Bromagem Sets School Record at North Cental

The Anderson University men’s and women’s track and field team competed in the non-scoring North Central Invitational on Thursday and Friday in Naperville, Ill.

Sarah Bromagem led the Raven women with a seventh-place finish in the 800 meters in a time of 2:14.07, setting a new school record in the event.

Tony Johnson set a personal best time in the 100 meters with a third-place finish in 10.86.

Other AU men’s finishers were Brad McNeil in the 400 hurdles (14th, 56.92), Max Kittle in the 110 hurdles (18th, 15.66), Matt St. Amour in the 800 meters (39th, 1:58) and Eric Linn in the 1,500 meters (35th, 4:12).

Other Raven women finishers were Amanda Spear in the javelin (7th, 112-3), Candace DeLong in the 3,000 steeplechase (8th, 11:21.10) and Emily Radke in the discus (13th, 124-1).

Ravens Compete at North Central Track Meet

The Anderson University men’s and women’s track team had seven individuals compete at the North Central Invitational on Friday in Naperville, Ill.

Tony Johnson led the Ravens with a second-place finish in the 100 meters in a time of 10.96. That time was tied for his best this season.

Other AU men’s finishers were Max Kittle in the 110 hurdles (16th, 15.43) and 400 hurdles (30th, 58.10), Brad McNeil in the 110 hurdles (29th, 16.16) and 400 hurdles (23rd, 56.92), Matt St. Amour in the 800 meters (63rd, 1:58) and Eric Linn in the 1,500 meters (39th, 4:07).

Candace DeLong led the women with an eighth finish in the 3,000 steeplechase in 11:22. That is the second best time in school history.

Other AU women finishers were Sarah Bromagem in the 800 meters (18th, 2:16), Emily Radke in the discus (18th, 108-2) and Shantol McMahon in the discus (23rd, 79-4).

Wells 3rd at IU/Billy Hayes Track Invitational

Anderson University’s Leonard Wells finished third in the discus at the Billy Hayes Invitational on Saturday in Bloomington. The senior threw the discus 162-6 feet on Friday.

Emily Radke was seventh in the shot put (39-10 3/4) and 17th in the discus (125-7).

Shantol McMahon also competed at the meet in the shot put (12th, 33-8), discus (20th, 110-5) and the hammer throw (20th, 114-5).

AU women 2nd at HCAC Track Championships

The Anderson University women’s track and field team finished third at the 10-team Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Franklin College on Saturday.

Alex Friske won the 100 meter hurdles (13.59), 200 meters (27.32) and the 100 hurdles (15.94) and was named the Most Valuable Runner of the Meet for her performance.

Other winners for the Ravens were Candace DeLong in the 3,000 steeplechase (11:29.54), Emily Radke in the discus (124-5) and Amanda Spear in the javelin (114-0).

Sarah Bromagem finished second in the 800 meters (2:22.34) and 1,500 meters (4:59.93) and Radke was second in the shot put (39-9). DeLong was third in the 5,000 meters in a time of 19:00.43.

Friske, Radke Pace AU Women at Rose-Hulman

The Anderson University women’s track and field team finished sixth at the Rose-Hulman Twilight Invitational on Friday night in Terre Haute.

Alex Friske won the 100 hurdles in 15.13 and Emily Radke won the shot put with a toss of 39 5 3/4. Radke was second in the discus (120-3) and Friske was fourth in the 200 meters (26.74).

Other top five finishers for the Ravens were Sarah Bromagem in the 800 meters (4th, 2:17.56) and Amanda Spear in the javelin (4th,
102-8).

Washington won the meet with 185 points, followed by DePauw (117.5), Marian (90), Hanover (65), Greenville (51.5), Anderson (51), Franklin (51), Rose-Hulman (46), Principia (34) and Webster (28) in the top 10.

AU travels to Franklin next Friday and Saturday for the HCAC Championships.

AU Women Win Raven Easter Invitational

The Anderson University women’s track and field team won the four-team Raven Easter Invitational on Thursday at Macholtz Stadium.

The Ravens finished with 165 points, followed by Trine (149), Mt. St. Joseph (56) and Indiana East (45).

Emily Radke led the Ravens with a pair of victories in the meet in the discus (121-5) and hammer (118-2) and finished second in the shot put (39-5).

