarn thanks to the U.K. Company, Deramores, and the great bargain one gets when shopping for their fiber fix. I shall have a better pic of Dobby when he is finished.

With daily activities people tend to overuse and abuse the major muscle of their chest, Pectoralis Major. It is knitted out of toy yarn by King Cole Dolly Mix DK from the UK.

It measures 4.5 inches long and 2.5 inches tall.

Henry at 3.5 inches tall, loves to roaming around the garden smelling the lovely fragrance the rose give off at the break of day. He is looking for a garden to roam or just a friend who will take care of him.

His eyes, nose and smile were sewn on so there won’t be any small pieces for little ones of age 3 and up to choke on and can play with Henry. Henry is made of soft 100% acrylic yarn from King Cole “Dollymix DK” (UK). The back is made from fun yarn which is also acrylic. The stuffing is made from polyester fiber. I would only do surface wash it due to the stuffing.

This is Baby Blue. He was born of yarn on October 21, 2011.

He is only 3.5 inches long and has his blanket securely sewn all around him so it will never get lost. I didn’t place the button on the side so little ones of age 3 and up can play with him. This also would be a cute topper to a baby shower gift. If you don't like the blue blanket just send a message and tell me what color you would like. Also you can use it as a Mother's Day gift too.
The yarn is a soft 100% acrylic yarn by the makers of King Cole “Dollymix DK”. I would surface wash it only due to the stuffing inside which also made for dolls. This doll was inspired by Amalia Samios of kooklacreations.

I Tried My Best

This is for our Jesse Bear.

He wanted the Black King. I didn't have "nice" black yarn so I subbed in chocolate brown which matches his eyes. I tried about 5 times to make the crown part to put around the top and failed at that. The face fell flat to my standards but the kid loves it. I used the needles that came with this booklet. I should have stuck to my smaller needles and the face might have not been so oblong looking. Yet Jesse loves it and plays with it and I guess that what counts in the end.

Update Crochet Style

Crochet is not my first love but it works for projects that you want to complete at a quicken pace unless you are tackling a blanket. I finally got it working and now up on the orange part of my "All My Life Is A Circle" bag. So just onto building the "sides" hope to have it finished by Mid Nov. give or take other projects.

I ordered it on the 4th and it arrived today on the 12th. There wasn't any tax or S/H included. This is a great way for the knitter on a very tight budget to be able to keep on knitting. I started my first crochet project back in June for my longest knowing friend. I worked row after row after row. After 3 months it just sat and started at me. I would stare back at it and realized how ugly it was. I wouldn't use it and surly I wouldn't give it to someone. So last night with the help of my daughter we pulled it apart and wound up the yarn. At first I was going to be OCD about cutting apart each yarn to wind them up by each color then after the umpth row we just left the yarn "as is". Then when I started the bag I liked how it just went from one color to another with out it being to "rainbow" striped. My inspiration came from Attic24 with Lucy's beautiful photos of her bag. I was intimidated by the work until I found on Youtube at "movie" showing in real time how to crochet in the round by bethinintx1.
I used her "movies" to teach myself to crochet the granny square.
Now with with Lucy on one shoulder and Bethinintx1 on the other I was ready to try this new (to me) type of crocheting and accomplish my first project just using yarn and a hook.

This is how far I got last night (listening to) watching 3 Hawaii 5-0 on Netflixs.

I realized that the bag looked a little like the pillow from the rowan's ad on the back of a S.K. magazine. I went to look up to see if the pattern was free. Unfortunately it is not.

Second project I am working on is "My Bollywood Bag".
I was blessed in August to received a Phat Fiber Box from a wonderful Angel who lives in Texas. I took the sample yarns that cam in it and knitted up 4 different square/rectangles.
I then used from my stash a pink yarn to show case each sample. I hope to sew them together to make a front of a bag. the rest hasn't come to me yet in how it's going to be put together.

If anyone out there have any ideas please contact me with their ideas.

Finally I stumbled upon a new (to me) blog to do with knitting. I will put the link on my list. I found it on Lucy's Attic24 site. It's called "Do you mind if I knit" by Vanessa Cabban. Beautiful photos. Someday I would love to be able to take photos like her. Stop by and take a peak.

That is it for now. I hope to update twice a week now I have my work schedule under control.

Playing Catch up

August blew by so fast I wasn't sure if I was able to update this site. So Now on the second day of Sept. I thought I would play catch up and post a few photos of the projects I worked on.
I am starting my first sweater. I don't have a "photo" of it just yet but can't wait for it to take "shape".
I knitting a scarp that I used the wrapping the yarn around the needle from 2 - 8 times around the needle to make the spaces different on each row.
I graduated from Cortiva and knitted myself a graduation bunny as a present.
My youngest teacher loves to share nursery rhymes with the class so I knitting up "3 blind mice".
And a cozy for a cup for my store. I hope it sells:-)