Other winners for AU were Alex Friske in the 100 meters (12.82), Sarah Bromagem in the 800 meters (5:01.65), Candace DeLong in the 5,000 meters (20:05.07), Destynne Moore in the pole vault (8-8 1/4), Amanda Spear in the javelin (113-3) and Marissa Goodwin in the long jump (14-8).

Wells, Radke win HCAC Weekly Track and Field Honors

Anderson University’s Leonard Wells and Emily Radke were named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, respectively, on Monday.

Wells the won three events for the Ravens at the Anderson Invitational. The senior thrower won the shot put (46’ .5”), discus (151’ 8”),and hammer throw (126’ 6”) at the meet, leading the Ravens to the team title.

Radke posted wins in the discus (119’ 0”), shot put (38’ 4.75”), and hammer throw (116’ 0”) as the women won the invitational.

AU hosts the Raven Invitational on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Women’s Track hosts AU Invitational Meet

The Anderson University women’s track and field team won the three-team AU Invitational at Macholtz Stadium on Saturday.

Candace DeLong set a new school record in the 3,000 steeplechase (11:17.90), breaking her old mark of 11:22.

AU won the meet with 134.5 points, followed by Thomas More (70) and Earlham (65.5).

“Our team gave a good effort today,” said AU coach Scott Wilson. “We trained well this week and then backed it up with good performances in a meet that should built confidence.”

Emily Radke led the Ravens with victories in the discus (119-0), shot put (38-4 3/4) and hammer (116-0).

Sarah Bromagem and Alex Friske each won two individual events. Bromagem took the 800 meters (2:25.24) and 1,500 meters (5:11.53) while Friske was victorious in the 100 hurdles (15.92) and 200 meters (27.13)

Other winners were Shantol McMahon in the javelin (68-5).

The 400 relay team of Friske, Marissa Goodwin, Shannon Grosenbacher and Mikyla Houston won in 54.00 as well as the 1,600 relay team of DeLong, Heather Quinlan, Nacole Hamilton and Alisha Sink in 4:20.64.

AU hosts the Raven Invitational on Thursday at 4 p.m.

AU women compete at Washington Invitational

The Anderson University women’s track and field team finished sixth at the Washington University Mini Meet on Saturday in St. Louis, Mo.

The Ravens got victories from Alex Friske in the 100 hurdles (15.42) and Emily Radke in the shot put (37-3 1/4).

Radke also finished fifth in the discus (106-5) and seventh in the hammer (100-6) while Friske was eighth in the 200 meters (27.60).

Other top five finishers for the Ravens were Candace DeLong in the 10,00 meters (39:47.64), Shantol McMahon in the shot put (30-8) and Heather Quinlan in the 800 meters (5th, 2:27.56).

Team scores – Washington 171.5, Wheaton 142, Truman State 133, Ohio Northern 133, Greenville 87, Anderson 55.5.

AU hosts their own invitational next Saturday at Macholtz Stadium at 11:30 a.m.

Ravens Compete at Non-Scoring North Central Meet

The Anderson University men’s and women’s track and field team competed at the North Central Invitational on Friday in Naperville, Ill.

Tony Johnson finished fourth in the 60 meters in 7.05 and Max Kittle was 10th in the 60 hurdles in a time of 8.62.

Other AU men’s finishers were Brad McNeil in the 400 meters (11th, 51.65), Eric Linn in the mile (24th, 4:38.46), Emby Duncan (30th, 16:39.69) and Matt St. Amour (31st, 16:41.43) in the 5,000 meters.

Sarah Bromagem finished seventh in the 800 meters in 2:20.41, which is sixth in school history and a personal best time. Alex Friske finished eighth in the 60 hurdles in a time of 9.14.

Candace DeLong finished 12th in the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:28.35, which is a personal best and eighth in school history.

AU women finish 3rd in Fred Wilt Indoor Invitational

The Anderson University women’s track and field team finished third in the 13-team Fred Wilt Memorial Indoor Invitational on Saturday at the Kardatzke Wellness Center.

Alex Friske was the lone winner for the Ravens. She won the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 9.33. She was also the runner-up in the 200 meters in 27.16. Her time in the hurdles ranks 31st in the nation.

Other runner-up finishes for the Ravens were Sarah Bromagem in the 800 meters (2:23.12), Candace DeLong in the mile (5:16.59), Emily Radke in the shot put (40-3 1/2) and the 1,600 relay team of Alisha Sink, Heather Quinlan, Bromagem and DeLong (4:18.12).

Radke’s distance in the shot put was a season-best and she ranks 57th in the nation. DeLong’s time was a personal best in the mile.

DePauw won the meet with 108 points, followed by Centre (70) and Anderson (61).

AU competes at the Washington University Invitational on Mar. 23 at 11 a.m.

AU women notch 4th place finish at HCAC Indoor meet

The Anderson University women’s track and field team finished fourth at the 10-team Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday in Terre Haute.

Alex Friske (middle picture) led the Ravens with a pair of victories in the meet. She won the 200 meters in a time of 27.07 and took the 60 hurdles in 9.15. Friske also set the HCAC record in the meet.

Candace DeLong (top picture) won the mile in 5:20.30 and was second in the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:44.40. Emily Radke (bottom picture) won the shot put (39-5) and was third in the weight throw (42-10).

Sarah Bromagem (2:24.02) and Heather Quinlan (2:29.75) were third and fifth, respectively, in the 800 meters and the 1,600 relay team was third (4:16.47).

Hanover won the meet with 129 points, followed by Rose-Hulman (128), Franklin (93), Anderson (84), Manchester (53), Defiance (42), Bluffton (40), Transylvania (27), Earlham (16) and Mt. St. Joseph (6).

Friske wins 60 meters at Raven Indoor Invitational

The Anderson University men’s track and field team competed in the five-team non-scoring Raven Indoor Invitational on Saturday at the Kardatzke Wellness Center.

Alex Friske was the lone individual winner, taking the 60 meter hurdles in 9.31.

Emily Radke had two runner-up finishes in the weight throw (39-9) and shot put (36-6). Other women that finished second were Sarah Bromagem (800 meters, 2:28.71), Heather Quinlan (1,000 meters, 3:15.36) and Candace DeLong (mile, 5:18.57).

Radke’s distance in the shot put is currently the best in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference this season. DeLong’s time in the mile is also the fastest in the conference in 2012.

AU runs in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships next Saturday in Terre Haute at 1 p.m.

The Anderson University women’s track and field team finished second in the five-team AU Indoor Invitational on Saturday at the Kardatzke Wellness Center.

Hanover won the meet with 194 points, followed by Anderson (102), Manchester (99), Earlham (64) and Transylvania (35).

Alex Friske led the Ravens with a pair of victories in the 200 meters (27.68) and 60 hurdles (9.26).

Heather Quinlan (800, 2:29.42) and Emily Radke (SP, 39-7 1/4) also won individual events for the Ravens.

DeLong leads AU women at Indiana Wesleyan

The Anderson University women’s track and field team competed at the Indiana Wesleyan Indoor Invitational on Saturday in Marion.

Candace DeLong led the Ravens with a first-place finish in the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:48.21.

Other top five finishers for the Ravens were Heather Quinlan in the 600 meters (5th, 1:46.27), Nacole Hamilton in the 1,000 meters (3:45.24) and Alex Friske in the 60 meter hurdles (5th, 9.51).

The Ravens host the AU Indoor Invitational in the Kardatzke Wellness Center on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Radke, Wells leads AU at Wabash Indoor Invitational

Emily Radke and Leonard Wells both notched top-five finishes at the Wabash Indoor Invitational on Saturday in Crawfordsville.

Radke finished fourth in the shot put with a distance of 38-11 while Wells was fifth in the shot put with a distance of 46-2.

Other AU men’s finishers were Colton Sewell in the shot put (13th, 37-7) and weight throw (13th, 28-4), Max Kittle in the 60 meters (13th, 8.89), Steven Wingler in the shot put (17th, 32-7), DeTarance Harvey in the weight throw (12th, 32-9), shot put (18th, 21-8) and Brad McNeil in the 60 meters (16th, 9.13) and 200 meters (17th, 24.07).

Other AU women’s finishers were Amanda Spear in the weight throw (13th, 39-3).

AU travels to the Indiana Wesleyan Indoor Invitational on Saturday at noon.

AU sets home track schedule for 2012 season

The Anderson University men’s and women’s track and field teams will be hosting three indoor and three outdoor invitationals this spring to highlight the 2012 season.

The three indoor meets will be on Feb. 4, 11 and 25 with the three outdoor meets on Mar. 31, April 5 and 20. The Ravens conclude the respective indoor and outdoor team season schedules at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 18 (Rose-Hulman) and Apr. 27-28 (Franklin).
